Unfortunately, we do know what all connotations of the word "furry" mean, and that's why many of us are not really interested in seeing fur-covered women with giant breasts, a dog's head, an iPod, rainbow-striped arm and leg warmers and wearing bikinis in CoX, thanks.
And the fur is multiple Day-Glow colors on top of all that.
Its just not thematically correct for a superhero-themed MMO. I am all for Furries Online, someone should create this game ASAP and everyone can go nuts with crap like sword-wielding wolves over there - where it would be appropriate. [WHY would a wolf need a sword? Do they not possess natural armaments?] really don't want to see it in Paragon. Dogs barking rockets is stupid. There! I had the courage to say it out loud. Don't want to see more stupid in this game. -
Quote:.....'Cause that's JUST what this game needs, references to "Disney verses."There's a ton of half-human half-animal-type superheroes, not just Tigra. And that's just talking DC/Marvel, and not say... The various Disney verses.
I'm not really coming up with any other Marvel/DC halfbreeds other than Tigra and the truly craptacular Beta Ray Bill when casting my mind over those specific universe, but if you say there's a metric ton of them, whatevs.
Demanding player access to the CoX version of Beta Ray Bill strikes me as making about as much sense as going over to Lord of the Rings Online and saying, "WHAT THIS GAME NEEDS IS SOME GIANT MORPHING ROBOTS, YEAH!"
Lord of the Rings is fantasy, they have no robots that I know of and this would be inappropriate to expect giant robots in that MMO. [Analogies never work, yet I try anyways] We already have enough furries behaving disgracefully in Pocket D, can't see a need to make the problem worse. Be grateful we have as much furry stuff as we do. -
It is a bad thing.
The hilarious-yet-feelings-of-squeamishness-inducing Furry universe is one thing; however this game is straying so far from its original theme. I don't really feel that superheroes have much to do with Furries, Tigra to the side. Why are we looking at them in this game?
Can't really say that I yearn to see katana-wielding dogs, computer-using foxes or Shield-wearing wolves, but evidently everyone else is honing to jump right on the concept so c'est la vie. -

I would be fine with losing my current bases in order to get fabulous upgrades to the system; and I consider the current system to be clunky and yes, ugly in the extreme.
The nuking of old bases should be done with a minimum of 30 days warning, complete with big warning windows on logging in, and an "URGENT!" email from NCSoft at least once a week, once the countdown begins. Or, offer a legacy system, although why anyone would want to keep a rickety old travel-trailer of a base [and thats what even the best ones look like to me] when they could have a nice new base McMansion is beyond me.
All prestige should be refunded, were this to be done, so people would have funds to rebuild. -
Dear Lord, protect me from the utter hilariousness of proclaiming: "Let's go back to closed beta so the costume bugs will only leak to the Chosen Few!" mindset. What in hell's bells purpose would that serve?!
[Like that would help.... these are the people who can't spell "Self Reparing War Walker" right.] You think that's gonna fix the problem? We have gotten unexpected costume part reveals on LIVE before.
With that said, snip the top and bottom ribbons off the Diabolique breastplate and let the players have it, please, this includes the chest and back spikes leave 'em on there please. That would be a very nice thing for the developers to do.
p.s. that Fire/Ice hat is sheer win -
Quote:Well, I bought the Liger for my little Beast MM.From my testing on beta, the cats had their own animations.
And I remember thinking that the animations were very well done. The licking of their paw and rubbing it on their face was a very nice touch and was animated quite well.
Whether or not you'd like them, I can't say. I do recall there really only being two idle animations, so the rotation through them gets a little old quickly... but the ones they did have were some nice, fluid work.
I think he's very cute! And he does NOT make noise, for which I give thanks. And I would much rather only have a few animations, than the animal shifting through his animations every 2.5 seconds. That is visually busy and I don't like that.
I like the animations that he DOES have, the only thing is that his black teeth puzzle me... but overall he's really cute and I like him. -
Do these have the same animations as the wolf? if they do, I'm less interested. One thing that bugs me about the wolves [and the Demon MM set] is how "busy" they are. They're constantly in motion, not to mention when I see an animal sit and scratch every ten seconds I automatically think "where's that Advantage I had in the kitchen drawer, is it still there...."
Real animals are not nearly that busy, and I'd like to see in-game pet animation cycles slowed by at least 50%. AND, AND! Demon noises greatly reduced, but that is an old issue. Which it would be great to see actually addressed! -
Enjoyability often takes a secondary position to sheer ability to complete.
I have about twenty level 50's, fifteen of which are seriously chasing Incarnate rewards. I tend to stick to BAF, LAM, TPN every now and then and my personal favorite, UG. UG is an extremely profitable trial, even if it fails.
Why am I not running more MoM/DD etc? Because many of the people I am working toward +2 and +3 are not yet level-shifted enough to do well on those trials. [And I hate MoM especially, but that's a whole 'nother thread]. If you're +0 or +1, well I will speak for myself - If I am +0 or +1, I am sticking to BAF and LAM for a long time. Once I'm at least +1 I move up to UG.
I think the DD trial is a hoot. I just don't have that many +3s yet, trying to get there but its a lot of work, with the stable of alts I have.
So it shouldn't be "OMG BAF AND LAM ONLY!" Why are people running these? Is it because they loathe all new trial content? NO. Because they need threads and salvage for their alts in order to move up the food chain. -
-
Havent read the whole thread, but hopefully there is a mention of the infamous and much-beloved "Self Reparing War Walker" in here somewhere.
Normally i would snicker and give this sort of thing a pass, [including the many textual...difficuties found in the DA arcs - honestly, my guess is that the person who wrote these is not a native English-speaker] but given how much we VIPs are being soaked these days.... I'm not giving it a pass anymore. These laughable disgraces to the game should be fixed, because we are paying quite a bit more than we used to,- and they need to hire some staff. These mistakes make the game look bad. -
Quote:Good lord, you are even worse than me.I won't make a BM mm because when the wolves die they whimper and yelp and that is sad to me. I know you might think that is stupid but I teamed with a BM mm for a few hours this past weekend and I wanted to cry everytime one of his wolves died.
My Beast person is a lowbie, so she hasn't had any pets die yet. Now that you say this, I'm not looking forward to it at all; its bad enough when you dismiss the two bigger demons and they're howling and clawing the ground as they're being sucked back into Hell. That's a downer.
I'm just a little too softhearted, I think. -
All pets should make about 1/4 of the noise that they do; I am even all for mostly silencing the clank-clank-clank continually emitted by Robot MM pets.
Allow me to recommend Group Fly as a means of silencing Demon pets. Standing around in DA waiting for a league to form? Why make everyone listen to "AAAAAAAAAAA-RooOOOOoooOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" every got-damn 15 seconds? Toggle group fly and shut them all completely up. Works for me. Besides, they look pretty cool all hovering around you.
[I have other uses for group fly as well, but it cannot be beat just for its ability to completely shut up the demons.]
edit: I am already not liking the yips of pain emitted by the wolves every time an attack lands on them. I know these are not real animals, but I simply do not want to hear this, I find it distracting and yes, laugh if you will but I even find it upsetting on some level. I dont want to hear animals getting hurt! I find it sad that every time I play a MM I have to run around with the sound turned off. -
Quote:I never bother crafting this crap, because I am not about to waste a piece of rare salvage on a TEMP power. I'm cheap that way.Does anyone? I think the only one I've ever encountered being used is the backup radio, and then only rarely.
I only ask because I'm rather tired of getting all excited for a Rare Recipe drop only to see it's a temp power that I'll never use and doesn't sell, and could have been something useful. Does this bug anyone else? What do you think could be done about it?
I view these as a hindrance to receiving a valuable recipe that I could actually use, since I get way fewer of those because the temp power recipes are falling like literal rain. My upper-level people simply cannot delete them fast enough - I keep an eye on my "reward" tab just for the purpose of deleting them, so that something usable has a chance to get through. I'm glad some people enjoy them, I regard them as so much instantly-recyclable trash. -
Quote:I feel like I'm trying them less than I normally would try a new powerset; especially since I rolled a Beast MM on beta, and when I went back to have a look at her to see if I wanted to purchase the set, I was locked out of the character. Really....? Seriously....?! Lawl.Just out of curiosity, how do you, as an individual, feel about buying new powersets even though you're a VIP member? I'm not taking sides here, nor will I support either one. I'm simply curious as to how the general community feels about this. Is it justified?
Even less inclined since I was talked into trying Titan Weapons by someone else, purchased it and hated it. Tried Beam Rifle on my other account - had a ton of free points - and hated that. Were Beast Mastery at least available for trial on my main account, I'd give it a whirl till at least level 10, but I can't so no big loss. -
I saw the title to this thread and immediately assumed [for some reason] that it was concerning the movie Prometheus. In which case I should NOT have clicked on it, because I already know more about it than I want to know; people posting plot-synopsises in the comments on YouTube for the lose! Damn it....
But yeah, if DJ Zero is a god then why hasn't he teleported Daft Punk in there for some new tunes, I'll never understand. A god needs control over more than one song.... or so saith I. -
Quote:HA, you should be my MMs who have at best, only Alpha unlocked - who have been purposely held out of everything but BAF - trying to run new DA content. Lol. I remember when my Demon/pain MM rounded a corner only to have some kind of snake-woman one-shot 4 out of 6 pets, the other two had a few HP left and her next blast of whatever the hell it was killed them, too. Followed by my MM in fairly short order.Sigh...
Yesterday and today I can't tell you how many iTrials have failed. I am sooo frustrated at the constant failures of the easiest trials I had to quit and calm myself. I have maybe seen 6 level 53 players total across at least 10 trials. I too got a new level 50 out of the weekend so I contributed to this issue also.
I even led a few today, always asking if anyone on the league were new to them in case I needed to explain or direct things. Nope, not one person would speak up.
On a Keyes we had AM down to 61 health before the final phase. I think I probably said to stop hitting him at least 6 times. At least we beat it with 2 min left to spare.
On a Slambda we got Maurauder to a quarter health and people were still hitting the adds instead of him and we failed.
I was on 3 BAFs that had the AVs refill their lifebars during the final phase.
ARGH
He's currently running at -1/x0. Before all this he was running at [I think] +2/x2.... nothing too awful, just comfortably motoring along.... at this rate he will have all his slots unlocked and filled around 2025, is my best guess. -
Quote:Deliberate misunderstanding/skewing of concept for the lose.lol @ Bad_Influence getting butthurt and spamming the thread after saying this.
You don't turn every comic book page and see a city, or time travel either. You don't even see the base origins in every comic. Your arguments are weak and there's no reason to argue what you're arguing in the first place.
Also lol @ my saying that a dinosaur pack should rank low on the developer's list of priorities as my being "butthurt." You live in an interesting little world, but it is not one I inhabit. I could in in turn remark that your response to my post obviously means that you are sitting at your computer desk crying your eyes out, but my saying it does not make it so.
See what I did there....? I'm guessing not, but whatevs. Wild spurious claims for the lose as well. -
Thanks all; I guess I need to go update my Badge-Hunters map pack, since I was not seeing any badges in the zone to collect. Coolness.
-
Quote:Demons, angels, sorcery, gods, devils, black magic, white magic, mythology and all metaphysical doings are not in enough comics you say?...?
I'm gonna miss my demon parts because Mephisto wasn't in enough danged comics.
'K. They're in a helluva lot more comics and storylines than dinosaurs, I think we can safely say.A Demon pack would get a lot more use than a dino pack.... I would include Angels in that but we got Valkyrie, which has always struck me as pretty angelic. An Angel pack would make more sense as well, even so!

Quote:Newp, sorry: that is not the argument I was making. Not at all what I said.So your argument is that unless it appears on every page of every comic in existence, it has no reason to be in this game?
My argument was more along the lines of 'lets see things people have been requesting for years and years and years, rather than this stuff clamored for by a relative few' - the Beast pack also fits that motif by the way, borne out by the relative few I see using any beast pack part other than the Wolf tail, in the actual game. [I am on a high-population server btw]. Developer time is scarce, I say let's use it for the greatest overall good.
Looking forward to the retro sci-fi pack, I will not purchase every part of that but you know.... space, space-travel, other worlds and suchlike is a pretty prevalent theme in comics, so this actually makes sense. Unlike some birds of a feather I see in this thread, do pardon the pun: This dinosaur pack "has no backing in reality"? Awesome news. -
Quote:Yeah, definitely. I was totally wrong: every time you turn a page in a comic-book, a dinosaur IS looking back at you.Y'know, I've been reading these forums almost daily since before my registration date.
You just keep getting nuttier. Grats.
Or not. My bad.
As far as the Steampunk pack, I had my issues with that as well, including that the Steampunk theme does not feature much in comic titles I am interested in; however it had pieces in it that I found useful, so I kept my mouth shut.
HOWEVER. To even momentarily think that the developers should be creating a "dinosaur" pack before they address many other long-standing costume-related requests, is just.... not to mention people have been requesting a base-upgrade pack for what, SIX YEARS?!! And they *still* don't get one, nor is one in the pipeline to my knowledge.... but we're going to get dinosaurs? *facepalm*
Quote:someone else: also, nobody would force you to use any parts sooooo theres really no need to be so angry about it.
2. A dinosaur pack would take developer time and effort away from stuff that I think is more useful and appropriate, so am I pleased? Not so much. Despite forum wing-flapping, "not pleased" does not equal "in a titanic rage." Sorry.
Re gender equality, no one was a more visually gender-equal guy than Mao, so that's pretty much a non-starter as far as flame-war fodder. Although I do think a Mao-themed costume in the game would be a hoot. But you dinosaur-wanting people are evidently going to get what you want, so rejoice. -
....and if there is, how do we get it?
I have and appreciate the beacon to the Dark Astoria "echo." Great idea, I love that zone. It would, however, be extremely handy to be able to go to the new DA via the base, so.... I was just wondering if I'm missing something. -

I purposefully did NOT buy the strappy heels, because I thought they were atrocious re the chimpanzee-toes thing. I heard this was going to be addressed, and naively thought the advent of issue 22 would include the revamped heels. I wanted to go take a look-see; they were nowhere to be found in the costume-creator after i22, needless to say.
My guess is the OP's friends who bought them and still have them will only have them until they make a change to that costume; then they'll be poofed.
I can totally relate to people mourning the loss of parts THEY PAID FOR; I lost the original Victorian Steampunk female face, and I still say AND WILL ALWAYS SAY what a raw deal that is.
