Funny, the more you guys list of these (which if you read my original post, I clearly said was pretty much beside the point), the more obvious it is that they give out information that changes later all the time.
[/ QUOTE ]
And if you re-read my post you will remember my response that the reason they don't widely disperse the information is experience had shown us the huge amount of whine and tearing-of-hair that can result when they say one thing and have to go as different route for whatever reason.
You asked for examples.... any number of people beat me to a response and remembered even more instances than I alone would have. They answered your question.... how it applies to the rest of your post about the market doesn't matter because thats not the point they were responding to. They were answering your request for examples of when experience has shown us that the playerbase can be less than mature. -

What happens to arcs if the player who created them goes inactive?
Can trial accounts use the MA? ( Better not... )

I'm still on my first cup of coffee, and haven't been able to kindle the CT reactor yet this morning, so apologies if it's obvious to everyone but me, but what am I missing? What's the problem with letting trial accounts use the MA?

Freak Slicer: Oh no! It's Captain Dynamic!
Tank Smasher: Don't worry! We'll mop the floor with him! He can't afford all the best enhancements like he could if he'd only bought 10 million influence from www.stupidgoldsellingwebsite.com for only $10!

OMG it's diabolical, I never even thought of that...
I'm torn between amusement at the idea and horror... -

Also, your playerbase is by and large pretty mature. Telling everyone "Yes, you will be able to buy Pool A,BC,D,E and Purple Recipes as well as Randoms at the Ticket Vendor", and then at some later date deciding you don't want C and D in there, wouldn't cause the kind of chaos you seem to think it would. Especially if you just plainly stated that you use that information at your own risk, that it could change, many of us are adults here and can quite easily deal with that.
[/ QUOTE ]
Experience has demonstartated that many of us aren't that mature. Whenever the devs announce something with the caveat: It may change, and it does... well... there's alota screaming. I too would like the information, but I can accept a position where in it's better to insulate oneself from possible fallout as long as possible.
In a few weeks Beta will open up (hopefully) and we'll have all the info we need (with the standard caveats). We're just gonna have to ride out the storm of people playing havoc with the market -

1) Can we include non-targetable buff/debuff items or environmental effects.
If we can are they considered part of certain maps or are they just selectable for any map?
What I'm referring to is the CoT crystal spammers, those patches of blackness in some Croatoa missions that debuff you... (though theyre never placed close enough to a group to actually impact a party) ... magma pits or those violent winds that knock you about in one of the CoV missions ....
2) Can we create save the hostage missions? If we can create a hostage mission, are hostages customizable?
Can I have my sg play through the "Save (insert my characters name here)" mission... when they get to the hostage will I be standing there (having re-created myself) and will AI-me be able to to follow them to the door or help them with the rest of the mission?
Questions aside I love this issue. Small but full of wholesome goodness -

I too am cautiously optimistic. The change so far sounds positive I simply wait to see if there is truth in advertising. Honestly though (and I may kick myself) I don't forsee a massive screw up here unless NCSoft refuses to heed the advise of Positron and his team. These are good people who I have admired (more-so since they took the helm of the game) I thik NCSoft would be stupid to underappreciate their opinions. The fact they bought the team over whole though... says to me they too agree this team is bright and capable.
I'm also reading about expansion talk and more... I don't know about you but the idea of that excites me! It was somethign that seemed to fall by the wayside when Cryptic was in charge. I honestly couldn't see them NOT favoring one of their super hero titles over the other... The sale was necessary and right-minded.
One question: How does this change the policy toward in game advertising? Just interested... I actually think done well (which I would expect from this team) it could be cool. Of course I've heard some horro stories too. -

i'm surprised to see so many devs playing WoW... aren't they the enemy?
[/ QUOTE ]
Know thine enemy. Plus inspite of being the root of all evil and injustice WoW has many positive experiences that I can understand any Dev wanting to sample so as to increase his/her own personal "gaming experience" palette. Hell even I played the game. I learned what I thought they did right and what I thought they did wrong. That information informs alot of the opinions I have about this game which I love. -
My favorite travel power is Flight. In rl I'm deathly afraid of heights and there are moment in CoH/V where I'm hit with vertigo (happens especially if I get the arms flailing plummeting animation).... but since it's a game it's safe controlled semi-exciting vertigo adrenalin-rushyness.
I love being able to leap off buildings, and often try to time my fly just right so it activates at the last minute and I hopefully don't take damage...
Super Speed is almost too fast for my tastes most of the time and SJ too uncontrolled (though better than when the game first came out). Teleport is like a high maintenance friend... I like to visit but don't want to stay around too long. Fly is somehow just right (though a bit more speed would be nice : ). -
Well, spent this morning calling the 20 Walmart stores with in 30 miles me (I figure thats a good cut off point : ) And none of them seem to have a single GvE box on their shelves. Again most of them are telling me that it's probably only an online store exclusive... if that's the case I wish we would have been told.
I suppose it makes sense though... CoX probably isn't a massive seller and an edition that will only draw those who want to save download time or those who must-have all available perks well that's not gonna be a big seller. Shipping it and guessing at demand would probably be hard too. Feh I guess I'll wait for the NCSoft online version... though I really wanted the DVD disc with all the updates. -
Feh, I've called just about every Walmart in the area (there are about 20) and I can't find a single one that knows anything about the box or whether they will even have it. Most have expressed doubt that they will since with a shelf date of tomorrow they should have seen it already.
Not really familiar with these exclusive through one store offery things : ) When they say that do they mean only the on-line store... which from many of the ppl I spoke to seems possible...
Has anyone found out if a store near them has these in their backstock ready for tomorrow or should I just order over the web now?
Thank you -
OK ran a MM on villainous (2 man team) went OK till White Swan showed up as an Elite Boss.
Her in addition to the constant swarm of ambushes caused multiple deaths. If their is even a possibility of generating an EB my Dominator is going to hate doing these missions... -
Awry can you tell us what power the woman surrounded by strands of light (last picture down) is using? I'm hoping it's one of Ghost Widows... basically I'm wondering how different the power animations are from their base power... I like swirly light but not so much the shadow and darkness that comes with the dark powers.
-
Adding my voice.
I love the concept behind unlockable content. Crimson'd storyline that leads to a fight with Mynx and Back Alley is fun. Repo ing body parts for Doc Buzzsaw is just hillarious... I like the idea of mini stories that don't make or break the game if you don't do them.
But like many others I hate that I stumbled across the info regarding them in the forums. I leveled a toon to 40 and another to 38 before I knew they existed.
I don't like the short lvl range that you can access them. For the 30+ game 5 lvls is good but before then in the press of doing your normal contacts missions you can easily outlvl the unlockable content.
I do have to admit though. I've played CoH since pre-sale and this is the first time I've actually wanted to get any badges. Before this I largely ignored that portion of the content. -

PSI IS NOT A RARELY RESISTED DAMAGE TYPE. IT IS ONE OF THE MOST RESISTED DAMAGE TYPES IF NOT THE MOST RESISTED IN THE GAME
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
i'm pretty sure there are some assault rifle blasters, trick arrow and archery defenders who might want to argue this point with you.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's the problem. In the PvE game psi began as the most unresisted power but as more groups were added and changed from Issue to Issue more resistance/defense to the damage type was added. Now, in CoV, I cant turn a corner from lvl 1 - 40 without my Mind/ Psi toon meeting something resistant or highly defended against Psi. To make matters worse when something IS resistant it is usually VERY resistant.
In PvP though very few powers offer resistance to psi.
This dichotomy is frustrating to those of us who only take part in the PvE portion of the game. -

But as I said, the rosetta stone is electric blast drain. If my view is correct, defenders should have higher end drain for electric blast than electric blast blasters. If yours is correct, then electric blast blasters should have higher end drain than electric blast defenders. Which one do you believe is proper, and which one do you believe best reflects the devs intentions?
[/ QUOTE ]
OK, set aside for a moment the question of electricity's end drain for blasters and defenders. Now look at the larger picture. For almost two years many Defenders have been trying to get across that in quite a few ways Controllers outperform them. They've tested and posted values, they've argued till they're blue in the face.
Finally after almost two years a Dev has given numbers and made statements that show that in some cases its true. Yes Blaster/Defender comparisons don't hold to the primary>secondary standard... but generally that doesn't affect Defenders nearly as much as Controllers near matching and often outperforming them in the use of their AT defining sets. -

Longbow Nullifiers do not have any such power. They do not have any attacks that remove buffs or any detoggle effects.
High level Longbow Spec Ops have EMP Grenade that drains a lot of Endurance which might have been what you experienced. They've killed me by draining my remaining Endurance which turned off Granite Armor. They're minions though so they're easily killed and should be dealt with immediately.
[/ QUOTE ]
I can't remember if its the Nullifiers or the Spec Ops but Long Bow DO have a detoggle. As per Geko and _Castle_ its Mag100 and lasts 1/4 of a second. Its there completely to detogggle. According to olther red names though it is being modified to something that isnt so horribly offensive. -
Welcome Nomad... nice to see you with a blue background.

Mr Emmert,
Scrappers are Boss/Monster/AV killers right? All those things have pretty high accuracies, especially now that our slottable def is restricted. Since an SR scrapper can never guarantee that the next two shots arent going to hit him (and since ED makes it much more likely they will than before) no reasonable SR scrapper is going to hang around at the 20% health point. Unless the buff is pretty darn good most of us would satrt looking for cover.
I really don't have an alternative suggestion ... sorry. I do know I think -
[ QUOTE ]
I've alluded to this in a couple of places, but I wanted to describe something we'll be doing for Super Reflexes quite soon...
Super Reflexes Auto powers (Agile, Dodge, and Lucky) now add some minor damage resistance. This Damage resistance starts at 0%, but improves as the caster loses HP. The Resistance kicks in at 60% HP (when HP bar first changes color) and markedly increases at 40% and 20% (again, when the bar changes color). We have not yet determined the exact values.
This change is in addition to the recent modification that gave most Defense Primary and Secondary powers resistance to Defense Debuffs (self Defense powers).
[/ QUOTE ]
Is it slottable? If you have Agile AND Dodge is it better? If you have Agile, Dodge AND Lucky is it better still? -

Just because you're in SG mode doesn't mean you automatically get Prestige. You still have to do things.
[/ QUOTE ]
What things?
[/ QUOTE ]
I assume that you get prestige like infl/or xp when in sg mode...
So being in sg mode doesn't necessarily do much. But being in sg mode while hunting and gaining xp/infl will also acrue prestige. Just my thinking.
BTW I think this makes perfect sense. It makes excellent use of an ingame option. I do see some holes though, I know alot of SG s that require a whole costume slot and that everyone don that costume during sg play. Such groups wouldn't get the credit they deserve... I still like the idea though. -

There is no way you can "accidentally" know the private name that only her father calls her from "casual surface contact" Knowing that sort of thing requires you digging around. No one thinks of their own name constantly.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually I could point you to several studies that point to a person's identity always being at forefront of their mind. My thinking was also based on reading her file and seeing how important her name was to her... Sorry I misunderstood.
My perception of how my characters powers work, and I've tried to convey this through my writing, is that he constantly hears thoughts. It is not an effort. They are voices and his mind is an ear. He can focus to pierce barriers, to get past blocks, etc but the act of knowing someones name (as was stated in one of my earlier posts, before I even read your character stuff, was that names were the first and easiest things to come to him (again this was based on 6 years of study and an advanced degree ... of course that degree isnt in telepathy... since there is no empirical data to work with... but rather study on how a mind functional and dysfunctional works). I'm sorry my concept for my powers doesn't fit in with the way your character concepts work. To reiterate, my character is not actively scanning anyone. Im basing my Telepathy off of Sci Fi shows such as Babylon 5 (where Telepaths were angered at the constant need to wall themselves off from other peoples thoughts), FireFly (where River is constantly flooded by other peoples thoughts and emotions and it is progressively driving her mad... as well as other things) and Demolished Man by Alfred Bester, to name three.
Again I tried to convey that my character was confused by what he was hearing ... I thought I got across that if he wanted to understand anything clearly he would have to spend time with both of them pushing through the muck.
I notice in your post that you consistently retain the distance from your character that is reasonable by using their name but when refering to the actions of my characters you repeated and aggressively use "you". I am not my character.

I am very serious about this.

Zot will react as if you had sexually assualted her.... what you do is actually worse.
[/ QUOTE ] Please don't compare a reality with a fantasy. I have experienced this kind of assault in the pursuit of my degree there is NO correlation. This is offensive hyperbole ... especially when you consistently refer to the culprit as me rather than my character.
[ QUOTE ]
But I will NOT react to a complete mind reaming as if it were nothing.

I warned you in e-mail and I am warning you again now.

I joined this thread because I wanted to get a feel for what this kind of role-playing was like. I have an extensive history with table-top, LARP, and computer role-playing systems, but other than Nobilis (which I ran ) I have never engaged in something quite so free-form. I read through the various threads and chose this one because the players seemed well spoken and cohesive. As of now this has stopped being fun for me. I have been offended, warned and compared to a rapist by someone who wishes me to work with in the bounds of her character concepts but will not acknowledge mine . Feel free to dis-include my character in whatever manner you find fitting. I enjoyed my short time with you all. I wont miss checking the forums every hour or so trying to keep up but I will miss your writing (both before I joined and after). I hate that I missed out on the 30 pages that got deleted.
It was a pleasure meeting you.
[edit] I am sorry if my character's knowledge offended anyone else. I thought I was doing a good job of being vague yet insightful. If anyone else feels I rolled them forgive me it was not my intent.

Eric put away and looked at the two new (relatively speaking) people. Zot and Halo, since he hadn't recognized them he hadn't included them in the circle.
2 minds? No one...? Dissociative Personality Disorder? Internalized Imaginary companion? Alien , Beta, Elisbeta, 2 minds?
All of these things leaked from Zot's mind and Eric turned away from her towards Hal.
Mental word salad verging on glossolalia. He would gladly ignore her but she was so passionate that meaningless thought and emotion leaked through. Hypomania...
Eric forced his mental ear away from her and saw the feline woman with a gun.
Elisa.... beta? No just Elisa the other was Elisabeta... odd congruence. Not from this world either. Odder congruence... even in Paragon city that was rare. Connection?
Eric walled away his mind shutting out the intrusive thoughts of others. -

So, now that he has been rebuilt and re-defeated, any chance we can still find out where he sent Abrahms and the boss?

"I have 2 ideas if someone is feeling suicidal... If thats the clock that can teleport people away... let it rebuild itself and let it take someone who is capable of teleporting away or teleporting people to them. That might get us there or it might get someone there who can get out and tell us where they are.
If we dont have someone who can tp... then let someone get caught and I might be able to find them. Of course that a MIGHT... the further they are from me the harder they are to find...
Of course that depende on the thing deciding to port its victim and not just rend it limb from limb. It doesnt have a mind like other things so I can't really read it. Thats all I got... Anyone else? -
As the group moved to deal with smaller caliber combat Eidolon allowed the connections between their minds to slip.
He sat on the floor pulled out a handkerchief and began wiping his hands furiously... as he did a small but excep0tionally strong field of force wrapped itself around him. Very few thing could penetrate this bastion of personal safety...
Eidolon cleared his thoughts and allowed himself to regather his mental strength, all the while cleaning his hands... trying to wipe away some stain that no one else could see.
"Does this happen often here? These... uhmmm ... base raids?" -
[ QUOTE ]
"STAY THE FRACK OUT OF MY HEAD DAMIT!!"

Joy, not here a day and already he could feel the love roling off of Rough Justice. Eidolon debated removing him from the circle but they really were fighting better now. After a moment he sensed a quiet self-admission from RJ that the situation though deplorable to him was helping... so he kept him in, filtering out for the others RJ fuessalade of unvoiced cussing and venom...
He sent quickly to everyone:
Justice I'm sorry for the intrusion... I reacted without preparing anyone and Im sorry for that. I havent been here long enough to give the Telepathic Tutorial so ... Im sorry.
He quit there to maintain the connection. There was a strange drain on his concentration, as though he had connected many more than the few heroes in this room. A quick survey lead him to the quirk. Newton was simulataneously managing multiple perception points. Screening out the irrelevant data was taxing. Eidolon's impression of Newton rose. This was clearly a well developed mind. He debated for a moment trying to buy his way out of Delphi's bad graces by giving him to them... No, he decided. I'm not GOOD but I'm not a MONSTER either.
Poison seemed to be reacting well which was worrisome... Most people reactions were closer to Newtons reservation or RJ's rage. Poison seemed to fall into the situation easily, his instinctive mind latching onto the removal of chaos and assertion of order. He desperately hoped the man-turned-insect never analyzed the situation too carefully. One of the conclusions could be that this semi-hive-mind appealed to his insect nature more than his human one.
"Geez guys how often does this kind of thing happen" Gesturing to help focus his intention he swung his arm as clock and clock bits flew into a wall.
He sent telepathically to all of them:
Can anyone here layout a massive area of damage this one at a time thing on the little clocks isnt working....
