  1. Hahahahaha!!! That is awesome! I'm just thinking of him in him in Firstblood in the situation described. Pure hilarity!

    Hey, anyone seen my luck?

I seem to have dropped it around here somewhere. If anyone finds it laying around, please return it to me.

    Thanks.

Oh, i thought I saw somebody's luck laying under the shoe of one of the merit vendors. I can't remember which one, but I'm always in Talos, so it could have been that one. Hmmmmm....
  3. I was just looking at Nethergoat's sig and wondered what I16 will add to it.
  4. Easy way to millions of inf:

    1) Run the tutorial
    2) Keep the large insps
    3) Put the insps in WW
    4) Run with a sewer group to lvl five or six
    5) Return to WW and list insps (should net a good 50 or 60K minimum)
    6) Wait for insps to sell
    7) Collect inf
    8) Start flipping Destinies (buy for around 45K and sell for 100K, or shoot, use tickets from the MA if you want to save on buying costs. I flip because i can literally do so in my sleep).
    9) Repeat step 8 until you have a few million saved up and move on to bigger game.

This is my SOP for all new toons and never have to worry about inf. I don't have to use an inf mule to transfer inf either. Every toon earns their own.

    Edit: for spell check

I really don't think so, but I can hope that I just might get lucky. Just like hoping I might win the lottery.

I just was wondering, does anyone else get irritated when u finally get into a team, u do 1 or 2 missions, and then u have the "Incredible Shrinking Team" happen? What I mean is u do a couple of mishes with a really good/well-balanced group, and then the people whose mishes u did just leave, without saying anything, yer team just shrinks. To me that is kinda disrespectful and irritating. I am sorry, i had to vent.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I totally empathise with your frustration. Just earlier this evening I thought, "Hmmm, maybe I've been a little hard on AE. Perhaps I'll give it another go." Conveniently, I was in AP when I had this thought and AE teams lfm were abundant.

I joined my team about 4th or 5th on the roster and waited for the team to be filled out. I marveled at the number of toons hanging out near the data stream and browsed for cool costumes to bestow some of my hoarded Numina: Heal IOs on. Then I noticed that the team was full and most already entered the mission.

Once inside we were on a custom map full of sledehammer-weilding doctors, nurses, and civilians. It looked like the work of Mother Mayhem and mayhem was exactly what we started dishing out.

As we progressed through the groups of baddies, I noticed that our team was shrinking one member at a time. We didn't team wipe, but a controller might have been careless in drawing too much aggro and face planted. The mobs weren't going down super quick as they were all lvl 54 with what appeared to be some good damage resistance.

Finally, there were four of us left, and I guess we failed to protect something because suddenly we were booted from the mission.

On that note, I typed a quick, "*Now* I remember why I solo." and quit the team. I'll be happy to stick it out on my own a little longer and dream of the day that I can solo a map like the one I was on with the new diff system coming in I16.
  8. Ever since I've gotten my Kat/WP into AV soloing status, I have become rather fond of soloing while on teams. I'll usually jump ahead a few groups and when the team catches up, I jump ahead a few more mobs. Nobody's said anything about it at this point except a corrupter (running RWZ missions) who seemed impressed that I was running ahead and not dying.

The only problem I have is when another teammate like a def thinks they need to follow me to keep me alive and end up getting themselves killed.

Tanks are negligable unless I'm going up against those blasted Vanguards. But other than that, i haven't found many missions where I'm not alright just doing my own thing.

I think the answers to your questions mainly lie in how much punishment you can endure. If you can take a lot, then don't hesitate. Otherwise just keep doing what you're doing and try not to get in over your head. Though it is always fun to try pushing yourself to the limit, just to see if you can survive.

Heh.. i know extra +def is nice to have and all.. but being worth more than billion inf?

    [/ QUOTE ]
I know I didn't think it was. I'll put in a bid and hope that somebody will list low enough that I'll be able to grap one up. I'm still willing to pay good ifn...just not 1 Bil worth of good.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
My solution is to forum a crusade to supply more common salvage daily. The goal is small currently, only 100 common salvage per person per day ( this works out to 800 tickets, or half a mission worth of tickets basically).

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ohhhh, a new evil plot!!! You do realize that some ebil flipper could come in and buy up your supply and flip it at the current market prices? I like this plan!
  11. AgentMountaineer

    Extreme Flippage

Ahhhh shoot. I was trying a little bit of bid creeping between 700 Mil and 1 Bil, but stopped there because that was as much as I wanted to spend on one. *sighs* I decided to use my funds to just keep earning more influence. I really don't *need* the extra 3%, but it would be nice.
  12. And, it might go without saying, flipping mid-range uncommon salvage is a great way to get some start up funds.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
    Competing flippers drive prices down.

    [/ QUOTE ]

At first I wanted to argue with this, but then I thought it through some more and realized that you're probably right depending on just how competitive the flippers are and one of the flippers doesn't get driven out when it appears that prices are rising.
  14. It's true. I've been doing my own little bit first-time hoarding in preparation for 2XP weekend. I am very interested to see if I don't rise to a new level of ebilness for my scheme.

    Time will tell.

I've still been playing with Respec recipes a bunch that I bought for around 40 million. For those who haven't been paying attention, they recently were going for 90 and some even for 100 Million. I was the proud collector on a few of those sales. It was very satisfying to be making a ~60 Million inf profit, very satisfying indeed. For anybody wanting to jump on that wagon, as of this morning, they are back down to around 75 million each, but we'll see what happens next.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
    I resemble that remark!

Does this phrase rub anybody else wrong like it does me? Nothing against the poster who wrote it, but I really just find it an odd phrase.

    Thank you Devs

What exactly does it mean to maximize your potential? Run invince missions solo without dying, run on invince teams w/o dying, soloing AVs and GMs?

Also what is a 'rasonable amount of time'? How long should it take casual Joe to 'maximize his potential?"

The problem I have with these 'casual gamer' situations is that it is so incredibly subjective and lacks any real definition. Everybody has an opinion as to what it means to be a casual gamer, and I think it's just a misnomer anyway.

I've made this assertion before, but this game isn't there just for your entertainment, but to make money. If rewards are too easy to come by and content not challenging enough, who is going to continue to play the game? The game has to appeal to as broad a base as possible. Believe it or not, some people find appeal in the challenge of playing PvP for POs. Others find the challenge of accruing the inf to buy the enhancements for their Uber build to be their draw to the game.

Just because casual Joe can't afford the high-end builds doesn't mean the system is broken. There aer any number of ways to get access to a high-end build anyway. Whichever road you take requires time and effort whether you grind farms, TFs, or spend some time on the markets utilizing a good strategy there.

Don't let the mentality that you can't afford it rule your mind. Such negativity never got anybody an AV soloing or primo farming build. You can do whatever you want in this MMO, but you first have to believe you can.

Hope you're not one of those guys who just buys purples , just cause they are purple. Purple with a purpose is my motto.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Purples? No, I only buy purples when I intend to slot them, which isn't that often. I do buy expensive recipes to craft and sell for some very nice profits, but due to the rarity of purples, I leave them to others with a greater degree of ebilness in them.

I've become disenchanted with the whole AE system, particularly the fact that there's one in AP. But that just means I start my toons in Galaxy instead. I can't beat AE, I won't get back on the AE wagon, I just ignore it altogether.

I guess I'm selfish. I'm not often playing on teams anyway, so I want this.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Echo this. AE has already made teaming a much less enjoyable experience for me. Might as well shoot the horse and put it out of its misery...and upgrade me to a much sweeter ride!
  19. All I can say with the news released today is that I won't be straying from City of Heroes any time soon. I was just going to give it a test run to see how it went, but didn't imagine leaving for long, if at all. Now I have too many reasons to stay!

    Difficulty increases FTW!!!!
  20. [ QUOTE ]
I actually think the opposite. I predict that a lot of people will leave the game to pursue something new (that other mmo) and the market will inflate drastically to compensate.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't know. Personally, I had an order for that other MMO, but no more. I'm loving the idea of power customization and the difficulty slider. With it being so much easier to solo large maps with larger groups of critters, we could actually see an increase of drop-farming and some migration away from AE as it will no longer be the new shiny on the block.

Also, though I have no idea with the ration of incomingutgoing subscribers is with each new issue realease, I'd wager that we'll see more people come in than we see leave which means more supply if poeple do move away from the AE.

I am still a supporter of moving the AE building out of AP, but that may just always be a fantasy. I love the idea of Maelstrom or Reichsman coming in and leveling the place. What happens to a hero if they are embedded in a data stream and the system is destroyed? It would be an awesome way to significantly curtail the hero population, that's all I know!
  21. I'm a sucker for X-Men's Wolverine. They could seriously make 2 or 3 more origin movies just on him and I'd be happy. When he goes feral, he epitomizes scrapper-ness.
  22. AgentMountaineer

    I16 and MA

It's official. I have cancelled my order for Champions. Issue 16 has far too much win to think about going anywhere else...at least until SWtOR, but that's not for roughly a year AFAIK. Who knows what could come down the pike in the meantime?
  23. AE???? What is AE? I must have missed something in the patch notes (it wouldn't be the first time). I noticed AP is flooded with requests for AE farms, but as a soloist, I haven't really paid much attention to them. Wonder what *that's* all about....hmmmm.
  24. Thanks for the link....with all that's happening in CoX, I think I'm going to disregard my trial of that other MMO that is coming out in September. I was thinking about giving it a try, but now it isn't looking appealing at all! I know where my time is going to be spent!
  25. Whoa, wait! I new difficulty system??? Where can I read more about that?
