Completely irrelevant as you'll be lucky to be able to get enough for a MoM trail on some servers.
On MOST servers I'd argue people just take what's there and go. The longer you wait for the perfect team, the longer it is before you start and the more likely it is that you don't form some trials EVER on some servers.
In fact for anyone trying to form a trial that way I avoid them like the plague as I don't like to have my playtime wasted by such idiocy.
Most trial leaders take what's there on Pocket D or RWZ and start. -
Quote:Pretty much what the goat said.I haven't noticed *anything* lasting long on a (good) team throughout the entire history of the game.
I see these changes mainly benefiting soloists- on a team, it's just overkill.
But the ATs benefiting most from the changes still won't be casually blasting through high difficulty farm maps- they're still "squishies".
In the case of blasters, they've long been at the bottom of the food chain. Even a fairly huge buff isn't going to make them 'overpowered'. The basic flaw of the AT (no inherent mez defenses in a game with a whole lot of mez) remains in place.
And given the historically cautious approach the devs take to any sort of buff I doubt any of this stuff is the result of 4am philosophizing after a lengthy pub crawl. -
Quote:There are no good or bad ATs. That was the point I was making.I was talking about having all the ATs perform well enough so you wouldn't have a reason to select on that basis, and you wouldn't have leagues composed of nothing but the "GOOD" ATs.
I have no idea what you think you are talking about or how it bears any relationship to what I said. It looks like you didn't as well.
The makeup of a league/team is irrelevant as long as the league succeeds.
This game is easy enough that any combination can work. My argument is that a majority of the player base does not select on the basis of good or bad ATs. Only us forum munchkins are that anal retentive. -
Quote:I couldn't give a rat's *** as long as the league succeeds.Remember you felt that way the next time you join a league and its 90% tanks, scrappers and brutes. It's really important in any game that you have similar levels of effectiveness amongst the pieces. Otherwise what you see are masses of a few particular pieces.
Unlike some folks on these forums, I don't. *******. care. about team make up as long as the team can succeed. -
Quote:The web team sucks or is nearly non-existant. That's the reason they don't have the tech. Not hard to understand.Erm, yeah... you can't get this aura on the market.
They can't... They don't have the tech, apparently. Yeah, I don't get that either.
Okay, after discussing the situation with friends, here is an alternate method that is less labor intensive:- Put the item on the market, for 0 points and for 5-10 minutes from the announcement.
- Do NOT put it in an obvious place like "paragon picks", or at least not on the front page.
- Announce the surprise item "sale" on Twitter.
- Far less labor intensive for the community team.
- No need to worry about player region.
- Utilize existing store functions that I know you have access to.
- Many happy customers.
- Only 1 code per game account.
- No resale of codes.
- Players can stumble upon the market item without going to the social network.
- Word of mouth may let the item go to people that don't go to the network.
- It doesn't get people to create a twitter account to follow you, but then again, neither did the screenshot of the codes.
- People at work during the contest times can't log into the game (okay, most people working these times can't).
And your solution doesn't NOT make more people happy based on the part I bolded. Your solution would be worse than what they are doing now, IMO.
EDIT: A lot more people can log into social media at the times they do this (at work) than can log into the game (again at work). -

Quote:So tell us . . . how do you really feel about social media?I hate social media because it's Big Brother's younger sibling, and people are waving it around as a good thing.
I hate social media because I'm sick of everybody and his dog tying their login systems and miscellaneous functions into sites that have been proven over and over to have all the security of a rice-paper hut.
I hate social media because I can't go ANYWHERE without someone trying to shove it in my face. (Also one of the reasons I hate religion, but that's an entirely different topic.)
I hate social media because I find it morally repugnant to cash in on the details of someone's personal life. Like reality TV wasn't bad enough in that regard?
I hate social media because it does a lot of things that anywhere but the internet would land you in prison for voyeurism/stalking/harassment/etc.
I hate social media because it hands a microphone to a lot of people who really should have their tongues cut out instead of giving them an audience.
Please don't hold back.

Quote:And this. IOs are not necessary to play the game or be effective. I've seen folks who IOs suck worse than those with SO.Many people hate the market and the time sink IO's can be. Many people love it (I do). It's okay for people to pay their money and play the game THEY like.
But to my mind, it's pretty much NOT okay to talk down at people who don't enjoy the same game experience that you enjoy.
Having IOs doesn't automatically make you awesome if you play like a blind, "leroy jenkins" yelling, rushing-into-mobs fool. -

Quote:Because it's the city of heroes forums, where even the silliest, most unrealistic things get a life cause everyone loves to pad their post count.how did this thread get so derailed going from moaning about nonexistant and unnanounced "nerfs" to trying to pin down how a fictional characters fits into our fictional game universe?
Oh, and +1

If it means taking the cottage rule out into a back alley, beating it with a spiked bat, decapitating it, then running over it about 50 times with a monster truck, while setting it on fire, while playing Jenga on it's dead corpse, to get improvements to barely if ever used pool powers . . .
I say the devs can have it good sirs and madams.

Quote:Some would argue AE ruined the game.I don't care about bases. I don't even use my SG base for the teleporters.
but at least bases don't ruin the game like incarnate powers
/shrug to each their own.
As to bases: not worth the return on the investment unless they suddenly allow every single member of an sg to modify their base. -
Dear Paragon Studios,
I'll be honest when they first announced COH Freedom I was optimistic but worried.
But with all the funds you guys are apparently getting from it, and all the returns we've been seeing (and will be seeing) . . . I have to say . . .
You guys are on a roll!
From,
A seriously impressed veteran player!!!!

Quote:*does double take*Also they mentioned more pool overviews next week. I want to see what Leadership is getting (since it's my favorite power pool).
Okay, clearly not paying attention to every word they speak during those things is baaaaaad.
Great to read this. -

Quote:Don't forget the upcoming snipe change if you are into that sort of thing. If it works like you said, it's awesome. It will also make Bonfire deal more damage, since when they are in the air they dont take damage. Still making it a very powerful power choice overall. Add that to a blaster with a new crashless nuke and VOILA :P
-
Quote:/shrug. I only cared about the crash going away. That is NOT all.
1- The crash is being removed.
2- The base end cost is being normalized at 27 End.
3- The recharge is being reduced and normalized at about 2m25s.
4- The damage is being reduced by a VERY small amount. However, you can use the power far more often, AND any "Chance of damage" ticks in the nuke are being removed, and added to the base damage. -
