They could either go improve old and/or unfinished stuff, or they could work on new stuff. And given that choice, they simply often did not have time to work on the old stuff.

    I completely understand that different players have vested interests in different parts of the game and/or its lore, and if you're saying that the parts of the lore or game you cared most about were never going to get fixed, then yeah, you were probably never going to be satisfied. It's ludicrous though, to ask why they ever did anything to start with. You always start things thinking they'll have the use and focus to justify maintaining or improving them ... and sometimes you're wrong.
    This has nothing to do with personal preferences. All of these questions bundled up together encompass a huge part of the game, if not the whole game and pretty much the standard phases i've seen were these two above. It didn't really matter to which issue they were addressing themselves as to how frequently they were doing it. If for every question all you have to answer is "i don't have time for this or i can't work on that", then maybe you should consider a change of working environment. Part of being a developer as i see it is creating new content which finds me in complete agreement (even if you check some question's answers that have to do with new content still contained the "no time/too much work" motto) but fixing broken things is equally important as a quality of life thing.

    It is pretty much irrelevant at this point, but while that document reveals a very impressive amount of knowledge, it gives me the opportunity to say that i would...never subscribe to the game again. Why?

    Because in every other question the phrases "we didn't/don't have time" "too much work invovled" keep crawling up like maggots. I'm sorry, but i'm talking genuinely out of interest and not personal spite. If you can't do this or do that or you have no time, why did you bother with anything at all? Why did you bother creating things if you cannot maintain them? For example, you said that Grandville (as you have described), was a "poorly made in the first place" and you explain us in the end that it "It would’ve been, I believe, 2 solid months of an artists time to fix it; unfortunately, it was time we never had.", or that a second ouroboros, which is pretty much new content would put a huge strain on your resources. Well, that happens with new content now doesn't it? I was very dissapointed by these answers. All these interesting (and sometimes vital proposals for the modernization of the game) would probably never come to fruition even if the studio hadn't closed. Meh...

  5. Hey folks,

    I just resubbed back after couple of months being off and i decided to roll this toon that i had in mind before i take my leave. I brought it up back in Mids and tweaked with it a bit more and this is what i came up with:

    48,3% M Def, 46,3% R Def, 41,3% AoE Def.
    71% S/L Res.
    2,05 End/s.
    165% Recharge, with Agility on Hasten is permanent.

    With Agility Core Paragon the defenses go up to 52,2% M/49,7% R/44,7% AoE and the End goes up to 2,24 End/s. In my opinion, these are very adequate numbers, even without any Alpha slots around. I will probably keep Power Boost in Incarnate content as a panic button to heighten my defenses to over 75/75/65 for a bit until i pop greens or anything else to survive.The problem that i will have on incarnate content is that BP will floor my defenses down in no time. I realize that this will mostly be the case when i up the difficulty on absurd difficulty levels, such as 4/8. In your opinion, could this build withstand lesser difficulties and if so, up to what numbers?

    Any other changes are welcome, as long as there are no purple sets and the two high end defensive unique IOs.

  6. My first character was a MM. Aside what you or the numbers might say, i found it a very easy archetype to play, even if i was dead broke and with none to guide me through. Commands didn't matter for me all that much as long as i could throw my lackeys in and help them out. In this fashion, not getting hit and letting your guys do all the job, is pretty straightforward. In time, i started to formulate strategies that bypassed weaknesses of my character (an example of that would be poor defenses) in an attempt to work around these said weaknesses. I started looking on online guides as well for extra information, but i realise that i might have been an exception. A lot of people won't go into researching their AT.

    I still, firmly believe, when fate decided that i should play the MM, it wasn't the key binds, of which i never ever made to any of my MMs, and certainly not the different commands to better my henchmen's AI. It was the notion that i was a damn Mastermind commanding some underdogs and no commands or anything else would spoil my ambition for total world domination!

    So to any other soon to be Masterminds out there, don't let anyone else let you down. Pick your favorite underdogs and go out there to rule! The rest will eventually come by themselves!

    I take it that it's dead? And just when i was looking for a SG for my Kheldian...
  8. Hey, thanks for the reply. Well...i'm not OCD dependent, so any numerical value that seems ok is fine with me. I've came a long way since the time i posted this.

    I made a new build and i've decided that softcapping s/l/e/n wasn't a good thing to do, because i spread my slots in too many powers that i'm not going to use, so i focused down to get as much recharge as possible, then try to raise as much as possible Melee/Ranged/AoE defenses, so that with one or two purples i could be shielded by any type of attack and not just attacks with the s/l/e/n tags. I kind of have achieved that; the build im currently sitting on (and after getting some in game advises), focuses primarily on recharge, then everything else is dumped on defenses. I tried to keep the defenses above 30% so that with one purple i can almost be softcapped. All major powers of the build are perma, baring Haste, but i'm alright with that, since you can amend the situation with an Agility Alpha, plus your defenses will go up around 32% and be on the ideal spot for 1 purple.

    I'm genuinely intrigued about how this character will play out. it's not a character mindset that i typically play, so i find it interesting to see how i will fare!

  9. This thread needed to lay off next to a corner and die ages ago, but you guys continue to bump it right up in the first place...

    Why in the cosmic multiverse of interdimensional common logic would scrappers require a buff to their unique inherent power? Tell you what, you can have your Surveillance wannabe inherent with any other small changes on your part, but they're going to remove your critical. Sounds retarded? I hope it does, because OP's proposition was as well.
  10. Then go for it! I always like supporting headstrong people...only to watch them fall ahahaha!
  11. I'm not sure i can agree with your need to get defenses higher than the softcap, when you are sacrificing ranged and AoE softcap for an overextended Melee Def. Both your builds come undone when it comes to the softcap, except the Melee Defense. I've done some iTrials myself and though i'll admit i might have less experience than you, i've never ran into a situation where i will have to "tank" or otherwise catch the AV's/EB's attention without actually being a tank, in order to warrant defenses higher than the softcap or mez protections other than what my classes or usual slotting provide. When push comes to shove, as you've said, pop a Clarion and move on.

    And let's say that Incarnate content is indeed high end content, i doubt you will run incarnate content 8 straight hours a day. I'm sure you will do something else in which your softcap will kick in.
    Just because DA is there, it doesn't mean that you absolutely have to pick it up. Not with /nin anyways. If you were running on /regen, i would cherish it like nothing else, but on /nin it's meh...:P
  12. Well you can swap the HOs for the Def+Def/End LotG to keep the build in a budget. They pretty much have the same effect and only impact your end usage. I know 1 Shift proc is almost worth of an EndIO, but really...i prefer 2 EndIOs, since they're giving steady end not on a chance factor, almost the same end as 1 EndIO+Shift proc. So, i guess it's up to you whether or not you want the extra bit of end, chance based, or the steady end stream.

    Why would you care for Divine Avalanche? You aren't doing anything in your ST chain besides swapping it for Sting. Mids depicts Sting as doing more damage with a faster animation, so i can't see where's the problem dumping DA when you are already defense capped in all 3 positions. Plus, it saves you the trouble of relying on an attack that needs to be refreshed every bit. It might not sound big, but maybe once in a million you will forget to refresh the buff and die. The only way DA would be good is when you are up against opponents who debuff your Defenses, but then again, any build relying on Defense would have the same problem.

    Knockdown...yes i forgot that. you can put a zephyr on your CJ and be done with it!
  13. Hey,

    I took the liberty to play around with your build. The first build that i've made pretty much falls into your restrictions, with the difference that your level 30 power is Maneuvers and i phased out Focused Accuracy in favor of Assault, since you've said you want Damage as a primary parameter and also phasing out Divine Avalanche for Sting of the Wasp.

    In short the differences in stats with your initial build:

    Yours -> v2.0
    Melee 50%+ -> 43.5% + 2.17% Softcapped
    Ranged 37.4% + 2.17% Supressed Hide -> 45.4% + 2.17% Softcapped
    AoE 27.4% + 2.17% -> 29.8% + 2.17%
    Damage 22.5% -> 35.5%
    Recharge 91.25% -> 87.5%
    To Hit/Accuracy 6.4% + 108% -> 6% + 73%
    End/s 2.01/s -> 2.3/s

    I believe you gain more than you lose. Here's the build:

  14. Alright...so i never bothered playing a PB/WS, because i never had a character concept and the lack of outside options, baring common pools, seemed alien to me...until now. I have an interesting character concept on my mind to run a PB. The problem is, i've been searching 2 days in a row for decent PB builds, but there aren't any. I'm studied memphisbill's PB modus operandi and i found it interesting, so i went out on MIDS to make myself a build.

    Needless to say, i failed horribly because i had way high expectations from a tri-form build. So, i narrowed down my options whilst staying true to my character concept and decided to go human/dwarf "tanky blapper". I liked that idea, but after achieving decent s/l/e/n, it turned out that i had to pay a steep price when it came to recharge. So, i started to think that if light form is perma, all that resistance must account for something, so i decided to drop my s/l/e/n requirements to around 35% for each. I kind of have achieved that, without the use of purple/pvp IOs with the exception of the pvp Defense unique, but i believe the build might have some room for improvement.

    TL;DR: Human/Dwarf Form, throw couple of AoEs, then run in melee range for facecheck. minimum def s/l/e/n should be 35%. At least perma LF and Perma Haste should be a plus. I need some serious help here and all assistance will be greatly appreciated.

  15. Ok so i respecced, said oh wth...So far i'm seeing a huge improvement on the aoe. I've placed in only one FF proc, due to the internal cooldown it has, and changed the other procs to damage procs for an extra punch. I've placed the centriole and a positron's dam/range to Mace Beam Volley and its capable of hitting a lot of mobs, even if they are exactly below your hovering character. Build Up is always up every 20 seconds.

    My ST chain normally is Poisonous Ray-Mace Blast-Poisonous Ray-Mace Beam-Poisonous Ray...Repeat.

    My Aoe looks like this; Disruptor Blast-Mace Beam Blast-Mace Beam Volley-Mace Beam Blast-Disruptor Blast...Repeat.

    So far, i'm pleasantly surprised. ST Bosses have a tough time with spammable Poisonous Ray and the thing i have observed is that the KB from the AoE attacks does not scatter the enemies a lot.
  16. In reality, only one of the attacks is a ranged cone (baring Crowd). Mace Beam Blast and Disruptor Blast are targeted AOEs. I'm envisioning the use of Crowd Control as a BU Stealth crit opener, then hover back to range and start blasting with your AOE/ST attacks. The Dominion proc was already in the Mace Beam Blast and i find the usage of the whole ATO set in Mace Beam Blast a waste of potential. Poisonous Ray is your best single target hitter and aside from Crowd Control which accepts Obliteration, i couldn't find a better power to slot the rest of the ATO set. Increased range on PR would be a good addition. PR's range with 3 Centrioles is just a bit above 60 range, so that could help for hoverblasting, which in turn diverts the need to slot the full ATO set in Mace Beam Blast.

    Yeah, well, you can't perma it and it lasts only for half a minute, which is ideal only for tough nut situations. Granted, it has no crash and gives superior resistances, but still...im not seeing any decent +def on /ice. You know, /ice is like the middle way between a defense and a resistance set, decent on both sides, but master of none. If i wanted to run a set with resistances, elec seems much better. Recharge, mezzes, a heal, resistances, drain end and pretty much everything else /ice offers except the mediocre s/l/e/n defenses and the slow/damage debuff.
  18. Your build seems decent, but let me pin point some of the things that have me thinking:

    The Recharge is not that bad. Actually, i don't care about recharge at all, but on a build that relies on zero pets, i have to make for that up somehow. Also, there were situations where i used the pets and because the enemy spawns where cramped together, they ended up getting aggroed and they pretty much died in a flash. I wanted to make a build that doesn't rely on secondary damage sources and make it as it is.

    As the title suggests, it's a hoverbane, i don't know what purpose can a softcapped melee/aoe defense achieve when all of my attacks have KB. Even if you go up against enemies like KoV whom their bosses have fly, you could spam your KB all day long and watch them fall down like flies. I knew i could softcap to all defenses, but i chose not, knowing that KB can mitigate any other shortcomings. I don't really care about mob scattering, since i'm not competing for time performance, so having the enemies off their feet is enough for me. Lastly, i find the end usage of your build somewhat lacking. Generally, in any build that i make, i try to keep reasonably high, around 2.2 end/s, without the use of Cardiac.

    Ok apart from that, on a more personal thingie, i have a Huntsman with pets, who pretty much shares give or take the same build like yours, minus the mace attacks and plus any other power related to the huntsman flavor (Venom Grenade etc.). I just, for once, didn't want to make a "Banesman". :P
  19. I have an Elec/SR stalker. The pros, like the others mentioned, is that you can easily softcap him to defenses and divert all other bonuses to recharge or something else that you deem fit. The problem that most have been citing is that he cannot sustain himself. Well...enter Hibernate. Pop it, remerge with full health and cooldowns, fun starts again. Debuffers giving you a headache? Hibernate. Want to herd? Hibernate. Would you like your kids to school by themselves and leave you alone for the rest of the day to play CoX? Hibernate :P. Here, this is the build i'm done halfway through. The problem which i am currently experiencing is the fact that almost all powers share the 5%/6.25% recharge bonus, so it's very hard if not impossible to go above the perma haste cap without investing in purple or pvp sets. An agility alpha is always a good option too, but in this case i'd throw my money on Musculature. End wise, i believe the 2.2 end/s is enough, but YMMV.

    DERP

    I hope the devs will leave the blaster AT as it is if you are going to act like that, because let's face it, blasters are WAI with multi billion builds, so thats fine in my books. So long as the Blaster AT has knights in shining armor like you, i see a bright future ahead! On a more personal note, i couldn't mind either if they threw them back into oblivion from whence they came from.

    Nice video by the way, your performance totally justifies your multi billion build.

    I can't wait to hear your thoughts on this one, but bear in mind that aside from Crowd Control the rest of the attacks are all ranged. So in the end, you will use Hover for blasting from afar, not for going into melee, unless you want to initiate with Build Up+Crowd Control, then follow up with your ST or AoE attacks.

    Also an interesting fact that i've just seen is that all attacks share the same casting time, so i presume, the same ArcanaTime.
  22. Yes, you didn't read wrong, i'm talking about a HoverBane, with the baseball bat and all that. I'd like some critique on this build. Started as a wtf build it turns out to be pretty good as far as i can check.

    Highlights of the build:

    Strong AoE potential with fast cooldowns and good mitigation.
    Perma Hasted (Currently sitting at 193.75% rech).
    NO REDRAW of any sorts. All are mace attacks, except surveillance.
    Strong Single target damage. Poisonous Ray steals the spotlight.
    Space for 3 FF procs.
    2.23 end/s
    Ranged Softcapped, AoE and Melee are not far behind.
    Can use Crowd Control as an opening move for huge dmg/mitigation, then follow up with ranged AoE attacks.
    Humongous To-Hit/Acc.
    Did i mention this is a HoverBane?

    Cons:
    No pets
    Crappy resistances, like all Banes.

    Ok, constructive criticism is more than welcomed, and any adjustments to the build are welcomed. The only thing that you will have to pay attention is that there should be no purple/pvp IOs.

    I presumed you could understand. By having more life in and after a fight, then the only outcome is that you have less downtime outside of a fight.

    Knight, i find the proc pretty useful for my Huntsman, when he has no ways of green bar sustenance other than greens. When Single Shot has an animation of ~1 sec and an activation cycle of ~1-1.5 secs, while Burst has almost the same animation time for ~2-2.5secs cycle time, without going into the maths, the numbers that you have provided seem way better.

    For some ATs and powersets, i can agree that this proc should not be very useful, especially if you have a heal of some sorts. But, depending on your build, it can be useful in its own way.

    Yeah? Well, i beg to differ. If you have a lot of single target attacks and sets that give their best bonuses up to 5 pieces, and don't know what to put in the 6th slot, having a built in heal helps insanely, both inside and outside of a fight. Less downtime means you are clearing the content faster!

Aside from Ray/Shatter redraw, your single target attack chain deals very low damage. If you wanted to make SS/Burst buzzsaw attacks, you're doing it the wrong way. I'm pretty sure that with the standard debuff these powers provide, your attacks will rarely miss, like mine do.

    The point of having a huntsman is the ability to be a good jack of all trades, and huntsmen are known for their fast attacks. Without shouting out the need for more recharge, i believe that you could do much better with higher recharge. It's funny that with enough recharge your ST attack chain can be SS-Burst-SS-Burst or even SS itself, though i advise against that. You can easily fit in Venom Grenade, as in VG-SS-Burst-SS-VG-SS-Burst-SS-VG.

    Also, your end usage is absurdingly high. I'm not saying that you should be perma end free or stuff like that, but with your build in a cramped situation, you will go out of end very fast. Shatter is a very costly attack and SS/Burst are in my opinion more useful outside of stealth, because they allow you to use hovertanking and stay safe.

    Just my 5 cents.
