  2. I have a stone/stone brute at 40 and he rocks! (pardon the pun).

I would say drop Super Speed and Weave for TP Foe and TP Self. I have tough and it makes a diference but weave is a bit naf now. You can drop hurdle to get Mud Pots earlier as you will find that great for agro management and extra damage output if you need to rest in a long battle.

You will find yourself in situations where you don't want to turn off granite and/or rooted (i play max rep as do most people probably) and you will find TP very useful to help get over that ledge/up them stairs/to the other side of the room this side of this week. TP foe will be useful for those "oooo theres alot of nasties over there I think i'll tp a few to thin them out 1st" moments.

I teamed with some friends the other night (an em/ea brute and a rad/kin corruptor) and I ran into battle 1st and grabbed the agro with Mud Pots (get that as soon as you can) then the other brute followed to help with the damage dealing seeing as when hasten is down your recharge sucks. Stone brutes can take the most damage as stone tanks do but we suffer with -damage and -recharge so we can take the beating while other brutes help dish the damage.

I don't have the Health? pool - I find granite and rooted good enough to maintain decent health and any problems are overcome by Earths Embrace.

A good tip any stoney will give you is make friends with a kin. They will love the xp you can get them and you will love being perma granite/rooted and still having decent movement/recharge speed.

When I7 is released who I level to 50 1st will be decided by how many SG/friends are leveling their /kins 1st
  3. This game has been worrying me more and more as time goes by. The number of Tanks without Taunt and Empaths missing vital/useful team powers or that don't heal.

I think some of this has been brough on by CoV and the fact that Brutes generally don't take taunt but in CoH I get slightly worried when the tank doesn't have taunt as like some have said how do you agro the boss thats heading off towards your healer etc?

I have a fire/ice tank and partially due to it being a PvP build but also very useful in teams I have 2 taunts (the tankers taunt and the multi target taunt from presence) and I also have the 2 fear powers from presence.

It was commented how in 1 mission a squishy was hovering right beside me in a tight CoT mission surrounded by a big croud of Bohemouths and they never once whent for the squishy.

Seeing as tanks generally don't do alot of damage unlike Brutes but can take a hell of alot of agro/damage in my opinion IF they want to team to 50 then really they should get taunt. It's ok saying i have an aura and I can punch but the blaster/defender stood at the back of the team that has a boss heading in his direction might be thankfull of that ranged taunt to grab agro away again. Also unless you like button bashing taunt grabs agro easy than changing targets every few seconds to punchvoke.

For those wanting to solo to 50 or who have SG/friends that don't mind then sure skip taunt but for other teams it might be nice if we can fully fulfill our role.

    Invis in pvp

Most serious PVPers will most likely have Tactics, +perception in auras/powers or in the case of scrappers Focussed Accuracy.

If you don't want to be seen with invis try Bloody Bay as you may stand more of a chance in there but the higher you go in PvP zones the less effective it will be but not totally useless.

If you want to go for invis then get stealth also so you can just drop to that when you are ready to attack.

My scrapper has Tactics and Focussed Accuracy ready for Recluses Victory and from test I can say it's very effective (unless stalkers go for hide/stealth/invis combo). A normal stalker with hide and stealth that cannot be seen very easily even in Warburg stands out like everyone else in Recluses Victory

Also I spent many an hour with my ss/inv Brute in Sirens Call/Warburg and could see normal stalkers (ones that just use hide) and trollers with Superior Invis quite easily with tactics and the + perception in one of his auras

Thanks andy75 and the whole team! Got my shiny accolade after arresting some sorcerers this morning.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    It was fun!

I had to arrest a few sorcerers and Banished Pantheon Spirits to complete this 1. I haven't tried it out yet as afterwards i was really tired - still managed a few of the badges towards the Geas accolade tho
  6. Hello Seri.

I no longer have this arc but seeing as IllusionBot has the most Accolades of any of my lvl 50's I will offer you his services. I should be on anytime after 7pm though hopefully can make it earlier.

Seeing as I finally got Mini SpineBot to 50 I now have some free time - I don't really relish the thought of trying to get Army Medic to 50 from 34 atm.
  7. I would sudgest getting Hasten instead of Provoke maybe. When you are in Granite your recharge is sooo slow and /stone powers don't recharge too fast as it is.

I have a stone/stone brute and once I got Granite I dropped most other armours except Rock Armour and Minerals so that I could fit a few other powers in. I have an 8 power attack chain on him and love it but like I said without Hasten the powers recharge to slow for me. I find that when hasten runs out I sometimes drop to Rock Armour just for the extra recharge.

You MAY want to drop 1 of the taunts in Mud Pots for another End Reducer as it can be end hungry.

Another thing - you might want to swap Recall Friend for TP Foe - if rooted in granite you cant move very fast so you will love being able to TP that runner back to you and away from team mates.

Other then those few tips/ideas good build.
  8. _Tremulous_

    So much fun!

A few sudgestions for a stone tank. Personally I have a stone Brute but the theory behind the choices is the same.

1: - Earth's Embrace, Mud Pots and Rooted are your definate friends from the stone primary. As for other armours they depend on your playstyle. You could go for all for variety in missions or go for the pure Granite Build. Even if going for the Granite build you may want to pick the others up on the way so as to be able to take the punishment being dished to you then choose whether or not to respec them out if/when you get Granite.

2: - Swift from the Fitness pool is another friend - when you are rooted and have granite on you move so slow you could swear you are going backwards. Most if not all will recommend you get this and 3 slot it for Running Speed.

3: - Hasten. This cannot be perma anymore but If you are going down the Granite root i'd sudgest getting this and 3 slotting it for Recharge Reduction as when in Granite your powers recharge VERY slowly and this power you will find as a god send.

4: - Again from the Fitness Pool you may want Health and Stamina. The health just to help boost Rooted's regen and stamina because with alot of toggles running you are going to eat endurance for fun.

5: - Make friends with a Kinetic defender/controller. If you go for granite their speed boost will be so welcomed as it will stop you walking backwards, speed up the recharge of your powers and help you with any endurance issues for non stop mayhem.

I can't really say much about the Fire secondary as I have no experiance with that so i'll just finish by saying have fun and let us know how you go.
  9. Trialed a build in last night arena fights on test. I dropped the normal Ice Sword and opted for Lazer Beam Eyes and Energy Torrent and absolutely loved it!

There was 1 match where the oposing team had plenty of toggle dropping powers and a stormy to help slow things down and unfurtunately I was taken down 2 or 3 times :S but other than that IB did well IMO.

A few good matches chasing scrappers/defenders/controllers and taunting them silly or using fear/slows/lazer beam eyes/energy torrent combo's was great fun.

I am at work at the moment so cant post the build I tried and even though I tried planning on Hero PLanner I think last nights was more of a lets try this whilst respecing. The build is fairly similar to my last posted but I put an extra slot each on the taunts/fears and 4 each on Lazer beam eyes and energy torrent (1 acc, 2 dam and 1 endred)

I am finding IB a mega end drain and at crucial moments when the controller/defender I have chased is very low on health I have lost my toggles if I haven't been watching my end to pop another blue whilst waiting for Conserve Power to recharge.
  10. Cheers for the extra info. I intend to use my tank more for arena matches which are generally set for 10-20mins than pvp zones.

Being team oriented I need the extra taunts/fears so I can keep cycling them so don't really have room for aif other/self and for a tank in the arena it can be a little too hectic to find time to use Aid Self anyway - that's where a good empath and or /kin come in handy

I suppose Rise of the Pheonix might be ok in pvp zones when some people like to take the mick by dancing on your corpse but generally in the arena people don't wait around for long.

I realise that for pvp the damage Ice kicks out is too little to really make a diference which is why I am slotting for slows.

The last time I was in the arena with Ice Burn with my current build the /kin on the oposing team managed to use power boost and end drain to totally drain me and drop my toggles - fortunately for me i was able to get my toggles back up and use healing flames before anyone could take me down.

I may try Swift for extra unsupressed speed like i said - seeing as the next pvp is on test I dont have to respec on live just yet and get to try out my build before i decide.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
edit: change the enh is combat jumping to jump rather than end red, its end cost is minimal and the jump enh will make a huge amount of difference

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah I did notice that the end cost was really low, don't know why I slotted end red instead of jump - will change that. I just need to think of a good lvl 49 power. The idea behind Blazing Aura is for extra taunt when up close. I also thought about either Lazer Beam Eyes or Energy Torrent for a little extra damage or maybe swift for extra unsupressed travel speed?

I did also toy with the idea of Rise of the Pheonix for just in case I am ever taken down - get back up straight away and hopefully catch some of the oposing side in the blast?

Anyway I am getting there and soon hope to have Ice Burn working the best/useful I can.
  12. Taking out the fighting pool for hasten/super speed and concentrating on slows rather than damage also I have put a little more into my taunts/fears so here is my new build idea...

  13. Thanks for that X. I tried your build with a little of my stuff (still got Invoke Panick) and found it very end heavy. Going to have another mess about but so far not too bad.

I am missing not having Hasten and SS from my current build - the extra recharge reduction has been handy and SS is ace for chasing down Empaths and Kins so they have a harder time buffing their team I might possibly drop the Fightin Pool maybe as I get along ok at the moment without tough in PvP. What do you think? At least it would mean Conserve Energy recharging a little faster.

Once I have had another go at the build will post it for your inspection
  14. I have finally got around to doing the 3rd respec with my Fire/Ice tank and have put together a build for PvP in Hero Builder. Any comments/advice welcome.

Ignore some of the slotting numbers - I got quite high then realised I hadn't slotted heals in Healing Flames. They would most likely be in there sooner.

I figured ice doesn't do much damage so the best thing i could do is slot for slows (and hope the oposing team doesn't have a /kin).

The frightening thing is that to be any good a fire tank needs so many toggles but my current build seems ok in PvP (my opinion) and although his toggles have been dropped so far he hasn't yet
  15. I have a lvl 40 ss/inv Brute and love to play him. My build covers both pve and pvp so has assault and tactics. I love wandering up to invis heroes in SC who are stood there thinking they cant be seen and giving them a good Knockout Blow

    ANYWAY

I would sudgest possibly putting an end reducer in each of your toggle defenses as you may find yourself getting tired fast otherwise and once you get that fury up you wont want to stop but will have to due to no end and ultimately no defenses.

For extra fighting time i tried putting 2 endreds in each attack also but at the expense of a damage enhance which doesn't matter too much for pve as you can easily build fury but in pvp the lower damage output wasn't as nice.

I would possibly drop resist energies seein as you have tough hide and get Hand Clap as I have found it can help out if you find you have herded a few too many. Cycling between Footstomp and Hand Clap helps keep those blighters under control

I didn't respec into Hand Clap until recently as I thought if i disorient them they cant hit me and my fury will suffer but it can be a great life saver at times for you and/or the team and means with footstomp you can control a bigger croud.
  16. I have one at lvl 9 i think he is (GravenBot) and enjoyed playing him.

I love the holds and although not massive the energy damage isn't too bad.

I have heard alot of complaints about the other Doms but so far this seems the best imo.
  17. KS - As I mentioned in game next week is a bad week for me as I have to do a 2pm-10pm shift to cover just in case anything goes wrong with the new system/it's users.

Due to travel I won't be home till about 11pm.

Hopefully next week will be the only week I have to do that shift and from then I will be back on 6am-2pm / 10am-6pm shifts.

Looking forward to some more PvP. After Mondays stint on test I feel alot more comfortable with Trem and his abilities and the team we had was perfect as we mostly knew each other and our abilities/play styles.

    Team 1 doesn't stand a chance btw
  18. I'll sign Tremulous up. Need some practice with him but i hear bubblers are ok

Though if you are short of tanks Ice Burn is available too.
  19. _Tremulous_

    Hand Clap

For brutes seeing as Ice Malee isn't an option with Ice Patch to stop them running away from burn patches the only options really are Super Strenght with footstomp or Stone with Seismic Smash and Tremor.

Stone having two knockdown/dissorient powers to cycle is possibly the better option but I prefer Super Strenght. Footstomp 'em then the damage you can cause with Rage, Fury and Knockout Blow etc is just far more satisfying.
  20. I'm up for it.

Evenings are best for me as I generally play once my babies are in bed for less disturbancies.

I have just got my pc up and running again with fresh new mb and cpu so wanna give it a try and compare to my last setup.

Forgot to mention - I will be using my currently lvl 31 Necro/Dark Mastermind. I have no probs with Exemp/MF. I just need a respec asap
  21. _Tremulous_

    Farewell for now

Sorry to see you go. Even for a short time maybe.

See you when you come back hun - with the new PvP zone with I7 i am sure you won't be able to stay away till I8, too many [censored] to kick
  22. Good luck! I tried it last sunday with my lvl31 MM and it seems harder than when I last did it. Though previously I used my Brutes.

I would love to join you for it but unfortunately my PSU blew last sunday also. I have only just found time to test to make sure it wasn't the mboard. Tho the PSU I am getting as a replacement is about £85 (Tagan 580watt modular PSU). Can't get it till next weekend tho thanks to work and money but hope to be back in action Friday night.

Currently I am browsing the forum on my O2 XDA Exec pda/fone/mini laptop or whatever you wanna call it. Shame it can't run Co*

Anyway if anyone is up for either respec next weekend I would appreciate the help as I messed up my MM's build slightly
  23. Any bonus to accuracy is good especially for pvp but just as much for pve.

In pve with 2 acc slots per attack plus invincibility, rage and tactics my ss/inv hits upto +6 (slow damage tho) but for decent damage +4 seems ok for decent defeat/xp rate.

In pvp my guy hits anything apart from rads and katana scrappers (once they have their defense built up).

Forms of stealth, invis, hurricane and whirlwind don't pose any problems - I just step up and KO blow them

I have fought illusion trollers and their blind flash and/or pets don't stop me getting to them and pounding them into the ground.

My favourite times have been heroes that stand around invis and wonder how I can just walk right up and KO blow them. I have even been accused of cheating hehe
  24. If you truely want a pvp build then Tactics tends to be a must (most enemy use stealth or invis so you need to be able to see them let alone hit them). Also you need a couple of accuracy enhancers in each of your attacks. My main pvp toon at the moment is a Lvl 40 ss/inv Brute called Undead Hulk and he hass accuracy enhances in each attack, rage, +Acc from invincibility AND tactics. He can hit no probs thru stealth/invis, hurricane or whirlwind but still has probs with rads or katana scrappers (Once their defense is built up its miss city).

    [ QUOTE ]
    1) would this build be able to drain the endurence off of a brute/corruptor in pvp fast enough for them to not flatten you?

    2) would the damage output be good enough to take out a brute quickly before anybody else which might be teamed up with them to get there? say 3 minutes?

    [/ QUOTE ]

No. You need to ensure you have plenty of damage output because end drain and slows won't save you alone or help you take down a decent Brute before they can pound your face into the ground or have you running.

I solo alot with Hulk but you will have enough to worry about with him - unless you have a good team. I generally wade into teams and will focus on you till 1 or both of us is defeated and if I can get any more of your team I will.

I have taken Undead into Warburg against 2 ill/kin trollers (Seperate occasions) and even though they both drained my end to the point all my toggles dropped and slowed me to a snail pace they didn't have the damage to defeat me even all pets blazing. I beat them both 3-0. A 1 on 1 with another ill/kin proved fatal for him too.

Basically get all the damage you can coz Brutes don't go down easy and for me knockout blow with its ace damage and hold is a killer and gives me either time to get my toggles back up or finish you off.

    [ QUOTE ]
    3) is there enough accuracy in the build so that i dont miss the enemy every single shot?

    [/ QUOTE ]

You can never have eough acc. You definitely haven't slotted enough accuracy imo. With all the acc debuffs you need 2 acc slots plus tactics and that still won't be enough at times. As I said even Undead Hulk has had problems against rads and katana scrappers.

As for elec - I have a force field/elec defender and without acc u will struggle getting thru pff but from my pov elec doesn't drain enough/do fast enough damage to be fast enough unless in a team. 2 elecs together is fun tho hehe
  25. [ QUOTE ]
Does anybody have any experience of this?

I am merc/traps and I want to remain invisible but I;ve never used the power and the description says you cannot use powers that affect others.

1)Can I still order my henchman around?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Yes

[/ QUOTE ]2)Does the leadership and supremacy buff still apply when i'm invisible?

    [/ QUOTE ]

No. Any power that effects others will not work whilst invisible.

[/ QUOTE ]3)Can I lay traps at all?

    [/ QUOTE ]

No. Any power that effects others canot be used.

[/ QUOTE ]4)Can I hand insps to me henchmem?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Unsure about this one.

Maybe Try steatlh? not quite as good as invisibility but you can still use your powers and have a bonus to defense.

Maybe get Grant Invisibility for your pets? If you pvp then no1 can see them coming (without tactics/goggles) and in pve your pets wont agro anything whilst in follow mode.

I have a Necro/Dark MM and Shadow Fall is great as a team stealth and I can get quite close up without being spotted so maybe stealth will be good for you and like I said grant invis for pets so that you can set them on follow and they not agro enemy.
