Sorry, with all the Incarnate and level 50 content that's getting pumped out, I can't accept the "better below 50=balance" argument anymore.
  2. How would Soul Mastery for Blasters work with Dark Blast? You could with enough recharge and endurance(Hello Ageless) spam TT+Nightfall x 2 and destroy everything. And if Dark Manipulation gets Oppressive Gloom as well, that's instant mag 4 stun on everything that gets near you.
  3. Meh, Shield Defense looks better still. More resists and -Damage, +Max HP boost that doesn't crash your endurance, AAO+Shield Charge>a bit of extra recharge, and frankly who needs self heals nowadays with IO's and Rebirth.

Of the attacks that do not have a smash/lethal component, pure energy is by far the most common, which electric is king against. (It's also not like I don't have defense against those other attacks; I incidentally have 19-20% defense to e/n/f/c and 16% to psi). Electric also has solid psi resist, which is another attack type occasionally not paired with s/l. It has very solid resistances across the board (save toxic outside of the tier 9), and it also has the ability to cap its resistances to all but psi damage if it gets in a risky situation. Combined with the power to keep a spawn from attacking me at all with power sink, I can honestly say nothing scares me on a high end electric. CoT are not even remotely a problem.

Confuse and fear: take tactics and voila. Confuse protection and confuse/fear resistance.

(The best DB attack chain is BF>AS>SS>AS, which is significantly better than BF>AV)
I am truly baffled at how you managed to get a seamless top DB attack chain with Musculature and near-softcapped S/L defense on an Elec Armor character. I'm assuming Water Spout helps out your DPS and Ageless brings you closer to seamless (while making you less clicky as well).

Anyway, I agree with everything that has been said so far. DB/WP is the easier match and will provide you with a smoother experience on your way up. In comparison DB/Elec might have a tough time at first, but once you start investing it can become a beast unlike any other.
  6. Looks solid, but the PvP IO kind of spoils the whole "cheap build" thing you were aiming for.
  7. I can certainly see going for Barrier instead of Rebirth, and then building around Barrier for the Defense and Resistance caps being a more affordable option, albeit less effective overall.

S/L/N/E 32.5% is easier to build for than the positional 32.5%, but it also provides you with less exotic protection.
  8. Yep defense is necessary, more-so than hardcapping S/L resists. It's also a lot easier to fit in your build. That said, you can certainly fit recharge, +HP, resistance hardcap, and have some form of softcap going on.

For example, you can reach 32.5% defense to positional defenses and use purple insps or Gloom/Dark Obliteration/Darkest Night to close the gap. Then you have Darkest Night providing -damage on top of that, which can be stacked further with Paralytic interface, Kinetic Melee, and Void Judgement. All you need after that is decent amounts of recharge to get Energize up and Rebirth to give you a heavy regen/heal boost.

Here's what I'm talking about in build form:

And yes, that will include a stop at my nearest Pylon

There are non-damage based Lore pets, it's just that you're better off getting moar damage.

With the direction of the game heading more and more towards incarnate content, the "bulk of the game" is quite debatable. In any case, defenders are still very useful on teams, especially on teams that don't have IO's and incarnate powers backing up their defenses.
  11. You have so much support as an Ill/Emp I'd rather go for damage. Take a look at the video in my signature to see just how awesome damage pets can be with empathy buffs.
  12. I will definitely make one, but whether or not I'll strip my other toons of enhancements and invest into it will depend on how powerful TW will be.
  13. Auroxis

    emp useful?

One power that has been made almost completely redundant in I-Trials due to incarnate powers is Recovery Aura. Ageless gives more than enough endurance, gives +recharge, and can be made perma. I would like it if Recovery Aura was given a nice +recharge component to compensate.

Yep. League-shared IXP was supposed to make unlocking slots easier, but for some reason the progression is much slower if you don't want to throw your influence at it. On the plus side I have lots of astral merits which can now be put to good use.
  15. Yes, FA/SS/Soul Tankers can have scrapper level DPS.

FF had the longest cast animations for its shield buffs, almost twice as long as Cold and Thermal. Playing an FF Mastermind on a full team had you spending about 1/4th of your time casting shields on people. You were basically bound to applying shields for a whole minute if you wanted to buff your teammates and pets.
  17. I agree with Adeon on this one, this seems very difficult to implement for its purpose.

And what I was originally saying is that SD gives any scrapper that uses it regardless of their primary a boost to their overall damage and DPS that is not made up for equally (imo) on the Brute SD side of the equation in terms of resilience gained - outside of OWTS with +HP slotting, which is very good but is often both difficult to slot for and on 1/3rd uptime.
Having more spare slots helps SR close the gap a bit. Having access to Dual Blades helps SR close the gap a lot. What's there to argue about?

    Stone Armor

    1. You are born of an alien race that can control the earth.
    2. You were caught in the middle of a scientific accident that fused your body with the elements of the earth.
    3. You were given mythical control over earth and nature by the gods.
    4. You were born with a more rigid skin than others and as you grew up, learned your skin is as hard as stone.
    5. You invented a machine that enables you to control minerals around your body at will.

If you are locked into a single primary though, that isn't exactly the same as the kind of across the board boost that AAO gives to a variety of primaries.
Dual Blades is a top scrapper ST DPS performer, the best out of all the primaries with the exception of fully saturated DM. Not having access to it is a disadvantage and it doesn't matter how you paint it.

SD will have less slots to spend on +damage, but many of the sets that it will be utilizing for defense purposes have +damage to begin with: P'shifter, Makos, ToD & Oblit for example and it also gets the upfront bonus from AAO, so it shouldn't need a full +40% to reach equivalency if the primary is the same.
I'm not saying SR can surpass AAO's boost, but it can certainly close the gap a bit with the extra slots and recharge. Like I said, primary access is the main thing.

You have a tougher time reaching defense and recharge goals, meaning less slots to spend on damage. The important thing is the primary, though.

You'd be surprised what a top DB attack chain can do with +40% global damage bonuses and Musculature.

Rarely is it just a few seconds. And if you're in a team your AAO fodder will likely fall pretty fast.

Your SR scrapper will have a long way to go to put out both the same level of ST DPS and AoE as either an SD or FA build.
Unless you spend time gathering enemies around you, this isn't something you can rely upon. And if you spend time gathering enemies, it's time you could have spent hitting the target.
