to the OP - I will try to answer in simple terms how this system works as you may not have discovered it yet doing these trials.
From what you are saying, you are queuing for these trials while not on a team or a league and you end up joining a league after waiting a short time to get into the trial. If that is correct, I assume you are then having difficulty getting in on the next trial that particular league may be running. If that is also correct, it is most likely because once you are already in a league, the leader can not queue up the next trial because you are not in the same zone as the other parties in your team. When a group is formed before beginning a trial, none of the members (yourself included) should be using the LFG feature. The leader will use that button and queue in for the entire team where you will be prompted yes or no to join the event.
What my suggestion is: Find out where the general meeting place on your server where most people form these trials. For example, on Freedom they are typically formed in pocket D. On Champion, they are formed in RWZ in the vanguard base (I don't know about other servers). From there, you will typically seen in broadcast or a player made trial channel (that you may/may not be in) that XYZ is forming a Lambda, Baf etc. You then tell them you are interested, and they will invite you the league. When the team is full the leader will queue everyone.
I find this to be the easiest way to get on a trial team, because when you use the LFG tab, you can't do other missions or task forces while waiting to queue in. -
Quote:What Tank primary or Brute Secondary are you looking into. I would imagine that plays a roll in some of the power selection so the community can help you compare.hi guys! returning player, glad to be back. =) love the CoH devs, they always make something new to get me to come on back. =)
so, Titan Weapons. looks really exciting to me, looks powerful. so this brings me back to the age old question, Tank or Brute? is it the same answer, Brutes just do more damage, and Tanks take more damage?
how well does the Tank handle TW, how's the damage for them? i guess i'm trying to get at, how big is the damage difference between tanks and brutes with TW, since i don't know this new powerset at all.
thanks for indulging an old player! any insight would be appreciated! -
They are decent. If you have time, find or customize a build on their website and maybe something comparable on one of the other sites (falcon, cyber etc)....Write down all the components and manufacturers of the components. Then price out all the parts using the websites/stores that are mentioned in the guide to see what it would cost you to build it yourself. This way you can determine if its costing you more to build it vs having them build it, or if its not enough savings to get your hands dirty and build it yourself.
-
For those of you who like to buy parts/components in the retail environment i highly recommend you look into Microcenter. If you are lucky enough to have one in your area, they are a great resource. I find their processors to be very competitive and often beat out the likes of newegg/tigerdirect as they are giving out discounts often. While they aren't cheaper on everything i consider them one of the only retail stores that is primarily focused around systems/components that can compete with the online stores. You can use their website to get some pricing and arrange in store pick up.

Hyper, i was leery about downloading those programs because i wasn't sure how to use them properly. You're guide is well written and explained. I'll give it a shot when i get home. I guess that was the starting point i needed in the OP.

Quote:What i was experiencing was not rubber banding where all would be fine for a few seconds, and then it jumps back. It was more like "everything is freezing/locking every couple of seconds. Sometimes the pauses made me feel like it was going to map server. On a few occasions it did map-server. I would simply exit CoH, then restart it (including the launcher) and all would be normal. i could jump right back into the trial i was in lag free. I will try to get good look at memory usage if it happens again. So far all is good on the new drivers but i haven't really played that much. When you say "Lag", precisely what symptoms are you seeing? Rubber Banding? Recharge Latency? Reduced Framerate? Any of those could point to a different actual problem. Also, have you checked your memory usage? In Win 7, Ctrl-Shift-Esc will open Task Manager and the Process tab will show where your memory is being used.
I have even lowered my visual settings during the lag, and it didn't help and took a little while to flip to the new settings. -
Yeah, that is what i originally thought. I did update my drivers last night anyway. I didn't have any lag issues, but i was only on for about 2 hours time. During that time i did 4 trials, without incident. I'll report back after i have more extended playtime.
-
After reading more and more tech issue posts, i'm wondering if it could be a driver issue, as a lot of people are mentioning ATI driver issues. I suppose that is worth a look, and i'll check and see what drivers i'm running and attempt a clean install when i get home. I just hope things don't get worse.
-
Ok, i'm not exactly sure where to start on diagnosing this problem. the short version is: Recently i have been playing in a lot of incarnate trials. After i do about 3 to 4 trials, i start getting really laggy. Up until that point, everything is smooth. If i am not dual booting accounts, i can play on ultra without any lag, however im usually too lazy to switch so i just leave it on performance even when playing on 1 (which is the case when i do trials). account. So far, the lag has only started inside trials, but then carries over to whatever else i'm doing there after. Zoning doesn't help, and neither does quitting to character select. If i completely shut down CoH, then reboot from launcher all is good again. Perhaps some sort of memory leak?
My CPU and Video Card temps are quite cool. This only happens in CoH.
What i am running is:
i7 930 Quad Core Processor
6 GB Ram
(2) ATI Sapphire 1GB 5850 Video Cards in Crossfire
Windows 7 64 bit Professional
I'm not sure what else i can give you to help, but i guess I'm looking for a starting point, or maybe hear from someone with a similar experience? -

I thought he meant boost a cyto, but i took a second look, and what you're saying makes more sense. I think the IO set dual enhancements are at like 15.4% at level 50. I don't know if boosting it really makes more sense than just putting in a cyto at 20%. What does that ~15 % turn into when you +5 boosted? i haven't boosted any defense IO's yet on my builds.
-
Quote:Unfortunately, enhancement boosters can not be used on Hamidon enhancements. The best you can do is make it 50++ by combining them like you would a SO. I tried using one on a Cyto that i recently slotted in place of an enzyme in weave.Considering this exploit has existed as common knowledge for 6 years and change... I was of the opinion that it wouldn't be fixed, rofl.
On the bright side - at least with enhancement boosters it can fix some of the slack created. At least for me since I haven't used them yet. -
I think Cyto's are already replacing enzymes in terms of price structure. They have spiked on the market to about 225 million/each. Of course they still wont give as much defense buff as the enzyme did, but they are still better than a dual IO.
Membranes i think are still kind of meh, they will work now at least which is good. -
Quote:I'm surprised by the feedback, really i am. There is no other way to getting purples other than getting a once in a blue moon drop, or your a mufti-billionaire on the market (which i am not). Though i bet most people are in this section, so maybe your view point is a little different . I can't find any other use for emp merits on some of my characters as I am nearly top tier on all my incarnate abilities on the character i wish to get purples for.Considering the effort in getting a purple to drop in-game I think the prices are very fair. Especially since you're doing trials which actually make one of your toons better from incarnating as well (as opposed to farming which doesn't do crap other than maybe get a badge or 2 along with the inf and drops).
The IO's i'm interested in are the PVP set ones also. I think the astral merit vendor is much more in line with what the emp merit vendor pricing should be in terms of time spent and risk vs reward. I think 20-30 emp merits per recipe would be a fair price point.
Yes, you can get 9 emps in a night, but that is not realistic unless you have no life and have all day trying to get into anything other than baf or lam on the most populated server. Even so, if i had spent say 5-6 hours running all of those trials, it would take me 36-40 hours of play time strictly trying to get 1 IO recipe at a time. That sounds like a ton of work.
Like one of the other posters said, emp merits are not the most efficient way of getting this. unfortunately the only "efficient" way is afk farming, or constant farming missions in game. That doesn't really seem reasonable. -
End becomes an issue in this case as there is no endurance mitigation in Blazing Aura, he/she is running the extra toggle in stealth, and with all that recharge will likely be seeing frequent rage crashes. I have a Electric/Fire and a SS/Fire. The builds are extremely similar to each other. On paper the difference with endurance buff/drain are negligible, but the SS uses way more endurance because of the power selections and crashes. I use top tier vigor in both builds. On the electric, i don't even need to use consume, on the SS i need consume, and have to be very mindful of endurance issues...and my build is a lot more endurance conscious than what is posted here.

correction, just realized who the two posters above me were....move along, nothing to see here. >> >>

Simple, When Issue 22 is released, Enzymes will dramatically lose their importance and market value as they will no longer be buffing defense buffs. Enzymes were supposed to affect defense debuffs and endurance reduction, not defense buffs, defense debuffs, and endurance reduction. On top of that it is giving a schedule A value (the only defense related Hami that does that, the rest are schedule B percentages). What does this all mean? It means that players who wish to use defense buff Hamidon enhancements instead of IO's will likely use Membranes instead. In theory, membranes value may increase as a result of these changes and drive up their market price. A smart marketeer (the OP) would be wise to buy up membranes cheaply, sell off his Enzymes while they are still worth something, and make a nice fat profit.

Like many other VIP players, I have been actively participating in the incarnate system trials. Over the course of a few weeks I have been actively trying to save my Empyrean merits so I can cash them it at the Emp merit vendor in Ouroborus for some vary rare IOs. So far, I have 20 merits and figured it was time to go see what I can cash them in for. Low and behold the majority of IOs available required a 40, 50 or 60 merits for a single IO! I am astounded at the amount of trials it must take to get one of these, let alone a full set It seems out of balance to me. I know that there is supposed to be some Dark Astoria content arriving soon that has repeatable trials (after the first one that gives 2 emp merits) to get 1 at a time, but still. It shouldnt take months to acquire a single enhancement/recipe. I guess my question is, does anyone else feel the same way and should it be addressed?
Additionally, after checking in with multiple merit vendors, I wanted to see if I could trade in astral merits for Empyrean merits, and it appears that the trading only goes one way which is down. Should we have the ability to trade up? Also, why is trading down from Emp to Astral a 1:1 ratio .that seems completely unfair for the time and effort put into these trials.
Anyway, that is my feedback and thoughts on the matter; if I seem off-base or miss-informed, by all means please correct me. -
I have a Electric/FA/Soul brute that i use mainly for trials and farming. Darkest Night on trials is sweet. I would take MU of course if it were strictly farming as it provides better DPS (as i did on my ss/fa). The rest of the build is strictly a farm build. I have to say, while it doesn't AOE the hell out of everything like SS does, my completion times are not far off and survivability is actually better because of soul mastery (not that it matters in a fire farm anyway if you're soft capped). When doing 4X8 farms, the minions and LT's just melt while i'm pounding on the bosses anyway. While the single target attacks don't match KB blow, they are fast activating and better on endurance (I don't even have to look at my blue bar and don't even need consume for endurance purposes). I do notice as a whole that SS/FA/MU (my other toon) eats endurance like crazy. That is even with a fully IO'd build, and top tier Vigor incarnate power. So, i would strongly recommend Electric primary if you are looking for something different.

I would imagine that you run out of endurance rather quickly as well.

After getting more involved in the trials i do see the benefit of having the higher level shift. I ended up using a free transfer to Freedom for approx 1-1/2 days. i spent basically a few hours that first night (when i couldn't seem to get in on one), and most of the afternoon the following day doing trial after trial. It was far easier to get on them because they have a higher population. However, i like the people here better and prefer to play with my friends. In that time though before transferring back, i took my character from +1 to +3 and capped out my alpha slot ability, and I'm on my way to doing the same with the other incarnate abilities.
As far as my playtime goes, i typically get about an hour after work around 6PM on weekdays, and then 2-3 nights out of the week i'll play from about 10:30PM -12:30AM. There are trial teams on Champion, but there is usually only 1 group running at at time (sometimes two). I managed to get in a very solid group of the weekend, but the fun was cut short with a cable/internet outage on my block (highly annoying when in the middle of a MoM trial). Thanks for the responses all, it just took some time to figure it out for myself what others had mentioned. I'm picking up these pretty quick, but don't yet feel comfortable to lead all of the trials yet. As soon as i do, i'll try to pitch in to keep them as busy as possible. -
It was most likely what you guys are calling a master run. From the original chat, I probably wouldn't have known the difference. I'm not butt hurt or anything that my request to join was simply ignored, I just wanted to get a better understanding as to the reason why, i never for one second thought it was personal. During my last couple of weeks playing on Champion, i have been noticing there isn't all that many people around to run this content with, at least when i have time to play. I guess that is most frustrating part. Perhaps i'm better off just getting my Incarnate drops elsewhere and transfer back when i'm all set. Thanks for the clarification about the badges, I can see why +3's can make the difference in achieving certain tough requirements.
To be clear, Where does the term "Master run come from". Are they "master badges" or something, hence coining the phrase? -
Just curious, last night while playing it seemed like the only trials going were people requesting +3's only. Are the TPN and MoM trials that challenging that this is required? I'm a little late to the party when it comes to incarnate content as i have only recently went VIP. My character was +1, and only a couple of threads from bumping to a +2 level shift. I haven't tried TPN yet, but last night i used a free transfer to freedom, and got in a baf, slam, and successful MoM within minutes of each other as soon as i logged in around 11:30 PM EST. The level shifts were ranged from +1's to +3's, no un-shifted level 50's on this team.
Obviously i can see why +3's are desired, but it does make it harder for those of us trying to catch up if we can't get into anything because of a level shift. -
ahem...
