Its a pattern. Should show up on the lists along with options like 'blend' or 'diablo'. Select smooth/bare for the upper body and then on one of the options below it'll be in there. Ulterior is a texture and a pattern.

Double-XP? Sweeeeeeet.
I wonder if this will stack with the Patrol XP? 3.5% XP, mebbe?
[/ QUOTE ]
It doesn't...you still accumulate patrol xp that weekend, but it doesn't get applied...like when you're using the AE...but where'd you get the 3.5% number? 1.5 times 2 = 3. Normal XP(1) + Patrol XP(.5) + Additional from Double Normal XP(1) = 2.5. Assuming that % is supposed to be an 'x', that would be triple XP plus Patrol XP. That isn't going to happen. -

There is no getting them in the least amount of time.

Sure there is.
If I perhaps thought that Caregiver was a great one to start with, I might be interested to know that getting Midnighter next provides the Alchemist Accolade and that then picking up the Mortician will end this path at Archaeologist.
Or I good go Caregiver, then Professor for the Physician Accolade then either Architect for Master Architect Accolade or Intern for Scientist.
Mixed in would be recommendations for which Day Jobs and which Accolades have the optimum benefits for which kinds of characters.

Still takes 21 days per badge. Can't be faster. The list on the wiki tells you what power comes with what badges/accolades. Pretty easy to figure out which will be most useful for you character. -

Do you like to work on the weekend if you don't have to? They live and breathe this game throughout the week. Its their time off. But some still do anyways. Probably depends on what's going on and if they get an itch to check out the boards.

If you haven't used your freespec since it was given out several months ago, do you really NEED yet another one now? Between the respec trials, respec recipies, vet rewards, and as a last resort, purchasable respecs when you REALLY need it, because you didn't get an additional freespec that you aren't using this time around is no reason to throw a hissy fit.
Yes they said they will TRY and get a weeks notice for them. I have never seen anywhere that they said its official hard policy and they HAVE to give you a weeks notice. There is no way they could ALWAYS adhere to that anyways if an emergency patch comes up that warrants the distribution of them. You got Friday, Saturday and Sunday knowing its coming very very soon, plus the month that beta has been on test with big dominator changes, plus any additional time between issue 15 hitting test and when the last one was issued.
The freespecs are not meant to be a reward or bonus. Its the dev's way of being fair to existing customers when they make changes to how an existing toon's selected powers could interact with another. If you haven't used one from the last time, then obviously you didn't need it for that purpose since the last change and you still have it to use now. They didn't take anything away, just not give you additional things you aren't using as is. -

I just logged in. Freespecs were granted today. I guess we can consider the "7 days notice" theory dead at this point.

This (and the announcement being buried in the discussion forum) make me rather annoyed.

Thats why I read the Dev Digest and Community Digest posts under Developers Corner forums for new announcements. Rarely is there any consistency around them but you can see what officially has been said by any of the developers or community managers. -
[ QUOTE ]
How much trouble would it be to just send out a GMotD a few days before a new issue is going to drop to warn people to use up their freespecs? Niv posted her announcement sometime on Friday, why not just go ahead and send out an in-game message at the same time?
No, it's not a big deal, and it's not something I'm going to get all drama-queeny over, but if you're going to go to the trouble of announcing it at all, why limit it to the forums?
[/ QUOTE ]
Some people who didn't log in over the weekend would start complaining that they missed it cause they didn't play or read the forums and will start demanding an email and a phone call to make sure they don't miss their precious free respec. Whatever they do, someone is gonna miss the announcement and complain. Issue 15 has been in test for a month or so now. You knew it was coming. Its not hard to check the dev and community digest portions of the forum every once in a while to see what the devs have said. Plus, how badly did you need to use a respec if you haven't since the last one was pushed out already? -
If you needed to respec so bad that losing the new free one is a big deal to you, why didn't you use the one you had already? Its been a while since they issued one and its not like they are hard to come by.

Last Friday...at least implied that you need to use existing ones indicating they are about to issue new ones. -

Michael Jackson Booster Pack! New glove costume piece where it only has one glove on and the other is bare. LOL. New power: "Show me on the doll where..."
Sorry...in bad taste considering. But the thriller dance and moonwalk would be great new emotes. We could always use new dances. -
Everyone's client will have to have the same information in the game. Otherwise any new powersets or costumes added with an expansion or booster pack wouldn't be able to be seen by other people playing, like if someone was in Atlas Park with the hypothetical new powerset dual pistols, anyone who didn't have Going Rogue content in their client wouldn't be able to see you use your powers because they wouldn't have the needed graphics data for it.
So whenever Going Rogue comes out, an issue will come out with it that will include all of the new content for Going Rogue. In order to access certain aspects of it, like new powersets and costume pieces and zones, for one of your characters to use you'll have to apply the Going Rogue expansion code to the account that character is on. The only way they could have different content on each client was if Going Rogue was a completely separate game with no cross over whatsoever with the current CoH and CoV content, which would make switching sides VERY difficult to implement. -

Anyway we can change the music in Dark Astoria to Thriller as a tribute?

My guess is they realized after CoH had been out for a while and they started adding new task forces, mission contacts, and other things that they wanted to use these signature characters for more than just training. Now, if they ever decide that they want a Ms. Liberty Task Force, for example, they would have to come up with or move a NPC over in her place to be a trainer in addition to setting up her character's story. Having a generic long-bow as a trainer, similar to how they did the Vanguard Drill Sergeant, makes it easier to add content for the cool signature characters they have setup. Of if BABs decides he wants to play BABs one day, he can go to Galaxy City without causing a paradox.

Confirmation? This is the first i've heard of any speculation that the booster packs might come out before Going Rogue.
If you look at the timing of the booster releases, Cyborg came out with issue 13, Magic came out with issue 14, Science is in beta with issue 15, probably not too far of a stretch to think that science will be available when issue 15 is our or soon after. My guess is they are trying to piggy back the super booster content updates in with the issues. No reason (that I know of) that they couldn't between issues, just going on history here. My guess is issues 16 and 17 will both have boosters with them as well.
Whether or not all 5 for the origins will be out before Going Rogue depends on how long it takes Going Rogue to come out since no one official has said anything yet. They've said not issue 16, so its at least as long as issue 17, maybe longer. -
[ QUOTE ]
Not saying it would be the best idea for them; then again they did allow all the prestige sprints to be gained via vet. reward...so...there is a precedent.
[/ QUOTE ]
My understanding is that prestige sprints were part of the pre-order version of CoH, not something that they paid extra for, just paid early. Thats why they came in as vet rewards and is different from putting the boosters in as vet rewards. The devs have said that they won't put stuff available for free that people explicitly had to pay extra for (GvE, Valkryie, Wedding, Super Boostes, etc). -
[ QUOTE ]
I'm surprised to see another booster pack so soon. Are they hoping to start double-dipping every new issue?
[/ QUOTE ]
Super Booster I: Cyborg came out with Issue 13
Super Booster II: Magic came out with Issue 14
Super Booster III: Science is in beta with Issue 15...probably going to be released with or just after issue 15.
Where's the double dipping?
My guess is one booster per issue so they can piggy-back the booster graphics updates, which is what they are mostly, in with the issue updates since the download is expected to be large with new issues, instead of having a random large update between issues.
Also wouldn't be surprised if the work for the Mutant and Natural boosters are already planned and possibly done waiting to be released later. -

I believe official word has been that Blasters and Corruptors are gonna get Dual Pistols first...
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't believe there has been any official word yet. Just player presumptions, desires, and educated guesses based on hints from the Going Rogue trailer, some marketing survey last August, and comments made by Positron during the anniversary events hinting at Demon Summoning and Dual Pistols as new powersets.
Everything is definitely pointing to that direction since its a very often requested powerset and we are getting a new signature NPC with that as a powerset soon(TM), but since no official word has been given yet, take it all with a grain of salt. Until you see it on the boards posted by a red name announcing a new feature (not just hinting at it) or on the main CoX site, take it with all with a grain of salt.
EDIT - I may be wrong about no official word. May have missed the official announcement. If there has been, point me there. -
Also, welcome to the game. Ignore the guy who said those things to you. If anything it sounds like you're using the mission architect exactly as the devs intended for people to use it: to create their own stories and have fun. It sounds like the guy is just frustrated by the recent surge of powerlevelers trying to use the MA to do so and over-reacted. Keep playing how you want...you're about to start getting to the good dev created content though, especially once you actually unlock your travel powers. Thats when the game actually starts getting fun when you can actually move around and see the world. As long as you're having fun, thats all that matters though.

I think this round it will be color customization, however with color customization down, that means they've figured out some of the hard parts about power customization (from what I remember about BAB's FAQ from a while back) and they should be able to put in the other stuff in there a lot more easily down the road.

This BAB's post some time ago about this:
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showflat....ue#Post10351446
Your power effect can be tinted, but not the effect when it hits another character. Throw a green fireball, the target will burn the standard red fire.
Beyond that, for all we know from Positron's pics--it's Pet colorization--not Power customization. My Guess: we can color our effects, but not the effects onto others.
[/ QUOTE ]
As far as BAB's post, it was a while ago explaining why power customization would be very time consuming and difficult to implement with the current game engine. He also stated that the issues he's talking about would have to be resolved before they did release power customization because they didn't want to do it half way. I think it's safe to assume that if they are giving us the ability to customize the colors of our powers, then they have figured out a way to make the effects look how the caster customized it even on the target.
As for the pics only showing pet colorization, if I remember correctly, the picture with the blue imps, you can see the toon throwing a blue stream of something, presumably blue fire, (darker blue than the energy blasts so its not that, unless they customized the color to be darker, which still supports my comment), so again, I think its safe to assume that we'll be able to colorize the projectiles as well.
One, though it would be time consuming for the character creation process, way to handle it is to allow the player to customize how the effects cast on them look. Allow us to use the default look, customize to look how we want it, or customize to look how the caster wants. Can't imagine it would be too hard to implement if they can get the effects to look right on the target to begin with, but would take forever to go through all of the effects on a toon and customize that. -
I like the idea of keeping the following:
Galaxy City (keep AE spamming out of Atlas)
Talos Island
Founders Falls (to keep the AE spamming out of PI)
Pocket D
Mercy Island
Cap au Diable (More of a hub zone like Talos than Sharkhead is.)
St. Martial (Doesn't fit in Grandville really and keeps AE spam out, plus Martial has the casino...entertainment fits thematically)
Then add a holodeck option in the SG bases.
