    1.) good for you
2.) i don't like. and i don't take it. i'm not denying you anything. i'm stating my opinion. been playing and paying long enough to do so.
3.) that "emulate" option isn't worth it. 2 pool powers that still isn't as good. no thanks. and yeah, i tried champions online when it first dropped. me and many other CoH subscribers. didn't hate it, didn't it luv either. that's why i'm back playing CoH. but i did like some things about the game. it happens.

teleport for PvP could be modified to make things more balanced. or you could just have high perception to combat it. something could be worked out i'm sure.
  2. i know some you have your opinions about champions online's TP, but it's the best teleport power i've come across so far. i'd rather have the "fly and disappear" feel than having to click and misjudge all the time, with limited control. i liked how on CO how i could TP above, behind, away from enemies for a surprise attack like Night Crawler.

and for the record, not everyone uses the mouse/keyboard. i use a controller mainly, with an exception to location powers and menu functions. so the teleport power is even more annoying for players like myself.

regardless, this travel power needs looked at rather its the champion online's way or not
  3. i don't know about anyone else, but CoH's teleport is very underwhelming and somewhat difficult to manage. IMO it would be awesome if the Devs could make teleport fuction the way Champion's Online does.
  4. i'm messing with a fire/earth dom right now. pretty darn fun and powerful. fire is not the best control set but it done dish out some nice damage.
  5. btw... does Shadow Field work just like Volcanic Gasses?
  6. after softcapping my earth/earth/ice dom, it's hard to look back. only exception being any /fire toon that goes for the fire app.

yeah you're right. i thought about that after. i guess i wouldn't think to confuse a boss first since i typically don't have to with my other toons. unless they're EB's or something.

so you're relying on the -to hit then to avoid to alpha?

yeah but those are single targets. i'm use to playing +4/x8 on my earth/earth/ice dom. that's why i'm wondering what a dark/ can do with big mobs. for teams as well as me soloing.
  10. ok now that i'm sure a lot of people have dark/ toons, i'm wondering how you feel the set plays? for instance. fire/ typically goes flash fire> immob> attack. earth> stalagmites> immob/attack. plant/ SoC> roots> attack.

so with fearsome stare allowing to attack if attacked, what opening do you guys find works the best? FS> jump in... HoD> jump out... cone immob> and so on...?

what's the most common, effective, opener for a dark/ toon?
  11. the hulk has to be a brute hands down. the whole fury mechanic was probably based off the hulk himself. someone like the juggernaut would be a tank imo.

and i'll say Willpower. WP's Quick Recovery, Fast Healing/rttc, and most importantly Psionic Resistance edges out INV imo.

although i have to add. INV in the grand scheme of things does make more sense in terms of WP being just superhuman. INV should be the hulk but the way it's actually made in-game WP wins. by the names alone, i'd say INV would be the hulk, and WP would be captain america... that said, INV's psi hole, no recovery, and burst heal loses against WP's Psi resistance, recovery, and regen.
  12. seems that the proc cancels out EoF. is this a known issue?

You get ambushed before building up Dom..you're screwed for mez protection.

Only acceptable mez protection for dominators outside of incarnates is Indomitable Will if you can perma it with a crap ton of recharge since you dont need to build it up.
i never have issues building dom even outside of frenzy. one mob and you're back in it. and with domination being such a blessing, killing off one mob is a nice trade-off.

plus the mez protection is just one thing. to be able to one shot bosses and double your hold duration is more noticeable imo.

dom's are beast. (just threw that in there)
  14. it is a pickle. all three sets can pull ahead in some category or another.

what APP/PPP would you choose? that would make a bit of difference. for instance, anything */fire/fire is a win/win. but ice is just as good in it's own right.
  15. well your right by loving them all. the are the 3 best control sets imo. and of course you can't go wrong with /fire.

any set will benefit from perma-dom obviously, but i think mind/ benefits the most from a lot of recharge. plant has SoC which is already an every mob power with little help. earth has so many controls to the point where you can just pick any combo and still be effective. but mind, although it's a beast in it's on right, will need the most help to get mass confusion and total domination enough recharge to alternate and not have to rely on mass hypnosis.

but it all comes down to your play style. versatility, mind/. damage, plant. hard control, earth.
  16. thinking of making a vid for my mind/fire/fire also
  17. Doms just maybe be my favorite AT set. the style of play can vary from tankerish melee to blaster like ranged. outside of a pure buffer/debuffer or pet specialist, the dominator can fulfill the needs of a lot of styles in the game.

these are just two of my doms. i chose these two because they're so different. one is resilient and melee based, the other is squishy yet powerful at delivering huge amounts of damage from ranged. but both do what they do very well. and give a completely different play experience.

  18. i understand where you are coming from too. it's the little things i like that's making the game more enjoyable to me. i hate having to rinse and repeat so much for incarnates.

but i do like the little things in the game. like more zones at the ferry and choppers, tailor options with the arbiters, inherent fitness, travel options, paragon store on demand, f2p option, character search options, right click in game for info, chat, etc., email and account items improvements, character creation improvements, copy and pasting and so on.

all the little things that improve an already great game, and makes small task like transferring money from one toon to another, traveling between zones, switching sides from blue to red is what keeps me loyal and happy.

now this is not to say i don't enjoy the incarnates, because i do, very much. but i guess i expect new things to be added like that over time. but the small conveniences makes for a great foundation to a game.
  19. doms can do it all other than be a buff specialist. a well put together dom can tank, lead a group and be the alpha, deal massive damage, take heavy hitters outta the fight or even those annoying sappers or engineers.

check out my sig for an example of doms at work. the tanking earth/earth, to the damaging plant/fire
  20. yeah sorry bro. i know my build is fairly costly. some of the purples can be substituted with lesser IO's that still give 6.25 rech instead. i personally am just more comfortable with a perma-dom that doesn't require hasten.

since they 'fixed' the ambush AE farms, i've been doing the caves at +4/x8 with ease. i will admit, the incarnate level shift helps a ton against those lvl 54's. i made i vid. i'll upload it soon. i just have to redo it because i noticed although i ran thru the mobs, i didn't have maneuvers running. so i was fighting with 44.5 s/l def and not the 49 i'm use to.

I don't know if it would help, but you could try using a fast SD card for extra cache if you dedicate it for Speedboost. I'm not sure how to tell the difference, but it wouldn't hurt if you felt like trying.
thanks for the tip. not sure how to do that exactly, but i guess that's what researching is for

well the short answer is i bought my laptop for more than just gaming, or CoH for that matter. but with me being a barber, there's times throughout the day when i have down time. so i like to jump in "the city" (as i call it) during those times. so i figured since most of my time seems to be at work, i'd might as well get the most out of a laptop than a desktop.

i know that laptops can still push out decent specs so that's better for me since i'm mobile a lot. also, UM isn't a top priority as much as balanced performance. i just hated never being able to contribute on trials due to extreme lag. but seeing how i can experience the game the way it was designed now makes me a happy camper. i was even able to have two instances of the game running, minus UM on one of them.
  23. well, just a follow up. my laptop came in and i must say, it's lived up to my expectations. i've been able to run ultra mode at about 98% of it's max on trials. i've been playing at the full 1920 x 1080 resolution as well.

so far i haven't encountered any lag, even on the BAF with the screen zoomed out. and as of right now i see no need to increase the RAM.
  24. there's a lot to question and comment on your build. so i figured it may be just as helpful to just refer you to a post i made earlier on earth/earth. i will note that skipping power boost is highly unfavorable imo. and domination will fix most of all your worries in terms of endurance and holding things. for more damage you can drop quicksand and add assault. plus incarnates can help with some issues too.

  25. Thanks for the input guys. I did come across some YouTube clips that give me a little confidence.

Buddy seems to have the same specs as me. I plan to have 16gigs of ram tho. Even If i can't push the Max, I'd still like to play at a high quality. But i understand trials get hectic, so I'm prepared to drop the settings for better performance.
