How do you know if there isn't a limit of 40x$5 purchases, 14x$15 purchases, 4x$50 purchases, 2x$100 purchases in a month?

Quote:They are supposed to be different. The ones that landed in Bloody Bay were scouts and took on aspects of where they landed (assumed graves buried under the meteorites). They -are- the Coming Storm. I would expect to see more types of Shivans introduced as new issues come out.4) Concerning these Shivans -- since when were the Shivans faceless rock aliens? These are not the Bloody Bay Shivans I was expecting. Please don't tell me they were redesigned to tone down the horror component -- that's the only thing that made these beasts interesting! Besides, what can be worse in the middle of an alien invasion than to find out they aliens are partly comprised of your own dead? Anyone rt-clicking and reading the backstories on these faceless rock aliens -- yes, they have backstories while our signature characters don't -- is going to be confused as the description hardly matches the new look.
Yes, but the tutorial/training process now extends to level 20 with the ongoing training missions. Didn't you read about those in the patch notes?Quote:6) Is this tutorial actually supposed to teach you anything? The old tutorials were nicely broken down into steps that highlighted all the major aspects of gameplay: targeting, damage, conning, inspirations, enhancements, combining enhancements, glowies, allies, missions, etc. This was a jumbled mess of "do this, now do that" without any clue of how all this stuff is supposed to work. I guess I understand now why CoX implemented the Help channel: We're not going to tell you how to play the game -- that's what other players are for!
Quote:Players will learn the following throughout Level Ranges 5 - 19: - Contact introduction
- Redirects
- Cell-phone contacts
- Consistent use of trainers
- Using trams (aka Monorail / Ferry)
- Notoriety settings
- Kidnap and kill boss missions
- Pet combat
- Auction houses
- Where to find clues that progress a mission
- Ambush combat behavior
- Mission maps
- Dialogue trees
- Supergroups
- Lore characters
- Enhancements
- Introduction to Inventions
- Sidekicks and Lackeys
- Enemy Groups
- Introduction to Alignment and Morality
You are incapable of getting defeated in the new tutorial.Quote:7) Ooooh, big scary Shivan monster who apparently is no real threat to my level 1 character at all
You didn't listen to the speaker telling you that you can change later, huh? Or pay any attention whatsoever about the last year of the game with Going Rogue, huh? You roleplay through the tip system.Quote:9) About the only thing that I liked was the moral choice component, but even that felt a bit misleading given that you're never going to see that in the CoX side of the game ever again after that. There should probably be a note at the bottom that says, "If you want to roleplay more moral choices like these, try rolling a Praetorian," just to direct people over to the other side where that actually happens repeatedly.
The old tutorials are BORING, annoying, not fun, and yet if you prefer to do the old tutorial missions, the maps are still in the flashback system in the intro to Ouro arc.Quote:I don't know how anyone else feels, and again, this is only my first impression, but I'm already wishing I could have the old tutorials back, just as an option. The new tutorial was annoying, un-fun, and not something I look forward to playing again (though I probably will, since I tend to be a completest about gameplay).
Some people aren't grateful that (a) they'll never miss the tutorial badge on another character, and (b) that you don't have to delay getting into the game to hunt for badges.Quote:10) The only badge I get is for visiting the STORE??? Seriously? I mean, yes, it sort of makes sense, since this was the only feature of the game I actually felt I had been taught to use during the tutorial -- the part that will enable CoX to get more of my money in the future. How utterly shameless and unheroic -- even a villain would be embarrased by such money-grubbing tactics. -
Quote:Then the security measures aren't good enough.Well thing is, you *CAN* do it you just have to spend a lot of money. Essentially, if you are willing to spend extra money to buy the other packages you can continue to buy them. I even tested this (Because I did need more points) and while i can buy the 50, 15, or 5 dollar packages I can no longer buy the 100 dollar packages.
-
Quote:If I recall correctly Positron stated on one of the Ustreams that they "had plans in place" to prevent people from purchasing from new to Tier 9 "right away".So I did some testing, and the Paragon Market will not allow you to buy the same point code multiple times. *THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SPENDING LIMIT ON YOUR ACCOUNT*
To give an example, I bought the 100 dollar point code twice. I tried to purchase a third one so I could completely fill out the inventory increases (Then I figure I could let my Vet points ride 550 a month). When I try and purchase this code, it gives an error stating that as a security measure, the NCSoft Store only allows you to purchase X amount of "codes."
I decided to test this further and tried to purchase one of the other point packages, it allowed me. I have been paying through Paypal which is not connected to my spending limit. I have even double checked my spending limit and I am currently only at 15/300 dollar limit.
Ultimately, you cannot purchase the same code more then twice. I am not sure the "cooldown" on this but I have sent in a petition and haven't received a response yet.
Congratulations, you found the security to prevent people from buying Tier 9 in a week!
On a personal note, I'm thankful for that because (1) it protects Paragon Studios from potential fraud and (2) prevents someone with more money than brains from devaluing my past subscription time. -

Quote:To get a list of your unlocks you can use the /mypurchases command.I cant find any way in the store to see my transaction history, or in my master account. Is there a way?
Warning: it will spam your system message channel.
The easiest way to see it outside of the game is to:- enable chat logging
- use the /mypurchases command
- close the game
- change the log file extension to .htm
- open the log file in a browser

Quote:This is exactly what the little lock means.I believe the padlock means that some of the parts in that costume are ones that have been moved in the reshuffling of the costume menus. You may have to hunt down the part and redo it if you edit the costume.
Edit:
Looking at the picture, I would guess the face part has been changed/moved.
Edit2:
You will be able to enter the tailor session, and look for the parts with price changes. You were given a free tailor token to fix the parts without cost to you. If you are not satisfied, you can back out without changing the costume. -
Quote:The /mypurchases list these as:I was wondering if the Purchasable Aura Unlock and Cape Unlock in the Paragon Market affects all characters or if it is just a per character transaction?
- Aura Unlock - Account wide MTX unlock to access base Auras.
- Back Slot Unlock - Account wide MTX to access base "Capes"

Quote:To get a list of your unlocks you can use the /mypurchases command. Is there a way to tell, when in the new store interface, which items we already have access to vs. things we dont already have. I like that they included the ability for VIP to purchase the game content evn though they already have access via their VIP status, but I would like to be able to tell what I already have when using the store.
Ideally, we would be able to distinguish between; What we own, what we have access to vie VIP but haven't purchased, and what we don't have any access to at all. I know you can tell from in game, such as during character generation, but it would still be nice to be able to tell from inside the store so I don't accidentally buy something I have already bought.

Quote:Look, for all I know, it could be the person holding this up is Positron himself. I do know that it caught Zwillinger by surprise, so even he didn't know the fundamental reason. Given the front line community rep didn't know I think that the expectation that any player, including myself, would know why is completely unreasonable.A contractual obligation such as, the artist gets paid a percentage of the kit sales? And the contract specifies that the items can't be repackaged or made available in any other way?
You seem more plugged in than I am. Still, my guess was that Positron was referring to executives who made that decision.
I've told you the official answer, I've shown you where you can find the official answer from a senior developer at Paragon Studios, and I can't change the official answer.
Short of the person who is blocking this leaving, the CoH and CoV collector's goodies will not be available in the market. -
Check out one of the recorded Ustreams from Tuesday morning:
http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/17246488
Go to time Index 00:41:40 - 00:42:15 for your explanation. Positron said that some people will have to be not working at Paragon Studios for the power slide to be made available on the Paragon Market. I'm guessing there is a contractual obligation with an artist involved preventing them from releasing the Power Slide & Cape of the Four Winds.
The end result is the same. It will NOT be put on the market for the foreseeable future. It may never appear on the market, at least as far as Positron has said. I'll assume the same can be said about the CoV Collector's Edition. -
Technically it is the beginning of your next month, not the end of the current month.

Quote:I did that with a text editor that supported regular expressions and a bit of common sense. The lack of a transaction history is, to be blunt, retarded. I seldom use the term retarded because I think the term is too much of an insult to mentally challenge people. If you have the inclination, you could write a script to reparse that data as CSV and stick it into Excel. I might do that this weekend if I have some time. You could then do things like sort it looking for similar or duplicate items.
However retarded is also used as "to slow the growth or development of" something. That describes the market exactly.
And when I pointed this out to Clockwork 01, he said the situation was "less than ideal". His "less than ideal" is, in my opinion, a bunch of refuse that should be taken to a recycling facility to make something useful.Quote:A lack of simple records here is problematic for basic end users.
Yup.Quote:It occurred to them to log when you spend points. It just didn't seem to occur to them to have a way to show what you spent the points on. Which to be honest seems more retarded than completely forgetting to log it.
I've done a more complex site (by myself) while I was in school (Art Institute), over the course of 4 weeks while doing other projects AND hand coding the Scoop. AJAX isn't needed for the current state of the Paragon Market. PHP/MySQL, yes.Quote:Honestly, I have to be frank here. The last time I saw something like the Paragon Store's implementation someone outsourced development to a sweatshop in India. I bet I could write something better in PHP in a weekend. I don't even know why its written in an Ajax toolkit when the store pages seem almost completely static. Coding a store in Ajax and having back buttons not work right is like chartering a 747 to take just two people from San Francisco to Los Angeles and then driving it down the interstate to get there.
I think that the standard code rant needs to be updated because of situations like this. -
At the moment you will get the 550 PP (assuming Tier 9 from your post) and 1 reward token at the date of your next billing cycle in October. You will get 550 PP and 1 reward token in November.
So hypothetically, let's say that your billing date was the 14th. On October 14 you will get 550 PP + 1 RT. On November 14 you will get 550 PP + 1 RT. On December 14 you will get 550 PP + 1 RT. -

Quote:And how many characters you get on a server isn't material. The store will not only be open to subscribers. If you are going to look at prices, you will have to take both extremes into account. So $10 for the player (subscriber or premium) that only plays one character vs $0.003 for the person with 768 characters (who is unlikely to get use out of all those slots). The average is still $5 per costume slot.No it's not. Regardless of how much you deny it your subscription gets you a minimum of 12 characters on 16 servers.
I've not looked at the character limit on that other game, but the same math applies. Only they are 1/4 the price of this game. And there isn't a limit as to how many characters you can have at the other game. There isn't a limit of 10 costume slots per character in that other game. Yes, you might start out with less characters, but given that they get a free character slot for each max level character, the value of their costume slots goes down far quicker than here.
Combined, the 1/4 the price and the no upper limit shows that the price for costume slots here is about as justified as the $90 monocle in Eve.
Ok, so I transposed costume slots to characters. Outside of using the test & beta servers, it is possible to have 768 characters. 192 characters is unlikely for most players. The same player getting use out of 960 costume slots is smaller still. Your theoretical limit is still bunk.Quote:If someone has 980 characters on their account they aren't playing City of Heroes so they have no reason to be costume slots for this game.
Because I know you won't put your money where your mouth is. You won't back up your position, and I'm calling you out on it.Quote:Typical response from someone whose mad that they are wrong.
No, it is really not relevant. However if I did want to discuss it, my cable company lets me buy channels individually in an a la carte process. Or they'll bundle channels if I choose. If I choose the bundles, I get a discount for more channels. I still get to pick which channels. I get a base set of channels as a part of my subscription, just like I get 12 character slots at each server. So I don't see any relevance to discussing Cable pricing. -
I did 1 Underground and 2 BAFs last night. I'm positive I could have done 4 more BAFs in the time it took to form & do the one Underground. I might have been able to do a 5th BAF, but that would have been dependent on what kind of group I could have found.

Quote:I was thinking of posting a "DOOM! The world is ending in 800 months!" thread.I find this amusing:
Mission Architect License (30 day) 800 0 2077-05-29 10:33:00 COLIMARC
The game thinks I've bought 800 30 day mission architect licenses and they will expire in 2077. Ditto the auction house and inventions. It sort of makes sense, but its still funny.
Edit: I'm not sure if I would consider that fail safe, or wildly optimistic.
If anyone is still playing in 2077, I wonder if they will get an extension to those licences (there are a couple). -
Quote:I think I caught everything at this point, feel free to let me know if I missed anything.Just at a cursory glance I can already tell you some of those are wrong. If you'd like assistance tracking down any errors, I'd be happy to when I have a minute.
It shouldn't be possible to buy anything you have already unlocked. According to Clockwork 01, the best way to check costumes is through the tailor.Quote:Speaking of feeling cheated...
Do any of the costume packs contain things that weren't included in the Booster it's modeled after? IE, if I've bought all the boosters back when they were available, do I have all the costume pieces that the costume packs offer?
If so, than it is possible to purchase something you already have..
It should be noted that the Paragon Market sells only 1 Cyborg Aura, leading one to think that all are unlocked with the same 80 PP purchase.Quote:Agreed. Especially considering there's what, just 3 of them in the Cyborg Booster. It's pretty reasonable to suppose that something which describe itself as a costume pack would include everything from the old Booster which was in the Costume Creator (ie the auras too), especially given any lack of clarification in the Products Description.
