The new DA arcs are discussed. Warning.
Remember back when we first got the flashback system? Time travel was going to be more heavily featured in City of Heroes lore. I was all excited. Then they released that trailer just to tease my metaphorical taste buds even more.
I still remember Silos saying "...of the 11 methods of time travel..."
Hey, wait a second! In the new DA arcs Dream Doctor mentions 13 methods of time travel!
Now, presumably Silos isn't aware of all the methods of time travel. In fact, I'm almost certain he doesn't know about Dream Doctors particular method of time travel. That accounts for a difference of 1. What's the other one, Silos doesn't know about? Hmm.
I guess we'd have to count and see if the player base even knows about the original 11 before we start trying to guess what the mysterious 13th method is. I seem to remember when issue 11 was still all shiny and new someone far smarter then me put together a list of all the time travel methods we had encountered already but my search-fu is weak and I can't seem to find it.
So, here's the amount of methods I can think of/look up on paragon wiki.
1. The Pillar of Ice and Flame used by Mender Silos and Ouroboros.
2. Dreamspace, used by Dream Doctor.
3. The Destiny Portal tech, used by Lord Recluse to allow access to Recluse's Victory.
4. Nazi tech, used by Ubelmann in Ubelmann the Unknown arc.
5. The Devil's Timepiece, used by The Magic Man in Mercedes Sheldon's arc.
6. However Doctor Echo does it.
7? The PsychoChronoMetron arc gives a time travel badge even though you don't exactly travel through time... Hmmm. Putting this down as a maybe.
That's all I can think of.
And, of course, a disclaimer. This is all for fun. It's a game, we don't NEED to know about all the methods of time travel but it seemed like something worth discussing. -
Quote:Pending being dragged off to yet another baseball game by my family, I'll be there with bells on.
I still have a friend who needs a Layladoll. >:3Quote:He's my friend too, you know.
And I think I'll be giving this a shot as well. Lets see if lightning can strike twice.
Anyway, looking forward to just about everything. The all one AT TFs sound particularly cool. -
Fairly amusing.
You might want to remove that time code from the url. The #at=84 at the end. Most of the action is done by then. -
Hello there, I have
1 Gladiator's Armor: Teleportation Protection, +Def(All) wanting to sell for 2.5 billion.
If anyone is interested please send a tell to @Bellpei or a PM here to make arrangements.
Thank you very much. -
Quote:Just wanted to say, the reason they keep getting mentioned is they are involved in the mystic artifact trade. Their powers are not magic based but they are a middle man in the illegal trade.Again; Outcasts are mutants.
Anyway, I do hope that we get a reason for the lack of magic in Preatoria. I'm not good at making guesses on where stories are headed but I'd say Cole is probably at the center of it. Other than that, who knows? -
If I'm going to try and get down to nitty gritty themes of my good PvP experiences I really like those little "you had to be there" stories. I think you can design scenarios that can help produce those moments but it is difficult.
I remember being stuck at a choke point. I managed to sneak around and took down one guy but disrupted the group and helped my team break through. It felt like the A-team. A good plan came together and I played the role my class was meant for.
One of the better aspects of this game (to me) is it's clear class roles for teams. It might be interesting to look at what is learned from trials and applying it on a smaller scale to PvP. Different parts of a match could highlight different abilities.
I've never been a hardcore PvP player in any game but one big barrier to me is that I feel like I lack direction and that can put me in a negative feedback loop. If I can get something going that puts me in a clear role than easily rewards me for doing my job then I start enjoying PvP.
Any who, it's late and I typed this on an iPad so forgive any spelling mistakes or rambling. -
I don't know how much time you're willing (or have) for this project but you may also want to look into Demo Recording. I can't speak from experience but it may be something to look at. There are a few guides and such at Paragon Wiki.
And while Fraps is probably the best thing to use, I know it can do things like leave watermarks if you don't pay for it. I've used the WeGame client to record videos that I thought looked good. -
Quote:I wrote some Guybrush dialog but I'm no LucasArts or Telltale writer.Uhhh how so? PICK UP Dirty Diaper. USE Dirty Diaper WITH Garbage Bag. USE Fresh Diaper WITH Crying Brat.
Thanks for the trip back in time.
I don't know what I'm doing this weekend. Something will happen. -
I did. Then I threw it away.
When it wasn't overwhelming me it was making me want the strike pack more. Desire is torture at this point. -
Hey there, I actually run an Ill/Emp. I took my build and modified it a little so it wouldn't include purples. I know this still needs tightening but I thought I'd contribute to the discussion.
I would like to echo the recommendation that you look at Coercive Persuasion to put in Deceive as it's pretty easy to obtain. A lot of this build is personal preference so I'd more recommend it as a guideline then anything. I did work in Spectral Wounds.
If you added Coercive Persuasion and Spiritual Alpha this would give perma-hasten and perma-PA. I know from experience.
And I'm still new to build making so... be gentle.
EDIT: Well, I forgot to include the powers you wanted *derp* but I'll leave it be and chock it up to lack of sleep.

I'm thinking that as long as we're on the subject, could someone take a look at my Ill/Emp build?
I've taken some advise in this thread. I mostly team. I'm aware of purple sets but I'm not gonna plan for them right now, maybe down the road. I do have the 60 month vet badge.
I really want perma-PA. But still want some damage functionality out of the power (have my cake and eat it too). This may be impossible.
I'm thinking about removing my two recharge slots from Group Invis since I don't use it often enough to justify it. However, I don't know where to put the two slots when I'm done.

Apologies to Locoredneck and BamaHulk. The server is having none of me, not even my little toe and just when we got that one clone down.

Oddly, The three stooges never occurred to me. It seems so obvious now.
For my bots MM (who is admittedly only level 12 atm) I'm going for an office hardware theme. The bots being Fax Machine, Copy Machine and Printer for the tier 3 (Seeing as how the office I work at has a machine that does all three of these tasks I figure they are obsolete and disposable). Coffee Machine and Vending Machine give out buffs and the almighty PC does most of the work. -
Spooky indeed, were either of them stuck or were they just running exactly parallel?

Mother Mayhem seems to be an Aurora Borealis Praetorian. Is there or will there ever be a Sister Psyche one?
[/ QUOTE ]
Technically Mother Mayhem is both Aurora Borealis and Sister Psyche. In our world Sister Psyche occupied the mind and body of Aurora Borealis after sustaining injuries in the Rikti War. Eventually Sister Psyche regained her original body and Aurora was set free again. (though there were some complications, see The Calvin Scott Task Force ) In Praetoria Mother Mayhem took over the body of Praetorian Aurora and never let her go free.
I suppose, I'm really just thinking of a rephrasement of the question. Will we ever see Mother Mayhem in her original body?
Edit: spelled psyche as psycho... curse you late night posting! -
[ QUOTE ]
Mender Lazarus is from 5000 years in the future, and Mender Tesseract is implied to be a CoH version of Khan Noonian Singh. Whatever the Coming Storm is, it will never occur within the lifetime of our heroes/villains. The only way we'll ever encounter it is if Ouroboros acquires a task force that sends the characters to that time.
For all intents and purposes, the Coming Storm is not actually coming in any way that's relevant to our characters.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, Silos says he is over "one million" years old, he is probably from much farther in the future than 5,000 years. He explicitly states he has "broken" carbon law.
Also, The Coming Storm is in the near future. Silos probably survived the storm and then came back in time. So, it is going to happen within our character's lifetime.
I'm basing most of this off of stuff from the pilgrims introductory arc. Mainly this quote from Mender Silos himself...
[ QUOTE ]
My name is Mender Silos, and I am over one million years old. I come from the future, near the end of time itself. I created Ouroboros so that we could have a centralized location to try and mend the past.
I am sure Lazarus told you about the Carbon Law, and the tethers we from the future have. Of course, I am far beyond my tether, but this wouldn't be the first law I have broken. I have been planning this for a very, very long time.
This threat... in the near future, I call it the 'coming storm.' Earth will be attacked by it, and will be unable to defend herself due to extenuating circumstances. I plan on changing that. The first step in eliminating this storm is to remove its scouts from a point in your near future. If you would be so kind as to go forward in time and help Mender Lazarus. Once they are defeated, Ouroboros will begin charting the causality wake to determine the outcome upon your time stream.

Hmmm... Well...
No one really cares about me but I like talking to myself so here goes nothing.
Shot hot, my blaster and first 50, was a thug before crossing dimensions and gaining amnesia. (his origin is entirely over complex and is meant to be parody of DC pre-crisis) I could certainly see him going rogue.
Poison Addiction, my main villain, is a tough one to call. He isn't really evil he just has a morally ambiguous way of recruiting help. (namely by using drugs) He probably won't cross over now that I think about it.
Xiel, my 39 controller (who I incidentally only created to test how fast I could level without farms post-I14), has had all his evil thoughts and passions psychicly expelled from his mind so I think evil is beyond him.
and that's all the characters I care about. -
Curses!
I was loading skyway city after the final mish, ready to say cheese for the picture and... CRASH! *sigh* Sorry Kyo. -
I was planning on bringing Xiel (my Ill/Emp controller) to the task force but if we need to firepower I can bring my fire/fire blaster.

I'd just picked up a "hunt CoT" mission after I edited my favorite arc to make sure the patch didn't kill it. (it survived)
So Cadeo Kestrel just handed me the mission when I look off in the distance and see
This
I think, "Ahh, the circle of thorns up to no good again!"
I arrive at the scene. I am greeted by
a thing!
from another angle
I decided to take a closer look.
It's still creepy
Then it starts to hit me, all the critters it's got layered there are in the MArc i just edited and they're doing the "giant green smoke thingy" (known as "captured (floating struggle)) animation in the mission. Are the two connected? I think so.
So I'd like to propose an experiment, could someone else edit their arc from the Founders' Falls AE station and then check the North-East corner of Founders' Falls? I'd like to see if this is repeatable.
A thank you to the wonderful people of the protector server known as the Bamas for confirming he only appears on my computer. -
I'll certainly be coming to TF Tuesdays again. I'll try not to be late this time. I'm not sure what toon I'll show up with yet though. So expect the unexpected.
