There've been a couple different posts on it by now. I think they just got eaten in a glut of others.
But ya, kind of annoying. -
Quote:And they also hinted that killing Emperor Cole might not be the end of the Praetorian story, which makes sense since Praetorian Hamidon is still out there just waiting to cave in the sonic walls and crush the last vestige of humanity on Praetoria. They also said they weren't able to talk about any content featuring the Praetorian Hamidon.
Kinda curious if we'll ever see other parts of Praetorian earth, like the bits the Devouring Earth have 'reclaimed'. -
If I am a winner, I permit NC Interactive, Inc. and NCsoft Europe Limited to use my name, likeness, photograph, hometown, and any comments that I may make about myself or this contest that I provide for advertising and promotional activities. I also certify that I am at least 13 years of age and am eligible to participate in this contest.
The crowd was silent as War Witch began to announce who won tonight's Dancing With the Supers.

Quote:They also said Adamastor will not be in New Dark Astoria, but will be relocating to the BP areas of Talos and Sharkhead.By the way, on the UStream today, they heavily hinted that we'd find out who the Mysterious Letter Writer is during the new DA content.
So good chances for a new incarnate level BP GM. -
Well as it is set up now, Loyalists only go to 20, period.
Then again, Resistance sort of ends at 20 too because you can't call First Ward a Resistance story either. First Ward is an extension of the Praetorian storyline but it really sums up and caps off as "both sides are pretty evil and managed by jerks". -
I dunno didn't the devs say it took some effort to rewrite things to work the character out of the game? I know I keep revisiting this point but it really does provide a fairly solid bit of evidence. BAB has no Task force and no significant missions, just a few villainside. Taking him out of the gameworld just means one less extra trainer, whereas most of the other signature heroes take considerably more effort to off.
-
He actually has one. 'Miner Strike in Sharkhead' means 'Scrapyard has spawned'. And it goes off about once every twenty minutes or so.
And no, we weren't close to any of the insta-death rones. We *were* near the ferry and the black market but we pulled him away from them into that big empty lot.
We were just all dog piling him and then poof, he wasn't there anymore. -
Ok, not just me then. If that's working as intended then that's crap. So basically, you really want to have a team prepared before he even spawns to make sure you have as much time as possible. That's really really lame, especially since his badge actually unlocks a contact. :P
-
I wouldn't mind a supergroup beacon. Though i don't think first Ward got one, did it?
Still, it'd be handy. -
So, I was on Exalted monday night in the wee hours, happened upon Scrapyard. He despawned before I could get a team together so I just went about, did a couple missions, saw another miner strike and lo and behold he wound up in the same spot, as happens.
So I pulled a team together, got one in an okay amount of time, we started to wail on him aaaaand after knocking him down to about 10% health he DESPAWNS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FIGHT.
To say the least, the team was a bit disgruntled since we'd been maybe a minute away from victory.
Is there really just an absolute timer on his presence? That is extremely disappointing if true ;p -
From what they've said, the big zombie isn't getting a makeover so much as his place in the pecking order is from 'one of the top dogs' to 'a lieutenant'. That is, the implication I got was that the Banished Pantheon will be seeing bigger scarier things added to its ranks to represent its upper echelons.

Mmm, no, something worth more than 2 merits and meant to be taken on by incarnates. As it stands, Adamastor is a dogpile fight like most of the other GMs.
Quote:One potential side effect of the DA content is that it might increase the amount of IXP and salvage required for the next few slots - right now, it seems that Incarnate progress is balanced around the rate we can earn IXP and salvage during the Trials, inclduing the time it takes a league together - but the DA content will massively reduce the "dead" reward time between Trials, so players who play all the Incarnate content will be earning IXP and salvage quite a bit faster than they currently do just by playing the Trials - which could lead to the next few slots having their unlock and enhancement requirements increased.
As for 'more' salvage that depends entirely on what the devs end up deciding to do. They don't *want* a new currency but they also want to avoid Day 1 unlocks with all the hoarded salvage floating around now.
Then again for all we know they might just decide to gate the next slot behind a Remiel style arc for those that've unlocked everything up to that point.
As for 'more' salvage, that depends entirely on -
The rewards will be restricted to VIPs, I doubt entrance to it will be. Like First Ward, Freebies and Preems can enter but can't access any contact mission content.
-
Well I'm expecting a very 'First Ward' style set up with several long mission arcs, and, if First Ward is any indication, completing the Zone story will take a lot of time. Even 3-4 hour chunks at a time First Ward still took me a few days to get through all the way.
So I'm kind of expecting the same for Dark astoria, and I imagine the incarnate Merits and Salvage will be awarded at the conclusion of the finales, like merit rewards are given for lower level content now. Maybe something awarded for an Elite Boss/Archvillain somewhere in there too.
Otherwise you'll be left with street sweeping and the repeatable missions and those only award threads, which are *definitely* the slow path when it comes to crafting components (compare E-merit costs to purely thread constructed components).
Though I am kind of hoping for a zone event or two too, something like the Seed of Hamidon only, you know, not so gimmicky and pointlessly needed a league. A Giant Monster type critter that takes about 5-8 people to take down (on average, maybe fewer, there's obviously always the folks that can solo a GM). -
yeah, you always end up siding against Cole because they write it as, no matter what your character, genocide of Primal Earth and all the horrible efforts that have gone into it are above a choice.
Mostly because the iTrials are all about everyone siding with the resistance and taking down Cole. Which is also kind of screwed up because of all the extremist terrorist activities Primal Earth is basically condoning.
I will say it's *extremely* unnerving talking to Cole when a loyalist character chooses Paragon city. -

if you like the atmosphere of old astoria, go to ouroboros. The fog and ghosts will still be there wandering around.
If the new DA is anything like the quality of First Ward, which is pretty likely, I don't think you guys have anything to complain about except to complain.
Why don't you at least wait until tomorrow when Zwillinger shows off the power point presentations at the coffee talk tomorrow, there should be at least a bit of concept art from the slides to give you a small idea of the change.
And I do like old Astoria, but it's an artifact of a time gone by. The hazard zones need to be reworked because there's nothing to do in them except hit up mission doors, go badging/dayjobbing, and taking down Giant Monsters when there are any in a given zone. Basically, it's a place to visit, not a place to hang around. The revamp will change that. -
Yes I'm sure they would let you exploit the system so easily and screw themselves out of cash. >>
Not a bad sale. Kind of a shame they didn't discount some of the other items, like the new dog.
Also, no Pilgrim hat in time for Thanksgiving? Oh well. Must've been buggy.
Lastly, while I like the reduced prices, I really disagree with the 113 point sales. NOTHING else in the market has a price ending in any other number but 0 or 5, everything should be divisible by 5. Otherwise you're just setting it up to let people spend points and then have very odd numbers of points they'll never be able to spend. Don't do that. Even if it's just the 'equivalent' of a few pennies, it's still making it so we have points we cannot spend. make it 110 or 115 because at least at that price it's possible to get some other combination of purchases so if you spent everything you can 0 out your account. This is a cheap marketing trick -
Quote:Well thanks to the pummit. they know we don't like that now.At least the 'zeus' helmet has a backing and doesn't look like it's been hot-glued to the cheeks.
And please, don't pre-tint them. If I want them to be black black or white white or neon blue, let me do so. I don't want five indistinguishable shades of silver.
cuz the threads all over the forums weren't a big enough hint >> -
Quote:Seems like instead of trying to do negative knockback, they could just create a ring of invisible psuedo pets that all fire a knockback effect toward the center of the circle, pulse it like every second or so so they're always knocked toward the center of the area. While fixing Dimension Shift would be nice, having a crappy power that is easily skipped is not unusual, so it could stay. Some folks have suggested turning it into a black hole-type negative repel attraction power, but I think the Devs have already said that the current engine will not support it. Which means it might be possible but would be a LOT of work to implement. So I could live with moving it to 26 and leaving it.
Though there's probably some other reason that wouldn't work >> -
Quote:I'm hoping for the former. The BP should really have a more varied design at every level. The X-shamans should all look different besides just the name and what powers they bust out. Change all the tiki masks and tiki bosses to be different, keep the 'mask' theme but make each one wildly different, borrow from different mythologies. That sounds like a good mix of rewards for the different activities.
Are you able to tell us if the whole Banished Pantheon group is getting a visual makeover, or are there just going to be new enemy types added to the group for Incarnates to fight?
Though I am kind of expecting more of the DA crew to have their look influenced by Mot. -
It's a grind either way, just the nature of the beast. You're either grinding trials or you're grinding missions and/or street sweeping. But at least now there's a choice about it, instead of being forced to grind only through trials.
Edit: it's also a matter of time that can be committed while grinding. Even the shortest trial still requires time to queue up enough members to run it. With this, say you can only spend an hour a night playing, you can now commit 100% of the time to working toward progress either unlocking slots or collecting threads for components, rather than 30 minutes to pull together a trial and 30 minutes to do the trial. (Though now you can also just commit that 30 minutes of queue time to street sweeping too).
Either way, this makes the grinding more efficient and no longer forced to rely on other players. Even if you fail to pull together a team, you've still ended up further along in your progress than the old system of purely trials.
