Quote:And what pray tell do you expect the pvers to do about it?Exactly. Most of the reasonable members of the community left in short order. All that's left are trolls and those hopeful that changes will be coming.
It is. The devs get <$#!%> from PvPers constantly. Not just the devs most of the NcSoft employees do whenever they make themselves available. During live chats and in-game events its terribly noticeable. During the first free server transfers there was a pvp event on the champion server. I went over there to participate and Niv showed up to participate as well. In the first round she had to have been killed 40 times. I'm not exaggerating it was 8v8 in an office map, she was dead before she could move.
It's the "you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem" mentality. Enough strictly PvE players come over to the PvP boards saying things along the lines of "You got what you deserved" that the community has little tolerance for PvE players with similar mentalities. Many PvE players who were not able to be competitive in pvp or badgers who were upset about being attacked in pvp zones taunted PvPers when their aspect of the game was ruined. Now most PvPers have adopted that sentiment.
If we were all children the PvPers are the kids that act up to get attention. The Devs are the bullies who steal the PvPers candy, but are too big for the kids to do anything about it. The PvEers who don't say anything about it and ignore PvP are the ones who watch the kids get bullied but don't say anything about it because its not their business. If I had my candy taken and you turned a blind eye, I wouldn't be much happy with you either.
Quit? When the pvpers won't? That makes NO LOGICAL SENSE WHATSOEVER. As I said before MANY a pver also complained after testing the proposed I13 changes that they sucked. Yet (I feel like a ******* broken record) they too were ignored. THAT somehow keeps getting glossed over by many (notice I didn't say all) pvpers.
The pvers taunting are idiots. However the ones who say NOTHING about because they don't care about pvp most definitely do not need or deserve the stupidity often pointed their way.
Let me put it another way, bases haven't had anything done with them for a long time. Yet you don't see base lovers attacking pvers for "not saying anything". The logic that it's okay to be mad at someone who had NO CONTROL over an aspect of the game and don't comment on it cause they aren't interested is silly to me.
It's okay to not care about a certain aspect of the game. If everyone ******* about parts of the game they don't use, have no interest in, just to *****, there'd be threads as long as 100+ pages on every page and a lot of folks with indigestion. It also wouldn't make sense since the only ones who have control over ANYTHING in this game are the devs. Period.
EDIT: To turn your analogy right back at you, if I saw you getting bullied and having your candy taken away, I'd go to a teacher. Except in this case the teacher and the bully taking your candy are on and the same. The teacher would just smile and say "it builds character, trust me I know what I'm doing". soooooo, there isn't much that either of us could do besides walk off the playground. However, I LIKE the playground despite the bullying.
To bring back to game terms, it'd be like pvers who don't like pvp, don't care about pvp, quitting over something they have no care about. you quitting makes perfect sense. A pver over something they never cared about and don't like? LOLWUT? -
Quote:I would have quit. No need to stay on and attack other players for something they had no control over.
Admittedly PvP was not perfect prior to I13. PvP was very close to the PvE game. Now it is a completely different game. Powers don't work the same, and complete understanding of the system requires knowledge of calculus. If the developers changed the part of the game that you most enjoyed, then promised you that they would continue to work on it and refine it; how would you feel? After nearly 2 years would you be malicious?
Being malicious DOES NOT get anyone on your side. Especially not other players in the playerbase. -
Quote:If find this interesting since in many previous debates about pvp, pvers were told to shut up because they don't pvp. This was especially true when the first debates about power proliferation was going on and the discussion about Psionic Blasters started.Unadulterated malice no. We should all be for the betterment of the game and for the devs to work with us to help us enjoy the game as it should make sense, not to nullify ATs and certain builds outright from play in whatever form you choose to participate. I'm all for change to make things more balanced which can add a degree of difficulty but it has to make sense in the big scheme of things.
What goes around comes around, people don't want to voice their opinion to help raise awareness about player related issues that actually do affect us all or outright call the ones asking for SOME kind of feedback (which hasn't been given in two years) crybabies. I'm all for fixing things, I don't base raid but for a few times and I think it's a shame that the ones who loved to do so can no longer do it, there's a lot of issues that need addressed and rather than saying "Oh well it's over there in PvP land, not my concern" maybe people should speak up because wouldn't you want others to speak up for you if the shoe were on the other foot?
You're up to bat PvE'rs, hope the devs don't bean you with a 100 mph fastball too.
Why all of a sudden now do pvpers care what pvers think?
If you want folks to speak up for you perhaps you shouldn't do everything in your power to alienate them. Just saying.
EDIT: Also during the I13 testing MANY folks (/em raises hand) DID speak up about how craptacular I13 was, and how it made the pvp and pve games further divergent. We were also soundly ignored by the devs. They were hellbent on trying out this new pvp system to bring in new pvpers. There was nothing ANYONE could do to change that.
EDIT2: Also keep in mind some people LIKED (and still do) the I13 system, and said so. THAT feedback is also taken into account whether those of us who don't like I13, like it or not. -
Quote:As has been pointed out the dialogue often does NOT indicate that at all. That's working as intended. The hellions are having a drug deal, and the one selling the drugs always 'runs'. Defeating him before he can get to a 'safe spot' (aka, before he loses agro and starts walking back to his spawn point) will get you a bit of extra influence.
That's been in the game since launch.
Oftens they say stuff like they are going to fight you.
Also unless I'm mistaken at certain points the mob ran just by Leo's character walking close to him.
This surely can't be WAI. Sorry.
good job again Leo
EDIT: Also this:
"Note: even if it is scripted... why? I can see a good reason for one in the group to run away if they were facing a big group or a player several levels above him... but 4 vs. 1, and two levels above me? Does not sound like a very smart script. It would also make more sense if the runner was of a different gang (his Hellion buddies won't think very high of him now), or if he ran into a door to get help. The "Hellion Girlfriend" script in The Hollows is a lot better."
Even if it is WAI it's bloody stupid. -
Quote:As I said before I honestly don't think there is anything they could do to draw more pvpers. Doesn't mean they shouldn't try. That's my point. Pre-I13 PvP was at a crossroads- either do something drastic, hoping to increase participants, or let it continue to fade into obscurity, because it's a resource drain. They tried the drastic change and it failed.
It's now at the point where you have to seriously question the resources it demands. Setting things back to I13 just means spending resources on a aspect of play that brings marginal & diminishing value to the overall base just so it can continue being of marginal & diminishing value to the overall base.
We need to expand that relevance to convince the devs that it isn't wasted resources. Ironic as it sounds, we need to get more people to play the current system to encourage the devs to revisit it and CHANGE the current system.
Reverting to I12 is a good idea, but it wouldn't get any additional people to pvp.
Pvp isn't relevant to the future of this product. The game will do just fine no matter what they do with pvp, since most don't care about pvp.
So might as well just eat crow and revert back to I12. -
Quote:Seeing as how those mertis you get for not pvping, no it's really not part of the pvp package.apparently you would rather be on the trademark bandwagon than read, pay attention and think before you post.
point is mr. pot calling the kettle black, you look pretty "asinine" calling me "mr. troll" for complaining about a reward and game system then jumping threads and complain about a reward and game system.
i know you won't get it now so i will be patient from now on and let slide your trademark bandwagon insults because i have faith that you will eventually understand things 2 years later just like MB.
once they added pvp IO rewards to the hvam system it became a big part of this "asinine" pvp package.
Unless there is some new mysterious pvp mission that no one knows about in regards to the merit system.
And I'm not the one posting multiple threads that get locked. Amirite?Talk about not thinking before you post.

yeah this is the part folks keep glosing over. Even if you plan your build along the way for them, even if you respec into them, and even if you use the third build, the second you exemp all that building doesn't matter.

Quote:Possible for future ones. But of the first few we've seen, no. (Unless what is in alpha and was sneak peeked on test has changed that drastically)Is it not possible that one of the Incarnate Powers IS the granting of traditional slots?
Seeing as how there is only alpha in I19 and the rest are supposed to be "spread over issues" that would be a looooong wait if one of the Incarnate slots grants traditional slots. -
Quote:I think this is what blaster nukes were in part meant to represent.
All of that said, I would still take static combat if it meant seriously amazing scope and scale of powers. Final Fantasy 7, again, is a good example of this. Though battles there consist of people standing around for the most part, the kind of explosions, monsters and magic that gets brought to bear on the battlefield is staggering. I mentioned the Bahamut before, but that's the first of three, the others being Bahamut Zero who parts the sky and Neo Bahamut who shoots a death ray FROM SPACE. I'm sure amazing explosions can and probably have been mixed together with more dynamic combat. In fact, I dare say that Praetorians in general do a pretty damn fine job of this, especially the heavier Clockwork and the ACUs and BCUs. The effects they are given are just AMAZING.
I don't have an issue with seeing stuff like what you mentioned in fighting every once in a while.
Not. Every. Friggin. Fight.
What you don't mention is that the animations for those summons in the FF series are INCREDIBLY frustratingly long. In many of those games I felt that i was standing around doing nothing while a movie played. if I wanted to watch a movie I'd go watch one.
it's one of my issues with Dual Pistols. You spend a major part of the time (especially with the later powers) dancing around doing flashy stuff.
I'd rather just kill and move on. it's one of the sets I hope gets alternate animatins. -

????
*scratches head*
Why not just bring SD to stalkers? -
Quote:Pretty much agree. The Incarnate system may not bring more slots, but depending on what you want out of it, it can free up previously unavaliable slots. You can replace slotting across the board with an Incarnate Boost, freeing a slot of it per power if you wanted to.
So, yes, I agree. -
Quote:Also for more information you didn't need to respec, once you opened the Alpha slot a THIRD build was opened. So you could just keep your two other builds and rebuild using the third one.No I wasn't. You can easily choose to plan your build ahead of time and put normal and incarnate slots where they will be most effective. So if you are going to slot your alpha with a global end redux you can use the normal slots that you'd normally fill with end redux to boost your Stamina.

Quote:pretty much this. folks need to realize that the dev side of the NCSOFT equation may not be able to say anything at all.I am not. When there is nothing good to say, it is better to say nothing at all. You have to remember those who make this stuff are fellow gamers. They may like it even less than we do, but are not allowed to say.
The suits who make the rules may not be fellow gamers, and have no clue as to what a gamer really wants. They are the ones who make the rules in the end though. :/
I will admit I am still undecided. I have a few extra dollars this week, and I have been wanting new dance emotes for years. I DO think there should have been a costume piece in there though.
i don't blame them for the silence. My ire is squarely targetted at the marketing side. -

Quote:You're assuming folks want purples. They may just want the INF to get OTHER stuff from the market.LOL, sucks for those that actually want the purps to slot. By the sound of it, most just look to raise the value so they can sell for more. I reallly don't understand the mentality of it. What good is all that inf? Really, not flaming, just asking? Just to build it up, then what?
Folks complaining about purple prices have even LESS sympathy from me, seeing as how there is ANOTHER option to get them now. -
Quote:Also THIS.Unless something changes from what was leaked on test, only 2 of the first 5 Incarnate slots modify powers (alpha worked as a global enhancement and one of the others added a proc effect to most attacks) and none of them exemp down at all. They aren't going to effect much of the existing content so I really can't see them as a solution to "under slotted" level 47/49 powers.
Bottom line: better to nip the idea that Incarnates is somehow more traditional slots , powers, and levels, cause it's not. I'd rather that be clear than have folks be disappointed and ***** at the devs as they usually do when they get misinformation.
This is all subject to change if the devs decided to completely revamp the ALPHA slot. -
Quote:The last time the ALPHA slot was in Closed BETA, only ONE thing could be slotted into it from a list of craftable buffs. And again I don't think anyone was technically claiming that Incarnate slots = regular slots.
But because Incarnate slots are going to affect all powers globally anything slotted into them will improve all powers, even the 47/49 ones. This is why even though I'm not against the idea of getting more regular slots I ultimate don't think A) were going to need them or B) the game would be balanced for them regardless.
People have been wanting more regular slots for our highest level powers for years.
Clearly the Incarnate system is going to be the answer for that.
It might not quite be the "answer" we were looking for, but it's the "answer" the Devs are giving us for that.
So if you slotted end redux in it it will globally affect all powers, but then you couldn't slot the global recharge. Also for resistance it only affected powers that GAVE resistance, such as the sheild.
that's not quite the same as the "more slots" that folks had in mind. With all that said this may changed when the re-intro the ALPHA SLOT (Which I think is the only slot coming in I19).
With that said I don't agree or disagree with them giving us more regular slots. -
FF is a great set. It most certainly is NOT the worst set. Anything that prevents me from getting hit, it's worst in any category, shape or form.
I'd rather have a bubbler than an empath on teams I form. -
Quote:I wouldn't assume we are getting powers the traditional way with the Incarnate System. And what was originally in closed beta did not give us more slots. If you heard different and we aren't getting incarnate slots then what are getting? More powers? If so that seems pretty useless without slots for them.
Besides why should the devs give us more slots just because Fitness gets made inherent? Khelds don't get more slots and they get access to a lot more powers when they unlock the Nova and Dwarf forms. Players just need to decide whats more important to them when assigning slots.
incarnate slots doesn't equal traditional slots. -
used to have nukes, respecced out of every one of them on EVERY toon that could get them.
I've found better things to take. -
Quote:Do you use Taunt to keep aggro on you? Have you done it with Ninja or Necro? I have to admit, Robot is the only MM I don't have over lvl 32 and I've never taken Taunt on my MM only because I don't like aggro on myself and I like to direct which target my pets attack.
By the way, has anyone tried soloing with a Dominator? Psionic Assault doesn't have very good range attacks.
Bwuhhhh?
Psionic assuault has very good attacks. Psi Scream, and the two single targets are pretty damn good.
