Quote:Actually - there is only one high level pvp zone. RV. I beleive the op is asking for another. Also your blaster cannot get one shotted by anything there is such a thing as one shot code and if your blaster gets killed by a lone stalker then yeah you should stay out of pvp zones and since your obviously biased against pvp why even post in the forums?I would rather not. The Shadow Shard is a beautiful zone with a great lore and a couple TF's. It would ruin my day if my blaster got one shotted by a stalker while I was enjoying the scenery.
Besides that, there's also no real reason for this to happen. PvP is frankly a minority in this game, and there are already plenty of empty zones for PvPers to use. -
Can't the PVP Dev they hired a while back do it? 3 .2 .1 hahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahaha hhahahahahahahhahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahha hahahahahahahhahahahahahahahhahhahahahahahhahahaha hahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahaha hahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahahahh....
srsly -
hero psi blaster + empath still viable
Vill - make stalkers -
With a few returning people - is there enough interest in trying to get together a freedom league? 8v8 team entries no drafting or failing that 4-6 man core teams with some drafting?

Quote:You know, thinking on it as a "How do we get new blood into the PvP Zones" I think the only solutions I can think of right now are these:
1) Have the devs create some actual incentive to PvP Zones so that even if they don't want to PvP, they are in the zone for the incentive. Make it so if you launch the missile you get a buff that's a bit better. I know I stalk warburg quite a bit and I love to stop the launch.
2) More PvP SGs. Even if it's just in Freedom. I've been wondering if it would even be feazable to have my SG promote in the various zones as a PvP Group for a bit now, I've got a lot of good bennies so far (Ventrillo and the like) that would make a PvP group a bit more together, I just wonder if there would be any real call for something like that. Besides, teaming is cheating and cheating = wins.
3) NCSoft events in the PvP Zones could also be fun. Nothing major, just make it so that there is something like the Rikti raids or something like that there. Perhaps have it be a giant robot that each side is trying to take over... games really.
4) Let's just figure that Freedom is the PvP Server and get a group of us together and build up an Arena Tournament. Not just 1/1 3/3 5/5 fights, but Pokemon fights too... though tbh, I've never been in one of those... always been curious about 'em though.
For the Tournament, I would be more than happy to sponsor something like that and I know I could probably even get a nice little pot for the winners of each division (Rare IOs or something). I actually kinda' like that one... we should do it!
----------
PS: I know that #1 is a neverhappen kinda' thing. Just wanted to throw it out to show that the devs could do something, but it's really up to us to encourage new PvP activity.
They created pvp only rewards - they were called pvp ios. The carebears cried so much that they created a way to get them without ever having to pvp.
They had zone wide pvp events. I remember when Ex-Libris and Lighthouse as well as a few devs came to Siren's Call and RV on AV toons. You could actually team with the AV's in zone. It was so packed it was ridiculous.
The test ladder pre i12 days was pretty much the collusion of players and company. the pvpec, as much as people bagged on them, worked to organize a SG ladder, set rules, organize SG's to compete. Before that it was go to test, practice, maybe challange an sg to a match. That ladder had 12-14 full sgs of more than 8 players each.
There was a huge effort to gather the pvp wish list by Col Jas, Not Putzing and a few others. They talked to fight clubbers, sgs, zone players gathered all the info an presented it to TPTB. Not one mention of HD/TS/DR - or the gank code that they were going to impliment. All of that got gutted when we saw i13. Seriously people were like WTH? We told you what we wanted and you gave us this?
So yeah. Reading that line from Posi - it seems he left of "except for pvp - we just like to eff with them." -
Rox just does not want to have to wait a year to get to pvp with all his victory toons..

Quote:This. Freaking this. I am a mostly melee player and I support this.
Travel powers in combat were the single most unique thing about PvP in this game. Full Stop. Period. /Thread. No conditions. TS is in opposition the the entire theme of the game: super powered beings.
It was the only aspect of it that ever made me interested in investing the time and FakeMoneyUnits into PvP in an environment where I knew going in that I would never have as uber a build as the hard core players. And I didn't care, because it was fun.
TS is the opposite of fun. Again, simply one players opinion.
the whole goal of ts/hd/dr and the terrible changes to mez were to make pvp easier for that 97% someone was talking about. Castle got it into his head that if you dumb it down - they will come. No one came. Pvp in this game is like my aunt betty, barely breathing, and about to kick the bucket. Add in incarnates and pvp is just button mashing now. Arena took some skill, builds were varied - most toons were viable in pvp. now....not so much. -
Quote:So I am curious aside from the obvious nerf to PvP exactly what don't you like about 13?
Lets see it gave us Cimerora and the ITF..very possibly the most popular TF in game today.. certain the one played the most.
The start of the merit system which gave players yet another way to obtain high cost recipes and salvage they needed to pump up their characters.
It started Dual builds which many players, myself included, use to have one build designed for solo play and another for teaming.
and while not as important as those first few it introduced the Day Job system which allowed players to gain added badges and temp powers.
Oh and this was the issue that changed the patron power options Villain side and let every villain above 40 respec out of the patron powers they had and pick any they liked.. which all of us can do now. Run Mako's Arc pick Ghost Widows Powers!
For those of us that care the prices changed on just about everything in your Super Group base and suddenly even smalled Sgs had HUGE well equipped bases.. was the last really good thing they did for SG bases to date.
Oh and two new power sets Poison for Villains finally an answer to giving villains a set like empathy and SD tanks, scrappers, and brutes.
You know over all aside from the PvP issue that sounds like a pretty good deal considering all it cost was the same 15 dollars a month we were paying before I-13 and still paying after 1-20.
Lets see..um yes Villz got pain dom...because they complained for years about emp buffs - oh wait they also introduced heal decay, diminishing returns and supression - so that new powerset you got that makes you emp like? gimped...
Merit system - translation ...I don't want to pvp for pvpios and I am a carebear pver so do something or I will go play wow.
WW it was not just a nerf to pvp -it changed the mechanics, movement, function and dmg of all AT's. It decimated the pvp community and no one ever came to replace them. A question I have asked time and time again and no one will ever answer. If the changes were so good to pvp why not put them in pve? Why have a toon perform one way in the game and completely a different way in pvp zones? They put the big eff u on pvp in 13 never looked back never cared about the number of players they lost, never sought to support, fix or even listen to pvpers other than to throw a community leader to the wolves once in a while.
Issue 13 is Castle's favorite issue because he finally got everyone back for the krispy kreme jokes.. -
lol alpha slots - dropping vikkies in stealth is where its at.
-
I find your theroies compelling and would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
-
no one is left u should have fun.
-
looks over at that dead horse for the few spots of flesh left...
I am not sure it has sunk in in 7 issues, but just in case it has not...The devs do not care about pvp. They do not care about rewards for pvp, the amount of people who pvp, supporting pvp or even looking in to pvp.
Bill is right, 13 killed the small but active pvp community and is right in saying if the changes were good the player void would have been replaced. It never has been and only grows smaller. Case in point...PVP IOS..do you need to pvp to get them? nope. Why? The pve community complained so loudly they made them available another way.
There are bugs in pvp that are older than 7 issues that have never been fixed. They don't care. Too busy making Mother Mayhem's boobs smaller because someone complained.
Ideas are great. I like to laugh at hope. They need to change the name of this forum to "fantasy posting" forum. It would have as much of a chance of being read, heard or listened too.
In short - like what you have..it will never ever change and when it does it will suck even more. -
basically - you only need the first two dark attacks and the heal - go red side and get powerboost, dark shield, soul storm - for the ridiculous kb anim, and the pet. Your cold powers will debuf and lock down your foe. The snipe is bad takes way to long and the stun is too short.

it's not hard to figure out - like i said all the resistance powers - the autos you slot with cheap res ios and one psi res ios the others you can slot with titanium coatings or glad aromor if you wanna go expensive. You want taunt six slotted - your melee's 5 slotted and your rage and tactics 5 slotted for to hit -
take the earth epic and take the hold and immob - speed,leaping/fighting,leadership -
you should have plenty of spaces to slot lotgs and build a high recharge - you can franken slot dull pain and make it perma...
I recently went vil side and got the mace epic the aoe webs are hella fun but I kind of miss my earth hold. -

Quote:To be fair to Beastyle, a lot of personnel have shifted or left since i13. I assume that the new crew feels it has to come up to speed on the issues. Yes, I'm sorry, even bitter, that we weren't listened to 7 issues ago, when all this could have been prevented. But I'm willing to give the new folks feedback too and see what happens.
since I a sure this will get mod smacked I will make it short. Why would i/we be fair to anyone who asked that question. It's obvious, same as the last dude who asked it (BTW - where the hell did he go...fired already?)..if you are hired as a community manager or whatever they call them and you don't get what people hate about pvp now, what they liked about i12 and the over lack of activity in the pvp forums...before post #1 then they really need to check thier hiring practices.
Is anyone really under the impression the devs, the actual people who can make the changes, don't know what we hate about the crap ball that was i13? That somehow, OH GEE no one made a list and presented it to them for 7 issues, that was the whole problem. Isn't ironic one of the biggest people responsible for the changes has been Sheened? DUH WINNING> -
Quote:Here is the problem. You're soliciting feedback for changes that happened 7 issues ago, feedback that was given in force BEFORE 13 went live..feedback that was asked, gathered and presented by a much larger, much more organized, much more dedicated pvp community. It's funny you guys ask this when I read the hard ball questions the devs get at PAX EAST. "when will my male toon get a sexy walk?" wow...riveting.Speed falls under the powers working the same way that they do in PvE, doesn't it? It's an accessibility thing, if you expect your travel powers to work one way so that you can use certain tactics, and in PvP they don't, that's something on the accessibility side of things for people playing PvP.
The most recent interview with Warwitch I read seems to indicate she gets that turn based mmos are dying and fps mmos are duh, winning. The one thing they ruined with i13, speed.
There are truly not a lot of us left and more leaving every day. We have told you what to do to keep those of us left and how to attract a lot of those who left back. These excercises in futility only serve to frustrate us more. -
Quote:only going by the excellent recap skillz of dex (and the ability not to spell fourth) -Lol, I wasn't even near a comp on Tuesday. I didn't play. Next, it's Jick Jick Joo, son. Get it right.
"To my surprise everyone shows up for Tuesday.
Forth match is their pick. They run 2 emps 4 blasters 1 rad 1 grav ff. We run 2 emps 1 rad 5 blasters. They pick Outbreak. The great Jick Jick Joo decides it time to destroy them and our offense rolls strong. BFG wins 18-4. A very good sign of things to come."
although reading comprehension for the loss since he does not list a stalker... -
