Run a Kahn. Mine took about half an hour. They were PUGs.

People are apparently getting close to the 20 minute mark.

    Holy

I could see if you the notices only dropped for moLRSF but people are running Kahn in half an hour, surely the most casual player can commit that much time.

Try joining the Justice United channel, a great place to find teams. (And pretty good ones too!)

Everyone is busy grinding incarnate stuff on their 50s right now, and redside is always a little sparse.

The good news is that next week's incarnate task force is Silver Mantis SF level 20-25. There will be teams forming almost constantly next week, I'm hoping to level some alts myself.

Once you hit level 35 you can join the ITF bandwagon, and the levels will come fast and furious.
  4. I'd put more ACC in the tier 1 pets, they're a couple of levels below you and need the help.

Bots is a grind in the mid 20s. Teaming might be a good way to get you over the hump, all those traps that help your bots will help the teammates as well.

Level 32 will be a beautiful thing, we promise!

Super Speed and FFG is a recipe for faceplants, learned that the hard way

I turn off SS when I'm actually in combat, and if there's a kin on the team I keep an eye on FFG to be sure I don't lose him. I colored my FFG bubble a bright purple to make it easier to keep track of.

Once in a rare I've teamed with a Kin who SBs FFG, what a joy.

Teleport sounded like a good idea, I'd 'port into the middle of a crowd and toebomb. The problem of course is that FFG doesn't 'port with you on short hops... OUCH!

Storm won't take teammates from zero to hero, but it can bump a half-decent team to "good" or a good team to "steamroller".

I also love storm solo because you can KB like a lunatic.

We might be running different kinds of PUGs. My play time consists of soloing tip mishes until something interesting starts recruiting in the Justice United channel.

JU is friendly but businesslike. We want to have a good time but when a TF or raid forms people discuss what toons they have to offer and try to recruit complimentary powersets.

JU PUGs range from decent to outstanding. I'm never spending an entire mish as the sole factor between success and a wipe. There's usually at least one very good toon, maybe several. And of course a skilled player levelling a new toon is worth more then a Monkey Baby's 50.

I'll re-emphasize "friendly", I've been on many JU "Master Of" PUGs, good and bad. There's never recriminations on failure.

So maybe I've got the wrong idea about PUGs. If you aren't drawing from a decent talent pool I suppose you don't hit the diminishing returns of FF the way we do. I'll pipe down and be over here counting my blessings

This is probably where my perspective differs.

I've got a pile of alts in their 20s and 30s, each one with the potential for greatness. There are a lot of ways to make great toons in this game- Dark Miasma, Storm, Traps, Kin, Rad, to say nothing of my baby Dom or Crab. Some of these guys are going the be awesome!

Buying more slots wouldn't even help, it'll take me years to get my current alts to 50, and now there's the extra grind of incarate stuff they'll need to do.

It all comes down to fun,and I guess that's different for everyone. If I'm going to play a toon it better be GREAT, because there are lots of lowbie alts competing for my playtime, and a zillion character concepts competing for that slot.

Yes, 1 small purple to start off a tough fight. Assuming no-one else on the team is running any +DEF powers.

In exchange the team gets vicious debuffs, soft control, AOE holds with a little proc slotting, and lots of damage.

Look, my first 50 was a bubbler. I wasted an enormous amount of time getting to 50, safely but sloooooowly. When my trapper hit mid-30s I realized that the bubbler had been eclipsed in every way. Well, except knockback powers.

If you've got a mature bubbler you enjoy playing that's great but why anyone would suggest someone roll a new one is beyond me.

My policy has always been, and always will be: Any build, any budget, no exclusions.

Bring me your petless MM concepts. Bring me your AR/Dev on SOs. Bring me your stalkers and peacebringers. We're going to have a good time regardless.

If I can do it, so can all of you.
Ah, but if you're running a top-tier toon you can pick up the slack yourself.

If the OP had been trying to join a team that already had a pimped out bots/traps they wouldn't have been begging for debuffs.

I ran 2 LRSFs last night.

Team 1 - my bots/traps, a dark miasma, a stormie and a rad. And some blaster and melee for the ride. We did the last fight old-school, pull to the top of the globe and duke it out. We wiped twice but completed in 90 minutes, very respectable.

Team 2 - some melee, a couple of blasters, a permadom and a crab. The permadom had trouble sleeping and pulling AVs individually. We didn't have enough debuff to duke it out, after several wipes we ended up not completing the TF.

Team composition does matter, if your DA tank had been there instead of (e.g.) one of the scrappers the team would have completed. A rad or trapper with just SOs would have put us over the top. A bubbler with -defence... not so much.

If a squishy player is running around with absolutely zero defence of their own, I sure as heck don't feel bad that I can't softcap them with my trapper's FFG. I'm not their mommy, people need to take some responsibility for their own hide. Eat purples for tough fights or spend the whole mish admiring the floor for all I care.

In practice you've often got several teammates running maneuvers, or maybe a Dark or Stormie or Crab with a toggle +DEF power to add to the FFG.

    Bots/Traps input

Don't know if I'd call it an attack chain, but here's how I play.

    1) Seekers summoned on edge of crowd(optional if you're steamrolling)
    2) Move into middle of crowd and drop poison gas trap.
    3) Drop acid mortar.
    4) By this time most of the crowd will be choking and some will be held because of the %chance to hold proc. (lockdown?) Your pets have probably followed you into the crowd and are starting to attack.
    5) If there's a thick concentration of mobs I'll toss caltrops.
    6) Toebomb a tripmine on the feet of the biggest crowd or whoever looks toughest.
    7) Everything is probably 3/4 dead by now, let the pets clear up the stragglers.

Superspeed is a bad idea in combat, you can severely outdistance your FFG in about 3 seconds with SS.

If you're fighting an EB etc. spam web-nades, they do -recharge as well as immob.

If you/your team are in trouble it's too late to lay a triage beacon. Get a feel for what you can handle and lay it early if you think there might be trouble. You're probably built for recharge, it'll be back soon.

On a team, I won't stay to polish off stragglers, I'm quick to move into the next crowd. If you don't drop PGT/acid mortar into the middle of a big crowd it's hardly worth the setup time. Make the brute/tank race you.

Similarily, if you're doing an ITF or whatever and you know an ambush is about to spawn, step back from the crowd and position yourself in a likely spot to intercept the ambush. They'll be running towards you and when you drop PGT/acid mortar they'll bunch up tightly. When the rest of the team arrives to help you'll have everything herded and debuffed, easy picking for whatever AOE madness the rest of the team can throw.
  15. I didn't softcap defences on my SS/WP brute, and he's still pretty darn survivable.

He's no granite tank, but how survivable do you need to be? I can pop a purple + orange and be the first man into the bowl during a ship raid and stay alive long enough for everyone else to straggle in. Once on a Khan TF the rest of the team faceplanted and I was left by myself with Reichsman and his 4 AV buddies. I lasted quite a while, seemed like forever in fact Seriously though I did last a minute or two, probably about as long as the ice defender's and sonic corr's shield lasted.

I personally am happy with a compromise of survivability and recharge, softcapped everything is not the only way to have a viable brute who can pull his weight on TFs and raids. You're probably going to get a little DEF buffing from team-mates anyway, seems half the playerbase runs maneuvers these days.

Darkest Night and RttC give you serious -tohit, i.e. the other side of the coin to defence.

I found a huge difference after getting all the accolades, all that extra HP is great and boosts the regen nicely.

random advice - Footstomp can slot a KB proc that gives a chance for recharge (forget the name right now) It procs a LOT, highly recommended.

Let's not spoil the Defender Solidarity pity party with inconvenient stuff like how to build a sensibly balanced team, or how some powersets debuff better then others.
  17. Are you certain you want FF?

Traps provides almost as much defence, with outstanding debuffs and some damage.

If you like the FF knockback powers you could play a stormie instead and have KB plus great debuffs and damage.

If you like the idea of buffing teammates every couple of minutes you could play ice or sonic or a /therm corr.

If you absolutely must be a bubbler make it a mastermind, at least your pets will do half decent damage.
  18. When teaming my necro/dark I try to judge where I should be anchoring Darkest Night, i.e. if there's a shield scrapper and/or a stalker on the team the boss will probably go down first so I target a lieutenant. If there's a lot of AOE I'll DN the boss.

I don't know how much cash you have but the +DEF and +RES pet procs are a big help. Demons can slot all 4, yay!

Have you frankenslotted lots of -tohit on DN, FS etc? Those sets are dirt cheap.

My /dark is a mastermind and I tend to follow my pets into melee, trying to keep them within reach of my heal.

Soon you'll get Fluffy and that makes everything noticeably safer.

Getting rejected from a team because you're not an Healzor is silly. That team was looking for a debuffer and would presumably have been happy to invite your stormie.

Or any other defender except bubblers and kins. Most any 'troller or corr or mastermind or even a sonic blaster would contribute more debuffs. Hell, I could build a petless mastermind that would contribute 10x better debuffs.

Did I take a wrong turn somewhere into Bizzarro-world defender forums? Defenders are great on teams because they add buffs and debuffs. It's perfectly sensible for teams to try to get a mix of buff and debuff on their teams.

My leadership skills are low, I generally join teams instead of forming them. But if someone asked me what toon to bring and offered a FF defender and any other defender/corr/troller/MM, I'd pick the non-bubbler.

It's an AOE pseudo-hold and tohit debuff that recharges quickly and covers a ridiculously huge arc.

You'll greatly decrease the number of attacks launched by enemies, i.e. they're standing around quaking in fear. Once enemies get aggro'd and start attacking those attacks hit less often thanks to the -tohit.

This should be the first or second thing you chuck into a spawn, and if the fight lasts a long time it never hurts to use it a second or even third time.

    pets DO benefit from EndRed.

pets DON'T benefit from Recharge, or the MM's global recharge, those only reduce the time before the MM can resummon.

I don't know if this is concisely summarized somewhere.
