  1. At this point, I would have sent tells to everyone else on the team, quit and reformed without the...weak element. That kind of stuff just makes me nuts.
  2. Go read Nethergoat's "Returning Player Diary" in the All-Access General Discussion forums. That's the best advice I can give you.
  3. Lore pets no longer get the level shift? What, the 30-second Hard Way runs not WAI?

If anyone's surprised by this, I'll eat my hat.

    Also, let's make some money!

This is why I downloaded the game client on my work computer (HEATHEN, I know) to do things like name-camp, play with the costume creator, and do some Marketeering if I get a few minutes at work.

...today, I may have artificially created those few minutes, but hey, ain't America grand!

Also, Tide Turner is a GREAT name, Winter! Also, I might be considering having a character in the Guard...talk to me tonight. I've checked out the site, it looks like something I'd have a great time with.
  5. Unfortunately, chances are good you won't find a build from level 1-50 with only SOs.

The Set Invention Origin enhancements (that are in there now, Thundr-Acc/Dmg is called Thunderstrike: Accuracy/Damage) enhance multiple things usually.

As far as SO slotting goes, the basic idea is this:

-Always remember to not slot more than 3 of the same thing (damage, accuracy, etc.)

Basic SO slotting varies widely based on powers, but, as far as a Mind/Dark, here's what I can come up with right quick. Click the link to open it up in your Mids builder and check it out.

    Pretty sure we answered that.

Because it's an element, and wasn't well-represented. I remember people using Energy Blast because the Devs had wanted Water Blast pre-beta, and didn't have the tech yet to make it flow and move properly, which is why normal, vanilla Energy Blast looks a little water-like, all churny and such.

That's the fun thing, I think, of having multiple Brutes and Tanks on a team that size...with so much Taunt being thrown around, it's almost like a pseudo-confuse and everybody's safe anyway.

Other than that, Goat's exactly right. I'm looking at this set as another awesome elemental set that we, as a community, can express our own creativity of concept simply because there aren't that many water heroes/villains out there to mooch origins from.

That, and I really like sets with mechanics, and it's going to get me to play a Blaster for the first time in six years, so, that's good enough for me.

That's like insisting that a "frog transformation" powerset (which I would totally buy, devs) be added to the game because it happened to Thor once.

If individual Pokemon count as inspirations for entire powersets, where's my "sing everyone in the area to sleep" powerset? Set, mind you. I want nine powers. Because Jigglypuff.

But like I said, I'm not really complaining. I bought it already, because it's a fun set. I just don't... get why so many people have spent so long insisting so vehemently that their gaming experience somehow wasn't complete without a water-blasting set. I'm happy with it, I already made two characters that use it, I just don't see this as the "about friggin' time you finally gave us this set" situation so many others apparently do, because I don't see it as a previously-missing genre staple.

This. Damn you Wiki research and funny GIF searching derailing my post time!

That being said, it's up to us to make Water Blast not suck...like POWER OF THE ELEMENTS kind of awesome. All I'm sayin'.
  11. Hahahahahaha "We need a tank." That's like saying "we need a h34l0r." Old habits die hard, my Goaty friend.

Case in point: I like to use PinnBadges (our global channel for kooks) first for TF group forming, then the LFG channel, which is a godsend. Wanted to do a Manticore TF last night on my 34 SS/Inv Brute en route to Task Force Commander, and only got three or four responses from the PB channel.

So, I took to LFG, and filled up in a hurry. Most were out of the zone, so it's a "wonder what AT it is until they hit Bricks" situation...and it was AWESOME.

2 Brutes, 2 Tanks, and 3 Blasters. We mowed EVERYTHING, and not a buff, debuff or heal in the bunch. I was even set to +2, and we had no problems; between ghosting the available missions and the Team Transport, we finished the whole TF in just over an hour.

The QoL improvements impress me more and more, pretty much on a daily basis.

That, and I reserved two amazing Water Blast names today, so I'm pretty stoked about that for next month when I get my next VIP points: Downspout and Affluent Stream.
  12. You forgot a few "o"s in there, Bill.

Also, honestly, does it matter? I think the new power abilities given to ALL Blasters are WAY more important (and bear more attention to make sure they get them right) than which set does more damage. Know why the damage discussion is so huge? Because Blasters are nigh-impossible (to me, anyway) to enjoy, when there are better ATs to play that do almost as much damage for WAY more survivability. People are used to wanting more damage for Blasters they play because that's the only way they could stay upright.

Now, I think, with more utility, the desire to branch out and play other concepts than Fire/ will cause the OMG MOAR DAMAGEZ PLZ! to die down a bit.

    All Washed Up

So, with all the hulabaloo over Water Blast...I was disappointed to find out that I only have 740 points saved up (Damn you, Attuned Luck of the Gambler!) and WB is 800...so, it looks like I won't be getting the set until next month with my next VIP subscription payment.

That being said, I *did* reserve two AWESOME names for the two concepts I want to try out, Water/Mental Blaster (as I haven't played a blaster since AG, so, like 2006) and a Water/Time Corruptor:

Downspout (Really, Pinnacle? I'm disappointed. Truly. Shame on you all)
Affluent Stream (It's a real water term, promise: "AFFLUENT STREAM - stream that flows into another stream, a lake; a tributary stream.")

What did you come up with? I've always said we have some of the wittiest people in the game, and of course Affluent Stream will be my Carl and Sons character.
  14. Also, you're not allowed to get the badge tonight, as I've got my grandpa's birthday dinner tonight and I don't know if I'll be back in time to get Thermaflux logged in.

So, you know, just don't do it. Or, conversely, take FOREVER on the dry run, then kick somebody so I can jump in on the real thing. Either way is good with me.
  15. Gah...800 points! I only have 740, and didn't budget for this. Sadness. I want a Water/Mental!

You rang? And yes, I'm still the Mayor of Pinnacle (6 years strong, no further elections), and will never, ever leave. I love those crazy drunks, and have since January 2005!
  17. Or...maybe swap CJ for Maneuvers, same slotting? That caps S/L, but not E/N, might it be worth the increased END drain?
  18. Done and done...but here's a crazy question: As it stands (without Incarnate powers, which is my kind of...barrier, anything other than what I have once I ding 50 I consider icing on a SMASHy cake), I'm sitting at 44.5 s/l and 42.6 E/N DEF. So close!

For this character, it's been transformational.
I made him a good while back as a sort of joke character for the Crazy 88's- I forget how he was going to earn his INFcincerator money, but he had some specific way. I picked his powers just because I thought they'd look cool re-colored to gold, not because I liked or wanted to play them.

But now he's level 20 and I find myself enjoying him quite a bit.
DFB lets you 'test drive' characters without having to mess around with the organized PL'ing underworld, which in a game with such a diversity of possible characters is a great feature.
So, this has been a great read today! Also a wonderful way to waste my day at work.

Goat, I'm right with you in the "returning" game, I took about a year and a half off and came back about two months ago...things like Multi-bubbles, "Find Contact" and the /ah (which I just found like, three days ago, possibly the greatest thing EVER) have really breathed new life into the game for me.

That, and finally making (and maxing out) the SS/Inv Supergirl Brute I've always wanted.

Of course, reading some market tips has about quintupled my available influence, and I'm finally figuring out how to manage quick leveling with working the market and crafting (which I always thought was tedious and ultimately WAY too time-consuming), and things like /ah and /vault, along with RWZ's crafting table/trainer/tailor all within 10 feet has made the whole process smoother.

As for your love for DFB, I share it! It's like the ol' school sewer teams, but fun. Haven't taken a toon from 1-20 in it yet, usually about to 10 and then run Posi1-Posi2-Synapse-Penny and get to 22 and SOs/IOs and then actually start the *real* game, as you say. It's SO fast now it's crazy, I remember it taking weeks to get to the SOs level.

Thanks for continuing to come out to these! Updated for next week.
It was a good time, even though we actually ended up with too many people for everyone to get a spot right away...I keep saying we need even MORE people so we can have a RWZ2 and race!

Also, the 5 slots in Hurl are for the Overwhelming Force set: same DEF bonus as Thunderstrike, with one less slot!
