Quote:Fact A: Praetoria aside (which is part of a paid expansion) new zones are not starter zones.Fact A: It's no more work to make a new zone than to revamp an old one.
Fact B: The devs would rather have one good zone and one decent one than one good one.
QED
Fact B: David Nakayama has opened a channel for revamping the art of old zones that's linked in my signature.
Fact C: Blueside is supposed to be done in an Art Deco building style... But that's very hard to tell because of limited graphics at the time and using a 'grid' system to design the city, resulting in random parks that are smaller than my back yard without even benches and buildings being copy and pasted blocks.
Fact D: Redside attempted to make more 'unique' looking buildings by meshing two different buildings together, resulting in wasted polygons players will never actually see, but still putting a heavier load on systems and servers compared to Praetoria.
Opinion A: Devs should look at their own dispute between Neuron (always making new and shiney and moving onto the next 'big thing') and Anti-Matter (takes time to improve old stuff, maintains the city) and THEN say "we want to just keep making more new stuff."
Opinion B: To paraphrase Technot Alpha: "Revamped old content IS new content in it's own right." -
Well, in the case of my natural origin toons, they're just taking their training from their original up to eleven to OVER NINE THOUSAND!!!

Heh. Funny you should ask...
A couple weeks ago, Turbo asked if I would be willing to become involved.
I know I've stated that I would prefer to see appointment by vote, but I'm also pragmatic enough to see the difference between idealism and reality.
So I did accept the position. My role will be the "list keeper".... appropriate, I suppose, since I already have a little head start on it (thanks to the previous efforts of Mad Scientist, Snow, & others).
I feel both humbled and honored to have the opportunity to serve the community in this capacity and I sincerely hope I can earn your confidence in this endeavor.

For groups that could go rogue: we could have splinter factions of the CoT who have remembered that they used to be good guys and no longer want to be evil, possibly led by Akarist.
There could also be Tsoo, with the whole 'honor' thing making them develop certain limits to what villainy they would be willing to perform. -
So, any update on the progress of the committee's formation, possibly even progress on talks with the developers?

Bruising is that wonderful little resistance debuff now inherent to all tanker attacks, it has it's limitations, such as being unable to self stack, but I would like to know if multiple tankers could stack multiple applications together on a single target.
Like two tankers applying bruising twice for a total of a -40% res debuff. -
Quote:My theory about pandora's box has come to this: It gave humanity NOTHING, but what it did was remove a "limiter" in people's minds, also removed the weirdness censor that would keep them from noticing things like the Circle of Thorns.Basically, Pandora's Box feels more like a plot device than something we want to integrate inside ongoing stories.
In a sense, what I believe Pandora's box is/did, is that it broadens the human scope of reality. A feat achievable on its own, Pandora's box just does it on a large scale, with little to no need to work for it and makes better able to use our abilities. (So by expanding our concept of what's possible, in the case of mutants, this might be someone able to accept "okay, my body temperature is naturally higher than normal people's, I am able to use fire." rather than "Oh man, I need to see a doctor about this illness")
This also works to explain why, no matter what origin or source, raw psychic powers (so discounting the X-kinetic) always basically function the same way. -
Quote:Hmmm, yes, perhaps there should also be some examples of say, a more upgraded first tier pet appear as higher tiered enemies too. I like the idea of special versions of the Third tier pets that could be made to con as elite bosses particularly./Signed
The three battle drones would be LT Class and pop up to harrass you from time to time. The Protector bots would be Boss level and fight as a pair at the end of a level. And then the Assault Bot would be an Elite Boss before the finale..
(To be honest, and going a little off subject, it'd be nice if we could get special EB and AV versions of various generic bosses in the standard groups. Because not all special nightwidows are Night Widow Nocturne) -
I gotta agree with Bill and Techbot.
Might also be interesting to see some level of hero versus vigilante-esque choices in the lowbie missions as sort of your own character alluding to future choices they'll make. -
So, here goes a random, mild suggestion: How about making a standard enemy faction for AE consisting of specially done versions of the Master Mind AT's Henchmen.
As of now, we can have them as allies or special bosses, but why not full on mini-factions of their own? (Actually, there's probably a good reason for this involving the fact that they are their own enemy classification, rather than minions, lieutenant, and boss)
But on the note of balance, one thought would be something like:
levels 1-11: they have the basic powers of the henchman, as well as the basic look.
levels 12-29: They have their first upgrade.
levels 30-up: They have their second upgrade.
anyway though, just an odd and vague suggestion. -
Amen. but I might be opposed, simply because this means the assault set will be better than the blast set.

Quote:Well, Lt. and higher rank shivans all have meteor pieces in them, along with a dead body (that's seen even as low as the minions), and you never see them without a skeleton in them.Don't know how official it is but I've always heard that they are human corpses reanimated by the shivan shards.
I think that's safe to call official. -

Quote:Actually, Minions only have 80 end, Lts have 120, and bosses have about 200.The thing that sucks the most about it is that enemies usually have more Endurance than we do. I think minions have 100 like we do (at base), but Bosses have twice that much, and EBs and AVs may even double that too.
Further more, NPCs USUALLY only need end to attack, but never for armor toggles most NPC armors are passives anyway, but the AE versions of armors also do not use end, debuff toggles or damage auras however, do consume end. -

My Emp/energy is pretty close to this.
With Power Build Up and the entire Leadership pool and all her primary, she's left with only four powers from her secondary, and seldom uses one.
People might say /elec on defenders leaves you useless for combat, but /elec has the benefit of end sapping that's strongest on defenders, energy, only has KB.
But she's still a fierce ally on a team and I often find myself having little need to even use her heals since regen takes care of that, or Adrenaline boost. -
Everything I have to say has probably already been said before but...
Melee: Staff, Polearm, energy/psionic weapon(s), Heavy Two handed sword.
Blast/Ranged: A dedicated Full Automatic rifle set, a dedicated rifle set (I've actually done a write up of one before), a dedicated shotgun set (okay, this is stretching it a little), elemental blasting (acceptable if left out due to DP's existence and possible balance concerns), demolitions/explosives (The Rocket launcher power would have a chance to crit for MASSIVE damage), toxic/poisonous blast
Control: Traps/gadgets, dark control, weather control (because Doms don't know the beauty that is Storm Summoning, gotta have a heart for 'em)
Armor: Bushido/vaguely samurai/noble warrior-esque (I kind of see basically it being a cross between shield and ninjutsu, and hey, he do have ninjutsu as it is, why not look at the other end of the spectrum? But still give it to stalkers they need new armors), Feral instincts/berserker themed, nature themed (think maybe a storm or plant armor)
Buff/Debuff: Nature theme (like DE stuff), Leadership/psychic (like what the VEATs have, only, you know, more stuff of buff and debuff),
Minion: Battle Servants, Medieval themed minions, mutants, aberrations, insects, beasts/animals.
Other: Rifle, Dark, Radiation assault, martial arts/natural theme manipulation set, dark manipulation, (don't tease us with just Soul mastery, man!), countless EPP/APP/PPP (maybe without the patron part). -
Quote:Hmmm... I think maybe we should consider a sleep gas grenade for the AoE Lesser-Mez*, and possibly as the ST mez.Yeah, I'd like to see a "Gadgets" style control set for both Controllers and Doms. My personal inclination is something along the lines of a "Grenade Control" set using Grenades filled with various chemicals.
Something like:
1. Web Grenade (less -rech than the Traps one but with Smashing DoT)
2. Toxin Grenade (ST Hold with a Toxic DoT, enemies do the "vomiting" animation from PGT)
3. Wide Area Web Grenade (similar to the SoA power but with stats based on the controller AoE Immob powers and a Smashing DoT component)
4. Smoke Grenade (yeah, it sucks but I can't think of anything else and Fire Control has it)
5. Stun Grenade (ranged, AoE Stun, get revenge on Malta)
6. Fragmentation Grenade (AoE knockback with a small Smashing/Lethal damage component)
7. Tear Gas (ranged, AoE Hold)
8. Thermite Grenade (a fire damage patch, basically Ignite with lower damage and larger radius)
9. Defense Droid(s): Summons one or more robots kinda like the Battle Drones from Robotics, although obviously powers would need to be redone to be suitable for a control set.
There's definitely room for improvement but I think that would make a good start.
With sleep gas you can justify maybe them taking toxic damage, but it's hard to figure out how web grenades deal smashing damage beyond being smacked with the grenade itself.
There's also the possibility of making the AoE immob a location AoE field of basically bear traps or something similar, where it would be easy to imagine where the damage is coming from. ("WHAT DO YOU MEAN 'WHY CAN'T I MOVE?'! THERE'S A BEAR TRAP ON MY LEG!")
A possible alternative to Smoke Grenade, if you don't like that, could be to include glue grenade, a debuffing flashbang grenade (Get revenge on the PPD), Caltrops, or a stunning taser for an ST stun. These can also be considered possible replacements for the thermite grenade, further more the latter two help diversify it as a "traps" set, rather than just a grenade set.
*I consider KB, Immob, and sleep to be 'lesser' mezzes compared to stun, held, or even phase simply because two can only keep a foe from attacking for a limited period of time, while another simply keeps them from being able to move. -
Don't forget a "Stab with the Bayonet followed up with a point blank shot into the wound" power.

Get well soon, Curupira! Take care of yourself and I hope it all goes alright.
