Am I trying to download the update too early? When I update my game I get the following error:
Error Code: 8 (DownloadFileCorruption):
Corruption detected in a downloaded file 'C:\program files (x86)\ncsoft\City of Heroes\CityOfHeroes_Main_2240.201205190417.1.0To23 00.201205220319.1.0.ncpatch'.
I am given an option to repair the file but then get the following error code:
Error Code: 58 (FileGroupApplicationErrorRollbackNotAttempted):
Errors occurred while applying the patch,
and a rollback was not attempted.
The product is likely in an inconsistent state and should be repaired or reinstalled.
The patch application errors are as follows:
Error Code: 57 (ErrorRepairingTargetFile):
File could not be repaired: C:\program files (x86)\ncsoft\City of Heroes\piggs\stage3g.pigg.
Should I manually delete the stage3g.pigg file and try to repair again? -
I can't believe I forgot Global Friends! I don't have to add every individual character of my friends. I can even see them online when they are playing on a different server or make a new toon.

I have been playing COH since sometime around Issue 2 or 3. And in that time I have dabbled in a couple other MMO's from time to time but I always find myself thinking that COH did things better. So what did COH do that is so much better than those other games? Here is my list. Feel free to add your own bullets.
• Character Customization Pt 1 (The Costume)
Not only do we have the literally thousands if not hundreds of thousands of possible costume combinations to choose from, but we have multiple slots to save off different costumes for different occasions. In fact our costume creator is so good, that one of the complaints of the game I hear from time to time is that certain powers obstruct the costume in some way.
• Character Customization Pt 2 (The Type)
Assuming you have a VIP subscription and the Epics unlocked, you have 14 different AT's to choose from when creating your character. Each of which plays different from the rest. Not only that, but even characters within the same AT can be very different when selecting different Primary and Secondary Powersets. Taking that into consideration, you have hundreds of different characters to choose from each of which is unique. Going even deeper, you could even argue that two characters that are the same AT, with the same Powersets could be very different based on their personal choices of which powers to choose and focus on.
• Travel Powers
I can't begin to tell you how grateful I am to have travel powers early on. In other games I quickly get tired of running all the time until I can finally train into and afford some kind of speedier method of travel. In COH I can pick up a Travel power as early as level 6, or level 4 for things like Ninja Run.
• Mission Architect
The ability to create your own missions is simply just awesome. It adds a whole new level to making the game fit your own personal story.
• Sidekick / Exemplar system
For me this is the biggest and best part of what makes COH so great. I can team up with anyone, at any level and not be penalized. I honestly don't know why this feature isn't in more games.
Thought of some more......
• Global Friends list
It is very nice to add a friend once without having to add each individual character they make. Plus, my friends list carries over to all of my other characters so I don't need to rebuild it every time I make a new character.
• Audible cues for private messaging
I am often engrossed in the game and frequently ignore the chat window. Especially when I am soloing. To have an audible cue when I get a personal message is a nice touch.
• Inspirations
I will admit I am stealing this from someone else in the thread but it bears repeating. Inspirations that are not on a cooldown between uses makes the game sooo much better. The fact that you are limited in how many inspirations you can carry at any one time makes it impossible to exploit.
• Auctionhouse
I love the fact that the auctionhouse works cross-server. This gives lower population servers the same opportunity to get whatever they are looking for as higher population servers. Also, though it was not part of implementation, cross-faction auctionhouses is a nice touch as well.
• Level Pacting
I know it is not currently working, but the ability to level pact with another person is awesome. I can create a pact with my friend and not have to coordinate our schedules for EVERY play session. This goes hand in hand with the sidekicking system of course. -
You and me both. I crafter 2 sets of T4 Radial Allies before they changed the mechanics of them. Kinda felt like bait -n- switch.

Once upon a time you needed to have purchased COV to access villain content. And maintain a subscription of course. Eventually, they got rid of the need to have purchased COV and just required a subscription. How is this different? We used to need GR and now we won't. Just the subscription.
-
Why is this even an issue? Even IF Incarnates were part of GR, can anyone say that they bought it with the expectation that they will still have access to Incarnates after they stopped paying the subscription?
Premium players are screwed? How so? Before Freedom if you stopped paying your monthly subscription you lost all access to the game. With Freedom you can continue to play. Granted you will have restrictions placed on your account, but if you are expecting to experience the game as you did before as a paying subscriber you are just kidding yourself.
I have told several of my friends who used to play about the changes comming with Freedom. Some will come back to check it out, and some don't care for the restrictions to a Premium account. That's ok. They weren't playing/paying before Freedom and they won't after. As for those who do come back, they will either play for free under the limitations of the account restrictions, or they will resubscribe. It's a no-lose situation for NCSoft. -
As I recall from their panel, they have a system that awards bonus xp for skill based playing. Such as dodging attacks and such.
-
I could have sworn that there was a video several years ago that had GM vs GM fights. I've looked everywhere I can think of to find it but came up unsuccessful. Maybe my poor 'ole brain is getting confused again.
-
I can't find any references to it but I seem to recall that your origin can effect some of the Vet bonus powers. For instance I believe if you are magic origin and choose the blackwand power you get extra damage out of it.

It appears that NCSoft has so much stuff to present that they are going to have their own room for the duration of PAX. The schedule can be found at:
http://us.ncsoft.com/en/events/pax-2011.html#NCpanels
Also, it appears that the Meet and Greet will be at the Elephant & Castle again on Friday @ 6:00 pm -

So the schedule for PAX Prime has finally been posted and I don't see any panels for City of Heroes. Did I miss it or are they really not doing one this year?

I'm not sure if the tech is in place but I'd pay for a character recovery option for deleted characters.
The pricing would probably have to be scaled depending on how long ago the character was deleted of course and I'd fully expect there to be a limit of some kind. No recovery of characters deleted over a certain amount of time.
As long as the recovery took place at the point of deletion I don't think it could be exploited by dumping all IO's and influence first only to recover at a point before then. -
I could but I'm not sure what will happen with all of the duplicate entries. It's not a big deal. Most of my notes are from my primary account.
-
Thanks all for the answers. I was hoping that it would keep that list in a single file and not by login ID. I guess that makes sense though. It's just a pain since I have multiple accounts.

Does anyone know where Player Notes are stored on the computer? I have the game installed on two computers and would like to copy the player notes from my old computer to my new one.
-
-
You can. Uncommons break down to 8 - 10 Threads. Honestly I'd rather get the Thread table. At least that's a guaranteed 10 threads. What I'd really like is for the Uncommon table to include a choice of all the uncommon components as well as all of the common components.
-
I just wish you could combine them in the 3 to 1 ratio to get something else that you might like better. Like say.... the Ultimate one.
-
Nevermind. my bids seemed to have magically reappeared. must have been a temporary market hiccup
-
has anyone else lost outstanding market bids since Issue 20 was released?

Is there anywhere I can go to help me decide what Lore Enhancement I should slot for my character(s)?
The in-game descriptions tell what pets are summoned but not what benefits the pets give. -
Like a lot of people I rate scale from 1 - 5 with 1's being someone who I wouldn't want to team with again and 5's being RL friends.
It'd be nice if player ratings showed up in chat as well. If for instance I saw someone was looking for a team and I saw that their name was proceded with a single star I'd instantly know to avoid that team. -
I think I joined one of his teams the other day. A call came out that a STF was forming and was asking for tells with AT and powersets. I told him that I was an Ill/Rad controller who would like to join. He then asked me if I had Fallout and Lingering Radiation in my build???
So I join the team and we are waiting for the last two spots to be filled. Our team is pretty strong with a good combination of Damage, Buffs, and Debuffs already. I see a couple people post that they would like to join but this guy is looking for Specific powersets. He can't seem to do this without an Empath and another Kin for some reason.
At this point I realize I don't want to run this event that bad and drop the team. I made my own team later with the first seven who wanted to join and did great!
