Quote:You haven't actually played it recently have you?Whirling Hands? As the only AOE in the set, I don't think you could do that unless you replaced it with an AOE energy blast.
Perhaps Stun? As was mentioned, it does little for the set as all the other attacks already have stackable stuns built in.
The stackable stuns of teh set take 2 or 3 second apiece to fire. The other attacks only have a chance to stun. And even if they do stun, to effectively stun 8-10 mobs requires somewhere around 15 to 30 secs depending on your luck. And, of course, by the time the second of third mob is stunned, the first one isn't anymore. So the mitigation of the single target stackable stuns isn't that great [except against one or two opponents at a time].
So making it so that Whirling Hands could provide reliable mitigation against a handful of mobs would make a big difference. -
Quote:LOLWhat do you want to say to people who don't have time to spend 24/7 on game just to slot 1 toon? GET WRECKED by people who have no life and spend 24/7 in mommy's basement playing coh? Considering devs nerf something every issue you have to remake every 4-5 months.
Every market guide I have ever read touts how little daily time it takes to use their system w/e it happens to be.
From what I can tell, one of the biggest parts of marketeering is waiting. I suspect that while they wait, marketeers go out and run mishes of some sort.
I spend about 2-10 minutes at a time on the market--mostly just making sure that I always have something up for sale. I spend the rest of my time running various SF, or mishes as my VG, friends or coalition mates happen to be doing. [Except for recently, I have decided to run every last one of the Ouro mishes at least once.]
I DON'T have the richest toons of any player I know. But I don't have a lack of anything I want and I have FUN every time I log on.
FWIW, I have a family, a job and am going to school. That's my life.
So, yeah anyone who wants to complain that Ultra-Rares aren't easy for everyone is complaining to a brick wall as far as I am concerned.
Also, afaict, the game is just as fun w/o them. I enjoyed my time before IOs existed. -
Prior to getting the badge I had some dropping every night--at least 2 or three.
No one else has had that issue, huh?
Well, I am off to start logging my drops then. -
Idk about that pack in particular, but I would definitely consider buying a base booster pack
-
I got smuggler day job badge a few days ago and have not any enhancement drops at all since then.
Not that I miss them or anything, but seems rather unusual.
Anyone else have this issue? -
Quote:Or perhaps the stun duration could be decreased. If it had a straight stun, you can count on the fact that the recharge would be cranked up to account for it. Even if the mag remained the same (mag 2), you can be sure that the recharge would be more than doubled because of how easy it would be to have that stun permanently with the current duration and recharge. I would predict a recharge increase to at least 45 seconds to account for the ability to stun guaranteed (and that's just balancing it to be equal to Flashfire, not worse, where it would most likely end up).
It doesn't need to stack, just to cut the aggro for a second or two at a time. kind of like knockdown. -
I think that WH would be just fine with the same dmg if the chance to stun were changed to a straight stun.
Dmg mitigation is something that was lessened in the last nerf.
Mitigation through stun decreased and mitigation through killing decreased.
I play brutes. I happen to have 2 wp brutes. my EM is full accolades and full IOs, (purples, numinas, miracle, regen tissue, lotgs etc), but cant compete with my stone melee which has only one accolade and a hodge-podge of various SOs, IOs and partial sets.
On paper the EM brute looks much better-- better def, better res, better regen, more HP etc. But when it comes down to it, the dmg mitigation of stone melee allows the SM/WP brute to outperform the EM/WP one.
But, more dmg to WH would be nice too. Maybe more helpful to a tank than a brute, idk. But my EM brute could definitely use more dmg mitgation from his attack set.
As is, it's slotted with the Absolute Amazement -tohit proc, which is somewhat better than nothing when it comes to mitigation. -
You know, when a thread starts to head this way, it really is ok to get off before the thread finishes.
A few warning signs of a good time to get off the train are:
people start typing in all caps or even better all caps bolded
people start hypothesizing about what other people are like--usually insinuating, implying or out right saying that a person or people who hold different opinions have negative attributes / personality traits that extend beyond the topic at hand
language and sentiments that are more intense than the subject matter at hand calls for
and so on.
It's ok to let it go sometimes. It's just the internets.

Quote:It took me three to get out of mine.This.
When I respec, given that I am keeping the same powersets (other than the ancillary or patron powersets, I rarely change what I want to enhance on a particular individual power - for example, I keep the PBAoE and I keep the Posi Blast set in that power.
I would like to see one of these builds that has so many powers that are being changed to the point that the IO sets already slotted will not accomplish the goals for the player in the new build. I don't have a build that needs 5 respecs to pull out IOs, but I sure would like to see one for once.
So until I see examples, I agree with Zombie Man that folks are overstating the problem.
I am not complaining though. -
I am not sure, but I think it's customary to include at least the Stealth concealment power for pvp stalkers
-
Quote:Been a while since you priced them I see.If 10 enhancements isn't 'worth' the 30-50 million or so for a respec recipe, they clearly aren't THAT valuable.
If they are, then pay that cost to free then up.
Last I looked, they were over 100mil redside.
fwiw, I am satisfied w/ how things are -
Quote:You are just so right. No, to me, no sets should be hard. That's the whole point of having a game with excellent customization and not tying costumes to performance values--looking cool shouldn't be "hard". It should be easy, and that is supposed to be one of the things that seperates us from other games. We don't have to slave for hours in order to get the Cloak of Uber Goodness. Having all the costume options available up front is fair, and is attractive to new players. Pretending that the concept of "prestige costumes" has value is pretentious and serves no purpose.
I suppose it would be, if you didn't use the ridiculous strawman arguement that I don't believe ANY rewards should be hard to achieve. Read more closely--I think acccolades that improve performance makes perfect sense--playing should improve your performance anyway.
"My real-life quote made me look foolish, so I'll pretend I didn't make it." You used a real-life example because art often imitates life. Don't call "time out" because your reasoning doesn't hold water. Fighting a war just to get a costume is stupid in real life, and it's even more stupid in a game.
Anything else you want to tell me before I go? -
Quote:So, to you, one hard set ruins the benefit of all of the others.Having a hard to aquire set defeats the purpose of advertising that your game has one of the best character creation tools ever, and that it is built with the casual gamer in mind.
My mileage varies. I am fine with many easier ones and a few hard ones.
Quote:Because you shouldn't have to grind your way through repetetive content for a costume. Period.
I trust my assertion was as persuasive as yours.
Quote:Having an inclusive and comprehensive costume creater RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX is what I consider "valuable". Making people jump through hoops to get a costume doesn't make that costume "valuable"--it just proves that you've run out of ideas, and you've started to alienate new players/people with altitis/people with lower-end computers, etc. There is no need for that.
Quote:I just got back from Afghanistan, and I can tell you, no one--NO ONE--risks their lives for a GODD***ED RIBBON. You do it because you love your country, you do it because you love your family, and you do it because you care about the people standing next to you. Anyone who risks their lives for a "bit of colored ribbon" belongs in a madhouse.
Bear in mind that we're still just talking about pretendy fun time stuff and it's not about risking actual lives. It's just about playing a game to get a pretend outfit for a made up character.
No need for the 'shouting'.
You think of this differently, (and apparently more passionately), than I do and that's fine. -
Quote:Having a hard acquire set diminishes or undermines the rest of the easier to acquire sets? The fuss is because one of the main draws of this game is the costume creator, and that draw is undermined by making the Vanguard set so difficult to obtain.
Quote:Normally, that much effort (either in raids or grinding), would earn you a nice boost to your performance through increased accuracy, higher damage, etc. That would be considered "worth it". Instead, the developers have mixed up their markets--they've given a costume set (something casual gamers/RP'ers enjoy) as a reward for raids and grinding (something min/maxers, raiders, etc do expecting performance increases).
Quote:I don't think Samuel_Tow is suggesting he wants the Vanguard costumes to be "better"...
However, if the costume set is no better than some other one, substitute the one that's more easily attainable and be done with it. Yet, people don't seem to be satisfied with that for some reason(s).
IMVHO, (which is most likely different from some of the other voices here who want the VG set), the only reason that the VG set is better than one of the other sets is that the VG set is a sign of achievement and a mark of distinction. Obviously, for other folks, their mileage varies.
Quote:Making people jump through extraordinary hoops just for a COSTUME makes no sense.
To me anyway, easier to get means less valuable. Obviously, other people see things differently.
A soldier will fight long and hard for a bit of colored ribbon.

Quote:Since these pieces are no better than the other pieces, what's all the fuss about? However, unless you can make an argument as to why Vanguard costume items are BETTER than, say, Enforcer items (and they're actually not) or even capes, then you really have no ground to claim that their being much harder to obtain is justified, even if it IS the status quo.
<SNIP>
Until then, the Vanguard pieces are just not worth the bother. -
I know a toon called something like Rogue Isle Champ who has the whole boxing get-up. SS/? brute iirc
-
When you're leading an npc, I think that npcs who fight can see you even when you're stealthed, but non-combat npcs cannot.
I may be wrong though. -
What's the deadline for getting the vanguard costume items?
-
I don't think vanguard stuff is overpriced. There's not a damn thing else to do with the merits. They just pile up. Eventually you have to burn them on something.
Yeah, it might take a bit if you're watching the pot waiting on it to boil. But basically, they just accumulate and accumulate with no where else to go. -
Quote:Of all the vet rewards these are the ones I would use most.Just hit 66 months and I see nothing really special this time around. 5 more Salvage slots, 5 more Receipe slots, and 1 new auction slot. Honestly, I rarely need all the slots I have. I wonder if the Devs are phasing the whole thing out?
I was thrilled to get my vanguard thingy that gave me more salvage capacity.
Obviously, YMMV. -
...you have AVG.
There's a hotfix on their forums.
The actual fix will be out soon.
