Quote:I'm truly curious: Was there any one of these missions from one of these Original contacts that you particularly miss? Can you even remember one of them? I can't.I always respect your posts on this forum, Zomb, so I want to reply to the contrary without intending any snarkiness. It's just that the choice I am talking about losing is the one made during character creation, when you select an origin and therefore a unique origin-based set of missions. Even if not an official arc, it was a few missions that were not the same as the ones I had run with the last character (unless I chose the same origin accidentally).
-
First, let's restore the memory:
- While there were 5 origin contacts, you could only talk to and get missions from one of them. So, you are not "missing 5 contacts", you are now only missing one of them, since you could only ever talk to one of them.
- Your origin contact did not have an arc. They had mostly FedEx missions, a street sweep, and at most 3 instances where you killed a few Hellions, Vahz, or Clockwork. After 3-7 disparate missions, they were done and you still might not have reached level 5 for your next set of contacts.
- That's right, when they were done with you, there were no other contacts in the 1-5 range. This means in the new current system, you are only missing that one origin contact who only had less than a handful of one-off missions for you. Everything else that was there before in the 5+ range is still there now.
- Yes, the link to your origin contacts in the 5-10 range is now broken. You have to do the 3 radios and Safeguard in Kings Row to pick up that contact and then everything will be as it was before starting at level 5.
- BTW, Level 5-10 contacts have no arcs! They have always been one-offs. So, if you're chasing down your "Origin Story," then keep in mind there are no cohesive arcs for your Origin until level 10 in Steel Canyon, and even then, only Tech, Natural, and Science get an arc.
- So the hyperbole here of THEY TOOK AWAY MAH FREEDUM!!! is this: one contact was removed and you have to do a safeguard to get the introduction that one contact used to give. In its place, they added a trial, and three beginners' arcs (you get to do two), as well as three Tutorial arcs. Freedom absconded indeed!
See here.
Quote:And when you're done with the new arcs, you've driven out all the Longbow from Fort Darwin, it's now permanently occupied by Arachnos (thanks to phasing tech), you're considered an up and coming Badass by Arachnos rather than some lackey, and you didn't have to do a dozen repetitive snake missions.Original poster, you oughtta be a villain. Its horrible.
Fort Darwin belongs to Longbow now. Fortunata Kalinda and Arbiter Diaz are both gone from their plinths. Perhaps they are still somewheres in the zone.... I don't have the heart to search.
Fort Darwin belonging to Longbow is like Al Quaeda taking over the White House: its just wrong on so many levels. I almost wanted to stage an Occupy Fort Darwin.
So... how is that worse? -
I view most contact/arcs as solo play for those who enjoy a story. And some of the Legacy Arcs... well, the story is lost in really bad design of street sweeps, fedex, and repetitive missions, which, though maybe necessary in their day, not so much anymore.
Most of the stories of the legacy arcs, which were told in 12 missions can be done today in 3-4 missions.
But once you've gone through the story once or twice or ten times... no need to anymore. Stick to powerleveling trials and TFs. -

It doesn't need nerfing, it just needs a PvP flag... it has none.

Yes, it has, going back to the original announcement at the 'Pummit.' Since the player uproar, some things changed.
-
- -90% SpeedRunning for 0.5s
- -50000% JumpHeight for 0.45s [Ignores Enhancements & Buffs] [Non-resistable]
- -3.5 Max SpeedRunning for 0.45s
- -10 Fly for 0.45s [Non-resistable]
- -30% Res(All Types) for 0.45s
There's more than just the Mez.
Maybe it stacks because it's really from a pseudopet and the two pseudopets count as two different casters. And the "doesn't stack" flag is to keep each individual pseudopet from stacking it's own effects that pulse.
Casting Tar Patch does indeed stack because casting one psuedopet doesn't cause the other to despawn. Then the two (or three!) gang up and cheat the system. -
Noble Savage has said that both genders will get all the main parts, specifically the helmet and spacesuit, with only a few incidental gender based add-ons.

Quote:You're quoting to what was revealed and what was changed *after* we complained. The original complaint and original maths involved was valid which is what RavenSoul was mocking as hysterical ado about nothing. Are yours?
The "Coupon Collector's Problem" only applies when you can potentially collect the same piece twice, and further, that every piece is desired precisely once.
Neither of those things are true of the super packs.
a) Costume pieces can never be repeated, if you get one, you will never get it again.
b) Other items in the packs may be desired more than once, or not at all.
Since the original announcement and changes have been made, most of us have withdrawn our fierce opposition to it.
Reading comprehension is as important as math skills. -
Try getting it nice and big and see if you can fix it:
/windowscale chat 1.6
(expands it to 160% size) -

Quote:Yeah the same... it's probably /ignoreasspammer. I use the right click myself. Is that different to the Click the name, select Ignore As Spammer?
The reason I ask is because (as I said in my post) my full global ignore list is made up entirely through that function and it doesn't look like they are vanishing.
Using it silences them for you. But it takes several more players to use it to get the auto-ban to happen. -

Quote:Yeah, one. Is condescension inversely proportional to math skills?A: The random factor combined with the 'costume exclusivity' means that people will have to pay a dollar at a chance to get the costume parts they want, because they can't do so elsewhere. First off, I'd like to propose that this is BS because many people blew some serious change on getting the Celestial Set and didn't wail and moan like they have here.
So that's one part of the hypocrisy, the other is that we have had exclusive costume pieces that we had to pay money for before: The Super Boosters. Again, this is hypocrisy to complain about here and now, as we've been doing this for years. There's another part to this but I'll focaus on it in...
So, any questions?
Coupon Collector's Problem
If the Super Packs were the only source of the costume set, and,
If the Costume Pieces were not tradable, and,
If, for the sake of argument, let's say there were 20 pieces in the set,
And, if each pack were about a dollar (US),
Then... It would take at least about $75 to get the set.
That's gouging.
And that's not even taking into account you might not have a costume piece in a pack at all.
The Celestial Set cost 3 Tokens representing only $45, but, you get either 3 months sub time or 3,600 Points to spend elsewhere with that which is what $45 is worth in sub time or Points making the Celestial Set de facto free... it's a free reward for subbing or buying points. Let me repeat that. The Celestial Sets were FREE. They're a reward, not something you buy on top of other purchases.
Other actually purchasable costume sets have been $10 or less.
Now, with ATOs, you'd be trying to get sets of 6 out of 48 possibles, leading to spending over $100 just for your 3 main alts. Which is still pretty gougey.
Do you have any questions? -
If everyone who saw them in WW used the /reportaspammer option, they'd be auto-squelched.
So the Devs did do something... they gave players the ability to silence them. -
