Unable to take screenshots of Costume GUI
Try flipping to windowed mode and using print screen then pasting that into paint.
It's a little like reinventing the wheel but it should work.
Well, that does work, but it's a bit clunky...Any better solutions? And thanks anyway
If you have the right version (edit: see you have Windows 7 so you do have the right version) of windows use the Snipping Tool (Start > All Programs > Accessories > Snipping Tool)
You just snip out what you want from the screen.
I have Photoshop at the ready, so that won't be the problem Rather, I find myself unable to screenshot the mentioned parts once CoH is full-screen - something I find rather odd :-/

Yeah I have that same problem (also windows 7), you either need to hit the widows key to revert back to windows while COH is still showing and then print screen or use the snipping tool.

Unfortunatly, it doesn't answer my question... |
Let's take a look at your question.
Before, I was able to take screenshots of the costume GUI, either while making or selecting characters or when making new ones.
Now I've got Windows 7, I seem unable to do that - screenshots I take are completely black. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and does anyone have a solution? |
Vista Clipboard Alternative: Snipping Tool Some Vista users have reported that they cannot get their Clipboard to work correctly from a City of Heroes screen. They often wind up with a blank screen that gets pasted into the destination program. The solution is a program that comes standard with Vista called Snipping Tool which can be found under the Accessories sub-menu of the Start button's list of Programs. The Snipping Tool actually gives better control of screenshots because it has features such as highlighting just one area of the screen to take a snapshot of. |
Perhaps ZM or one of the other nice folks that puts in the effort to edit the wiki will be nice enough to edit this entry to change it from saying "Vista" to "Vista or 7".
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

I've reread the thread and I realize it's not in the first post (but the fifth), but, I'm running CoH full-screen - and the snipping tool doesn't give me non-black screenshot, I'm afraid.
Granted, with running CoH windowed, it's somesort of a solution, but I'm trying to capture it full-screen
I run the game full-screen and use the Snipping Tool.
No problems at all with it.

Strange. Any ideas where the cause may lie?
The only way I know to do it is to hit the window key (as if to alt-tab out to another program) and then hit print screen while CoH is on-screen but not the active program. Then copy/paste into Photoshop or Irfanview or whatever.
my lil RWZ Challenge vid
That actually seems to work quite well
