Also holding out hope for a new round of free server transfers, since the Alpha Slot was another game changer.
I don't think its unlikely, either. Since its so expensive to transfer volumes of characters, especially if you have to remove characters to make room for the ones you want. The company seems to know this, and has made free transfers available before -- and they know its a crowd pleaser. This will be especially important to them (please the crowds, that is) as DC Online releases in mid-January. Free transfers would be a great counter-marketing move to keep some of us busy here rather than exploring over there.
My prediction: We'll see free transfers right around January 11, 2011. (And you heard it hear first ... as in, this totally unfounded rumor.)
Happy Holidays all! -
I wish we could adjust the men's (and women's) body types so we could have out of shape heroes or even Blob-style villians.
Back in the day, when Lee & Kirby first created the Fan4, they weren't muscluar at all. Just regular body types. -
As someone with altitis (and enjoys switching frequently between toons) I found it very time consuming with the new Stamina set up.
But the biggest chore is the Alpha slot. So many of my toons are 50s that I thought I would enjoy this. But running the same arc over and over for so many of them? Sheesh.
To me this has all just increased the grind factor and lowered the fun factor. X 20. -
Thanks for all the ideas. I'm a little surprised that no one has mentioned using the patch for Mid's moving Stamina into inherent status. I've started that - but with so many alts even that is labor intensive.
Moreover, since I use Mid's to help me determine what my defensive bonuses are, I now find myself wondering if these numbers all change with the addition of the Incarnate Slot, which may eliminate some of the caps that I thought were absolute.
Guess I'll just continue doing what I'm doing. -
As I understand it, you get one free respec with the launch of issue 19 and another one a week later. But do these two respecs stack?
Like so many of you, I have a LOT of alts. Will it even be possible to respec ALL of them into inherent fitness in a single week, leaving the second respec for the alternate build? Or will we just do as many as we can in the first week and then have all the time we need to use the second respec on those that we didn't get around to, and simply forget the alternate builds?
How are you guys planning to handle it? -
As long as most people are only "in" an SG/VG, rather than build one, the demand for low hanging fruit will be ignored (in my opinion).
I think one solution would be to allow players to belong to one SG - AND be able to create their own one-person bases. (Not either/or).
What got me started with building bases was that I was tried of being locked out of treasure bins, which to me is the second biggest plus to an SG (after the teleporters). So I created my own which gave me the ability to save all the salvage I needed to create IO sets for my alts.
But this locked me out of many SG activities like TFs, etc.
Having both memberships would not only be more fun, but more "realistic" too. Just because Iron Man is in the Avengers, doesn't stop him from making his stuff in his own lab, right? And the more people created these add-on SGs, without losing their bigger SG privileges, the more voices base builders would have to be heard. -
As someone who has been in other people's SGs and VGs ... and who has moved out to create my own ... it seems to me that there is one basic reason DEVs don't seem to care about base building ...
Put simply, it affects too few people.
So do these posts, who ARE the few (and the proud)....
That may be why I never see Dev's even post a response to all your low hanging fruit, wish list ideas, etc. I may be wrong, but except for the MAC threads, Base Construction has the fewest number of pages and posts on them. We are too few.
You would THINK everyone would care, since the vast majority of players are IN a SG or VG. But basically, they're their for the teleporters and med bays, etc. Most don't even get to share in the treasures of storage.
So while I really don't mean to sound like a troll here, I often fear that these posts are all just "spitting against the wind."
I hope I'm wrong. And would be happy for someone to link me to a Base Building thread where the dev's were really involved in the conversation. I would very much LIKE to be wrong.
It seems to me such a reasonable request for the low hanging fruit goodies that others are asking for. But the most active thread on the subject here has drawn no response fron the dev's. Nada. Zero. Zilch.
Classic case, I think, of the needs of the many outweigh the needs or the few, or the one. -
I heard a rumor that to help promote sales there is going to be a new CoX contest -- and that FIRST PRIZE was going to be a free Party Pack!!!
(Second prize is TWO free Party Packs, and third prize will be THREE free Party Packs.)
Has anyone else heard about this?
Or is this the kind of post that people normally call "trolling"? -
Thanks for the direction. Had thought of ranged defense for my blasters, but wasn't sure if there wasn't something else I should be looking at.
-
Long time player but only recently have I been slotting my IOs class appropriately.
I have a invul/energy tanker and a broadsword/shield scrapper that both benefited BIG time when I slotted for Defense cap -- mobs can barely touch them.
I have an illusion/rad controller that benefited BIG time when I slotted for Recharge -- my phantom army is now virtually perma!
But that makes me wonder what other AT combinations benefit from specific slotting benefits.
Any and all information greatly appreciated. -
Quote:Tier 3 Empowerment Stations...
You'll need to craft a tier 1 station from a crafting table
then use the tier 1 to craft a tier 2 station,
then use the tier 2 to craft a tier 3 station.
You could prolly get by with a tier 2 station for a while, but if you do a lot of TF/Trials/(CoP)... you'll want the tier 3 eventually.
.
Thanks, Kat. Hadn't even considered these. Probably only needed the Teir 2 ... but went with the Tier 3 because it looks so much cooler. -
Just did my first morality mission and got 50 merits. I had 47 merits already for a total of 97. When I went to the Fort in Atlas, I checked in and saw that you could only up convert once every 20 hours. So -
Question 1: Am I better off waiting until I get 3 more hero merits before I convert? Or no difference?
Question 2: The 20 million inf. fee for upconverting, does that go up by 20 million for each 50 hero merits I convert ... or does the one fee apply to all merits I convert?
Question 3: Is the 20 million fee for converting a one time/first time fee? Or do you get charged each time you up convert?
And lastly --
Question 4: I see you can get the recipes you want for 1 or 2 A-merits each. Or you can get 5 random drops for 1 A-merit. Are you going with the specifics or the random, and why? Also, what kinds of drops are you finding in the random pool? How good are they? And do they exclude the drops you specifically can buy?
Any and all information appreciated. -
Ha! Imagine my surprise when I learned what you guys already know. I just came back from Best Buy where I happily bought G.R. the complete collection for $29. I had made all kinds of slots available for my server in anticipation of transfering over toons. And not only were the free transfers not available - neither were any of the slots I had waited so patiently to fill.
Still, I'm hopeful it will all be figured out -- and fixed -- soon. -
My solo SG had 8 teleporters and a very basic med bay which had maxed out my energy/control - and then discovered I had enough prestige to upgrade to secure base, and increase # of generators to 2, and add more control. Immediately, I added 3 more teleporters and all my remaining beacons.
As I begin earning new prestige, what should I consider (slowly) adding or upgrading next? When it comes to base-building, I'm a real novice and never thought I would have a larger base. Is it all just decorative at this point? Or are their real benefits to save up for? -
Justice, thanks for the great ideas. Can't wait to get home from work and plug these into Mid's and see the hard numbers.
Concept wise, I don't like the idea of hovering while I fight, so CJ makes a lot more sense to me. But I've hated Super Jump ever since I first used it -- and tried to find the top, hidden level of the Mystic caves. lol.
I have the option of running CJ and Fly without Hover because of Vet rewards, but the idea of running two power pools for one power each is unappealing. (Currently, I'm relying on temporary Jet Paks to fly.) CJ and Manuevers sound good.
The most surprising thought here was dropping the Fighting pool and giving up Tough and Weave. In some builds I got my resistance up to well over 60%. But your logic makes sense and I might try this with my other active build and see how well it works for me. Another surprising thought was the use of Confront to increase my defense. I have never taken Confront with a scrapper but might try this too.
Question: How often do you use self-heal? I often solo but don't tend to get hit alot even now, without IO bonuses. Carrying a couple of greens has usually been enough. Do you think that's because I'm only fighting mobs in their 30s - or even lower, when I do flashback arcs rather than TFs to get my share of merits? -
This is the thread I've been looking for since I created my first BS/SD scrapper. Really good information here.
Two questions, though --
1) Is there any difficulty melee fighting with Hover on all the time to get the defense. I don't see why there would be but I don't think I've ever had a melee toon that used hover before. (Of course, this is my first melee toon to concentrate on defense rather than resistance.)
2) Since I don't need the epic for theme purposes, if I replace caltrops with One with the Shield my resistance goes from the mid-20s to 60. But is it worth replacing the Targeting Drone with either combat jumping or manuevers for the last power pool pick? They would take Ranged and AOE Defense even closer to 50? Or is there something else that would work even better with this build.
Thanks. -
Twilight, could you post your build? I've been trying with mid's to figure out how to get to the soft caps on defenses but melee keeps coming in too high (57%) and range and AoE keep falling short by over 10% (34.1%). It may be because I don't have in IO sets yet, but on one of the guides the soft caps were reached and yet when I tried to duplicate it, I had the same short numbers.
Any and all help appreciated. Especially the build from the toon show. : )
Thanks,
A.S. -
Quote:Checked with Paragon Wiki as suggested earlier, which said 20 email max. (Did not say a day, though.) Were you able to get 150 a day? With attachments? And as Kheldarn found out, there is a 150 e-mails a day limit. I think it's per account.
Anyone else able to go over the 20 max. number? -
Just tried the new email system to send token influence (100 influence, since people reported losing millions) ... and enhancements. No problem with the influence, but found that I could only use the attachment box to send one enhancement (whichever I put last in the box).
Not sure why I thought that we'd be able to attach multiple items in an email, other than that's how regular email works.
Can someone confirm that this is working as intended ... or am I doing something wrong? If it is working as intended, this isn't complaint since attaching one thing is better than attaching nothing, especially since you can keep sending yourself new emails. Still, I'm hoping I just don't know how to use the new email system yet.
Anyone know for sure? -
Quote:Nealy 61 here. And wonder how many players even know of Jack Benny. : )By the way, back to the topic, with a nod to Jack Benny, none of us are really over age 39 (so we've celebrated a few age 39 birthdays).
Almost in a Superhero mode (Man/Superman), George Bernard Shaw thinks that in our minds, no one really ages beyond 18. Of course, he didn't really take mortgages and putting kids through college in consideration, did he? lol. -
If you're pre-ordering the GR expansion to get the new power sets early, please enjoy them. (I probably will, but haven't fully made up my mind yet.)
However, if you are not pre-ording GR - and money is the issue - don't fret. Because sometime during those "extra" months, Demon Summoning will probably be on the Test Server. So while some of us will be playing with our cops and cowboys, you may be playing with demons in dungeons.
Also, if anyone is concerned about missing out on 2X weekend with the new powerset, consider this: Most of the fun is in leveling up - which is why more than 3/4 of my level 50 toons are sitting on a shelf, gathering dust, and not being played.
(In fact, I took advantage of the free server transfers to move many of them to other servers, to free up space on two servers I primarily play on.)
Regardless of what you do, have as much fun as you possible can. -
Thank you, Twilight Avengers, for organizing and implementing a precision-sharp raid last night. Man, that was fun!
