Now that the work has been mentioned here on Creative it is, I believe, eligible for nominations once the month turns over again.
[/ QUOTE ]
If Coile is correct about the mention and the roll over then Tuft would still get my nomination next time. Keep up the great work! -
I second that motion Mum. Its all fantastic work. Just because its posted in a different part of the boards I dont see why Tuft should miss out the chance of being named Creative Genius. Hes got my nomination!

{Early Morning 11/03/07, Britanic & White Vampyr's Penthouse, Founders Falls}
"Britanic was sat at an artist's desk working on an Architectural drawing of a new hospital project. The plans had originally been intended for a hospital in New Overbrook, however Britanic's company, Sentinel Industries, had not won that particular contract.
White Vampyr walked into the lounge where Britanic was working. In her hands she carried some documents.
"What you got there Suzi luv?"
White Vampyr smiled, and then handed Britanic the papers.
"Its that Heroes for People! petition I told you about. I was hoping that you would add your name and see if any of your teammates will sign it too."
Britanic took the papers, and glanced at them before smiling.
"I don't know Suzi, it seems a bit political to me. You know I dont like politics. I think you are going to have to try convince me..."
White Vampyr gave Britanic a wicked smile.
"Im sure I can persuade you honey..."
...Sometime later.
Signed Eric Mitchell aka Britanic.
{11/03/07 Mid Afternoon, The control room, The Aegis Facility, HQ of the Paragon City Protectors}
Mutant speedster Fast Buck was sat at the base monitor station. Britanic walked up behind him, carrying in his hands the Heroes for People! petition.
"Hey Buck can I get you to si..."
Just then the door opened and in walked US Angel. She smiled at Britanic but scowled as soon as she noticed Fast Buck. US Angel then spun on her heel and exited the room as quick as she entered.
Britanic shook his head and then turned to face Buck thinking he would catch 'Angel up in a moment.
"Sorry Buck as I was saying would you si..."
Buck interrupted...
"Already done it boss. Take a look."
Britanic looked down at the paper, and sure enough Buck had scribbled his name in the moment Britanic had turned around to see US Angel.
"Bloody hate it when he does stuff like that" Britanic thought to himself.
Signed Steve Buckland aka Fast Buck.
{Ten minutes later in the Aegis workshop.}
US Angel had her armoured battle suit in pieces on one of the workbenches she was angryly muttering to herself as she rewired the battlesuit.
"Hello 'Angel can I get you to sign this petition?"
"Ah don't want to hear it Brit. Buck is a..."
"Sign this petition?"
"...low down arro..."
"Sign this petition?"
"...worthless excuse of a..."
"Sign this petition?"
"...ah swear ah'l take his..."
"SIGN THE BLOODY PETITION!!!"
US Angel stopped rambling on about Buck and looked shocked at Britanic, before smiling.
"Sure Brit hun ah'l sign your petition. You know ya only had to ask hun..."
Signed Kelly Lang aka US Angel. -

A copy of a poor quality printed leaflet being handed out to citizens of Kings Row by smartly dressed but otherwise non-descript men during saturday morning...
Leaflet! -
Early Friday morning Britanic was visited at Sentinel Tower by teamate COP to dicuss events from that mornings Paragon City Post and COP's own investigation into city tensions resulting from the earlier reported "Super Plague/Virus" apparently brought to Paragon by members of The Silent Tempest.
Although subsequent reports have since said that the quaranteened members are clear of infection and there are no other confirmed cases, the original broadcast had already impacted on the city.
COP then confirmed to Britanic that not long after the original broadcast rumour of infection amongst the cities Lost had been circulated, and there had been a number of clashes with "concerned citizens". Also the PPD were trying to track down this new Lost speaker who had been inciting various factions into violence of their own and the theft of medical supplies.
Later that day Britanic went to Pocket D where he spoke to vampire hunter Bloods Embrace and the apparently Rogue Isles do-gooder Justice Goodheart, both of which he had met the night before.
Justice Goodheart then relayed to Britanic some details concerning the capture of Arachnos agent Velvet Spider(A woman who Britanic had become inappropriately close to) after her assaination atempt on the hero Royal Flush.
The news prompted Britanic to call his teamate COP, and it was apparent that the conversation did not go to Britanic's liking. Looking both worried and perplexed Britanic decided to patrol Kings Row to clear his head.
A couple of hours into his patrol Britanic had to rescue a member of the Lost from a gang of youths. When questioned one of the youths responded with...
"Hey man we know, we been told. Lost have got that Tempest virus thing. they need to be dealt with. You shouldnt be stopping us you should be helping, you are supposed to be on our side!"
Later Britanic went back to Pocket D and once more ran into Bloods Embrace, Justice Goodheart, and a new woman he thinks was called Rayne. They briefly disscussed the virus situation, before somehow getting on to improvised and unorthedox weaponry.
Although the conversations had done a lot to lift Britanic's mood, as soon as relationship talk came up he became withdrawn, and promptly left to deal with his own inner conflict concerning his own love life. -

Pretty sure you were witness to it in D's the other night Brit. I can also understand reputation but to know everything its pretty clear the person read Echos bio and used it as public knowledge.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes i remember the incident and it can really kill the atmosphere. I read bios for obvious info, anything else i wait for to come up in conversation, get overheard etc.
For example with Echo Hammer Brits thoughts were "Sounds like shes from back home (English Accent). Thats one hell of a fetish outfit shes got there(Echo's Cossie) bet shes been to Soho before." which was pretty much the extent of Echo's and Brits conversation.
Sometimes its reasonable to know other stuff due to things like papers, tv, radio, etc.
An example is Brit running into Tracey Lionheart and remembering her from the Friday Night Talkshow.
Or visually recognising if not knowing the names of various Militia members because of the recent media activity surrounding that Dragonfly business.
In the end it all comes down to Freedom Corps may know but you probably dont! -
[ QUOTE ]
Im guessing you got this from the chat you had with Arc "Arrow Flame" Bled a few nights ago?
[/ QUOTE ]
In part yes, also influenced by US Angel,s interactions with Telepath. -
I know i would be quite happy to see you behind the bar again. Lots of potential for roleplaying to be had there!
-
Ah you must of been playing that goth girl Ghost of Death i actually thought the reason we was herded into the arena bar by yourself was because my character Britanic was being set up for an ambush or something. I really started to worry as we got to the other bar and the lower level was swarming with members of The Gang along with others from the Rogue Iles underworld. My um.. er.. drinking buddy who kept dissapearing for discreet chats finally calmed my paranoia, and in the end worse thing i had to deal with was the annoying Private Parking who i left chatting away with Flame Slinger about poetry (well at least thats what Private Parking was supposed to think).
Actually having an interactive bartender was great and its a great opportunity for them to act as a "Plot Monkey". -
Wow this meshes well with the Civilian ID thread i just put up. You must of been writing yours at the same time. As i am taking more of an interest in roleplaying i already changed some of my characters in game bios to reflect what would be publically known.
First Appearances: Really obvious stuff like accents or demeanor.
Media Profile:Essentionally public knowledge, well known group association. Special deeds.
Freedom Corps Files: Extra little things that are not necessarily apparent that Freedom Corps would know and others might access easily. Like enhanced perception, or resitances. powers not necessarily represented in the game ie "Telepaths Confectinary Pocket" and things like that.
I think the thread is a great idea, and i feel that the roleplaying community will read stuff like this. Expect info from me soon! -
As everybody knows theres a bit of a gripe that CoH does not have some sort of secret identity mode. Some will argue that you cant really have one seeing as you must give up your ID when licensed by Freedom Corps, however im here to challenge that thinking.
Game canon says that you give up your ID to the authorities, fine! i got no problem with that. However just because the authorities know your identity there is no reason to believe this is public knowledge. You dont get out of "Outbreak" walk up to Miss liberty or Brawler and they shout "hey everybody this is Joe Bloggs aka the Magnificent Mr Hero!". My thoughts are that hero identity are not public domain and need to be accessed through proper channels (or bribery, computer hacking, etc)so as to protect the heroes, their friends ,and family from reprisals.
Another point, whats to say the information given to Freedom Corps is correct, not been falsified, or later hacked in some way by the Hero in question.
Also even with a public ID most people probably wouldnt remember names anyway. Everybody knows a the names of a few soap characters but im willing to bet many cant place the actors name. People are more likley to identify with the heroic ID rather than its civilian one. And if they did run into a guy in the street who looked like a famous hero most will probably think "hmmm that bloke looks like {Insert Hero Here!}.
In a story on my own SGs forums my main Brits ID was publically outed by a Skull gangmember as his rite of initiation.
Brits civilian ID was Eric "Shades" Mitchel Architect and CEO of Citadel Construction and Planning. The nickname "Shades" was due to the fact he never removed his trademark custom sunglasses. Common thought was the shades were an intimidating negotiating aid and helped him maintain an almost constant "Poker Face"(he actually lost an eye during the war but slowly regenerated it, and now both his eyes glow with a white light).
Partisan an Enemy of Britanic had discovered his identity and his Mutant heritage. After finding out Eric "Shades" Mitchell was attending a public ceremony to open the new pediatric wing his company had been refurbishing in the Kings Row hospital Partisan formulated a plan. Finding a Skull gang member wannabe, Partisan told the Skull that if he was to rip "Shades" glasses of his face during the ceremony the Skull would reveal to the world a shocking secret and then after maybe a night in the cells the Skull's rep would be assured. Sure enough the Skull did this, publically revealing Britanic's glowing eyes.
Once revealed the next stage of the plan was to fan the flames. It was easy for Partisan to encourage Paragons gangs to strike back at Britanic, but rather than go for the man the reprisals hit at his company and home. Graffiti, arson, and attacks on Brits company and employees soon followed. Contracts were broken, and the Insurance refused to pay out due to "Non-disclosure of relevant information", and the value of Brits company started to plummet forcing him to sell up to a business rival to avoid bankruptcy. Rather than blaming the criminals many blamed Britanic for the chaos, as he was the reason they became a target. And all that was from a simple unmasking.
A Secret Identity mode in game would be great, but as you can see above you can easily roleplay it in just watch out for dem Skulls!
(Currently Brit has managed to regain a huge amount of his former wealth and now runs his new company "Sentinel Industries" which handles specialist building projects such as supergroup bases, war wall maintenance etc, from its Founders Falls headquarters "Sentinel Tower". There is much specualation in the business world on just where did the money come from this time, but thats a story from another time.) -
Update!
Global: @Britanic
Server: Union.
Heroes:
Britanic: Oxford born Mutant who came to Paragon as an Architect and construction mogul just before the Rikti War. Humbled by the sacrifice of Hero 1 and the Omega Team he now atones for his own inactivity during the conflict by taking up the heroic persona of Britanic. Currently still adjusting to the aftermath of his civilian ID being exposed to the media during a Skull's initiation stunt. Also rumored to be getting awfully close to a perhaps "innapropiate" young lady.
US Angel: Mississippi born grandaughter of 40s-50s crimefighter American Dream and Mutant heroine Secret Hope. Turned to heroing after the defilement of her grandfathers recently dead body and the murder of her grandmother by a petty Demon summoned by a CoT Mage. Unhinged with grief Secret Hope had intended to force the mage to ressurect and rejuvinate her aged husband, but the mage betrayed her. The demon now runs around in the slowly decaying body of American Dream calling himself the American Nightmare, while US Angel both searches for the monster and the means to exact her revenge for the sorrow he has caused.
COP (Cyber Organic Patrolman): Former PPD officer legally declared dead after being severely injured during a meta-human battle. Was rebuilt by a secret Crey front companys cybernetics program before the Rikti War. The Amnesiac COP escaped the Lab after it was bombed out during the Invasion. Was given a special hero license by the city and works closely with the PPD in Kings Row. Currently much of COPs memory has now returned including the knowledge that he was fomer partner of now terrorist Partisan, injured in the same meta-human battle.
Villains:
Partisan: Former PPD officer Daniel Goldstein injured during a meta-human battle took up the mantle of Human Supremacist leader of militant Humanity First organisation and wages war against the meta-human community.. Apparently stranded on an alternate earth by Britanic?
Big Game: Crude uncultured poacher turned mercenary killer. Has massive ego inflated due to succesfully killing a couple of minor heroes. Having to run errands for the likes of the Family since humanity first was run into the ground after Partisans dissapearance.
Other bods too, but these you are most likely to run into! -
Britanic raises an eyebrow before going back to talking to the girl in the tight leather outfit.
US Angel doesnt even notice because shes too busy being chatted up by random stranger X again.
COP studies the newcomer and scribbles something into a note book.
Welcome to a big new world mate. As someone who has been here ages but only just starting to get involved with the RP community i can say you are in for a treat! -

Basically I want to start a new African American toon called Blackflag. He'd be a super patriot in the vein of Captain America, but I wanted to know if the name offended anyone first?

I dont think any "sensible" person will have a problem, go right ahead!
Also unrelated but a big congratulations to Big Lunk and Echo Hammer! -

For my toon COP the thought of other super powered policemen is welcome, until he realises the inevitable shortage of donuts on the Union server!

Last night for US Angel...
US Angel decided to accept Alfred's invitation to his leaving party and made an appearance at the Tower. Rather than wear a costume she decided on a stylish deep purple dress, figuring if anyone did have an issue she would say she had turned up as a high class ******.
[ QUOTE ]
slightly annoyed because someone had the same dress as her
[/ QUOTE ]
US Angel had noticed a blond woman seemingly annoyed that both US Angel and herself were wearing similar dresses, but consoled herself with the fact that the other womans dress was far more "tarty" than hers!
((was a very interesting night, was mainly there as an observer but enjoyed it very much.))

Here is acouple of interesting bits concerning magic, technology, and science taken from the "Introducing Doctor Brainstorm!" from the Inventions board.
[ QUOTE ]
It was around this time that he discovered that magic was a real, powerful force in the world, and began to incorporate it into his designs.
[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Doctor Brainstorm had access to new, alien technology that was the final piece in unlocking the secret of the Hypothetical Framework. The Framework utilized modern technology, magic, and the Rikti alien tech as a blue-frame cube where various pieces of apparently useless garbage could have their most vital parts assembled into a powerful Invention.
[/ QUOTE ]
Now this doesnt actually define magic in any way but it does basically say that magic can be combined with science, and technology in workable ways. With that in mind US Angel's theory of magic has further validity!
No im not reaching for evidence to support my views but i thought the timing was pretty good. Also it gives me a nice ingame way for US Angel to incorporate magic into her armour should she wishes via the "Invention System!". -
Actually the opinions on magic i have been posting are based on what my character US Angel thinks which is magic is unclassified (in current scientific terms)energies or enegies from a yet unclassified source. the debate was designed (in my opinion) to discover other peoples take on magic from a roleplaying point of veiw. If i was to look at it from the point of veiw of one of my other characters id give a different answer. The reason this all came up in the first place was the talk of robots manipulating mystic energy and tech heroines trying to rationalise magic so that she could somehow adapt it to her power armour. Just comic book ramblings really.
I found my old graduation robe which was a sparkly maroon colour (i went to a strange American school over here!), and managed to make a pointy hat. Still cant get the beard to grow, and when i tryed smoking a pipe i nearly puked (il just put bubbles in there next time). Any luck dressing up will inspire me with new insight into magic! -
Hmmm this is turning into one of those lab coats and spectacles on the end of the nose threads!

I didnt see any mention of any empowerment stations. Both the Arcane and Tech have 3 tiers of empowerment station, which allow you to build more buffs per tier. As the empowerment stations use base salvage it saves you stockpiling useless junk and helps your character at the same time!
Also both the Arcane and Tech empowerment stations will only work their own respective types of salvage so its useful to have both!
