In order to use strategy, i.e. "think," its necessary to know what is going on. On the three KI trials I have run, few people if any seem to know what's going on, or which reactor we should be at, or what level of the reactor is everyone ON, etc. One just tries to stay with everyone else and do what they're doing. This is neither enjoyable or strategically a good thing. It fosters neither cooperation or strategic thought.

someone else: Do you have that same problem with being 100ft away from someone not yelling untill the very end, but rather just having a conversation with each other on the ITF?
Nope, I have no problem with Romulus having a heart-to-heart with the Nictus, not least because they are talking between themselves and not to us, the team. And at least its not a zone-in cutscene.

And actually I think Antimatter is further away than 100 ft.... I never said his shouting at us from however far away is a "pet peeve," its just immersion-breaking and not very credible. Last time I checked none of my characrters had super-hearing.

Maybe it's just to hard for you to grasp?
Ah, the "I'm smarter than you" card, always such a great way to win hearts and change minds.

I'd take that more seriously were it not for half the league saying the same thing, re how unpleasant this trial is.
  2. I am down for a Mercy revamp IF they make it MORE menacing, MORE dark, MORE difficult to navigate, MORE disparity between the forts and the regular landscape, MORE overcast, MORE scary and depressing overall.

Don't change it too much, just make it MORE. However as it is now, it has a thousand times more character than Atlas or Galaxy, ugh those two zones bore me to death.
  3. I have run this thing three times: one failure, two successes. Yet I cannot help but feel that this is the trial I hate the most. In fact, it is the only trial I actually hate. BAF is fun and easy, Lambda is less fun - not least due to the kick-off-the-server bug it seems to have built-in, destroying my chance for a good reward - but Keyes? Keyes is massive fail, on so many levels.

BAF: easy to get a sense of whats going on.

    Lambda: Same.

Keyes: What are we doing? Why are we here? Antimatter delivers an insane rant from atop a reactor - and amazing how we can hear what he's saying from 100 ft away, down on the ground - and then its what do we do, where and when? People run willy-nilly as if fleeing the Martian death-machines on War of the Worlds.

I was on one today where as people were being held, disintergrated, alpha- and beta-held or whatever, and green-light-pulsed to death - ALL AT THE SAME TIME, mind you -, some maroon was going on about "this is the easiest trial ever, I love it." Drugs are bad, mmmm-kay? What is someone smoking, to be able to make a comment like that?

Also see: Cut-scene immediately upon zoning, one of the worst decisions this game has yet made, zone-in cutscenes are just horrible.

This trial is awful. If you love it good on you, but all three times I have run it, at least half the league swears to never do it again. I think this time, I'm one of them.
  4. The one thing everyone should know is that when you are new, there are no insurmountable roadblocks that stop your advancement while you are learning the ins and outs of how to play.

Not all games can say this, and that's one reason Im here and not somewheres else.

  6. Seconded! The Distinguished Competition has lovely, articulated fingers. There is no reason whatsoever that CoX can't have the same, even if only on new models. Make it happen, devs!
  7. So one is matte, one is shiny? Phooey. We have had boots with differing textures in the CC since I first started playing.

However, we sure could use a "with makeup and beauty-mark" option on the Victorian Steampunk female face. Just sayin'.
  8. I might agree with you, if I could figure out what the problem was.... and looking at the pix, I dont see a problem so....
  9. ....Excellent news! Thank you for this much-needed fix!

Now add the option to have the original Victorian Steampunk makeup on the Victorian Steampunk face to the NEXT patch, and we'll be settled up for true.
  10. Is there one single thing in AE that people are NOT claiming is an exploit? Just people doing AE missions at all is an exploit these days.

Omega: I've been taking a lot of AE farms lately, mainly because due to a combination of financial fluctuation and altitis, I've been playing since CoH beta (yeah, before the game in its most basic form was available to the public), and STILL don't have a single 50. Or really anything higher than I think mid-20s/low-30s. I want the thrill of that final ding, and now that Incarnate system is go, I want to taste that sweet nectar just once.

I know this wasn't a thread about 'why o you farm', I just felt like, since it seemed to have simmered down from 'new exploitz?' to 'farming discussion in general', I wanted to speak my mind on my own reasons.
Do as ye will, an' ye harm none. Despite what many would think, you leveling to 50 in AE is harming nobody except The Content Police, who have say in every last thing you do in all of CoX.

OR NOT! Once you get one 50, the others come much more easily. Keep working toward your goal, AS YOU SEE FIT. its your game, you play it how you like.

    For Zwillinger

....Am I the only one who took one look at that smirky, smarmy look on her face at the beginning of the video, and wanted to go all Wolverine on her? I honestly wished for two handfuls of adamantium claws, her and just five minutes.

Ugh. I could not take more than ten seconds of that. TALENTLESS.
  12. Well Socorro, in this thread as in the other one I detect a tidge too much antic, malicious glee in what you have to say regarding the current status of Bare n' Ugly, you're actively rejoicing that others do not have a version that they like - so I think you and I are done talking.
  13. Seconded for the addition of the original Victorian Steampunk face as an option! Its removal has RUINED two of my characters. RUINED. I was so happy to get that face, it was so beautiful.

We paid for that face, and deserve to have it as an option. I strongly protest its removal. Not to mention that it sets a bad precedent, and makes me sort of wonder what will be removed from a booster pack next.

Honestly...because I really, really, REALLY like the 'plain jane' Victorian Steampunk face, and I have a slight worry that, instead of making two faces (1 for you, 1 for me), they might just change it back to the red lips to placate request like yours. I don't want that to happen, sorry. Your loss is my gain.
I am sorry that you don't want us to have a face we paid real-world money for, but.... I did pay real-world money for that face, we all did. And I think we should get what we paid for. If you want a Bare n' Ugly face, you got Classic Steampunk looking right at you in the faces list, this very instant. I feel little sympathy, you have literally dozens of female faces with zero makeup right now in addition to that. And now you want to take away one of the FEW made-up faces we have. Nice.

This is the Suggestions forum, and my suggestion to re-enable the beauty-marked and made-up Victorian Steampuink face is just that: a suggestion. Sorry you dont like it, but I want what I paid for.

But if they're gonna stick with just one face, then again, I strongly prefer the 'Bare-n-Ugly' steampunk face (I prefer simplistic elegance myself) over the cranberry-lipped tart we had prior to the great fix

/signed to two Steampunk Victorian faces
/unsigned to reverting back to Miss Tomato Mouth
You know, I have no idea why it threatens you so much that I am requesting the ADDITION of the original female Victorian Steampunk face to the costume creator. You are more than welcome to Bare 'n Ugly. HAVE AT IT. In fact as of now you have TWO Bare n' Ugly Steampunk faces to choose from, lucky you! I'm glad you love them; or I would be if I cared what faces you use on your characters.

Meanwhile, some of us are requesting this option, whether you like it or not - and I am aware that you are giving lip-service to the idea of freedom of choice, yet you keep appearing in support of Bare n' Ugly. Trend noticed.

As far as the suggestion of a request for refund, I just might do that. The main reason I bought the pack was for access to the female Victorian Steampunk face, and the Victorian corset chest-detail. As I type, both of these things are severely broken.
  16. All RAEGE and histrionics aside, please enable us to have the option of having the original Victorian Steampunk face. I don't care if the bare-face brigade has a no-makeup version - and its not like they don't have 150+ barefaced options in the costume creator AS I TYPE, including a bare Steampunk face - but those of us who bought this pack with the expectation that we would have access to the face with the beauty-mark and the sharp-outline red lipstick, have really been left out in the cold with this decision.

It would hurt not one single person in this game to have this face with two options, Bare 'n Ugly and With Makeup. No exploits would be created. No clipping issues would be created. Purples would not drop faster. We just want that beautiful face back, and it would be a nice gesture of goodwill on the part of the development team to give it back to us.

NOT LEAST BECAUSE WE PAID FOR IT!

Please. I'm begging you, give it back to us. And while you are at it, please fix the Steampunk corset chest-option from the atrocious clipping.

i sympathize over your losing the face you liked even if i haven't used them yet myself.
That will be an apt comparison when I go on a months-long polysubstance bender, curse out/racially insult my boss and the boss above her - nay, the entire chain of command where I work - declare two plain-jane prostitutes I've moved into my house to be "goddesses!" *snerk*, go on a BMW-buying binge for everyone of the opposite sex I know, get bounced from my job so hard my posterior leaves a trail of scraped lipids for five full feet of pavement, and other like foibles. This has not happened, so your comparison is null.

I DO NOT LIKE arbitrary substitutions of uglier items for nice items THAT I PAID FOR. Wait'll they nuke something you really liked out of one of these booster packs, and see how you feel about it. Oh but I know, they would not dare ever do that, right?

What I'd like is to stop this from happening again to any of us. Even snarky people. How will this happen without feedback? AND I'd like the original Victorian Steampunk back, but that is almost secondary to conveying the idea that these redactions are not popular with players. ADD OPTIONS do not subtract them! This is basic common sense.

Here's the deal; I don't want a 'Victorian' face per se, I just wanted that one particular face and it happened to have 'Victorian' labeled on it. I liked it so much I even took it when it had its bright red lipstick, which I detested...and I was quite pleased when they removed it. I care nothing for the other Victorian face.
Since none of my alternates are from the Victorian era, the name "Victorian" has no sentimental value for me: this is simply what the face in question was called.

I want the "one particular face" that I PAID FOR. If they make a no-makeup option for people like you who don't like strong makeup, that is wonderful - and we have one in the costume creator as I type - but until then, I want the face that I PAID FOR.

"We have a lot of bad faces in the creator now, so who cares if this one is not not any good, either?" some might say. It is BECAUSE we have so few faces that I find acceptable, that I care very much when one I really liked got taken away from us.

As far as faces that look like "creepy pod people," I could go down the list of faces we have now and pull out at least fifty that meet this criterion to me. I am not agitating for their removal or alteration because creepy and ugly as they might be TO ME, there are no doubt plenty of people who love them.

I dont use those faces, and those who didnt like Victorian Steampunk could have done likewise. /sarcasm: They've done wonders with this pack so far! I wonder what they will break next.

No. One had lipstick and a beauty-mark, one was sans makeup.

This is one reason I'm so angry: we ALREADY HAD a no-makeup Steampunk Pack face. One big reason I bought the pack was for access to that made-up face!
  20. Its enough to make you throw your hands into the air in exasperation!! They took away the Victorian Steampunk female face [as far as Im concerned, its been taken away] AND!! AND, to sweeten the deal, they BROKE the corset 'chest-detail' into clipping so badly that anyone who cared how their character looked had to take that chest-detail off!

    WINNING!!!!

In fact I think that's what happened: I took my Carnie to the tailor to get that broken corset chest-detail off of her because its ruined now, and she came out with her makeup wiped, too. GOOD GOING GUYS.

Now, I'm in full agreement that an option should have been left in to keep the Red Lips as they were (be it another face, another makeup option). Heck I'd be fine if the default face was red lips if I could use a makeup option to completely recolor them to natural lip tones.
Yes, you had a Steampunk face to begin with that had no makeup on it. We also had one for people who wanted some decent red lipstick and a pretty beauty-mark. [Now of course you already had 100 female faces with no makeup on them in the costume-creator, but the Steampunk pack provided for you makeup-is-horrible folks yet again.]

So now you makeup-is-bad people get TWO new choices, and those of us who liked the red lipstick and pretty beauty-mark get.... goose-eggs, that's what we get. Nice.

One reason I BOUGHT THE PACK was to get access to the red-lipstick face. If they are going to start redacting stuff in the packs without warning, I may have to rethink my support of these packs. What will they take away next...?

Now I am certain you don't care if I buy other packs, and I'm pretty sure the developers don't care much either. Just saying. WE PAID FOR THAT FACE and I strongly protest its removal. Had they offered a no-makeup option I would not have cared.

Those of you now using Victorian Steampunk made-up face version, you have been warned! Touch that character's costumes at your peril!

    d
If I had only known that would happen, I would never have touched my Carnie's costume again, trust me! I had no idea this change had been made.

The Victorian Steampunk face was like no other in the entire costume creator. I am just so mad and sad about this, I can't tell you.... WHAT GOOD ARE TWO STEAMPUNK FACES THAT ARE ALMOST EXACTLY ALIKE NOW?!

RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGEEEEEEEE, sorry I'm just really steamed at the moment, no pun intended. I think the thing that makes me maddest is that we PAID for that face with real-world cash.
  23. Now we have two faces that are almost exactly alike! GENIUS DECISION! What good is that!

If anything, the face is now less contrasty and notable because they took all the shading off of it. Why do we need more bare female faces, its not like we dont have 100 of them now! Fail fail FAIL, sorry I think this decison REEKS.

And I feel the same way about the original version!

Add a no-makeup option for the people who like plain faces, and leave the lipstick alone! the costume creator is FULL of female faces without makeup, I dont understand why an option without could have been ADDED, so those of us who liked the red lipstick could keep it. People who dont like makeup have a creator FULL of options to use right now. FULL!

Yanking this face off of my Carnie the instant I get a spare five seconds. FAIL!
  25. The Victorian Steampunk female face - or was it the other? Used to have red lipstick and a beauty mark. Now both of those are gone?!! if I wanted pale pink lips i would be using the other face! Why was this done? Is the lipstick coming back?

This unneccessary change makes my heart go I have no problem with a no-lipstick version of that face being added, but why take the red lipstick away! And coloring the lips red does NOT have the same effect, the edges are blurred.
