Quote:Yeah not surprised there is nothing new in terms of costumes. There was nothing new on the beta server. Not a single new costume piece this issue. Sadness... I guess I can try one of the TFs sometime, but otherwise, not too excited about this issue. 95% of my characters never even make it to 30 lol. And so I wait for new of I21 in hopes that it has something that caters to altitis sufferers like me and *pulls out wallet* I also wait for the next booster to come out that I know I'll buy because I'm a sap for new shiny.

Quote:They mentioned in the Producer's Letter that it would be this week.I doubt it will be tomorrow, there's usually a pre-download or a downtime announcement, but I bet it will be the following Tuesday.
It's not far off though. They've had the overview up for weeks now, same with the Coming Soon sign on the frontpage of the website. -

Quote:Yeah two whole tfs in Issue 20. Have fun finishing that up in a week.Don't worry - there'll still be plenty of non-Incanrate stuff to keep you occupied
EDIT: Oh you mean the stuff that's been there for 7+ years, some of which is showing its age and has been done to death (coh), stuff that's just borked (pvp) and stuff that has been ignored (bases).
Gotcha. I love issue 20, but I'm not going to pretend that folks that are disappointed don't have a right to be.
Is the endgame a grind? emphatic yes, just because there isn't enough of it yet. Is it a bad grind? NO, I find MOST of it fun and can wait as they expand it. For those that don't like trials ... oh well, there are still the tfs and older content. -
Quote:Best Darkseid vs Superman fight ever portrayed. Even though he loses, lol.To borrow one of my favorite quotes from one of my favorite superheroes:
"Me? I've got a different problem. I feel like I live in a world made of... cardboard, always taking constant care not to break something, to break someone. Never allowing myself to lose control even for a moment, or someone could die. But you can take it, can't you, big man? What we have here is a rare opportunity for me to cut loose and show you just how powerful I really am."
Also hands down best piece of dialogue in Justice League Unlimited. -
Quote:The upgrades were necessary and long overdue. Travel pretty much became pointless the day they added the Oroborus portal. Hell the day they added BASE connections. The trams not connecting was a pointless and useless relic after that.Wrong. To you it might be nothing more, but there will be others to whom it enriches the overall gameplay experience.
Nail. Head.
The zoning is part of a game concept that doesn't revolve around a selection menu and a quick play button. There's a virtual world out there and it's there for a reason. Personally I see no trouble with making my way across some of it even if the task I've got at that particular moment doesn't strictly require it.
That's really my whole 2 cts right there, but just for the sake of demonstrating there's a different perspective from yours that goes in an entirely opposite direction I'll have you know the following as well:
I in fact am one of those who'll never be fully happy with all those "improvements" you mentioned. I don't want temp travel powers, but alas, so be it. The fact trains and ferries started going to all places though made me even a whole lot more sad. Green line and yellow line merging. Ferry going right from Grandville to Mercy, that was just horrible. The day the update that implemented those changes was deployed is a dark page in my CoX history book.
To be perfectly honest, I long back to hovering through Hollows.
I'm with the OP and others. If the mission sends you a zone away at least let it make sense for the mob type or story that it's focusing on. -

HA! Glad I'm not the only one who thought that.
Also surprised to see the ITF so back on the list so early.
Also who was the fool who said they'd put the shard tfs (which only heros can access and which there are no equivalently long villainside sfs) in the WST. They must feel pretty bloody foolish. -
Quote:What both of you say needs to be put in the context of something that's often missed when these (and similar) discussions start:You and I play this game in different worlds. I largely ignored Synapse and played the living bejezus out of Tin Mage last week. I find Tin Mage rather exciting, fast paced and short. I had completed the WST on all 10 50s by Wednesday, and I got the 2nd tier badge for running the WST 10 extra times on my main badger.
The folks I run it with typically complete Tin Mage in slightly less time than we do the ITF, and we typically complete Apex in even less.
What server?
sooo, what server were you on, and what server was EvilRyu on? Depending on the time of day and the size of the server, wouldn't surprise me if some can run Tin Mage more regularly than others. And that goes for about most of the new TFs.
If a server has a really small pop, I can see the pop going for the fastest and easiest to form for, tfs/sfs. I'd argue that ITF is infinetly easier to form for on certain servers than any of the Incarnate TFs. Especially since there is no barrier to entry for the ITF. Unlike Tin and Apex which not only require 50 (since you can only open up your Incarnate Slot at 50 unless I missed something) AND require to HAVE something slotted in it. (Granted for some support classes who avoid attacking during said tfs it's not necessary, but in general it's still a barrier).
I say this all with no scientific data to back it up ofcourse. -

Quote:Also on the fact that the 50 won't be standing there allowing himself to be killed. Given enough time ANYTHING can do enough damage to kill a 50. So of all things that show you are still 50, doing enough damage to kill a 50 isn't all that impressive to use as an example.Incorrect. The modified damage that the minion does with each attack is irrelevant. Zombie Man's scenario explicitly states that the minion DID enough damage to kill a 50. Not that the minion's attacks, unmodified, would have killed a 50.
Of course the scenario is oversimplified as stated, since "enough damage to kill a 50" depends on a lot more than level (AT, +Max Health set bonuses, Accolades, etc). -
Quote:ROTFL!So then, conversely, if you don't die, then you are level 51?
In that case, I'll happily point out that said minion's damage is reduced due to the level shift. Meaning you won't die. Level 51. QED.
Seriously, why can't we all just say "I'm like 51, but not".
Honestly I couldn't care less if someone says they are rutabega as long as they aren't a total moron during a tf. -
Quote:Pretty much this. If the road to the reward is a slog then it's not worth it.I want the work itself to be gratifying. That way you get both instant gratification, and an end goal to work towards.
So far COH has gotten this right. Let's see if they still have come issue 20. I'm betting on they have. -
Quote:The issue is that it's downloading all the files (all 4g all over again) when the old way (copy the piggs and a copy other files) to get test would work to minimize that. The instructions in the original post are correct. Did they not work for you?
With the new launcher that doesn't seem to work.
But it's fine. I'm okay with downloading a 3rd complete copy. -
NVM, figured this out.

Quote:Whether they do or not doesn't change the fact that CO was a failure. They had the option of going free to play or . . .Yes, you'd never see Paragon Studios hiding or masking the number of players on a server, say by changing how the search tool reports totals for example, would you...
Yeah. -
Quote:There are MANY MANY things in the non-Praetorian storyline that could be used for the Incarnate crescendo.I'm not.
I feel like they're building the investment for an Incarnate crescendo. The Praetorian angle is an effective vehicle for that.
There's absolutely nothing that says they had to stick it to being related to Praetoria. -
/signed to all the suggestions.
VEATs show that there are no good reason left for the holes found in various aspects of the EATs. -
Quote:Bingo. I used the example of pvp because it's easily the thing that makes folks most uncomfortable. It's also the one thing that easy to define across multiple games. I don't care how you window dress it or put mini games around it, the established definition of pvp is what it is period. It isn't. Your example though, just proves my point, since trying to break a record is an inherently competitive goal. Who you're competing against is irrelevant; what matters is that you're measuring your accomplishment against other people's.
I'm only talking about PvP because someone else brought it up, it's a perfect example of a game aspect that makes some people uncomfortable, and you keep insisting that it shouldn't make people uncomfortable. You could just as easily use the example of PuGs or the market, and some advocates of those activities would probably chime in and claim that these activities are fun, relaxing, and they don't see why anyone would be opposed to participating in them.
The second you are allowed to attack another player, that's a player vs player. Some folks DO NOT like it. I know this is hard for some folks to grasp, but some folks play games for relaxation and fun. Relaxation and fun to them is cooperating with others and not attacking them. Bashing the AI over and over again IS fun and relaxing for many people. THAT is THEIR comfort zone.
ANYTHING with pvp in it takes them out of their comfort zone.
On the flipside some folks play games to put themselves under stress or challenge themselves or compete against live thinking opponents. ANYTHING that doesn't involve that in games takes them out of THEIR comfort zone.
I don't know how much simpler that can be put, without someone misconstruing that as some silly blanket attack on pvp. -
Quote:That DOES sound like they've changed their view. In the past we didn't even get something like that.Oh I agree that the devs have, in their way, stated their position again. But I can also see posters taking the view that they didn't specifically say "no", and counter what Arcana said as still being on the table after reading that article.
Whether it will happen before the servers shut down though is another thing.
"We're thinking about" it is not the same thing as "we'll eventually do it".
EDIT: Also the way they put it "The team has discussed it but wants to avoid facilitating regular respecs for the "optimal" build or flavors of the week." makes it sound like if they do do it folks may not like how they do it.
I can easily see them requiring you to start at level 1 again for instance. Which many folks may not like.
