It's not a lure at all.

The devs didn't BUILD in incentives to go blue.

People are going blue because the BM sucks and there is no population redside to get the volume needed so that the BM doesn't suck.

The fact that there is a lower population reside has nothing to do with with the devs having built any incentives to play blue. It has to do with many other reasons, including:
    1. many folks not wanting to play villains no matter what (this alone will ALWAYS contribute to a smaller redside).
    2. many folks not liking the color scheme, dreariness, and arcs (some folks openly state their hatred of Westen Phipps, among others) of the redside.
    3. Many folks hate the "arachnos is the overarching 'invisible arm' that extends into EVERYTHING redside".

I can go on. The point is the devs didn't build lures into blueside to get people to play blue.

People for whatever reason just DON'T like redside, just like they don't like pvp.

So therefore there is no magic pony solution that will bring volume to redside. The only REAL solution is the one they refuse to do: MERGE. THE. DAMN. MARKETS.

EDIT: Also there ARE NO INFLATED rewards blueside. That's just silly.

You can make more inf REDSIDE due to the shortages in supply. I've done it multiple times now. It just takes sooooo much longer when you are trying to BUY something.

It'd be nice if the items in the "all" tab were color-coded like the old system so I could tell at a glance which ones where selling, bidding, bought, sold, or just sitting there, instead of having to stop and look at each item to check its status. The ability to use the left-hand lists (recipes, salvage, enhancements, etc.) as sort filters instead of search starters is a necessary change because their current function is completely different than how they used to work. After I've done a search (say, for Thunderstrike pieces) and want to narrow them down to just enhancements, I have to scroll through the list of results to find the enhancements - I can't click "enhancements" on the left side of the window, or it starts an entirely new and unrelated search.
These things mac listed, especially the "save the last feature" need to be killed with fire.

I haven't lost inf to that . . . "feature" yet. But I can imagine more and more folks RAGING when they do.

We've already had a 1.5 billion error posted elsewhere on the forums related to it.

Chalk me up for 'prefered the old UI, even if it was a three legged mule.' It worked. Why change the bit that worked great to fix the one thing (albeit the thing that was very crippling for people with slower connections, I know it used to be the same for me) that didn't work?

Devs, please...can we have this changed back?
My question is was it possible to fix the crippling lag and load-all-of-wents/BM-at-once-while-you-pull-you-f#@$ing-hair-out bug WITHOUT re-creating the entire interface?

Cause I'm really wanting to know WHY we needed an entire UI re-write.

And just to chime in and add, that YEAH what they FIRST showed in beta for the UI would have had people bashing their heads on their keyboards and /facepalming with their screens. It was A LOT worse people.

EDIT: The UI is . . . usable. However, I now dread having to go to the market. It takes ENTIRELY too long to search for things. Some things are just unintiutive and are a bad change.

One specific example: You could click any word in the old interface and it's nested lists would open up. Now you have to VERY specifically click on the + and - sign to open and collapse nested lists. I thought this was just a bug in beta. Turns out its a feature? BWAH?!? NO. Just no.

Wouldn't this work out then? If there is something equivalent to a Luck of the Gambler or Numina proc that you can only get redside, then you would have people going redside to get them, or buying from those who went redside to get them. In your terms, you will have buyers/sellers/drop producers moving to redside. You will also have buyers who will be forced to buy specifically from villains if they want a certain item. What am I missing here?
The problem is that we don't know how long it will take to switch sides. From what I've read so far it will be anything but fast. So seeing how long it will take to go redside then back to blue will already be a disincentive.

Also the devs have said you DON'T take your inf with you when you switch sides. Go blue, you lose you influence. Go red, you lose your infamy.

You get it back when you come back, however, it's yet another disincentive to switch sides. So I think the only thing unique side items would do is to encourage people to START OFF playing on that side, which you don't need GR to do.

EDIT: So therefore even if you did switch just for the unique item, you'd STILL need to farm to have the necessary funds to get said item. Thus an EVEN LONGER grind than necessary. The only way it would work is if the side switching is VERY fast. Which it WON'T be.

Lures like that are NOT a good idea, as it often breeds resentment and unncessary arguments within the playerbase. See badges, temp powers, and pvp zones.

Careful. You'll be told soon that you have no say in what the forum reps turn off or on.

Even though you were here for the idiocy of the star system and how they eventually turned it off, on the old forums.

    THIS!

I never got why some folks broadcast their farming missions.

Pretty stupid if you ask me.

    LOL!
  10. I too am not liking the new interface.

One question I have is, was there really a large clamoring for changing the interface in the first place? Why the change? Was it necessary for GR?

I thought the outcry was for stuff like dealing with the lack of items redside, the high prices, and for merging the markets.

I really don't remember many saying that the interface outright needed a re-do, but then again I'm getting older.

*scratches head in confusion about the need for a change*

EDIT: With that said it's not 100% unusable. It just needs work.

    VEATs and HEATs

Interesting. Surprsing that the OP didn't come back to the thread.

    (yes, that was sarcasm).

If he did he would see how WRONG he is.

Lowering it to lvl 20 was genius. GG devs.

  16. Honestly, I think that just a change of tone for many of the contacts would do wonders, and it would be a lot easier. We would just like a little more:

    Quote:
Oh, hey! I know who YOU are! Listen, I got a line on something I just KNOW you're going to love.
    and a little less:

    Quote:
YOU THERE! MINION! FETCH ME MY COFFEE AND A BAGEL!
    ---------------

I was wrong, the ABOVE from M_I_Abrahms wins the thread.

Funny enough, THIS was the main objection about the FIRST version of the Barracuda SF, and was subsequently changed (contact text RE-WRITTEN) when beta testers complained about it.
  17. Sam just won the thread, as far as I'm concerned.

The heavy handedness of Arachnos is pretty much one of the reasons why more folks don't play villainside. Also the VEAT arc once again pigeonholes you into Arachnos and the silly DESTINED ONES RP setting. Story is pretty much the one of the main advantages that the EATs have over the VEATs.

Also when they were first developing the Barracuda SF MANY people who played it in beta complained LOUDLY that once again they were being treated like lackies in arachnos. So loudly that the story was changed to make you an equal to the main villain players in it (trying not to spoil it for those who still haven't played it. )

I'm sorry but other than it being what Jack Emmert wanted, there is absolutely NO REASON why Arachnos (and Longbow for that matter) has to dominate all content redside.

Also, another point: Heroes do nothing but get to level 41 to unlock their later level powers. No silly rp, no silly person to learn them from, nada.

I'm still wondering why villanside doesn't work like this.
  18. Isn't it great that there is a full list of changes to various things in the mission architect so that authors know that they should check their arcs . . . oh wait.

My point without the biting sarcasm: If something changes in the architect that will cause authors to have to check their arcs, IT SHOULD BE IN THE PATCH NOTES!!!

I think many others have said this multiple times BEFORE, so I'll just leave it at that.

Which is why they should fill it up with items to get a real test going, the next time they do want to test the market.

They've done it before in a past closed betas.

EDIT: Also someone else in another thread pointed out that there really should have been in a bit more focused market testing in beta.
