Which one to go with for permadom: Mind/fire, Plant/fire, or Earth/fire?

Ok I'm here's the story: I'm about to retire my mind/elec who is perma dom because well I'm not liking /elec dmg right now, it just seems meh to me... But anyways I'm going to gut her for those very expensive IOs I used for her. So my question is which toon should have those IOs: Mind/Fire (lvl 5), Plant/fire(lvl 36), or my Earth/fire (lvl 50)?

I guess what I'm looking for is:
-Works well in Teams (strike forces RSF, etc) and works well solo
-A nice dmg (I'm not looking for omg crazy dmg that what my secondary is for)
-A little bit pvp action if need be

I love them all... I love how my Mind/elec (except for the /elec part) can shut an entire mob in just a few clicks, I love how my plant/fire have a crazy control chaos thing going that steamroll through mobs, and I love how I'm literally a walking container of napalm with my Earth/Fire.

I wish I had the money to perma all of them but I can only choose one for now

lvl 50 dm/regen
lvl 50 em/inv
lvl 50 elec/stoner
lvl 50spine/regen
lvl 40 ill/rad
And many many more....

well your right by loving them all. the are the 3 best control sets imo. and of course you can't go wrong with /fire.

any set will benefit from perma-dom obviously, but i think mind/ benefits the most from a lot of recharge. plant has SoC which is already an every mob power with little help. earth has so many controls to the point where you can just pick any combo and still be effective. but mind, although it's a beast in it's on right, will need the most help to get mass confusion and total domination enough recharge to alternate and not have to rely on mass hypnosis.

but it all comes down to your play style. versatility, mind/. damage, plant. hard control, earth.

Whichever you like best, although in two cases you mentioned (PvP and LRSF) Mind pulls ahead (perma-sleep avs, non-typed attacks for pvp).

Very true about mind, I found out it's very versatile. After not playing for almost a year and a half I played all my high level doms (except for the Mind/fire I made her yesterday) and what I found out is with Mind/ I literally can shut down entire mob and let the others on my team do their thing. However, when it came to dmg my Plant/fire and Earth/fire outperforms my Mind/Elec and they're not even perma. So when it came down to soloing it felt slugish too me. I guess after playing my plant/fire and watching mobs literally melt in no time, I guess I expected more. Hopefully my Mind/fire won't disappoint .

I guess I would go with Mind/Fire and work on getting the other two perma!

Ty all for replying to my nonsense!

No, in PvP, mind does not pull ahead of earth in PvP. That very very long stun duration in PvP makes a well built earth-fire Dom get a kill on a squishy before the stun wears off. This is no joke. The casting time is so fast on stalagmites to be very useful on duels and on team pvp. The only thing an earth-fire Dom has problems with in duels are serious debuffs like a cold defender or a poison corruptor. A cold defender or even corruptor will make your fire damage laughable.

However, in pvE, earth is my favorite control focus set. It is just heave in controls and stalagmites is a SUPERB mob opener in width duration, etc.... I can rely on Stalagmites better than Seeds of Confusion when I am soloing mobs of x5 or more. Stalagmites seems to have a greater area coverage than Seeds.

I have an earth-thorns Dom I love to death, because thorns is so good at AoE dmg.

That's actually good to know and it makes my decision even harder XD! But I can see how stalagmites can be very potent because that duration is no laughing matter... I love my earth/ dom XD

Decisions decisions! I guess I can switch them those IOs time to time between the toons until I get the money :/

it is a pickle. all three sets can pull ahead in some category or another.

what APP/PPP would you choose? that would make a bit of difference. for instance, anything */fire/fire is a win/win. but ice is just as good in it's own right.

Earth/Fire is mostly good for PvP because of high damage and procs and such. I've never seen a *good* PvP'r that had to rely on that broken stun to play his Earth/Fire. But yea, if you want to PvP at all, just stay away from Plant then do whatever the hell you feel like between the other two.

I am always partial to EARTH CONTROL because of its amazing variety of controls which gives you many combat options and set bonus options, but also the -def it inflicts makes it very useful both early game (when you miss a lot) and vs frustrating enemies with high defenses (like rikti drones).

I made an Earth-Fire build mostly for funsies, without a real defined statistical objective, just some slotting I liked for the way I play. It might motivate you one way or the other...

Ive never done a plant. I just cant get with the Tree Control thing..

However I have an Earth/Fire and it is a seriously awesome toon especially with Fire Mastery Pool.. Stun em with Stalagmits, Keep em in place with Stone Cages, Smoke em with Rain of Fire !!!!

Love it..

I think my Plant/Fire/Fire does pretty well for herself:

(She uses Intuition Alpha rather than Musculature though)

I have all 3 of the dom's you mentioned in the OP, all at permadom - here are their builds:

Plant/Fire/fire:

http://www.cohplanner.com/mids/downl...41F30F4A8BE6FC

Mind/fire/ice:

http://www.cohplanner.com/mids/downl...8DF31FBDD2ECF5

Earth/Fire/ice:

http://www.cohplanner.com/mids/downl...5AFE019991EEF6

In the case of the last two i went with the ice mastery epic pool for the extra debuff in sleet and so I could slot a doctored wounds set in hoarfrost and my 5th LoTG +recharge in frozen armor. If you want to switch to the fire mastery pool for a little extra AoE (fireball + rain of fire instead of sleet + ice storm) you will need to re-juggle 5%-10% of the global recharge somehow. I like those builds because it gives my mind/fire dom some debuff options and my earth/fire dom tends to take some return fire when using earthquake or while waiting for volcanic gasses to kick in on all the mobs - and aid self + hoarfrost provides some nice self healing.

The only purples I have slotted in any builds are the confuse sets, mostly because those where fairly cheap (relatively speaking) when i got them. Not sure what they cost now, been off in a galaxy far far away for the last 3 weeks. The purple set for sleep is fairly cheap as well - on the mind/fire build you could easily drop terrify for mass hypnosis and put purple set there - I went with terrify because I didn't have the sleep set yet and was already capped on 6.25% recharge bonuses.

Oh wow thank you all for all the advice I took a little bit from everyone's build and I decided to work on my Mind/fire dom first, then when my Plant/Fire gets to 50 she will be my priority until I get more monies. My Earth/Fire is still kinda of a work in progress since I'm not sure what direction for the Mastery pools I want.

But anyways thank you all again
