Honestly, I really like this idea, but it might be a little much in terms of coding. And the idea of a building being down until server maintenance seems a bit harsh.
There's only about five buildings that can catch fire (I wouldn't mind if more were made flammable) and the event occurs more than five times a day, and this would end up locking out less populated servers or even fairly populated ones where everyone's just busy elsewhere for a sufficient period of time.
My own far fetched suggestion would be to have a second zone event (possibly even share it with boom town) where you can help construction crews rebuild buildings. like by gathering supplies (which could be temp powers you can get from a glowie and then apply to a targettable but 'empty' spot), or fend off enemies who might come to try to sabotage construction. (maybe instead of hellions for such a thing it would be Arachnos, culminating up to the appearance of a safeguard villain using invasion coding. It all ultimately works in Preatoria.) -
Omega slot will give us the 'I Win Button'.
Just kidding.
But maybe Omega slot will do something completely weird to us, like give us Reaction commands, or give us something like fighting game super attacks/finishers -
The thread was clearly deleted either a mod who is also 4channer from /co/ (the comic books and cartoons board) tired of seeing My Little Pony threads everywhere, or was regularly left only the My Little Pony growing up instead of the cooler toys.

Quote:Admittedly so... I mean to hear that is really disappointing. I know I'm going to get a Golden Shower for this, but with all the other cities, not only does this mean the Resistance is pretty much COMPLETELY WRONG about trying to take Praetoria back when they could just move elsewhere, but also shows that Cole's not even living up to being a Tyrant Overlord he's made out to be by the Devs whenever they feel like reminding us that they refuse to retcon the original Praet Arcs. The end of the Resistance Crusader arc clearly states that there are other cities and other nations still very much alive elsewhere in the world, whom Cole does not directly control as he does Praetoria City. He has a UN of sorts where delegates from all countries come to parley politics, and the final Crusader mission involves blowing them up. Well, half of them - either those loyal to Cole or those loyal to the Resistance.
However, this is proof that loyalty does enter into it, which then proves that these nations are not directly subservient to Cole, so much as his confederate allies.
---
With all of that said, it's surprising to me how... Poorly the world of Praetoria is written up. There's one big bad who controls most of everything, there's the resistance who opposes that one big bad in everything and as far as morality goes, there's nothing else. When it comes to crime, there is one big syndicate which controls everything and one criminal organisation beside that which controls nothing. There's one faction of monsters and one man controlling those.
It doesn't feel like a real, living world, it feels like a conceptual construct on which a story should be based. All aspects which could diversify this rigidly-structured world are conveniently hampered because the plot said so. -
Quote:The irony becomes big when you consider that Tyrant had ultimately proved to be a joke, and that this new version of Tyrant who apparently makes all other Incarnates his b@#$% and Reichsman being stupidly powerful were all things that came AFTER JACK EMMERT LEFT.I like Superman but I hate Statesman. I don't think it has nearly as much to do with his ideals and standards as it has to do with his portrayal. Go talk to him about Incarnates and he just talks down to you. Rescue him from Tyrant and he just goes around stealing the glory. For a very long time, he has been presented as an unmatchable power that we, the players, must always stay below - and that might be the worst offence of all.
And, of course, there's the association of Statesman the character with Statesman the developer, who is oft-reviled around here. That can't help either. Plus, we keep having more and more Marcus Coles shoved in our faces as great powers, and always as great powers we must "team up" against - as if Marcus Cole is some inviolate pinnacle that can never be matched no matter what we do.
The game would honestly be much better if Statesman and Recluse were just to kill one another, and the player characters forced into the limelight more because their respective factions now have no one else to turn to.
I'll admit, I'm tired of it too (though not for the same reasons), and frankly it would be nice if the next batch of Incarnate content had to do with Rularuu. You know, that dimension eating monstrosity who we couldn't fight for the longest time because he was THAT FREAKIN' MASSIVE?
Nevermind the various parts of the Shadow Shard and aspects of Rularuu we haven't fought yet, like Uuralur the Mirror in his Garden of Memories.
Other things we can look into are maybe a reborn/renewed Hamidon assault, revisting the Rikti (again, but this time we update the old mission arcs dealing with the Rikti too!), looking into that alien race that the Rikti feared (The Battlion), Circle of Thorns, Banished Pantheon, or maybe have a faction of the Tsoo and/or Warriors begin unlocking the potential of the Incarnate. (given that, as the battle nuts they are, they'd always be looking for some new, magical means of getting stronger), etc. etc. -
Quote:Hang Ten might be difficult without actual surfboards as would the surf emote, even moreso lacking water and waves.Possible emotes:
-beach ball bounce
-hang ten
-surf
-eat ice cream
But the other two seem good. Hopefully there can be an 'eating ice cream seated' emote since part of kicking back with ice cream is all about enjoying it casually. -
Bumping my personal favorite of the ATA threads.

This was a great thread, Steelclaw. Thank you for listening to Michelle and I's off handed request.
This is the best Valentine's day ever. -

Quote:And plundered them a bit poorly. They DO realize that Bres was NOT considered a good king or a hero? (Actually they don't, but that's not the point of this)Bah, given that the Grail itself was just a rip off of Celtic legend (see Bran the Blessed's or Cerridwen's cauldron) there's ways around that. The Devs have already plundered Celtic mythology for the activities in Croatoa so that route is still open to them.
At best, he taught the Tuathua farming after trying to usurp the throne back with the help of BALOR.
Though the devs are clearly equal opportunity in their lack of research when they turned Romulus Augustus into a ten foot, power-hungry, psychopath who made deals with nazis from the future and space aliens. -
Quote:So... will we be going to Camelot?I think the Grail would probably be an aspect of the Well too - so we'd be doing our own quest for it
In a mild bit of seriousness, I'm not sure the Holy Grail could be brought up in City of, given how finiky the devs are about religious references, and the Holy Grail is a direct, Christianity reference. -
Quote:Given that Excalibur was given to Hero 1, I'm pretty sure King Arthur would be a past version of him, specifically, A LITERAL PAST SELF or a direct descendant of king Arthur's line.If you weren't wrong, you'd be right.
As for the hints about the emdival stuf, if they go with a King Arthru angle, I wonder if they'd make him a past version of Marcus Cole, like Imperious, or a past version of Hero 1? The past Marcus Cole would fit with the way they've done Cimerora, but Hero 1's link to Excalibur and the Lady of the Lake would seem to make him a better fit.
Also, I'm hoping that if such is that case Excalibur will relate his legend (which began in the 12th century) to me. -

Starflier, you have successfully trolled me in ways Golden Girl NEVER could hope to achieve. You cannot see it, but I am summoning eldritch abominations with my sheer RAGE over your statement. -
This... was pretty damn funny. I almost wanna request one for the Japanese Pantheon, or make one myself, might take awhile to find some good cracks about them. (Okay, aside from obvious ones like Izanami divorcing Izanagi over him not being into the whole 'necrophilia' thing.)

Quote:Good point.Technically not... even though Praetoria (city) is on an island (or a couple of islands), Cole has the goodwill of ALL the governments in Praetoria (earth), at least according to the lore.
But still, we have Striga for the 'Island villain fortress' and in a much grander sense there's the entire Rogue Isles, Grandville taking the cake (Hell, all it needs is a skull fortress and then any villain would feel at home there.) so I don't imagine the devs rehashing that with Cole. -
Quote:Well if we just keep the shelling to the lambda sector, Neuron's Tower, and Cole tower, I'm sure it'll be fine. We're supposed to be saving them, not wiping them out
EDIT: Maybe in true villain style, Tyrant's thugs have set up a forward base on an island off the coast?
And technically, Praetoria IS and island villain lair. Just one so massive it also has good guys in it too. and Neutral guys. -
I... I lost more than 30 mill in recipes i had bought...

Quote:Portal tech warp a small fleet into the waters around Praetoria ala Red Alert Chrono-Shift then shell and bomb the city from its water front.Admiral Sutter's bio: *Spoiler Alert*
Rear Admiral Theodore H. Sutter has served his country with distinction for the last 38 years. Though it has been a decade since he commanded a surface vessel, Admiral Sutter has always prefered to 'lead from the front.' The coming Praetorian Invasion has given Sutter an excuse to once again move into a command position directly on the front lines and has assembled a fleet of warships to protect Paragon City's harbors.
/spoilers
So the warship will have something to do with Praetoria, but what exactly will have to wait until later... -
Quote:Well the original place I saw it first was the map in the finale of the Roy Cooling arc, I'm not sure if you can access that in demo-editing (probably can but ebbing on the safe side). Though if you can't, if I recall rightly, it is a standard set piece feature to other Praetorian tech maps. That might work, though if you think of the original place (and throw a description my way, I might be able to helP), feel free to post it!
I'm afraid I don't quite recall which ones exactly. -
Quote:The worst part is, I know of a decent place, I just can't quite place it off the top of my head. Though a general suggestion would be the to through the Praetorian tech maps, I believe they were released with the updates made to them so they should have one of those 'Security Alcoves' behind a glass wall. You might need to superimpose other scenery you might want over the Matrix binary and gratuitous katakana. Is there anywhere blueside, redside, or goldside of what looks like a front desk/security station with a bunch of monitors (like the kind of security center some really big corporations have to keep an eye on the entire building)?
If it's an instanced map, what mission? (In case it's in the MA)
If it's an open map, where would I look?
(And if you've got a base with that kind of setup, I might use that instead...)
But I need a place as a stand-in for Crey Industries...

Quote:The problem is that Bres wasn't really a hero to the Tuathua. In some versions of the myth, he became forgiven by Lugh and allowed to teach the Tuathua Agriculture, but prior to that, he teamed up with BALOR to reclaim his throne that he didn't really do much to rightfully keep.I don't see the issue here? From the description of the Bres enemy:
The original Bres was a hero of the Tuatha de Dannan. Here in Croatoa many of the creatures have earned the right to carry his name. They lead their fellow creatures in the effort to wipe out the Fir Bolg.
And, of course, in Irish mythology the Tuatha and Fir Bolg fought over Ireland (with victory going to the Tuatha).
For bonus points, the king of the Fir Bolg at the time of the Tuatha invasion was Eochaid mac Eric. Guess who the Fir Bolg giant monster is...?
(Of course, Eochaid is a name used by many Irish figures, mythical and real. Including The Dagda/Eochaid Ollathair, god/king of the Tuatha.)
(Admittedly, Nuada LOST the throne for those seven years for pretty stupid reasons. I mean, sure silver wasn't the BEST metal to make hand out of but steel hadn't been discovered yet, and i'm sure Nuada literally ruling with an iron fist would worry the tuathua as members of the Fair Folk.)
Also, he's more considered a Formian than a Tuathua. -
Quote:And there we have it, David "Noble Savage" Nakayama. The main ATA thread was up to 83 pages of suggestions when I collated it all into a spreadsheet for the team. (Ack!)
His art pen is listed as a Donatable organ. Even as a level Twenty EB, he soloed the Apex and Tin mage TFs without even having Alpha Slot unlocked. He inspired Studio Ghibli's art aspirations. He is, the Most Interesting Dev in the world.
Randomly, those threads are still open to further suggestions, correct? -
Quote:Why stop there? Why not water gun and water balloon emotes?a firecracker power ala snowball where you toss a small pack of firecrackers at another players feet with no damage component obviously.
And i'll /sign this idea. I made a suggestion for it myself awhile back.
Someone suggested (somewhat as a gag and to avoid MORE REDCAPS) that the missions should include "sabotage the Tarantula Mistress Bikini contest" or "switch Black Scorpion's speedos with swim trunks". Personally, I actually liked the ideas because it could be really creative with all the new mission tech we've got, be really funny, and give us a change of pace from the usual redcap attacks.
Though the OP's idea for missions could be cool too.
Though part of me would want to propose a break from the usual Greek Myth and suggest another culture... I dunno, maybe have a Japanese Carnival around with a Tanabata and Obon festival themed missions? Of course, that's my Japanese half speaking. Also the half tired of the GrecoRoman-Centric nature of the game's mythology at times. The last break we had as Croatoa, and that had research issues given that Bres was apparently A HERO to the Tuathua rather than a tyrant who favored the Formians (when he was supposed to reconcile the differences between Formians and Tuathua) and lost office once Nuada got his hand back. Of course, the Qixi Festival festival could work too. (The Chinese version of Tanabata)
We could even implement the Big Red Ball to be hanging around for players to kick around.
