Rage = +80%, AAO (max with 10 targets) = +65%, Assault = +10%, Enhancements (roughly) = +95%
For a grand total of +250%
I'm not trying to be a jerk to you Kruunch, and I hope that you take this in a constructive manner. That being said, every single time I read one of your posts where you talk about numbers, your numbers are always wrong. If you're going to try to give people advice, please make the effort to know what you're talking about before you post.
There are already enough wrong beliefs in game. Please don't add to them by giving people yet more wrong information. -
[ QUOTE ]
Okay, what's everyone want to do?
[/ QUOTE ]
See, this is your problem right there. The first rule of being a leader is to always act like you know what you're doing.
I solo a lot and I team a lot. When I feel like teaming I never have any problem finding a team, even on Liberty heroside or Infinity villainside. First, I type up in a notepad file: "Hello. Would you like to join my team in Steel Canyon for some non-AE missions?" I then open up the team search window and copy and paste that via tell to a bunch of people in my level range.
As people come on the team I type; "Welcome aboard. I'm still recruiting so it'll be just a minute then we'll get started." Or words to that effect. I never type like l33t or plz or ltf? R u a r3l grl? I always type like my english teacher was watching. When you're leading a team that makes a huge difference.
Once I get a good balanced team going I pick a mission and we start rolling. If it's a story arc I'll type something like; "This contact has some great missions, but he has a bad habit of sending people to just about every zone there is. Sorry about that in advance everyone." Just one of the reasons I prefer Fly as my travel power. Try typing that while you're teleporting.
Watch what's going on. If people start griping about something try to address it. Kick trouble makers. Invite new people. If people start complaining; "ZOMG! We needs a healzor!" You could say something like; "Let's try one mission with what we got. If it doesn't work in this mission I'll recruit us one." Then just go into the mission. If someone is going to quit because you don't have a h3alz0r, or they don't like something you're doing then "Waaah." They can go solo or whatever while your new team of hotness has fun. If the team does well you'll be surprised how quickly peope will forget that h34Lz0rS [censored].
After a couple of missions I'll say; "Gotta dump off this loot/train up/bio break. Let's take five everyone. Smoke 'em if you've got em."
And my last tip: put a little effort into making it fun. Throw out a one-liner now and then. TGIF! Tanks Go In First! On characters that I team a lot with I'll even have a few macros to liven things up a bit. My main tank used to throw out lines like; "I'm here to kick butt and chew bubblegum. And I'm all out of bubblegum." One macro would activate taunt and say; "Bring it on $target! I like it rough." Since my Tanker was a tall busty blonde that particular line was always good for a laugh or three.
Leading a team can be fun. Can it be hard? Sure, if you're the kind of person that frets about every little thing or actually loses sleep over whether some guy you don't know out there is still upset because you kicked him your team. -
Starsman, have you considered proposing a more limited version of this idea? Something like this:
All Tanker single target melee attacks would apply a stackable -10% resistance for 10 seconds and do +20% damage vs EBs, AVs, Monsters and Giant Monsters only.
This accomplishes several things:
1) Doesn't really increase soloing speed, except against those certain hard targets. This is good because Castle appears to be dead set against allowing Tankers to have any increase in soloing speed.
2) Helps Tankers with teaming. Some people have mentioned how "unnecessary" Tankers are nowdays. This can help them be more attractive to teams, especially when said team might be encountering an AV. Also makes it a little less "mandatory" to have a Rad or a Shivan on the team.
3) Helps multiple Tankers to "stack" better than they do currently.
4) Conceptually accurate. The Tanker only unleashes on those hard targets that can take it.
5) Since it's not a click power it's not "gameable." (One of Castle's favorite words.) -
Like other posters here I don't agree with all of the details, but I certainly agree with the general idea. If the devs were to adopt such an idea they could tweak the details/numbers in such a way as to make it more balanced between those who like the idea and those who do not.
When the Rikti zone raids first came out the biggest complaint (ok, the second biggest, the biggest complaint was the lag) was that the players could not influence the outcome. While it was still on the test server literally hundreds of ideas were posted on the forums on how to improve the raids and make them more interactive.
And like 99% of the suggestions we make while an issue is on the test server they were ignored.
When the zombie zone raids came out the biggest complain was that they were quite obviously using nothing more than a rip off of the Rikti zone invasion code. Even down to the zombies not spawning if you were under cover, which sense for the Rikti invasions not so much for the zombie ones.
Reading your suggestion just makes me sad Ultimo. Because it's one of dozens of great ideas that I've read on how to improve the Rikti zone invasions, and I know that it will never ever happen. -
[ QUOTE ]
So the devs should pour energy into a system 99% of their players will skip?
[/ QUOTE ]Yeah, but isn't that what these devs specialize in?
For reference please see: Arenas, Boomtown, Dark Astoria, Ouroborus, Level 10 IOs, PvP Zones, and all four Shadow Shard Zones.
[ QUOTE ]
the new guys are smarter than the old ones.
[/ QUOTE ]Yeah! Our current devs are way more smarter than the ones that spent all of that time and energy completely changing the way PvP works thus preventing them from having enough time to do any improvements in bases whatsoever, way way back in Issue 13.
Oh wait!!! -
To those that think Desdemona is fat:
Google some of the sex symbols from the past like Clara Bow, Bettie Page, Jayne Mansfield, Jane Seymour, Marilyn Monroe, and Ursula Andress. That's what sexy women actually look like.
If those women look fat to you, then you truly have my sympathy friend. Because if the starved little waifs with their plastic breasteses and curveless 12-year-old-boy figures that dominate the magazines and movie screens of today are what you find attractive then you're going to have a difficult time finding any woman that you meet in real life attractive. Cause in real life women do not look like that.
Have you noticed how almost all of the actresses and models today are all curveless, bony, and have breast implants? They have to have the implants, without them they'd have no breasts at all. How people can find women that have starved themselves into a near-skeletal state in any way attractive is beyond me. -
I really like Kings Row. I like it just as it is. Compared to Villainside it's downright cheery and bright-colored.
Plus I like Blue Steel. Most of my characters go to him for their training, and for their last session of training (to 50) they always go to Blue Steel.
So I guess that what I'm saying is: "no." -
First off, many of the games that you've listed (slots, card games, roulette, card games like poker or blackjack) are illegal in many states and countries around the world. This could cause some problems for NCSoft and for players that live in those countries.
I also believe that the developers taking the time to write the codes to place those games into this one would be a waste of their time. Time they could have spent fixing bugs or giving us more missions, costume items or base items.
If you want to play poker then log off of CoH/V and go to one of those websites and play poker / blackjack / roulette / whatever. That kind of stuff doesn't belong in this game, and if the devs tried to bring it into this game they'd just screw it up anyway.
[ QUOTE ]
not one other thing i mentioned in the OP was a good idea?
[/ QUOTE ]I am trying to be polite, but no. Importing any of these games into this game just does not have any upside, no matter how you look at it. -
Ok now that I've had the time to read the Overview page and think about things for a minute, I have a few questions:
1) Will I finally be able to ditch that Tri-corder?
2) While it's nice that Defenders will finally have some Tech options, do you guys realize how OMG not funny low Defender AR damage is going to be? Not only does it not even have Aim, but unlike Blasters they won't be able to pair it up with something other than Devices to get Build Up.
3) No Broadsword for Tankers and Brutes. Why not?
4) No Super Strength and Energy Melee for Scrappers. Why not?
5) Themes? Does that mean that my Energy Blasts can eminate from a Blaster Rifle instead of my hands now?
Looks like you guys may have really outdone yourselves this time! Sweet! -
[ QUOTE ]
hmm, either you have a much better graphics card than me or i need to kick more sorcerers out, because i am positive i have seen the legs seperate
[/ QUOTE ]That's ok. Just go ahead and admit that you were wrong and that I was right. It's ok. You can do it! I know you can.
(Of course this being the internet you and I both know that he will never admit that I was right.)
[ QUOTE ]
babs was pretty clear on this a while ago, but we will go through it again, he NEVER SAID that power customization was something we were not going to get
[/ QUOTE ]In the past a least one dev has posted that it's unlikely that we'd get power customization because of the massive amount of work that would be necessary.
The point that I was trying to make is that there are characters in game right now that have ankle-length robes/dresses and that they do the same martial arts moves that the players do. My point is that if the NPCs can do it then the devs can figure out a way to allow the players to do it. They could if they wanted to put the effort into it.
Whether or not it would be worth the effort necessary to make it happen is a completely different topic altogether. -
[ QUOTE ]
also, thats not a skirt, its more like a hakama, a pair of really broad pants...
[/ QUOTE ]
Move your eyes to the left please. That Sorcerer is wearing a robe. An ankle-length robe.
Yes I know. The devs have said that we're not going to get power customization and long robes/dresses. Both of those things would be far too difficult to add to the game. That's too bad because power customization would really rock!
Oh wait... -
[ QUOTE ]
Which, incidentally, is also the reason why Martial Arts was claimed to be the reason for the lack of long skirts for females for years.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep, and I always believed that was true, until one night in Dark Astoria I saw this.
Notice the high kick? Notice how there is no clipping? If he can do that then so can we.
I wonder if Champions Online has long dresses/robes? I'd bet that if they did then we'd get them too, if not then I guess we won't. -
[ QUOTE ]
Harrumph!
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't know what you're upset about. A person whom you don't know has stated that they don't believe 100% of what you say. Why should that surprise or offend you? Intelligent people don't believe anyone 100% of the time.
Besides, I just gave information from which you are the source a higher reliability rating than your boss Positron. And I suspect that I'm not the only one that feels that way. -
[ QUOTE ]
Not when BAB says it.
He may be a good Dev (in fact I know he is) but basically nothing he says in this forum about things happening in the future can ever be completely trusted 100%. He has a bad habit of having "limited" credibility in that area whether on purpose or not. Ironically if he's telling the truth here he's "embellished" other statements so much it's hard to take him at face value anymore.
[/ QUOTE ]I know that I mentioned this in another thread not too long ago, but I currently give BaB's statements a higher reliability than I do Positron's.
The fact is that Positron has made several point blank concrete statements (for example: the respec will be given out on the 21st) which then turned out to be completely untrue. The respec was not given out on the date that Positron said it would be. Things like this have happened more than once. Also, a number of other posts that Positron has made were also untrue, but it is possible that we misinterpreted his meaning. Unlikely, but possible.
I currently have Castle listed as Highly Reliable. This is because he doesn't often make concrete statements, but when he does they've either always turned out to be completely true, or he has come back to the forums and posted; "Whoops, my mistake. Starsmans post was correct" or "Here are the corrected values" or words to that effect.
I rate Arcanaville even higher at Highly Reliable/Functionally Accurate. While not a dev his posts have been more accurate than theirs, and unlike the devs since he is not an NCSoft employee he has no motivation to disemble. -
[ QUOTE ]
Seriously, if it bothers you so much that you're willing to pay cash for in-game items, just change your play style a little.
[/ QUOTE ]Nothing is bothering me. I just thought that this would be an interesting topic to discuss. Perhaps you'd rather go read in and post in one of the 8,374 threads on how the AE is killing the game right now. I suppose I could go make another one of those, would you prefer that?
[ QUOTE ]
And please, don't insinuate that this game means more to us than our families do. That might cover some folks here, but not everyone.
[/ QUOTE ]I was not doing anything of the sort! All I was doing in that sentence was listing things off of the top of my head that people do instead of playing on the computer. Geeeeeezz.
I swear, some of you on this forum just go out of your way to take offense at everything! It's like I walk in and say; "Hello everyone. How's it going?" With a smile and a wave. But there's always one of you in the back who jumps up and screams; "Don't you take that tone with me!! It's not any of your business how it's going for me! You just mind your own business."
Seriously, some of you really need to quit getting offended and bent out of shape at everything. -
How much you wanna bet that Positron's statement to give us information about Issue 16 in july gets conveniently forgotten?
Just like they conveniently forgot his statement back in December about the date that the respec would go out.
Just like they've conveniently forgotten his statement about nerfs mysteriously not making it into the patch notes.
Etc... -
I think that any mission that gives out a temp power should also be added to Ouroboros.
Sure some people like to collect badges and Ouroboros is great for that, but some people like to collect temp powers, and a number of them can't be gotten through Ouroboros. -
Some of us can spend the time in game to get the merits to get the IOs that we want.
Some of us have to spend that time at work, with families, or with other real life issues. We do not have the time to get the Infamy/Influence or Merits to get the IOs that we want. But we have another commodity instead of time. A commodity that we get in return for our time at our jobs, a commodity that many of us would willingly give some of to NCSoft in return for the time that we are unable to spend in game getting those merits.
That commodity is money.
Merits/tickets/Infamy/Influence, those are the commodities that you earn in game in return for your time. Money is the commodity that you earn in the real world for your time. I often wonder if NCSoft has ever, in the interest of this remaining a casual MMO for casual players who don't have hundreds of hours to spend in game, considered selling Merits for money in the NCSoft online store.
And if they have considered it, should they do it?
Would it be as great an addition to the game as IOs were? Or as big a mistep as putting the AE building in Atlas Park just a few feet from where newbies enter the game world? Would this contribute to more PvP activity on the live servers, and give the PvPers more time to spend PvPing? Or would it worsen the already wide gulf between the casual and the hardcore? -
[ QUOTE ]
You're confusing opinions and facts.
[/ QUOTE ]Actually I'm not, but you are correct in that many people do.
Opinions are essentially non-factual statements or preferences about subjective topics. They can't truly be wrong, but they can be against the agreed upon norm. Far too often many people will make a statement or a claim about something and then attempt to shrug off logical arguments with "well that's just my opinion." This usually happens about 5 seconds before I tell them to get out. I'm too old and cranky to deal with idiots like that anymore.
Anyway, opinions can be "wrong." As an example there are quite a few people in prison who do not believe that they should even be in prison. In their opinion their actions were acceptable, society however has collectively decided that their opinions are "wrong." -
Sorry for jumping in so late.

It's impossible for an opinion to be wrong. That's why they're opinions and not facts.
[/ QUOTE ]I've always found this phrase to be very annoying. Almost as annoying as that stupid phrase everyone spouts if you dare to ever use the word assume. It is very possible for an opinion to be wrong.
If someone says; "The sky is green, but that's just my opinion." Or if they say; "Humans have 3 hearts and 2 brains, in my opinion." Or; "Gravity doesn't pull down, it pulls up. In my opinion." Guess what? That person is wrongity wrong wrong wroooooooooooooooong! Also if a person says; "I think that Defender Electrical Blast does more damage than Blaster Fire Blast. But that's my opinion." Am I not allowed to tell that person how wrong they are just because it's their opinion?
Opinions aren't facts, but opinions can be wrong.

Then why did Invulnerability get buffed?
[/ QUOTE ]Invulnerability got buffed despite our asking for it to be buffed for years, despite Castle saying it didn't need any help, despite Castle saying that he was not going to buff Invuln. It got a buff because Willpower Tankers were surviving better in the Imperious Task Force better than Invulnerability Tankers were. That is the only reason that Invulnerability got buffed. Notice that the buffs that Invuln got were resistance to debuffs. Yes, I do know that the passives got a slight buff to damage resistance, but the purpose of that was to add a bit of psychological push so that people would actually take the passives again.
At one point I had links to Castle's forum posts that would back up my statements, but due to the great forum purges those posts are now gone. That's ok though because you cannot argue with me. It is impossible for me to be wrong, because the above is my opinion! -
<QR>
One more, but I'm not sure what you'd call it. I call it the:
Great AE Badge Revocation.
I guess that'd be Graeber for short. Or Gaebr. Or maybe just GAE? -
Well I don't know about all of that old testament stuff. I do know that it's Friday, and July.
I'm hoping that Positron will give us some ISSUE 16 info.
C'mon Positron! Give us a hint at least! -
[ QUOTE ]
Now I can't help imagining that Calvin Scott no longer gives his TF because Aurora tied him to the bed the second she got control of her body back. He's still there today.
[/ QUOTE ]
If I remember correctly one of the rednames said that Calvin Scott not being physically present in the game would prevent the players from contacting him for the second mission. Or words to that effect.
I seem to remember people suggesting physically putting Calvin Scott in some enclosed location that the players could not access just so he would exist in game. However, with the Pillar of Flame's "Teleport to Contact" function that might present a problem.
Also having those minor storyarcs present in Ourboros for people who've missed them to run is a great idea Eva. Even if they didn't give badges or merits it's still content that's been missed that people could do/redo. -
[ QUOTE ]
Maybe because it's not a simple thing to do, like I had already said they said? No, that'd make too much sense! It must be a conspiracy! It's always a conspiracy...
[/ QUOTE ]You know, no one here is flipping out and screaming "it's a conspiracy" except YOU.
I was kinda hoping that we could calmly discuss Ouroboros and the flashback feature. I see however that a few people seem to have gotten it into their minds that I am attacking the developers and hinting at conspiracies.
I am doing nothing of the sort.
I apologize to you sincerely if you believe that I have attacked the developers, your mom, or yourself. I wasn't trying to attack anyone. I was hoping that we could have a thread and calmly discuss Ouroboros. I guess that would be too boring. I guess that pouncing and slashing and drama are much more fun.
So can we please put the knives away? Can we just calmly discuss Ouroboros? Or must the screaming and accusations continue?
Geez, I can't even discuss anything on this forum anymore without the Dev Defense Patrol leaping on me like a pack of wild piranna determined to destroy me and defend the honor of the developers. -
[ QUOTE ]
You're jumping to conclusions.
[/ QUOTE ]I'm not jumping to any conclusions.
I never claimed that it would be easy. I don't know if it's easy or difficult, I don't work at Paragon Studios. It's just that what you claimed was said was not what was said.
Yeah, the Ouroboros zone isn't exactly empty. The area around the portal is always full of people zoning in and zoning out. It's just the rest of the zone that's usually empty.
EvilRyu does have a point. All of the hero accolades can be earned either through normal play or via flashback. That's just not true of the villain accolades. They could fix that, and I've often wondered why they haven't yet done so.
