Quote:Ninja Run is currently 500 Paragon Points or $6.25 USD.Yeah, thinking the big announcement at pax is going to be "hey, we're launching in a couple days". Guess I wont be getting my brother going rogue for his account now. Tho I may have to quickly consider getting him the martial arts pack that he wants. Anyone know how much ninja run equals to in cash on the new market? If it's 5 dollars or more i'll prolly just get him the pack so he gets all the cool costume pieces with it.

Quote:Video response from Weird Al Yankovic.Morning everyone!
Taking a break from PAX planning and getting ready for Issue 21 to share this little bit of awesome I came across this morning.
Hope it brightens your day!
(No, it's not a Rick Roll.)
(Yes, this is a joke.) -
Quote:Thank you for the warning. However the prices currently on Beta make it abundantly clear that Paragon Studios intends to raise prices by up to 3.5x the current rate. With the launch of City of Heroes Freedom™ drawing nearer, and all the new and exciting things coming your way in Issue 21, we also have to say goodbye to some of the products you have come to love over the years.
As a result, we will be discontinuing the sale of all Booster Packs, Expansions and Boxed sets in the NCsoft store on August 30, 2011. The good news is that players who wish to take advantage of the current pricing are still able to do so before these items are officially discontinued.
I doubt I'll use the new store, even with the monthly stipend, because the prices are too high in most cases.
Edit:
Comparison with Paragon Market.

Quote:Send him funds through Paypal? Here's what might count as an odd question:
Can I purchase this in the NCsoft store, write down the code, and give that code to a friend for him to apply to HIS (now lapsed) trial account, without having to do any shady "account information sharing"?
I'd really like to buy this as a gift, but don't have a convenient way to give him 2 dollars and tell him "Spend this on COH :P" because he's half-across the continent from me. -
Quote:To my knowledge Triumph hasn't been able to get "Avoids the Green Stuff" or "Loves a Challenge".Freedom does it pretty regularly. With the new stuff incoming, better do it quick. The underground trial is a whole new set of badges that most will be gunning for.
As far as I know, I'm the only one willing to even organize Keyes Badge runs. We are two months after Keyes was introduced to the live servers. How much longer do the developers need to be shown that something needs to be changed?
And the attitude of "better be quick or you'll never get X badges" is completely repugnant. -
Quote:The Explore, History, Defeat, and Accomplishment badges I have no issues with or comments about. Now that Issue 21 is in Open Beta, what are everyones thoughts on the new badges?
Regenerate This - Will be difficult, but with a coordinated team it should be good.Quote:Achievement Badges
Regenerate This - Defeat the Self-Repairing and Lichen Infested War Walkers within 8 minutes of starting the fight.
Tour Guide - Don't let Desdemona's health go below 50% during the Underground Incarnate Trial.
Preservation Specialist - Don't let any of the IDF bombs detonate in the Underground Incarnate Trial.
Avatar Assassin - Defeat the Avatar of Hamidon at the same time as an IDF bomb in the Underground Incarnate Trial.
(Master of Underground Trial) - Earn all four badges for the Underground Incarnate Trial.
Tour Guide - If they've fixed the last encounter since I've played it in March, it should be possible to do on a PUG with difficulty.
Preservation Specialist - I will loathe PUGs for this badge.
Avatar Assassin - Yeah, right. I think whoever is designing badges for the Incarnate Trials should be fired.
Well, for part of each year, I'll be caught up with players that have subscribed longer than I have.Quote:Veteran Badges
1 Year Veteran - Have a subscription for 12 months.
2 Year Veteran - Have a subscription for 24 months.
3 Year Veteran - Have a subscription for 36 months.
4 Year Veteran - Have a subscription for 48 months.
5 Year Veteran - Have a subscription for 60 months.
6 Year Veteran - Have a subscription for 72 months.
7 Year Veteran - Have a subscription for 84 months.
8 Year Veteran - Have a subscription for 96 months.
The game needed more day jobs like it needs less subscribers. In other words, it didn't need any more day jobs. -
Quote:Sadly it was in the closed beta sections (both Issue 18 closed beta and Issue 20 pre-beta) and comments in the closed beta "play with the developer" sessions.Got a quote?
I don't doubt you, mind, just wondering - since base raiding is nonexistant - if they mentioned the reasoning. (Besides having SOME reason to get the oracle/mission computer. That thing needs love.)
The reasoning, if I remember correctly, was that it was a super group event not a league trial. The CoP was always designed for super groups, it was to be a selling point as to why you needed to have a base for your group. It is, as you guessed, there to provide groups with a reason to get raid teleporters and oracle/mission computers.
I'm talking about being told "no" repeatedly over the course of about 9 months. I have the distinct impression that if you want the CoP Trial added to the LFG Queue, you'll have to inspire the developers to make something else for the raid teleporters and oracle/mission computers. If you can't come up with a compelling use for those (besides base raiding), then you aren't going to get anywhere with asking for the CoP to be removed from bases.Quote:just because someone says no once doesn't mean your not allowed to keep asking.
I think this will always be the sticking point for the request to remove the CoP from bases.Quote:However, doing that would minimize the necessity and glamour of bases. I think the base building community is still waiting anxiously waiting for base raids to return and I don't they want something else taken away from them. There needs to be some practical use for bases other than storage and zone teleporters, especially with all the QoL changes we've gotten recently; such as in-game e-mail for example. -
They have also promised to rotate the Celestial Armor back IN. They will not be permanently unavailable.

Quote:Wow, putting me in with Arcanaville? Thanks for the compliment! My supergroup (the All Stars) influenced me heavily. They Helped my love of roleplaying grow to this date. Here on the forums I have been influenced by a plethora of the regulars; Arcanaville, Snow Globe, Golden Girl, Bass Ackwards, etc. Thank you one and all for the friendship and knowledge to date and into the future.
One of the players that influenced me in the game was some person (forget who) who camped on top of a Paladin Construction site. This prompted me to learn all I could about badges.
Later, of course, my first player attack of the construction site was such a lag-fest, but immensely fun as well. I found myself thinking, "wow, this is a city filled with superheroes fighting great odds." This set my personal benchmark for everything since. That random group of heroes battling the clockwork definitely influenced me in this game. -
And we've been told that will not happen. It took Castle 3 years to get the CoP changes, and the developers have said it will continue to start in bases.

Shameless plug: Guide: Premium Accounts and Paragon Rewards.
Quote:VIP = active subscription. Say Freedom launches in September. If you pay for your subscription in September, October, and December, but not in November your account will be a VIP in September, October, and December. During November, your account will be a Premium account with all the applicable restrictions.I've been playing CoX for quiet some years on three different account. My own account is only three years atm, I read (quoted) "Current City of Heroes subscribers will continue as a VIP player" Does this mean your account has to be active when Freedom goes live to become a VIP? Or even if your account is down at the time but when you are able to buy time and come back that account will become VIP or a normal account?
See the guide I linked to above for what permissions are given to what level of existing accounts.Quote:Cause I'm unable to buy monthly time atm due to money issues, and I'm unsure when i'll be able to reactive my account again. I'd hate to not be able to be a VIP player even tho I've been playing for the amount of time I have been. I'm sure my father wouldn't like being an 8 year vet or so and not being able to be a VIP account because he can't pay for his account either. -
Quote:Samuel, please read the first post in this thread:I mean Paragon Reward tokens, yes. Apologies for the mistaken terminology. What are those given for and what must one have to ensure he receives them?

Quote:No, that wont work. The buddy code is effectively the same code as the $2 sale.Another possibility: the $2 sale going on now *might* work to bump his account to one additional month of subscription if he is not currently subscribed. However, I only know it works to create new accounts and upgrade trial accounts. I do not know if it will reactivate a canceled account. If it does work, you could add it to his account *now* and when Freedom rolls around he should have three months and one vet badge, and therefore one reward token which would also bring him to tier 2.

Quote:The change allowing EB versions to count was made at the same time the EB versions were made. The game, according to Positron, can't tell the difference between a AV and EB versions of critters. Just like it can't tell the difference between the War Wolves by rank. The change allowing EB versions to count was made many, many moons ago.

For instance if they made a minion ranked version of Anti-Matter, that would count for the badge. -
Buy uncommon recipes and put them on the Auction House. Or convert them to threads for components.

Quote:The names on the "Trial 59602" (and the like) were more than likely RMTs with names no sane person would want to use anyway. If only names on accounts dubbed "Trial 59602" were going to be freed up...
I completely understand why that can't be done, returning players and all that. I just tire of coming up with a name, seeing it is taken, and finding out (through /getglobalname) that the account that's holding it is a generic trial. Oh well. -

What, if anything, does this mean for the "invite a friend back" program?
