No, Dwayne Turner is an actual Marvel artist. But he might as well have graduated from the Liefeld academy of antanatomy.

    Let's see:

He can't draw fingers since they disappear on one hand and are hidden on another.

The muscles on the left arm are not quite right, but look downright ordinary compared to the bicep on the right arm which looks like it's about four feet closer to the viewer than the rest of the arm, and the forearm becomes a slabby mess.

The X decal has no depth. It looks like a sticker placed on top of the drawing.

The right shoulder strap of the bathing top fades into nothingness.

There is inexplicable shadowing when there should be light hitting an object, namely, the crotch.

There is a remarkable volume of hair coming out of the back of the neck. Speaking of which, his hair is either heavily gelled or he has the power of Medusa since his hair refuses to blow in the direction of the wind that his head band is going.

  4. Bane Lieutenants have increased perception.

    As a remedy...

SuperSpeed, if not because of the Stealth, but because of the reduced Threat and getting in and out of their perception range before they can even act helps.

    Teleport - bypassed!

Phase powers - You can see me, but can't do anything about it. I keep Ethereal Shift crafted on my squishies to run past the drones in the LGTF.

I like how the Veteran Reward System was reworked so that new players wouldn't despair of being forever 7 years behind and, at the same time, you found ways to reward long-time players.

I like how you still cater to subs with VIP rewards.

I like how you still invest heavily in development and are very communicative with the players in most ways.

    However...

I had doubts that you could actually produce something *new* every single week of the year, and my doubts are being confirmed with repackaged goods defined as *new* and other assets seemingly rushed. Putting aside the gender issue of Gunslinger, have you seen the reports of bugs from that set? Way too much for a item for sale for real money. You need to back off of "something new every week" in favor of quality.

I don't like how the microtransactions have almost no microtransactions. So many price points are $5 and up. I don't like the resistance to regular sales and deep sales. I don't see the retail savvy that you should be having in your Store. You're guarding price points like they were subscription costs and not consumable goods. You do know that if people buy enough one-offs, that they're more likely to subscribe and stay subscribed, right? So, why make them so dear?

I don't like how some of the microtransactions are geared to VIPs. You have our subscription money. You produced more stuff for sale than our stipend can buy. And then, on top of that, you look to sell 'hard core' items like ATOs and a costume set through Super Packs. I'm glad you're backing down on the exclusivity of those things in the Packs, and that the price point isn't that bad. But initially, it looked like you weren't looking to monetize the Freemiums, but the VIPs. The VIPs are already monetized. Look toward stuff Freebies would buy, in large quantities, cheaply.

I don't like the haphazard way IOs are being sold in the Store. This mainly has to do with the availability of IOs restricted by some very arbitrary ranges. It's still unconscionable for you to sell Attuned IOs that are in the 10-20 Level range. Anyone who knows anything about the game views them as useless, even if Attuned. So, it's OK with you to gouge clueless newbies with those sales? With Attuned IOs in mind, the Powers Team needs to address level ranges and make previously worthless IO Set worthwhile to use Attuned or Not. Then it would be a good deal to buy them as slot-and-forget Attuned IOs. I know I'd pay good money for that.

I don't like how the Celestial Set was broken down into three Tokens. I would have been royally ticked if I didn't have the 3 Tokens to spend and could only get 1/3 of the Set per month.

  7. It will save tons of time for questions about "How come I can't access X?"

"Because that's a VIP-only." or... "Have you purchased the license?"

Its an unnecessary slam, when its not relevant to whether the devs genuinely delivered on their gunslinger pack to both (character) genders.
Oh, it's just a waitress costume and nothing more. Here's the updated version:

    Go, go, City of HEROES!!!!
  10. Zombie Man

    Comic Relief

While a set isn't the goal, there can be a case made for a Home Improvised Set:

Towel cape (we've been asking for this for 5 years)
    curtains cape
    metal colander helmet
    stove top pot helmet
barber basin helmet (a la Don Qixote)
rag-tied cowl (a la El Zorro)
farm and household instrument weapons: pitchfork, scythe, pipe, broom, rolling pin (already have shovel, axe, pick, bat, wrench, sledgehammer)
duct taped armor (pillow padding or scrap metal)
    hockey goalie gloves
    hockey goalie facemask
    football helmet
    wrestler's ear guards
    garbage can lid shield

Players can go in and edit the costume files? I mean, sure, it takes work, I don't doubt but... we have the technology for just ANYBODY to tinker with what the costume pieces look like and such?
The mods only appear on your computer. They are like the Vidiotmaps map overlays.

Why aren't the devs letting us DO that? I mean, maybe just accept submissions, and even if they want to sell them, still. I mean IMVU and Second Life are nothing BUT letting players make costumes and such, and they've got a bajillion options. If the tools exist for people to make costume pieces and files on their own, why are the devs not taking advantage of this?
You're basically recoloring an existing piece. Theoretically, the devs could accept player mods and incorporate them as choices for all people in the tailor's, but, more textures means more memory... hard drive and RAM/pagefile while playing the game.

Besides, new pieces are a lot more sophisticated with two or more layers of bumpmapping and design... not the simple flat pieces that was like coloring with crayons that the original costumes had.

Also, the modifications above are forcing geometry pieces on the wrong model. I'm sure if you used the scaling sliders, you'd fine very obvious clipping issues... so, porting from one model to another really isn't that easy.

  14. I was not impressed with Zwillinger defending "their artistic vision" on Ustream today. It's defending pre-tinting, and thus, defending the end of mix-and-match... which is an obscenely BAD IDEA.

This kind of sounds snarky to me. So the plan is to do away with female specific pieces altogether?
No, this means that instead of a male astronaut suit and a female space corset, they'll create a male and female astronaut suit. In their minds, that is "less uniqueness."

The snark, however, is all mine!

Not going to happen. Devs said that too many animated pieces (from many characters in the same area) take a toll of FPS. So, the stated policy is that a character can only have one animated costume piece at a time.

Well, there are different issues here:

    1. Color-locked sections: Selecting the secondary or primary color has no effect.

    2. Pre-tinted sections: section already has a color or grey-scale tone applied to it which mixes with the primary or secondary color chosen.

    3. Mixed-tinting: Section is a combination of the secondary and primary colors, which also may add in a third pre-tinted hue or grey-scale tone.

For those who don't know, the player has only 2 chosable colors (which is a hard limit of the current game engine).

One solution to the 2-color-only-problem is to leave out a third expected element. This is what happened with the Witch's Hat from the Croatoa TF... it left out the hair so that you could have a 2 tone hat. I can't speak for all players, but I think the majority would have wanted hair attached to the hat that was fully tintable and could have lived with one of the sections of the 2 tone hat locked to black.

The new Pilgrim Hat has 4 sections: the hat and band which pick up the 2 chosable colors, the buckle which is locked to silver, and the hair which is a pre-tinted grey scale that picks up both the primary and secondary colors! Now, that's pretty.... odd. (Yes, blue hat + red band = purple hair.)

Again, not wanting to speak for everyone, but my preference would be for the band and buckle to be color locked to black and silver and for the hat and hair to be tintable. Or, for the band to be a blend of the two colors, and not the hair.

But here's a mechanical question: Can you make an overlay for these pieces like there is for tights or armor tops? An overlay can lay down a pattern for coloration. One overlay can target the hair and hat so only those parts are colorable. Another overlay can target the hair and hat so only those parts are colorable. Just a hopeful idea...

That's the problem with color locked sections. The problem with pre-tinting is laid out in this thread: The Problems with pre-tinting costume pieces

The main problems with pre-tinting are:
    1. Ugly colors from the blending of some chosable colors and the pre-tint;
    2. Unable to match pieces from different sets, and;
    3. Unable to match pieces even from within the same set! (see the link above wrt Celestial).

  21. I bring my MM regularly on all the iTrials and do quite well. And that's even before there were several buffs to pets on iTrials.

Then, again, I can adjust my playstyle. I can see how those who can't cry "unfair to MMs".

Lambda is a bit difficult if one doesn't know how to play a MM with constantly resummoning your henches. But that's a tactic all MMs players should learn how to master. Can't stand playing with MMs who think their pets are not expendable.
