The two best new things in CoH

back to CoH after a year of being gone. I was worried the game would be old and tired, but I was wrong. It feels fresher and more fun now than it did a year ago.

1st - being able to play any AT as hero/villain. I never liked redside but liked trying their AT's. Now I can play what I want and still be a hero (apparently Tanker, Corruptor, and Dominators are my thing).

2nd - the story content. From Atlas Park to First Ward - CoH finally has real stories rather than just bookends of text on defeat all missions. It feels like they wrote stories and then came up with the missions that fit them, rather than the reverse. The characters are interesting (especially in Twinshot's arcs), your achievements matter (in that the world is changed). They are fun to go through - I actually want to experience the stories not just explore the maps.

I now actually log-in and have to decide if I want to look for a team, or play solo and check out the stories.

Hear, hear! I used to go through fairly regular periods of waxing and waning interest in CoH but since issue 18 or so they've had my undivided attention. The SSAs in particular are deviously appealing on a number of levels.

The game (even with the parts I complain about) is 10x better than it was a year ago.
