Quote:DUAL-ORIGIN boosters! This is the intention for the Super Booster series, and yes, the next Super Booster (SB5) will be mutant-themed in some way.
I suspect, though I can't say for certain (since I'm not a dev), that if they continue the Super Booster series past 5, they'll loop through the origins again, with different themes this time. There's more to Technology than cyborgs, more to Magic than witches and stage magicians, more to Science than the mad scientists themselves, and more to Natural than just kung fu.
They may still release booster packs that aren't origin-themed, but I don't think they'll be under the "Super Booster" moniker (see: Wedding Pack)
Natural/Tech: Commando
For soldiers, mercenaries, and even weekend warriors(includes tacticool gun customizations, digital camouflage, and a short-duration cloak power)
Tech/SCIENCE!: Super Robot
For those brave machines that achieve victory through courage and determination(includes faces/animal heads for chest details, friendly robot faces, and a Rocket Punch power(or maybe a swarm of micro-missiles that comes from the waist))
Science/Mutation: Sideshow
For those with afflictions such as epidermolytic hyperkeratosis(like Killer Croc from Batman), hypertrichosis(excessive hair growth, including places it shouldn't occur, like Jojo the Dogfaced Boy), or ectrodactyly(what Lobster-Boy suffered from)
Mutation/Magic: Bestiary
Includes costume parts suitable for spirits of the wood(like the Jersey Devil or dryad), aquatic fiends(like the water imp or The Creature From The Black Lagoon), and brutish titans(golems, orcs, cyclopes, yadda yadda yadda)
Magic/Natural: VEGAS, BABY!
...do I really need to tell anyone that this would entail stuff like Elvis, stage magic, neon lights and OUTRAGEOUS wardrobe in general? -

argument about how to properly RP some random villain in the Pocket D giving a pregnant superheroine a surprise abortion
This thread's supposed to be for giving TIPS! Besides, the game is rated T(Don't even try to use the "Game Experience May Change During Online Play" disclaimer as justification. The key word there is "may", not "will").

Also, maybe you could make a whole bunch of Training Room clones of a character who hasn't gotten the new cape mission, since legacy characters who did the OLD cape mission can do the new one.

Quote:I think it may have started when the devs realized that the 5th Column is really overpowered at lower levels. For instance, some of their troops in the level 1-15 range get Martial Arts attacks(status effects included), grenade or rocket launchers with knockback, rifles that can reduce recharge speed, or area of effect attacks in general(even minions). The Mek Men have Energy Melee attacks that disorient(which includes a point-blank area of effect attack and Stun), and Vampyr Mesmerists have a hold power(even worse, both units are minions).
Then, before they could get to work toning down their abilities, somebody in Legal misunderstood the German laws against portraying Nazis. Everyone overreacted and decided to instead create a whole new villain group to replace them, and worked on removing every reference to the 5th Column, even changing the game's backstory in places like having Atlas die fighting off the Council in the 50's instead of the 5th Column/German forces in 1941. They can't honestly deny it, because we're still seeing variations on "that group that got their butts kicked by the Council".
As a side effect, the 5th Column are STILL friggin' overpowered in the lower level ranges! They seriously need to be nerfed!Quote:The bolded part doesn't fly for me. I remember when ALL outcasts had elemental powers, not just the level 10 or 15+ ones. The developers DO change mobs if they are overpowered.
And I seriously doubt the law bit. As I recall, there were several games where players could play as Axis/Nazis or at least against them (Wolfenstien, for example) released before CoH. And that would be a VERY sloppy move to make for an international company.
Though I guess I should have specified more that I was just speculating when it came to mentioning someone in Legal misunderstanding the German laws, and an overreaction from the company. Even if NCsoft is an international company, they're still only human. Plus, bear in mind that Cryptic Studios(and not just the people that went over to NCsoft/Paragon Studios) still had a say in City of Heroes when the 5th Column got removed. You know what they say about too many cooks spoiling the broth. -

...and still no answers on what the hell Statesman was thinking when he enacted the Freedom Phalanx policy that required heroes to reveal their civilian identities, or how it's possible that the villains haven't all taken advantage of this by holding their loved ones hostage, assassinating them in their sleep or even just breaking into their house to steal their stuff while they're out fighting crime. My god, it's a wonder so many superheroes are still around.

Quote:Hey guys let's have PvP-based Halloween and Winter events next year! But some people do find them fun, so it makes sense for them to have as wide a range of content as possible.
Some people like PvP, and some people don't - so they have some PvP content, and some and non-PvP content.
Some people like crafting, and some people don't - so there's some crafting content, and some non crafting content.
They're just trying to make the content as attractive as possible to the widest range of players.
Also, so this isn't just a joke post, how about instead of calling him Lord Winter, call him Old Man Winter? Give him a huge long beard, too. -

Quote:Don't forget "without being impossible to beat by people who aren't on during hours with high populations".I'm not arguing that mag 100 holds aren't cheap. What I'm saying is, what else could he possibly do to be a challenge to 20+ players? Even if he does totally outrageous damage, it's almost a given that a team of 20 people would have RES and DEF buffs, reducing incoming damage to maybe 5% of its intended value. If he autohits, that's cheap and unfair to DEF users. If he does damage that's unresistable, that's cheap and unfair to RES users.
What would you suggest he did to make it actually hard and not just fake difficulty? -
BUMP! Also, they should allow for some enemies to be typed(like Undead, Robot etc.) so they'd be actually vulnerable to certain temp powers. Of course, they'd probably also want to make it so normal temp powers gained outside of AE wouldn't have the effect on these custom mobs.

Couldn't say anything about the Lord Winter fight since my computer disconnected me for having the audacity to set graphics above fugly. But if the Lord Winter fight is even HALF as bad as people are claiming, I gotta agree that the toggle-dropping attacks should be removed. Also, DEFINITELY have the merits rewarded on a GM-by-GM basis instead of for the whole encounter at the end, risking people getting pissed when they get SO CLOSE, only to be booted out empty-handed.
I tried grabbing presents in the north part of Faultline on a level 22, and didn't find any presents that spawned Frostlings that a level 15-16 might stand a chance against. I was told that the level of the character opening the gifts would affect the Frostlings that popped out, but couldn't confirm since I didn't have ANY level 15 hero characters at all. Gonna try to powerlevel a guy to level 15 to copy to the training room for the next test. -

Quote:My theory is that M.A.G.I.'s frequent losses of powerful magic items and the reason there haven't been any investigations into their security are both because of the arcane machinations of the person who's actually in charge of the M.A.G.I. vault. He's just an artist, you say?5) And lastly, as funny as this sounds, this is a serious question. With Azuria's track record and 'revolving vault door' jokes, how does she keep her position in M.A.G.I.? Wouldn't there have been some kind of inquiry or measures taken to find out what's going on, or fix the security breaches at least??

Quote:What are your thoughts on the Super Booster packs?Seriously. The costumes are why I play. I love the character creator, I love being able to make different looks and different characters. Having options - especially options that might be vital to a concept, like "invisible skin" or "wings" - locked away within the Veteran's Reward system really destroys that aspect of the game.
If a costume part isn't in the game at all, I can accept that it's not there to use. If it's there, but locked away from me just because I haven't played long enough? Game over. F that.
Also, if this suggestion gets implemented, have it so you can have an invisible torso and/or upper legs, but those cannot be used with invisible heads, hands or feet. Naturally, face-on-chest options should be added for some invisible head characters. -
Okay, cool! No bosses or multiple Lieutenants popping out. And they seem to have fixed the levels of the snowmen in Galaxy City! Gonna check Faultline during the next test. Also, gonna try to see what happens if I'm in the middle of the "opening the present" progress bar at the moment the event gets shut off.
-
About to hit the test server, and if I see that Winter Horde Bosses or multiple Lieutenants ever pop out of 'You've Been Naughty' presents for SOLO characters, I will be upset. I mean, I died so many times on my low-level/non-mez resistant characters during the Halloween Event because of those damn Vampire Lords and Crones and Werewolf wrestling duos piledriving me repeatedly.
