On top of it, if I wanted to design something, most of it would be signature to my characters only.

Problem with paying for a review:
What if you pay for a review and it is declined?
They can't allow just anyone to pay 5 bucks and add any old crap into the game, which is what people would be expecting since they PAID for it.
So, you would have to spend real, hard earned money to get the costume generator in the first place. Then you would have to spend MORE money just to get a review of your creation. And THEN there's a high likelyhood that your design will not meet the developer's standards and will not be approved.
If something like that were to happen I could just see all the ragequits occurring because someone's Wolverine clone costume didn't get approved after they paid for a review.
The things we pay extra money for are guaranteed. If you buy a Booster, you are guaranteed to get all the costume pieces you paid for.
They cannot make the same guarantee with player created costumes for any number of reasons including copyright/trademark infringement, indecency/nudity, and the worst one, just plain poor quality.
Would anyone in their right mind pay $5 to possibly get a cheeseburger? Of course not. But most people are willing to pay $5 for a cheeseburger that is assured.

Well if this was a fact, I'm sure they would charge you after your costume was approved. -
Yeah, so many people would be submitting outfits. Even though CoH has such a great customization system, I think it'd be great to expand it a little more. Being able to use the same color system as the speech bubbles to color our outfits would fix so many of my problems for one thing. Id also like it if we could section the body off a little more for customization like coloring the eyes, more accessories (wrist bands separate from gloves, necklaces, rings, tails being separate from belts, etc). This has been said over and over again.
As for your question, joshdex: I adore making every costume slot as individual, original and detailed as I can relative to any of my other characters and other characters I have seen. As for paying a fee to submit my own costume design, I wouldn't. For one thing, sooo many people would be submitting pieces. In order for anyone to see your custom costume pieces, youd have to upload it to CoH and then the Devs would have to send it through patches to the users. Custom costume pieces would be the same thing as a font on a website - if you don't have that font on your computer, it will change to a default font such as Arial or Verdana. Not to mention the ratio of badass costumes versus goofy crap costumes on this game are completely unbalanced. In the end, I personally wouldn't want to give the people the power to create their own costumes. There are enough monotonous or simply the run of the mill black and bright red costumes running around. Call me an elitist, but Id love this tool for myself and I would pay for it if a select few could use it because I specialize in designing original characters in and out of CoH. I just wouldnt want to be forced to download everyone crap who wants to make a multicolored Mickey Mouse. I say forced because everyone would be making their costumes in vain if no one could see them. Therefore, itd be pointless if we werent forced to download it. Thered be so many bugs in the game if you had the option to not download custom outfits.
I would pay to get an additional costume slot though! -
Yeah I suppose that's why I suggested the extra AoE and how it only damages as people attack you. I felt it'd be good to sort of make it a mixed tanker between stone, ice and willpower, but not as good as what those individual sets do best. Making it another extra-tanky choice would be kick [censored] too though.
-
Well, it could be interesting if all power sets had some sort of alternate power(s). In the case that if you pick one certain power, another of the same tier would be greyed out. Besides slotting, power preferences, IOs and all that makes characters independent, different ability choices could make characters of the same primary/ secondary be a little more different than the other. Anything that can make my character more of an individual besides graphics, I am up for it.

I like the idea about insect swarm. For Plant Melee, an AoE power called Thistles would be pretty cool. Sort of like like Icicles, but enemies are only hurt when they hit you. I guess that wouldn't really help to taunt mobs that aren't hitting you, but there aren't any AoEs like that in CoH. It'd be a mean mix to have both Insect Swarm and Thistles. I think Rachel put the melee powers the best though. Perhaps sweeping branches can have a chance of imm?
I think that the armor definitely should have a supreme regeneration over other tankers or equivalent to WP. Thats how I've always perceived plant powers. -
Check out my idea.

I am all for building on search filters. -
Good ideas, JD. Rogue ATs would rule. I personally would rather see assassins with some kind of new martial arts moves relative to the martial arts power set. I just don't picture an assassin doing a spinning back hand. Usually assassins are precise and to the point. A spinning back hand seems a bit reckless. It'd be sweet to see a throat chop and watch the stunned foe grab his own neck. Or chop in the back of the neck to knock them unconscious for a few seconds. Also I'd prefer dual pistols to be a scrapper/ stalker. It'd be more fitting.
Guns have been in comic books for decades. Its a perfect alternate power set for natural/ tech/ mutant origins too. I wouldn't call anyone with guns 'Super', but if they're marksmanship is greater than the standard soldier, its pretty damn impressive. -
I've been wanting this for a while. I use ALL of my costumes slots on ALL of my characters. I try to make each costume relatively diverse. I really like the suggestions about how to get new costumes:
- New costume slot at lvl 50 (or perhaps unlock new auras/ capes instead)
- Invention Recipe
- Veteran reward
- I sure as hell would pay $9.99 for an additional costume slot, but I would be more comfortable if the all of my characters gained an extra slot.
Even 1 more slot would rule. -
Damn, I never even knew that. Well it'd be cool to rate one's leadership abilities. I dunno.
-
This whole thing would also be one way to put PLing teams out of your mind! I sure as hell hate asking literally 18 lvl 50s in a row to get a team and not get any responses.
-
Yeah a rating system would be awesome! As the people leave the team, a rate box will come up and it'd rate the leader. That'd be pretty awesome if everyone has a team rating. Nice!
-
I had an epiphany in the car today and I knew I had to write it in the forum as soon as I got home.
As of now, we can search for players by their origin, archetype, level, zone, etc. That all is great especially being able to tell if that people is in a group or not by the color of their name. I think I found a way to extremely jump the chances a group will be filled. Picture in the search box that there is an option to search for groups already formed. Sure, that's not revolutionary.
The team leader can set what archetype/ lvl character he feels will benefit his team the best. There would be 7 slots. Each slot would have drop downs for archetype, level, etc. Still not revolutionary yet
If the leader needs a lvl 25 28 tanker, and there happens to be a lvl 27 tanker who wants a group, that tanker just has to search for lvl 25 35 groups, and see that a team needs at lvl 25 28 tanker. All he has to click is the join button and he is automatically invited into the group. Or if the leader just welcomes all between lvl 25 and 28, no matter the archetype, he can do just that. Of course there has to be control to this whole thing:
- Ignore/ spam blocking: Block someones global address from being able to join your group.
- Confirmation: You can set the option for the leader to get a confirmation of yes or no whether or not you want that person to join.
- You should be dropped from the team search once all your player goals are met. However, if you lose a tanker, and want a new one, you should be automatically submitted as long as you have the option on.
I am confident that this will boost group forming tremendously! Not only would this save me time when I have an hour to play, but it will start the game play quicker!
Here are some more side notes:
- Each team should have a title e.g.: Statesman Task Force! or "Respec 2!"in the search and a drop down subtitle for what kind of team it is: e.g. strike force, task force, trial, story arcs, regular missions, MA, anything.
- Anyone should be able to view how many people are in your group and who is in your group. Sometimes I want to join a full team, sometimes Id like to join a team of 3. However, not everyone would want their team members to be seen. So there would be an anonymous team filter.
- A filter for SG member only
- A filter for friends only
Please tell me what you think! -

I can agree with your last statement.
I want PL control. I want exp to stay in MAs. Someone gaining more exp/ influence/ salvage than I is a matter of who has more time than who. That's part of playing the game, and I extremely recommend anyone to get as much of that stuff as they want.

Exploit control and pl control mechanisms ARE. IN. THERE.
Find a farm, report it. EVENTUALLY customer service will review it, and if THEY (not any freaking keyboard warriors on these fourms) feel it's a farm, it will be nuked from orbit.
That's what most folks don't get. It's the devs, CS and NSCOFT management that determine what is and isn't acceptable. Period.
If anyone doesn't like that they can unsubscribe. Nothing wrong with not subbing to a game who's policies you don't like
[/ QUOTE ]
lol, well that's good to know. I'll most likely use that tool.
Edit: I WILL use that tool. -
Seeing your point of views, it isn't realistic to see a big control or SK cap or anything to control PLing (to fix this MA question). As I said before, I think it'd be great to have dedicated to servers for people who would rather not PL. Like on Everquest, there are specific servers for people who want to Role Play and from what I hear, they're on WoW too. So it wouldn't hurt to have a couple servers dedicated to basically the same thing on CoH.

What important issue would that be?
Someone worried about the xp/inf someone else is getting in MA? The feature designed to give xp/inf from 1-50 as advertised?
That is not an important issue it is a personal problem that some need to get over.
Xp/inf in AE is not going anywhere and anyone asking for that needs to just turn off their xp/inf and S T F U about everyone else's.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wow, way to generalize it to support your side of the debate. Please read my posts before you thrash out. Before you know it, you'll see that I've agreed with you in my previous post and my issue is different than the one you thought I was disagreeing with. -

I am referring too another thread like this repeating the same ideas already shown to be no good over a month ago.
What are you referring too?

Another person saying they see another thread about an important issue bothering a great number of people. -
I was not saying that I am being forced to power level. Satyrically, I was using poopy's point of view against him stating that he's contradicting himself and its a worthless point that seems to have just been put in there for the sake of arguement.
If you read my whole post, I do get teams. I am a member of an SG and I do group with them. I also like grouping with new people too. That's whats been lacking. Gradually, many people in my SG have only been PLing, rarely get on anymore or have quit. Now this is where you say "find a new SG". Why should I have to in the first place? -
I believe the exp output is based on the leader's difficulty. I don't quite remember since I haven't been in there in quite some time.

They got suck in the AE loop and found the game boring, and redundant.
[/ QUOTE ] Right.......and the non-AE portions of the game aren't "boring and redundant." I guess repeating ITFs *or insert any other TF basically* over and over again doesn't constitute redundancy. [ QUOTE ]
I personally would like to get rid of or limit PLing all together.[/quote
] PLing serves a very useful purpose to people who choose to. Trying to restrict another paying customer's ability to enjoy the game is not a good idea. [ QUOTE ]
Also, it'd be great to have servers specifically for people who want to gut the game, read the back stories, do all or any story arc, and basically play the game for what it was intended for.
[/ QUOTE ]
I guess we have different views on "what it was intended for." IMO, I would think it is to provide enjoyment to the customers, since well...they're paying. The game elements that produce enjoyment in players changes over time. It's not static, but rather fluid. *IF* the majority of players feel that "read the back stories" no longer provides enjoyment, then that particular game element ceases to be what the game is intended for.

According to the way you're putting it, poopy, if we control PLing, it will be forcing players to do what I want them to do. However, if we dont do anything about PLing, people like myself, will be forced to play how you want to play. So in the end, its an exchange of one evil for another. PLing has limited my game play a hell of a lot and I'm a paying customer too. Do I or people with my point of view not apply?
Of course I've stayed on for hours and created my own 8 man team, but its turning more into a chore than a fun challenge. To me, having an authentic group of 8 people is true power leveling I like to call grinding. However, there is a big difference between grinding and power leveling. Grinding is both productive in the story as well as gaining massive exp and influence. It is a hell of a lot funner than 6 people sitting at the zone line while some controller (who doesnt even have a cape) goes out and kills everything. No matter what you say, that is not playing a game. If normal CoH content is boring for people, then CoH is NOT the game for them.
IMO MA is one of the coolest ideas ever and I have so many missions I want to make. So I'd like it to stick around. The problem is that no one has played any of my MAs nor any of my close friends who have created detailed MAs. Technically MA is real content and theres nothing wrong with busting through them without playing a trial or task force. Playing a one mission MA with all bosses and all the players at the zone is what I have a problem with. I simply want the act of PLing to change that can benefit us all. -
Getting rid of exp in MA is not the answer. I personally would like to get rid of or limit PLing all together. One way is to limit SKs to a 10 lvl difference or lower the % of exp income every 10 level difference.
Also, it'd be great to have servers specifically for people who want to gut the game, read the back stories, do all or any story arc, and basically play the game for what it was intended for. Perhaps on these servers if there is excessive PLing, they can be voted off the server. I would transfer all the character from my server to that one in a heartbeat, but I'd like to only pay a small one time fee rather than $9.99 for every character! I have a lot!
I don't know about you all, but I'm getting sick of hearing lvl 45s saying "How the heck did you get that cape?!".
