AE, Story arks and missions
Sounds like your friend misunderstood you, and thought you were just trying to farm yourself to 50 in AE.

Whisper could be right. With so many people farming AE to get from 1 to 50 in only a few hours, your friend probably thought you were doing that.

I recently purchased the game 2 days ago, and i am currently lvl 12, questing got abit boring for me so i decided to make a story ark in AE.
After creating my 3 mission masterpiece i then asked a high lvl super team mate to help me test it.
Upon reaching half-way thru it he begin asking me why i wasnt questing. i replied: 'Because i wanted to create a AE story ark'
We then got into an argument. He started insulting me and saying im not playing the game the way im suppose to, and that im missing all the game content. I replied that the game content is out there and i can play it if i want to, but i dont have to.
Im wanting to get a 2nd, 3rd, 4th or more opinions on this problem. Am i not playing the game the way the designers want me to?

It is sad to hear that some people with issues are doing this to new people. This is what the devs say about 1-50 in MA:

"Re: Ticket System
This system is in place so that we can better control the non-XP, non-Inf. rewards that are handed out by the system. Since the Architect determines a lot of the details of the mission, this puts a great amount of control over drops into their hands. With tickets, we can set a threshold that is simply unsurpassable.
That said, we want the ticket system to mirror in quality and quantity of reward as compared to the bulk of the normal game as much as possible. The idea being that if you levelled a character from 1 to 50 exclusively in Mission Architect, you won't be gimped or OP as compared to a level 50 that never touched the system."

That guy was outta line.
The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.
Let's hope Noah doesn't call copyright infringement on these "arks."

As long as you're not doing anything blatantly offensive (in a general common sense definition), you can play the game however you want. If you want to do nothing but solo, so be it. If you want to play in nothing but AE missions, more power to ya. If some non-dev player comes and whines about you somehow not playing "properly," put him/her on your ignore list and keep playing.

Sounds like a member of the Content Police.
I dislike the fact that AE seems to be mostly used for powerleveling, but I've resigned myself to the fact that it's not going away.
Do I think you should spend ALL your time in AE? No. But I see nothing wrong with playing in it once in a while.
AE was a great addition to that game that (just like anything) was immediately set upon by the players looking to get something for as little effort as possible.
Now that the farm missions have died down a little bit I have found some truly awesome story arcs created by my fellow players. THAT, in my opinion is what AE should be used for.
The guy you mentioned is just a jackhole. It sounds like you just wanted to make a cool arc for yourself, and he jumped on you, accusing you of being an exploiter.
As long as you're not using AE to exploit stuff, have fun with it, that's what it's there for.
I will reiterate myself though, don't spend ALL your time in AE, there's a lot of cool stuff in the game you'll miss out on if you do.

A lot of people (like me) never liked powerlevelling, and suffered through the Meow blitz where the game was briefly completely overrun by powerlevellers, and it's left us pretty bitter towards the Architect in general.
But if you're creating and putting effort into an actual story arc, that guy should very well have known better. Farm 'arcs' never go beyond one mission after all. He's an idiot.
Like others have said, you are playing just fine. And you are using the AE system as intended: to have fun and create stories for your enjoyment and the enjoyment of others.
As an aside, if you DO want to maintain a levelling pace that will still allow you try out the dev content, you can turn off XP and still explore AE arcs and get tickets. That's what I do.

Also, welcome to the game. Ignore the guy who said those things to you. If anything it sounds like you're using the mission architect exactly as the devs intended for people to use it: to create their own stories and have fun. It sounds like the guy is just frustrated by the recent surge of powerlevelers trying to use the MA to do so and over-reacted. Keep playing how you want...you're about to start getting to the good dev created content though, especially once you actually unlock your travel powers. Thats when the game actually starts getting fun when you can actually move around and see the world. As long as you're having fun, thats all that matters though.
