Oh, maybe I'm just hallucinating the subject line that he wrong that states "FORCED TEAMING MAKES ME SAD"..... I wouldn't be opposed to removing the minimum entry requirement, but you'd still have people complaining that it requires a team to successfully complete it. Hell, you get those same complaints in that "other" MMO, too.
They just slapped a raid label on it. The Winter lord event is not any harder than last year. In which 8 players were VERY able to complete it.

The title and what's in the actual content of the op (and thread) is misleading.

I'd have no issue if it remained 8 to start.

MY OWN MAIN issue is that it's locked behind the atrociousTUT interface/system. Which is a terrible tool for multi team content. For various reasons I've stated before.

Amusingly, certain other mammoth MMOs that shall remain nameless are actually less restrictive, allowing you to enter "team only" content alone if you want. Sure, you'll probably get creamed if you don't vastly out-level the content, but you can. Personally, I don't see a reason to put a hard minimum on any content.

That said, the LFG tool probably needs a hard minimum as it stands right now. Otherwise it'd keep dumping you alone into team content, if there's not enough people in the queue.
Yep, which for the Winter Event could be 8.

But..they're...not.... I don't get why adding some team-required content = "discouraging they way you've played the game for seven years". It's not discouraging anything.
Again a completely irrelevant tangent and discussion.

    Once again the original op:

We'll do the Winter Event once for the badge but will probably view it as a chore rather than take pleasure in it.

    ----------------

He's not complaining about teaming. He's complaining about the high minimum of the Winter Event, which it NEVER needed.

The Event has been completed in the past with 8. It should have stayed that way.

You get plenty of mileage out of forms from levels 1-50 and on cheap builds/lack of build.

I see no reason for forms to be turned into something that they're not. I feel like the suggestion quoted in the last post is more a desire for an aesthetic change for Peacebringers, and there's a simple solution for HEAT's to be distinguishable: Give us teh Kheld sash!
General comment: As someone who has had BOTH types of khelds since the beginning I'm gong to say NO to anything that changes their animations or the general way they look.

I LOVE the way they look.

And NO I DO NOT need my PB's forms to be better at end game it's not necessary. It's not just IOs that help now in the endgame. There's this little thing called INCARNATE ABILITIES. Which apply to Dwarf and Nova. Also keep in mind next year we will be seeing new abilities/slots.

Also having perma lightform from 39-40 to 50 is not most of the game. The game is 50 levels, most of the game would be from 25.

40-50 are still relatively quick compared to the 30s, especially with the lack of content in the 30s.

EDIT: Just so I'm not accussed of being completely unhelpful, I'll suggest this:

Let the Incarnate abilities scale down to level 35 for the FORMS only.

And I'd argue you all are in the minority vs the rest of the Incarnate trail running playerbase.

Anything that gets people ACTUALLY EXCITED to be running Keyes is a good thing.

Trials that are too long and tedious piss people off, and waiting a couple months to see it fixed is not good, because it sets up a ton of preconceived notions that people then have to fight in order to get the inevitable revamps to be looked at with something other than scorn by players.

Delay media blitz. Delay mother mayhem. Get them right. I'll be happy running keyes with people who never got a chance to see it and can enjoy it now. I'll get my badges, i'll get drops i can use on shiny new powers, and i'll have a great weekend.

I quite enjoyed being a 'tourist' in areas of space that were branded high-risk etc, just to go see the cool things that were there (The monolith from 2001, awesome asteroid belts, forgotten wrecks etc). I did get ganked by NPC pirates and other players, but since I was warned that might happen, I had no cause for complaint.

    Eco.
I too don't see the relevance of bringing up other mmos. If I gave a rat's a%$ about what other mmos did in terms of teaming vs soloing, I'd be playing them and not COH.

    AKA useless tool is useless.
  10. Fix it back to what it was originally and give those who want to get rid of it the option to have Null the Gull eliminate their OWN kb.
  11. All this team vs no team is an foolish tangent that has nothing to do with the main point.

Which is that minimum can reasonably be lowered to 8 on LFG the Holiday content without hurting anything, AND that they CAN keep the old way of starting the even without hurting anything.
  12. The game (even with the parts I complain about) is 10x better than it was a year ago.

Whew, sorry! Just slightly baffled that anyone is calling this a lame release.
Which was more original point that some folks missed.

    3. Have each Incarnate Trial unlock one aspect only and then run this same trial to get a slot filled automatically for that aspect of whatever reward you need in order.

    4. Have other Trials give a reward roll for aspects not of that type to get a chance to fill for another aspect.

    5. Have normal level 50 content give threads just like it currently gives shards and remove shards from the game. Credit all held shards as threads one for one.

Now you have a fast route to fill each type running that Trial and a slower route - even solo running normal content or other level 50 Trials.
Not just no, but HELL FREAKING NO to number 1. Worst suggestion ever.

2-5 are good, but number 1 should NEVER be done.

Using the Incarnate system as advertised should not be an automatic retroactive nerf to anyone running current non-incarnate content. that would be seen as the biggest bait and switch in a loooong time.

    terrible suggestion.

What I am seeing is a gravitation toward the power gamer instead of the casual gamer.

Just remember, "When Everyone is Super, No one is."
Form your own team of regular lvl 50s. Problem solved. You can say ahead of time this is a no-Incarnate ability team.

Whether you find anyone willing to do that is another issue.

People need to realize that folks WANT to make their 50s more powerful. For some folks that was ALSO the entire point of IO'ing out.

I'd argue its because they don't want to stand around with their thumbs up their behinds for an unknown amount of time, with no further way to enter any instances, and no way to know how many are in the queue and no way to know that ACTUAL REALISTIC start times of those event.

In short form they'd rather not waste their valuable playtime with a useless tool.

Stopped right there. The problem in a nutshell is once again the limitations of the team up teleporter and LFG system.

They need to FIX THAT and other issues before shoehorning more content into it.

Let's get a more functional pug multi team tool before trying to shoehorn in more pug multi team content.

Run regular content? Incarnate powers are toned down. Still strong, yes, still worth the effort, yes, but toned down. Highest rewards are shards and merits.

If, say, half (or more) of the team have Incarnate slots unlocked, the "Incarnate level" option becomes available. Incarnate powers run at full blast, but the enemies are more (not hideously more, but more) resistant, or have a "level shift" of their own of a level, or their buffs/debuffs are stronger, and they can get up to threads dropping (or whatever's felt to be appropriate.)

Incarnate content, of course (Apex/Tin Mage and trials) of course are as they are now.
You still run into the issue for half the team NOT WANTING to do Incarnate level content. I think people need to start forming their tfs and teams by specifically stating what they want or don't want.

Don't want to make that ITF a cakewalk, then actively ADVERTISE that said tf will be without incarnate powers.

Ofcourse that involves folks forming their own tfs/teams. And folks who are already 50 wanting to do that.

If upping the difficulty gave a significant shift in rewards or even (perish the thought) dropped threads instead of shards, there might be some interest at running at that difficulty. As it is, the people I have encountered only want to race through it for the merits or kerbstomp as many white conning minions as possible for shard drops.
    Because people have lives.

If someone has banked an hour or two to do a tf ahead of making dinner, or before starting more chores, they aren't going to join something that will take 3-4 hours. So yeah they are going to go for the cakewalk tf.

I swear some folks think people have infinite time to play the game.

I see it coming up in discussions about the iTrials also, when folks don't consider FORM time as part of the reason some trials aren't done.

    It's getting irritating.
