  1. Here are all the maps with jails i've found so far:
    CoT (both sides) Small, - 4,9,10,19,24, Medium, - 4,9,14,19,24, Large,-4,9,14,19,24
    Arachnos Small, - 20 to 23, Medium, - 21 to 25, Large,- 19 to 24
    Council Small, - 3,7,10,15,18, Medium, - 2,5,12,18, Large,- 3,7,11,15,19

It appears there are no maps with Longbow-style jails.

Not to mention pirates and ninjas. But I expect that silliness to die down rather quickly You can do serious and original things with MA, both on foozle-slaying and storytelling level, people just need the time to learn. (and no, beta wasn't enough, - manyy people couldn't or wouldn't participate.) Look at, say, the base creator, - people learned to use it in very imaginative ways nowadays, but I bet early bases weren nowhere near those superdesiugns we have now.
  3. After 10000th "not reproduced"-"reopened"-"Ah, it was because you pressed ENTER, not clicked the OK button!" "Fixed for good" "reopened - TAB to focus on the button then, then SPACE still doesn't work right" bug you are vulnerable to obsessive-compulsive behaviour...

Well, after a night's sleep it seems that the main problem with that particular report was that both mission and contact names were extremelly long-winded, and there was absolutely no way to avoid those. If it was something shorter, it'd probably would be much easier to fit it all in 500 chartacters without sounding TOO concise. (affects readability 2,BTW.)

I still think that 1000 characters would be better, but well...

Stop including your personal opinions as to what happed and just what did, where it did and at what time and you'll be fine.

If you need to add more than that then use the form on the main site.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yes. As it happens, I know quite well what should be in a bug report. But believe it or not it could be quite a lot, because you'd rather tell EXACTLY what you did and how.

Which contact/mission it was|? (yes, it's supposed to be in the auto-generated part but wouldn't be in my case b/c of the nature of the bug.) Were you getting the same result every time you tried and what exactly, step-by-step, you did? (You know, probably, that most insidious type of bug is one where you're supposed to do A or B in either order, but in fact doing A then B produces different results from B then A?)

Any other facts you feel you should add? (Again, no opinion on WHY bug happens is very good, but if the bug happens, say, only when you use wireless mouse and not touchpad might be important.)

And that wrongly enforced 50-character limit in the header is a bug in itself.
  5. Why are we limited to just 510 characters in /bug report body and 50 in the header? Furthermore, the dialog allows more than 50 characters to be typed into the header field, so you may think you're OK, but then your header is cut mid-word. And 10 characters with no paragraphs is too little. (I bet that there's some QA guy right now trying to make sense of my bug report, because I had to shoehorn lots of related facts inrto that stupid limit.)

Ok, I understand that there ought to be a limit of some kind for the whole host of reasons but won't allowing users to add more info if they can add to theirt usefulness?

    City of Monopoly

Yes, he did, but he was an experienced marketeer before that, and he spent lots and lots of his time online during that month. (150-200 hours IIRC) So, it probably will be more like 3-4 months if you're lucky.

Mmmnn, Giant stomping Nazi war robots.

Drops his jaw. Haven't heared of the authors but they're awesome animators and the rendering is flawless.

Not to mention all the Star Wars references...
  8. [ QUOTE ]
I should also point out that the giant stomping Nazi war robots would move very slowly, with a special mechanical walk animation, and each footstep would cause the screen shake effect

    [/ QUOTE ]
if they'd do that AND shout "Scanning Area!" I would be a bit confused asto which game I'm currently playing.

    Catching up.

Day jobs/Patrol XP: Yes, it's either +50% XP or cancellation of debt if any. Rate is 1 bar/24 h or so I belive. So 1 day offline either clears 1 bar of debt or provides you with 50% of that bar's XP for free. Also if you get any debt whiile still having Patrol XP, it's used to pay debt first. Debt paid with PXP either on or offline counts towards debt badges.

As for specific locations badges/bonuses, well, most are o0nly useful if you don't play that character for a very long while. (then again, some of them, like tailor discounts and most accolades have charges instead of set durations, they're a bit more worthwhile.) Also, some titles are cool like "black ops" for villains

Good luck with your job search.
  11. All Vanguard-specific maps are quite good (Instanced Vanguard base, Rikti tunnels with that big cave, ruined PortalCorp...)

Others that I'd like to see used more... Meteor-struck Atlas Park from the Orouboros initiation. Troll rave. Frozen forest and cave from winter events (Unlikely, but...)

    [ QUOTE ]
There are some MA badges that are account wide, usually ones that are tied to publishing arcs and the arcs themselves (such as getting an Arc to be Dev Choiced, that badge is granted to all your characters).

If you spend tickets to unlock features in MA, such as a variant enemy, costume pieces, or a set of maps, then that is unlocked account wide as well.

If you spend tickets on a specific reward, like an Inspiration or Recipe Roll, then that is only given to the character spending the tickets.

    Me likes very much.

2.Does anyone else feel that the introduction of M.A is the start of making CoH self sufficent and possibly making dev s redundant.
Bringing out M.A now and for the next few issues concentrating on upgrading and adding some extra bits to it could mean no more new content from the devs.

    [/ QUOTE ]
It's exactly the other way around.
    1) "Devs" are here to stay whatever happens. Just like Navy ships and cheap clocks big software projects like those never are in perfect order, - you need to support them constantly.

    2) Devs would have those same tools at their disposal now, meaning that they can create content more quickly and/or easier expand staff with creative types vs coders.

    3) Pros are just better at those kind of things, for a million different reasons: They have more time to do it, they did it for longer than your average amateur, they have pro support (from coders to proofreaders to internal testers) most of us don't, their content is canon by default, they don't have many restrictions players' version of MA has and would have to prevent exploits, they can create public zones as opposed to instances, and a lot, lot more.

Sure there would be dozens of arcs as good or better as the devs do. But those would be exception rather than norm, when you consider how many user-created arcs there will be in total. Devs on the other hand produce something everyone has or will play every time they try

In still other words, unless CoX folds completely, I don't see new dev's content not being there. And if it does fold, the whole discussion becomes rather moot...

  15. L33t has its place... E.g. a note written by a Freak may well be @11 1337$p3/\K. Other than that, - well, what everyone said. U wanna be top-rated u use spelcheker. it isn't an in-game chat or even forum, after all, no one rushes you. (That comes from someone who makes alot of typos and still doesn't understand why English has definite article, but no true subordinate clauses. )

Although, I wonder... Would mission texts in languages other than English be possible? Could be useful...

    MA Question

    [ QUOTE ]
There is xp in it. And influence/infamy/prestige too.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Only if you run it without testing options, IIRC (or even only if you've actually published it.) And anyway, typical testing with lots of iterations, tweaks etc, might be SLOOOW and risky, not the usual 8-team... err... chaotic run with everyone on SB, phants, fire monkeys and stuff jumping in all directions and nukes going off...

    MA Question

"Thumbs" ratings were changed to "stars" ratings somewhere alonh the way, btw. As for testing teams... Could be tough, even after initial excitiment dies down, because there's no XP in it...

    Search Options

Well, LfM system /signed. I'm big fan of these and comments+"may I join your team" /tells just aren't the equivalent.

For one, for most people /slash commands binds and macros are all Greek, and even if someone would write "super team leader tray" with macros like
    /macro T1 "comment Leader, 1 free space"
    /macro T2 "comment Leader, 2 free spaces"
    ...
    ...
    /macro T7 "comment Leader, 7 free spaces"
/macro SL "comment ask $target for invites, not me"

    etc.

most people still won't use it b/c it's not standard. (and that tray will take valuable screen space.)

(I'm not saying anything about people who, say, send someone a "may I join team" tells when $target isn't in any team and then send "ask your leader" in reply to "I'm soloing" )

The original suggestion... Well, let's not talk about THAT.
  20. No, anyone can run any arc, at least it was in the very first officcial article and we weren't told differently since. So, yes, you can "go rogue" in a sense. No one, (except closed beta testers) knows how co-op is supposed to work, although most think it would be something to do with Pocket D.
  21. Yet another interview: http://www.allakhazam.com/story.html?story=17048

Some interesting bits... Never thought those pesky random civilians are "mission objectives" Also some info on what's planned for MA, what's possible and what isn't.
  22. I've read about it in a magazine, back when it was launched. Unfortunately their's MMO section editor was... Well, old school UO fan, so basically everything that didn't include unrestricted PvP was getting rather lukewarm reviews. (IIRC he gave EQ 6 out of 10, purely because it had no "evil PvP roleplay" elements, to give you an idea. He changed his ways somewhat since then) I liked the idea that you can design your costume purely for the looks, not because of +something wearing it gives to you, but never actually tried the game, lag to anything in the US was atrocious here back then...

Then I happily forgot about it until the last aurtumn until I stumbled upon TVtropes page mentioning Nemesis... And somewhat surprised that CoX is still around decided to try it after all.
  23. You can recreate cossie/poversets but as far as I understand, specifying details of the build (what powers exactly are taken, how they're enhanced, etc.) won't be available due to AI limitations. (And custom AVs can only take 1 pool.)
  24. These? Scary? I specifically bought EU version because of ultra-nicety niceness of both the forum and ingame chat. Seriously, I've been active on dozens of messages boards of all kinds and so far this one seems to be one of the friiendliest, especially for a game site. (Of course, paid membership, moderators who work for salary, not ego inflation and relatively small number of the active posters are MAJOR part of that, but (naive idealist in me hopes) they aren't the only reasons. )
  25. http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...age=0&vc=1

DOOOM? Ok, any such system is a good thing. And that you only can transfer tickets earned for OTHERS playing your arc is clearly encouraging more people write more. On the other hand that can make usual fan dumb intrigues and popularity contests more vicious. And on the still other hand, hey, we have zone PvP, market PvP, and now MA PvP... Reads MsScribe's siikkrett diaries for tips and tricks... (not really.)
