New Team Search

I had an epiphany in the car today and I knew I had to write it in the forum as soon as I got home.

As of now, we can search for players by their origin, archetype, level, zone, etc. That all is great especially being able to tell if that people is in a group or not by the color of their name. I think I found a way to extremely jump the chances a group will be filled. Picture in the search box that there is an option to search for groups already formed. Sure, that's not revolutionary.

The team leader can set what archetype/ lvl character he feels will benefit his team the best. There would be 7 slots. Each slot would have drop downs for archetype, level, etc. Still not revolutionary yet…

If the leader needs a lvl 25 – 28 tanker, and there happens to be a lvl 27 tanker who wants a group, that tanker just has to search for lvl 25 – 35 groups, and see that a team needs at lvl 25 – 28 tanker. All he has to click is the “join” button and he is automatically invited into the group. Or if the leader just welcomes all between lvl 25 and 28, no matter the archetype, he can do just that. Of course there has to be control to this whole thing:

- Ignore/ spam blocking: Block someone’s global address from being able to join your group.
- Confirmation: You can set the option for the leader to get a confirmation of “yes or no” whether or not you want that person to join.
- You should be dropped from the team search once all your player goals are met. However, if you lose a tanker, and want a new one, you should be automatically submitted as long as you have the option on.

I am confident that this will boost group forming tremendously! Not only would this save me time when I have an hour to play, but it will start the game play quicker!

Here are some more side notes:
- Each team should have a title “e.g.: Statesman Task Force!” or "Respec 2!"in the search and a drop down subtitle for what kind of team it is: e.g. strike force, task force, trial, story arcs, regular missions, MA, anything.
- Anyone should be able to view how many people are in your group and who is in your group. Sometimes I want to join a full team, sometimes I’d like to join a team of 3. However, not everyone would want their team members to be seen. So there would be an anonymous team filter.
- A filter for SG member only
- A filter for friends only

Please tell me what you think!

I'd be happy if they showed the stars ratings in the search window. That would be more helpful than my ignore list as that thing gets flushed all the time. Besides, since I always send tells before invites, I won't ever get a reply tell from someone I have on ignore to join a team.

Honestly, I have only ended up on a team with someone that I had 1 starred once. I warned the leader about the problem that I had had with that player. They warned the player about the issue not long into the mission when they repeated the behavior I had made notes on. I'm pretty sure that the one-starred player ended up leaving the team not long afterward for one reason or another (may have been kicked).

But I would still like to be able to see the star ratings that I have given players when I'm trying to recruit for a team.

Yeah a rating system would be awesome! As the people leave the team, a rate box will come up and it'd rate the leader. That'd be pretty awesome if everyone has a team rating. Nice!

This whole thing would also be one way to put PLing teams out of your mind! I sure as hell hate asking literally 18 lvl 50s in a row to get a team and not get any responses.

uh, there is a rating system. You can click on a name and it says "Add Note". At the top you can select how many stars to give them and make notes.
There is an option in the options menu to display these stars over the heads of characters that you have rated.

I rate all farmer with 1 star. I also put them on ignore.

Damn, I never even knew that. Well it'd be cool to rate one's leadership abilities. I dunno.

I think this sounds like a great idea, personally. The idea of a better-filtered search tool, let alone one that lets you be active, and JOIN a fitting rather than just sit and wait for one to find you.

Honestly, I can't see any reason why something like this couldn't be implemented, there's lots of potential for it. I think anyone who's spent any time LFT could agree lol.

Along with the star ratings, there is a box where you can make notes. If you want to note a player's leadership, you can do so in the notes.

Hm..yea I didn't know you could rate people, but I knew about adding notes. It'd be cool if other people could see the note, but then of course....everyone would have a ton of notes and I'm sure that would get out of control. But whatever. :P

All that aside, I still think the idea of a more advanced and thorough search tool would be pretty useful. The idea of being able to join a group that has their status marked as "open", so that anyone can join, that's cool. If you don't want others to join, make it a private group. Simple and effective, with good potential.
