Quote:Well then you might wanna word your OP a bit better. The topic implies only a single one, but you say "The Sky RaiderS", without mentioning a specific member of the group.I really meant one specific NPC model, like I've seen people in atlas who were Rikti and things like that, but it's no big deal. If you want ALL the Tsoo, I'm confident that my hypothetical dev is awesome enough to give you ALL the Tsoo! If you just want the dress, my hypothetical dev will just make her stand there in her underwear.
It's probably Dink. Definitely not the pic swiping Zwil! -
Quote:I kind of wish they didn't do this. I mean, I get these are epic incarnate stories, but you lose a sense of personal achievement when you're just one point of damage from twenty four other sources. And even when players are taking on gods in DA, Diabolqiue still manages to give them the slip, because the Praetorian storyline is set up so that the AVs can only be brought to justice during the Trials.
If I could have done the Praetorian war thing, I probably would have flipped it around a bit: Trials are the AV making their super grab for power requiring a small army to take'em down, an then story arcs where you go mono a mono with them when they're a bit stronger than normal but now possible to face one on one.
Maybe have Cole just skip that to being only a one on one fight to let you see how far you've come. -

Just one, huh?
Okay, then, Tsoo. This was a lot easier than i thought it would be given what all else I'd want, but Tsoo just have the most items at the moment.
Unique spears, hats, tattoos for women, glowing tattoo auras, sleeveless baggytops, facemasks for men, long skirts, geta sandals, belt options, thin lower face and shoulders mask detail, back swords, ancestor spirit armor. spear for staff fighting.
They've got a heck of a lot. -

Well sometimes the knowledge of certain dimensions being real could cause problems for both sides. Could you imagine the mass hysteria that would erupt if Portal Corp admitted they found Equestria?

I'm hoping that we get the full Black Knight armor set and weapons and not JUST the chainmail because those armors look kickass.
-
I kind of wish they had gone with a midnighter Epic AT instead.

Quote:No, if he had been turned back into a civilian, he would have been truly invincible.Going by the way his level collapses at the end, it's possible that we've not only removed him as the champion of the Well, but that we've also totally removed all his powers - like we've reduced him to being a normal human again.
As a random note: I'd say the situation doesn't look too bad for Praetoria. After a trial run I looked around passed the blue barriers and all the other buildings outside of Nova seem intact and okay.
Neuron's tower was definitely still up. -
Quote:I don't mind bad things happening, I just wish they would actually not be punishment for something we weren't even allowed to do before.I say, it's about damn time.
When there's no negative reprocussions, when there's no threat of defeat... who cares? I for one welcome a storyline where bad things can actually happen that don't just get magically reversed at the end of the episode like a crappy kid's cartoon.
Without tasting the bitterness of defeat, you can never know the true beauty of victory. Lets work for our victories, rolling with the punches, being beaten down, until we do manage to do something amazing.
Like I mentioned with Aaron thiery, dark Astoria, and the Praetorian invasion.
To be honest, they didn't even have to change the Praetorian invasion too much either, I mean being able to drop portals about anywhere kind of means you have very few countermeasures against such an invasion, and maybe the token reference in the TFs, Trials, and such in which it's mentioned a "Praetorian ally to us" has supplied information of use. -
Part of me felt the "where are they now" epilogue was a bit too long and necessary, but to be honest I know if I they didn't include it, I'd be wondering about it now.
I do actually hope that maybe they might reused some of the first SSA contacts in the future, I mean Alastor, for all his whininess, does have the sort of goal in which you're BOUND to run into the guy again. -
I think what seems to be bugging the OP more is that quite a few of these things are basically holding our characters responsible for things outside what they allowed us to do:
People are mad that heroes didn't do more to combat Mot in DA- WELL I'M SORRY! THE DEVS DIDN'T GIVE US ANY CONTENT RELATED TO IT BEFORE.
Aaron Thiery chews out other heroes for moving on from Atlas, feeling they've outgrown it- I'M SORRY, AARON, BUT THAT'S HOW THE CONTACT SYSTEM WORKS, NOT OUR FAULT WE BURN THROUGH THESE LEVELS SO FAST. Also, he's a hypocrite: you can outlevel Aaron Thiery and he'll tell you to move along. Even funnier since, because his arc deals only with Arachnos, it easily could be made into 1-50
Praetorian war happens- AND PRAETORIAN CHARACTERS AREN'T ALLOWED TO WARN THE REST OF THE WORLD BEFOREHAND!
All in all, it kind of reminds me of one line from Hiimdaisy's Big Long Persona 4 comic: "You wanted to say that [Kanji was taken into the TV] but you didn't have enough common sense." -
Temporarily removed for further improvements

Quote:I dunno, maybe we could count Darrin Wade. My Criteria for being a Super World Threat is that dealing with them are/will be the focus of multiple issues with multiple, standard, story arcs centered on them. You have forgotted the magical catgirls.
Otherwise, you are correct... unless we include Darrin Wade?
Still... don't forget what this world would be like if we didn't constantly stave off the ominous magical catgirl domination.
Also, the catgirls don't qualify since they're not all magical. some of them are science, mutation, technology, and some of them are naturally from a race of catgirls. -

So with Hybrid slot's function confirmed and a new idea popping into my head, I have an odd theory of what Omega Slot will be: It will be an Incarnate power enhancement slot.
On its own, it's useless, but if you link it to say, you're Alpha, and then BAM! Alpha slot's values are doubled and ignores 75% of Enhancement diversification. But what if you slot it into Lore? BOOM! You don't just summon two lore pets, you summon six of the the theme. Judgment? Oh, you better believe it will be Judgement day for your enemies when you unleash it now, because only AVs and EBs will be standing after a hit from this. And so on.
So, how does this sound for plausibility? -
Quote:You know, when you put it that way, it seems kind of odd:You know, one thing i find an interesting bit of interpretation. the idea of dark astoria and the various gods involved to be magical. by strict definition, they would be natural, they may have crazy powers, but nothing inconsistent with what their usually defined powers are. so i'd even take da off the list of strictly magical, its just BIG natural.
and as others have said, praetoria was almost entirely tech and mad science, the game does both, most likely battallion will be ultratech invading aliens (much like the rikti, who are almost entirely non magical, and were a previous focal point)
frankly I'm glad this game works both themes in and does not feel strangled into an excessively narrow definition of the genre, such narrow minded interpretations of the genre would make the game significantly worse.
Thus far, Mot has been the only magical SUPER, WORLD THREAT we've had to fight. Praetoria, Rikti, and possibly the Battalion, they're all tech threats. -

Quote:This is something of a concerning matter that's crossed my mind: Why push out Beast Mastery when it was so unpolished and unready for release compared to staff fighting?Just saying: there would not be a controversy here if not for the following facts:
- Staff Fighting was opened on the beta earlier than Beast Mastery.
- Staff Fighting was acknowledged by the majority of testers on the VIP beta as being clearly ready for release outside of minor FX issues as early as the end of January, as evidenced by testing data across all level ranges on the VIP beta servers, including Incarnate content. There were complaints about the set's sound effects, which were addressed, and there was an animation bug involving Assassin Strike on Staff Stalkers, which was addressed.
- Beast Mastery, in contrast, was widely acknowledged to be underperforming by a substantial percentage of the testers who were actually skillful Mastermind players and who were not too busy squeeing over the pets' appearance to actually pay attention to the numbers. Chief among the set's acknowledged issues were the fact that none of the six pets in the set have gapless attack chains (in fact, all six have large gaps), and the fact that there was an observed correlation between Beast Mastery's introduction to the beta servers and a sudden significant degradation in pet AI performance which affected all Mastermind primaries.
- The fact that the introduction of Beast Mastery to the VIP beta servers exposed a bug causing pets - Mastermind pets, Lore pets, Controller pets, any kind of pets - to uncontrollably charge mission and/or trial bosses while ignoring mastermind pet commands, including stay/heel, (most noticeable in various phases of the Underground trial, and also with Marauder at Lambda Sector, but it manifests in non-Incarnate content as well) should have been an absolute show-stopper to the set's release; there is no universe I am aware of in which an update that fundamentally breaks the functionality of one archetype and significantly inhibits the damage-dealing functionality of two other archetypes should have been considered acceptable.
- Nonetheless, Beast Mastery was released to the live servers without addressing any of its problems, in the midst of a continuous wave (which is still ongoing) of new Paragon Market items obsessively using the four-legged animation rig first introduced by the German Shepherd vanity pet. As of right now, April 3, 2012, all of the above mentioned issues, which were identified on the VIP beta in February, are still present on the live servers.
- We are then told that the timing of the release of Beast Mastery - which should not have been pushed live in this state - is the primary reason that Staff Fighting has not been released to the live servers, because "if we release too many Powersets too quickly, it could be seen as a grab at your Paragon Points, and subsequently, your money." However, either the development team apparently does not consider a black wolf vanity pet that is documented to require, on average, the purchase of over one hundred dollars in Super Packs to be a grab at our Paragon Points, or that excuse is patently devoid of truth.
