Interesting proposal, with a bit more thought it could yield something. Though at the moment, there's simply not enough signature NPCs and in some cases, a lack of enough signature powers to make PPPs off of some groups.

Quote:Better yet, replace all those boring old Chinook Helicopters with V-22 Osprey lookalikes that use jet engines instead of propellers.Off topic. It irritates me that we can fly thru chopper blades unharmed. I really want those things to at least whack the hell out of people an send them flying.
-
Quote:I'll take that sooner than the flying car.I know this isn't what you wanted at all, but what about a selection of vehicles we could keep in our SG bases?
I've wanted the Chinook's used by Longbow and the Vanguard, the jets and combat helicopters we see in Praetoria's Lambda sector, Sky Raider Sky Skiffs, maybe a submarine (somehow, possibly dry docked), Malta Titans (okay, they're not vehicles, but I don't care), maybe some cars, doubly so if we could get new car models, I could go on.
Bonus points though if the helicopters or trucks could be alternatives to teleporters. -

(I apologize for the lack of links or images, I'll edit this post for them a bit later)
In spirit of the upcoming summer events which will hopefully be an annual thing, I was wondering if a "summer fashion" themed costume bundle could be considered in the future.
Hawaiian shirts in "open", "half buttoned", and "fully buttoned" styles.
Different styles of shorts and swim trunks
A few new Bikini (or Tankinis to be more creative and/or conservative) styles for women that don't look painted on.
Shell and Orchid lei garlands, gloves/wristband, and head details.
Maybe grass skirts in grass or tea leaf varieties.
To go a bit more international about summer, we could also get Japanese Happi coats and Yukata too. -

Quote:We're not begrudging, indeed, many of us still greatly admire them, so a project that requires so many people admired for their skills and talents makes us curious as to what this project is.Dark Watcher is the only one that jumps out at me.
There's a few others you all have never had forums interaction with. Take into account that people have also been replaced with new hires as well. Generally speaking, I don't think it's appropriate to make a big deal out of people shifting around in the studio. COH still has a strong, dedicated development team and the fact that Paragon has other coals in the fire is a pretty exciting prospect. I know that I'm especially excited as the prospect of building a new Community from the ground up is a challenge I'm looking forward to (I'm not going anywhere, I'm in charge of all of Paragon's Communities)
Many of the people who have opted to shift to another project have put in many years on COH. While that's definitely admirable, from a professional and creative standpoint, I don't think anyone can begrudge them wanting a change of pace.
Maybe we're all secretly hoping to figure it out by finding out who's on board with this secret project? -
GiantMosquitoe's Pony Recluse is better, though this is randomly making me imagine Lord Recluse as the next season's two parter villain.

Quote:Quite frankly, I'd like to think of myself as a very moderate brony myself and tend to shy away from more overt actions..I saw that poster in the keynote and I was wondering this. Some one I know reasoned, that if they were, we'd have unicorn horns....
I also noticed we're lacking in the horse head department. Not that I'd actually use those. ._. It's still fairly easy to make anthro ponies with the costumes we have now, aside from the unicorns of course...
But I would really like a single, long, 'third eye' placed horn myself. I mean how am I going to make my Eva Unit 01 or Lazengann homage costume without it?
Also: this really should be Dink's thread. -
Quote:No offense, Sam, but I think Captain Mako is a good enough example. These guys look like canine furries with osmond teeth and shake colored coats.I have another suggestion. After doing some work putting pics together for the shark fin thread, I figure I might as well suggest this in the character art thread proper:
Shark heads!
But I don't mean just taking the head of a shark lopped off behind the jaw, gluing a funnel to it and sticking it down a human body's neck hole. I've seen other games do that and it looks terrible. Sharks don't have necks or shoulders, so putting a shark head on a human body would require at least some degree of anthropomorphisation. It would require taking some of the features inherent in a shark face, but adapting them to a more human shape. I'm talking about the round protruding snout and the multiple rows of jagged teeth, for instance.
To demonstrate, I put together the following collage of pics I've found all over the 'net:

I'm going to say this right out: I'd love a flying car form shift power.
Animations should be simple, and you know what? It doesn't even need guns or anything fancy.
It's a car, it flies (allowing me to COMPLETELY IGNORE rush hour traffic), (based on my character's HP) it can shrug off an anti-tank rocket, and if it's ends consumption is like rocket board's at only 0.02 drained per-end, then hot damn we have a car that DOESN'T NEED GAS!
How much more 'super' does a flying car need to be? -
I would like to add the proposal here to buff caltrops to give it a chance (possibly no greater than 30%) for immobilization (mag 2 or 3) per-tick to help with its effectiveness, or maybe even enemies in the caltrop patch suffer a higher mag and longer lasting immob from web grenade?

Quote:It wouldn't be such a bad ship if it weren't for the implied narcissism. I mean. GG, wouldn't you find the egotism implied in say a GG/praetoria GG slash picture of fic a bit unsettling? That people are implying you would believe the only one attractive enough for you is yourself or some doppelganger?Any setting that involves alternative dimensions means this is going to happen often.
Frankly, for me, it's unsettling like Shirou Emiya/Archer all over again. -
Still around but haven't sold their soul via franchising.

Quote:See also: he's become a Hikkikomori and spends all day playing video games and watching anime.Protean recently confirmed that the Praetorian Infernal isn't dead, and is just doing his own thing right now.
He personally finds the latest the season's latest line up lacking in "moe". -
That's just because he's old man Muntz trying to scare Ms. Wells off from developing on other worlds.
Also, funny thing is, if they wanted to keep Praet Infernal, all they'd need to do is reveal HE was Primal Infernal's missing friend who went nuts. -
She's a dark/dark dom before dark control existed. She actually is dark miasma/dark blast with a dark armor power and a few custom powers

Kind of wish we got more of those "additions to older groups". I mean with DP out, I would think a hellions and skulls DP lieutenant would be in order, I mean what says "gangst" more than dual wielding pistols?
Also, Freakshow need guys who can throw fire. Why wouldn't they throw fire? It's totally up their ally.
Oh, and Nemesis and Sky Raiders need human bosses who aren't in machines. -
Quote:Not as much as you'd think: Altitis means one has lots of options to make a character, but limited content means you only have so many different ways of running them, meaning you eventually end up repeating the same content over and over and over again.I'm genuinely impressed by the It Feels So Stale Because We're Getting Too Much New Stuff line of thinking.
That is quite the amazing feat of mental contortion!
Wut? -
I gotta agree with gemini, it only feels stale right now because we're getting A LOT of things like new powersets, costume pieces, and low and high end content, but not enough mid-level content (night ward's a decent step in the right direction, but we still need more), too many loose end systems that need some tie up/polishing/upgrades.
But I speak at not being at a loss for teaming because I tend to have one very consistent teammate, and a handful of others whom I can join and I'm not too big on large teams anyway, especially as an RPer where it's hard to get in a word edge wise and not ignore someone else. -
Here's one I've been drafting in my head: Basically, Ra has grown weaker and now needs the help of Incarnate players to guide the sun through the Underworld and slay Apep for the night.
It begins a lot like the Underground trial where you escort Ra and keep him safe from Apep's cultists (Reskinned Talons of Vengence Snake women and Snakes, possibly give them some of Scirocco's powers like dust devils and desert wind), with the odd trail hazard of of Apep popping up out of the waters of the Underworld to try to eat someone. (this would be a long warning instant death locational effect, if you are killed by it, Apep's cultists get a powerful version of a Veng buff for each player they ate, eating Ra is an instant fail condition, thankfully, you're kind of always supposed to be moving)
However, early on a trap is launched and weakens Ra further, he cannot continue and passes off the Reigns to guide the sun to a random player. This is where things get interesting.
Reigns of the sun would use the new APB tech to give one random player a handful or extremely powerful temp powers that could be used throughout the trial. However, to wield the power of the sun is an enormous burden, for God, Mortal, or even an Incarnate. While you hold the reigns your regeneration is halted, you are hightly resistant to being healed, and recovery, and recharge is slowed, you also lose your level shifts or are bestowed negative levels. To make up for it though, the powers of the sun are ENORMOUS. A large area PBAoE debuff can put enemy stats into the subbasement, a powerful single target attack with tear holes into even level shifted AVs (but cost HP), and other irresistible powers.
But if the burden of the sun proves too much, it will automatically be passed onto another player when you die, or you will be able to pass it to another willingly (there's an accept prompt).
Unfortunately, even if one player can hold on forever, you must not, for Apep has locked down portions of the Underworld to keep you and the sun trapped, and by its power you can break these seals to move forward, but it comes at the price of defeat.
Furthermore, like the Minds of Mayhem trial, you must be cautious for every time you die (except at the locked gates of sacrifice) after you and Ra part ways, it will be counted against you, and too many deaths means Apep steals the sun.
In the final portion of the journey, you must battle with Apep himself and slay the monstrous serpent for another night and carry the sun up above the Eastern horizon.
Weird special thought: completing this trial during the Halloween even causes the sun to appear and weakens all monsters during the Halloween Zone events. -
I saw this on FPSRussia and instantly thought: Why can we get these as an alternate to gun drone?
Maybe put on two machine guns instead of one and we'd be set. -
Quote:They all make the generic excuse of "I'm nothing like anything you've ever faced."To paraphrase Han Solo, "I dunno, I got a pretty good imagination."
It's interesting - rather a number of NPC's have told us, at various times, "Do/Don't do this or you'll have to deal with me!". It seems like a pretty decent number of them have been... dealt with.
Might not be the best kind of threat to make, is all I'm saying.
When they say, it typically dooms them to defeat.
I kind of imagine that with how we're progressing so far, by the time we'd be ready to ascend and Prometheus tries to threaten us, he'll realize we've already come too far, he can't stop us if he wanted to anymore and has to keep trying to bluff. -
When that day comes, I hope Gilgamesh becomes our new guide.
Why?
In my headcanon of City of, Gilgamesh was originally a half-god who managed to 'woo the Well' so to speak and didn't even need to seek the Well out, the Well just said "you're so awesome! Have power!" and thus, Gilgamesh became the "Two thirds God, one third man" we know him as mythologically. But when Gilgamesh could not be controlled by the Well, even though he basically drank directly from it, the Well felt increasingly jilted and created Enkidu as another means of control.
It backfired and Gilgamesh taught Enkidu hot to be awesome and have fun like him, and finally the Well killed Enkidu and withdrew its support from Gilgamesh. And so, for several thousand years now, Gilgamesh has been biding his time, waiting for a chance at revenge against the Well of Furies for killing his best friend.
Plus, if Gilgamesh is an arrogant jerk to me, I'd actually be able to accept it (no small part because of his depiction in Fate/Stay Night) since he was the first Incarnate, one of the first named humans, one of the oldest heroes ever, and and was the king of a mighty and ancient civilization and duo'd the Humbaba iTrial with Enkidu.
You tell me he didn't earn his right to be a smug jerk and look down on us. -
Quote:When you put it that way, given how the Talons seem like they're gonna be around for a long time, I'm betting five million inf the Dream Doctor's own anger and hatred for Ouroboros will eventually pit us against a Nightmare of Vengeance. An interesting thing about the Dream Doctor's claim that Ouroboros is evil and must be destroyed, and that he'll send it crashing into the sea, is that we've actually seen what seems to be the aftermath of that in the first misison of Mender Ramiel's arc - and it's not presented as being anything close to a good event.
Another five million says by that time we've been forced to kill a lot of people infested with the Talons' hate plague but being SUPER Incarnates by that point we'll have the power to break him free from their hold without killing him.
