Put me down as another vote for the mfing warshade. My purpled out warshade is a beast. Both Mires are no longer buffs with the level or recharge (200%) she has. They are crashless nukes.
, that combined with three pets, perma-eclipse, and always having the rez up when things go south (lol barely ever) means she is not dieing and can farm ANY type of damage farm at +4/x8, and laugh in the face of anything short of hamidon (untyped un-resist-able damage). If they ever release an incarnate slot that gives defense/resistance to untyped damage . . . .
Oh and with Incarnate abilities a fire/fire/fire dom can tear things up without fear of face-planting. -
*looks at the old dead horse*
could to see people more polite and calmer than me answered this definitely.
Also lol at using 8 fire/rads as a balance point. THAT is beyond...
I'll keep it nice as I've been getting a lot of mod comments lately in my pm box.
LOL.
So in short no, powers that can only be used from lvl 45-50 DO NOT make Blasters superflous. The game doesn't start at 50. -
And here in this thread we see that there ARE some folks who completly hated the style of pre-I13 pvp.
I don't think the devs can ever get pvp right as there will always be some who just fundamentally DO NOT like hopping around like a bunny on crack.
Also currently the counters to folks running away that Xan posted are completely loltastic in the age of "Phase shift and Hibernoob every time you take significant damage." All those counters only work on complete noobs.
With that said I still say Heal Decay and Travel Suppression need to go or at least be adjusted. I'm one of the ones that DO LIKE everyone running around like a bunny on crack. Why? Cause we are SUPERHEROES/VILLAINS. It should NOT be easy to kill us. You want a kill off a superpowered person, you need to WORK for it. If it were easy to kill us then we wouldn't be superpowered beings, we'd be regular joe schmoe. Pre-I13 movement ability and full healing made that realistic.
Travel suppression I can see being needed in SOME cases for the very reasons some folks posted. Heal Decay? NO, it was not necessary for any reason. It just took out healers from zone play. As was pointed out the time you are taking to "time out your heals" is time that your other team mates are dying and there is nothing you as a healer can do about it. -

Everyone knows they are dictators.
They are tolerated, cause the keep everyone safe from the hamidon.
people in Prae would rather live under a dictatorship than deal with the creatures of the hami. -

Quote:I personally think the new one looks terribad. This looks decent, but the other Victorian face, which I much prefer; I couldn't do anything to cover up those bright red lips.
The old one looked more realistic.
The new one looks like a creature that's strung out on crack cocaine.
You're mileage may vary.
EDIT: They should have had a version without makeup. More options for all. -
I think we've got some great responses to the OP.
For me I love the game. Still, after 6 years.
Does that mean I won't complain about certain things that are BAD or terrible repeatedly and vehemently. No.
As I've said before when I stop posting criticisms at all, is when you can expect I've already unsubbed. If you aren't getting criticisms from posters who are unhappy it means:
a) they are happy with some things happening.
b) they no longer care. That's the time you need to watch out for them unsubbing.
I really don't know what the OP is talking about. I don't find any of the posters from the last year since I18 to be bitter, angst ridden or whatever silly word you want to call them.
They don't hate the game. They are just giving feedback in the way you OP also do: bluntly.
If they hated the game you wouldn't see their posts. They would just unsub. -
I really don't think they need to do anything. The server queues which would pop up IF Virtue/Freedom get overloaded would be incentive enough for newbies to make alts on the less stressed servers.
As Memphis Bill suggested, I don't agree AT ALL that it's guaranteed that everyone will gravitate towards freedom and virtue. -
Quote:I think they mean passive powers like +% of hp, +% of damage, or the attribute buffs that Arcanaville mentioned earlier in the thread.Just because you take the powers doesn't mean you have to explain them as Incarnate powers in your concept. As far as roleplaying goes, I would consider it downright stupid to "refuse" to do Incarnate content because it doesn't fit your concept. If it doesn't fit, make it fit. My Stalker has Pyronic judgment. He has no fire powers. I pretend it's an incendiary bomb. Problem solved.
I completely disagree. Passive powers are no fun. I want more clicky clicky boom boom. Keep in mind all of the Incarnate content is optional, so... if you don't want more tray powers, you don't have to take them. I only fill 6 of my trays on most of my 50s and that's including all of my temp power crap that I could easily remove if I needed to, but I doubt I'll ever have need considering I have 3 more trays that are empty. I have to wonder, though, if you think you have a lot of crap taking up room... have you ever played a tri-form Kheldian?
I'd have to think about some stuff before putting any of it in writing. One thing I am pretty sure we'll get though is a second level shift from tier 3+ Omega, which will be nice.
What I'd REALLY like to happen with the next batch of Incarnate powers is for the devs to allow Incarnate level characters to begin a Task Force without a team. It really is quite inconvenient trying to get 5 other people to come to Cimerora and keeping one of them on the team, (or having them log out), while you solo an ITF. I get that Task Forces were never meant to be soloed, but that's kinda the point, isn't it? Characters were never meant to be this powerful... but they are, and as long as they are, and considering the fact that people CAN and WILL do it regardless despite the inconvenience, why not just LET US?
I would rather the next slot or two have a few of those. I have enough powers. -
Quote:Well explained. Actually I would rather they be chagned from AOE to AOE. I would be HIHGLY annoyed if shift and bh were changed to knockdowns.I didn't read his post as that. But regardless, I think when it comes to making changes to powers you have to look at their basic intent and not their particular methods of delivering that intent.
If a power is meant to provide damage, then revising/replacing it with something that also does damage is okay.
Changing it so that it's now a heal or a control or a defense shield, should not be okay.
To me, that's the 'cottage rule'.
That said, powers like Dim Shift, Black Hole, sonic cage, and detention field could (and should) be replaced by new powers that have the same intent (AoE or ST control) and nobody would get upset. If the intent of those powers is to take a target or targets out of a fight so they cannot fight back, then any sort of control that does the same without making the target intangible would be an adequate (and superior) replacement. For instance, if sonic and FF had a hold instead of the cage nobody would complain. If Dim Shift and BH were replaced with a long duration knockdown (for example), nobody would be upset.
Seriously, is there anyone out there that prefers making a target intangible to hard controlling it for the same duration?
As you said as long as the AOE is kept as an AOE, hold kept as hold, damage kept as damage, I have no issue. And that is the cottage rule in VERY simplified form. -
Quote:There is a reason we have FIVE powers in some PPPs and APPs. At one time the devs DID try to completely change some powers. It was the whining from the "vocal minority" that changed their minds and added the changes as new powers. I recall that it was around the time of I13 beta.Really? You think a ton of people would get up in arms because the devs decided to change a power that nobody even takes anyways? "Oh no, don't change Dimensional Shift! It's bad enough they changed the Sonic graphics to not cause severe migraines after years of complaints, NOW how will I grief my teammates!?"
Good thing that's not what I said then. I did not say "random reason" and I think you definitely did misunderstand that. But if people have any faith in the devs, there should be no need for some "rule" that tells them what they can do with existing powers. I have enough faith in them to know that they wouldn't completely change an existing power unless it was truly in need of change, and I wouldn't call that random or arbitrary.
Not to mention that I13 completely changed how pvp functions. And seeing as how there is nearly a non existent pvp pop, I'd say the changes were bad. The devs aren't infallible.
Yeah I have faith in the devs. But not blind faith. -
Quote:I think you and bill are saying the same thing. For the two powers he mentions, YES suggestions WERE actually made to change them from being AOE controls into something 180 degrees different. I and many others DON'T agree with that. This is completely off-base. The example from changing the PPPs is totally different from changing something like Dimension Shift.
For mace mastery (your example), replacing an AoE blast with a person Def power is a 180 degree change and yes, should not be done (obey the cottage rule). But replacing Dim Shift (an AoE control) with New Power X (an AoE control) would not and should not be barred based on some 'cottage rule' as the spirit of the power remains the same. The reason to use Dim Shift is to take several targets out of a fight for a limited amount of time. This same effect could be achieved using a newly designed power that people would actually take. With the example of the mace mastery potential switch, the devs were replacing an AoE damage power (something doms had little access too with their secondaries) with an individual defense buff. That completely would have violated the original intent of the AoE dmg power... to provide more damage to multiple targets... and taken away that damage potential to replace it with a personal survival tool that 'phased' the dominator out of action while PFF was active.
Replacing Dim Shift with another AoE control would NOT violate any sort of cottage rule and your comparing such an idea with the PPP potential changes (and rightful outrage at the thought) is an apples to oranges situation. -
Quote:I don't agree that changing it from a mez would only be opposed by a vocal minority. So what? You gotta pick at me for not reading every post in the thread because I happened to agree with Arcanaville on one particular point without realizing it? Or pick at parts of my post that are irrelevant to the main point in order to distract people? Arcanaville said the same thing a few pages back... how, exactly, does that invalidate my repetition of it? I was and am fully aware that Arcanaville knew of the origins of the "cottage rule". There isn't really much about this game that Arcanaville doesn't know, but that doesn't mean I have to agree with everything. Even despite said post the argument seemed to be that it was good to have some sort of preventative design rule, though in Arcanaville's own words, the supposedly existing "cottage rule" is not actually a rule at all.
I don't think there needs to be any "rule" or "restriction" on completely changing certain powers. If people want to argue that it's better to compromise and attempt to appeal to everyone possible by adding extra effects to existing powers or keeping the old primary effects as secondary effects or whatever, then I guess we'll just agree to disagree. There are certainly cases where that works fine. But then there are cases that I don't think it would work at all. How do you keep a phase effect on Black Hole or Dimensional Shift while also making it a good power? Heck, how do you keep it as some form of mez without stepping on toes of the rest of the set? I am sure there could be some ideas put forward for the latter, and I'd like to see them, but I'd also be totally cool with changing these kinds of powers so that they aren't mezes at all. There will be a vocal minority that are opposed to it, but you don't always HAVE to appeal to vocal minorities.
I COMPLETELY disagree that the devs should take up the rule that they can arbitrarily change any power into basically any other random power for any random reason. I truly hope I misunderstood you (and others) and that's NOT really what you're advocating. Cause that would be full of EPIC FAIL. -

EvilRyu is cute.
Wrong as hell about what /regen can or can't do.
But still cute.
-
Yeah not willing to take any bets (haven't kept up my inf farming in weeks), but I'd say the magic 8 ball points to Dark Regen NO WAY IN HELL being a part of it for blasters.
A watered down power that is no way near as strong as the REAL Dark Regen and retains similarity only in name? sure. -
Quote:Just want to say I agree with the above. This idea that blasters fall over if you breath too hard on them I always found silly. Having played EVERY stalker to at least 30 now, (yes I'm serious) I don't find them nearly as bad in teaming or solo as some hyperbole slingers claimed. I find some of the comments made about both ATs to be absolutely ridiculous.Originally Posted by Grey Pilgrim;3733449Not quite sure what you mean by existing, but Stalkers should not have issues completing any content. They're fine solo, and I've tanked for small teams with my Nin Stalker.
My Blaster can undoubtedly clear mobs of minions faster than the Stalker, but that's as should be. The Stalker still is going to be able to deal with more damage being thrown at him, as should be as well.
To add my own two cents about the cottage rule, I honestly do not understand why people despise it so much. I can only think it's a misconception of how it works. It doesn't keep the developers from adjusting powers to work better, it gives design consistency and also reminds developers how drastic changes tend to tick off people you didn't even realize would be ticked off. People are annoyed about some of the EA changes, even though it's overall a buff to the set. Same thing happened when they suggested removing Ancillary powers that "no one takes." That one fell on its face.
Stop with the hate folks, it's an effective design philosophy.
Some of the statements in this thread even. Like the one alluding to stalkers not being able to complete content when compared to blasters. LMAO. NO.
I think Arcanaville summed that situation and the one with the cottage rule up fine. -
Quote:Agreed. No, I was being completely serious. Even if you do those things, you still have no idea if you're going to get to do anything or not. It's like magic or something, except without the anything-happening part. Just the waiting part. I've never successfully gotten the queue to do anything but raise my blood pressure.
Bingo. Broadcast is SOOOO much simpler.

Quote:*looks at shelf of various unfinished games including DA:O*What's funny about that is about the same time I got CoH, I also picked up Crysis. To this day, Crysis* has yet to be installed.
