  1. Yeah, most bugs were tolerable to some extent, but this one has actually prevented me from playing, except for the one character I already logged in and lost power trays with.

While I've been using the NCSoft Launcher to keep my game client up to date, I always launch the client using the old "bypass the updater" shortcut.

And even after the old launcher was canned, this method still worked.

(There is an actual reason as to why I launch that way - it has to do with some keyboard shortcuts that I have that do not work when I used the old updater)

Either way, as of last week that method was no longer working. The game would launch and I would get to the login screen - enter my info to login and then the game would hang until an error message popped up about not being able to connect to server, check firewalls, etc.

However, using the NCSoft Launcher to launch the game allowed me to login no problem.

Incidentally, my keyboard shortcuts do work through the NCSoft Launcher even though they wouldn't with the old COH updater.

Still, figured it was worth mentioning.

Also, FPARN! (My first one me thinks) ^.^
I use the "direct game launch" method as well, and it also stopped working for me recently. Based on the IP address information posted in this thread (thanks!) I found a registry entry that needs to be updated:

    HKCU\Cryptic\Coh
The entry to update is labeled "Auth" -- changing it to the new IP address, 64.25.36.88, allows launching the game directly (bypassing the launcher) again.

I really do think this is an infrastructure problem on the hosting site.
I have been having this issue as well, for a couple weeks, and...

Wow! I tried blocking "http://boards.cityofheroes.com/clientscript/yui/yahoo-dom-event/yahoo-dom-event.js" with AdBlock in Firefox (which basically prevents the browser from trying to download that script), and forum response picked right up again. Thanks for the tip.

Will see if it stays that way.
  4. Didn't know there was a thread before you mentioned it. Thanks, it was fun.

From that screenshot, left to right, I think...

    Tripp Breaker
    Heavenly Stormy (mostly obscured)
    Lora Claws
    Billy Rain
    Wraith-Blade

  5. I don't post much, but just wanted to say thanks again for the rename. Having my forum name match up with my global is awesome.
  6. Sorry, I was unclear. Yes, I meant that they didn't say we would be locked out of bases, not that they did say we wouldn't. So, the previous poster's statement about nothing being mentioned about base lockouts was not a misremembrance, as Recluse had said.

    Confusing enough?

And yes, I'm a bit disappointed if it does lock us out of the base.
  7. Yep. I also remember a specific mention that we wouldn't be able to use functional items, not that we'd be locked out of the base. In fact, that was a big reason our small SG decided to go ahead and make a base anyway -- we figured we'd just avoid paying rent and use it as a social place to start with.

In fact, I saved Lord Recluse's post about this:
    [ QUOTE ]
Rent does not cause item decay. The affect of rent is that your functional items become non-functional. You can be offline for a month and your base will be unchanged. Back rent does not accrue. All you need to do is make the most current payment and your base is fully functional again.

  8. Just out of boredom, here are some numbers for SR scrappers. It's an Excel spreadsheet and shows the defense debuff resistance by level and power. There's a spot toward the bottom to enter in your level and powers and have it calculate automatically, too.

A couple warnings about its accuracy: I made the assumption that the resistance scales up linearly by level, and this may not be true. Also, in the calculation at the bottom, I'm assuming the resistance from all the powers stacks, like Statesman said above.
  9. Also re: sonic's accuracy. I did some testing in HeroStats a week or two ago, and over a couple hours with even con minions, acc seemed to be pretty close to 75%.

The numbers (Brawl is just for reference):
    Shriek: 447 hits, 611 activations (~73.16% acc)
    Brawl: 533 hits, 720 activations (~74.03% acc)

Hi all, can anyone tell me what the bind for recall friend is that alloes you to lshift (or what ver key you want) and click so that the power activates and targets in one action? Thanks.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I haven't done it myself, but I imagine it'd go something like this:

    bind lalt+lbutton "powexec_name Recall Friend"

To use it, you would probably have to have a teammate targeted already, then alt+click near yourself to port them to that spot.
