Quick observations: a single gravitational anchor isn't worth a lot in a power. I would recommend taking the Black Scorpion patron for the defense based shield.

Personally I took Mu Mastery for AoE Immobilize and the resistance shield. My defenses are already high for smashing, lethal, and energy (I want to say about 45%, maybe higher) so the resistance bonus is nice for the attacks that do get by. Plus the AoE Immobilize helps to keep the mobs under control and prevent them from scattering from the assault bots missiles. Just my 2 cents.

I disagree, if you include the Protector Bot shield it's pretty easy to softcap Bots/Traps without using the S/L Defense Shield. At that point adding a resistance shield for layered defenses makes more sense IMHO.

You'll need something like 33% def melee, range, AOE if you trust your little protector bot to buff you.

Here is what i've done with mine, working pretty well :
- i couldn't take Hasten, no more power pool aviable
- i am on quite a budget to make it, so no purples or at least not the expensive ones
- i need a good recharge overall and a reasonable endurence consumption, i'm trying to figure right now which incarnate is more suitable for this. For now i'm quite happy with cardiac.
- my bots were hit too often with my old template so i decided to be more active at protecting them, so i choose soul epic pool for the cone with -tohit added to seeker drones -tohit, and stun aura added to photon grenade's stun.
- the resists shields are active only when i want my pets to be really offensive and so i can't benefit from bodyguard. In the case i don't use them spiritual alpha sounds better.

I tried this solo in +1/x8 tip missions, several types of ennemies and it works really well. Trap being a toe bombing set, the stun aura works really fine and protects me even more.

Typing from phone sorry if I've missed something.
To put it bluntly, I don't like it.
Web grenade should either be unslotted or fully slotted. Wasted slot as is.
Triage beacon: can't remember offhand what niracle set offers at 4 and 5 slots. Use doctored wounds instead.
Acid mortar: not enough recharge and no achilles heel proc.
Tough: either you're planning not to run this, if so the aegis res is useless, or you're going to to be gasping for end.
Weave: def/rchg change to the triple.
Poison trap: really don't like it. You want this to be ED capped to recharge.
Trip mine: awful, no point using a proc when you gave it such low damage. Also needs recharge and accuracy.

Basically you pursued defense at the cost of everything else. I can't even fathom how you ended up so underslotted on some powers despite leaving your last 4 powers at one slot.

I'm not perfect but this build should go back to the drawing board.

Wow thanks for the quick replys! It didn't seem right as i was making it every set i went with def which is why i put numinas in the beacon. I went with the hero patron because it is a blue side toon. Guess I could switch when the time comes. I will remake the build when i get home I am on my phone as well.

Honestly, on a bot/traps, the softcap isnt that important for you, but its VERY important for your pets. If you can manage somewhere in the high 30s on defense (doesnt really matter if its positional, or typed) your protector bots will cover the rest for you. Base they give 7.5% def, and if you slot em up, pretty well, they can give upwards of 12% def. (meaning you really only need 37.5% to 33% def)

Another bonus to slotting up your protector bots for defense is that they can very easily softcap your other pets. Between your FFG giving 10% to 15%, the pet def aura giving 5%, and your protector bots double bubbling, you can pretty easily softcap the pets, and then they become pretty durable. I've had my poor battle drones tank a death mage for quite some time due to their softcap.

Once you get a decent amount of defense for yourself, try to get triage beacon perma, or even double stacked. This will amplify the protection from bodyguard mode, and allow your pets to quickly regain health when the protector bots aren't in a healing mood.

Then i would go for some resistance. Using the hero side epic power pools your looking at force mastery, for temp invuln. Honestly it may just be easier to go villain side once you hit around level 40, do the patron arc really quick like, then swap back to hero side (plus you'll get the full circle badge in the process) So you can get access to mu mastery. It has a resistance shield, an AoE immobilize that has -KB so it keeps the bots from knocking things around, and doesn't cause redraw.

Between your layers defense/regen/resistance and your debuffs stacking to add to them (-tohit from seekers stacks with your +dam, -dmg from the seekers stacks with your +resistance) and the -res and -def from the acid mortar making your bots do more damage, and hit much more often.

Like another poster said, you really want the -res proc in the acid mortar, as that proc basically gives you a free acid mortar, and if you can get out 2 or more acid mortars then the proc becomes basically perma.

You can max recharge in seeker drones, acid mortar, triage beacon, and poison trap. You can put some damage procs in poison trap if you have the slots for it, but its not nearly as awesome as it used to be.

Hope all this helps out.

Okay, I admit it. I flaked, forgot about the traps/ffg component to the soft capping. Yes, soft cap for your mastermind is rather easy. Hence, a patron shield of resistance would be yummy gravy.

For your future alpha slot, my suggestion would be spiritual/radial for more recharge for the mastermind, and more stun for the bots. They can stack quite a bit.

Ok round 2 with this I think im getting closer.. couple things.. im not sure on the slotting for charged armor, electric fences and my 4th slot in the ffg. does trip mine have enough oomph with 4 slots?

It is better but..
Protector bots needs some endurance reduction, ditto assault bot.
I'm not seeing any KB protection *yawns*
the 4th slot in FFG is un-needed

I don't advocate personal attacks (photon grenade) I'd take assult there. This would also give you 3 slots to toss about. Could improve trip mine slotting as well as give bots some end red...
*yawns*

Heading to bed now.

Heres what my bot/traps run with, but its a very strange build, and most people tell me its awful and can't do anything, so really YMMV.

Not trying to thread jack, but should Acid Mortar be maxed for Defense Debuff in addition to recharge? Does the Debuff matter? (assuming you have the -RES proc already)

From a Bots/traps standpoint yes because its the only -def you have.

For a AR/Traps Cor or a Merk/Traps its not nearly so important because you have other sources of -def to stack. Remember -defense is like +tohit for everyone.

It was more of a question is the base high enough to bother enhancing? After checking in Mids, the answer is a definite yes. I'm getting ~32.5% debuff out of it.

Another question...what is the purpose of Seeker Drones? Should you slot for Stun or ToHit Debuff? Both effects seem to be relatively lackluster even after slotting out. This power seems to be a jack of all trades, master of none. It does damage, stun (hold), and to hit debuff, but none of it all that great...can someone fill me in here? Thinking of pumping slots into PPP hold for a legit, stackable hold.

The main purpose of seeker drones is as a sacrificial pet to take the alpha strike. That being said the -to hit and -damage debuffs are pretty useful so I recommend a bit of -to hit slotting along with recharge. The stun is not particularly useful.

That's what I thought. If anything, I would slot out -to hit as well. Even slotted out with Dark Watcher you get about -7.5% to hit per drone, which is nothing great. The best part here is the -20% DMG and the ability to take an alpha, IMO.

EDIT: Is each drone -10% or -20% DMG? In Mids, on the info tab for the power, it says -5% to hit. If you go to effects, it says -10% to hit. So, it makes me think that the Info tab is per drone, while the Effects tab is the "whole power" (i.e. both drones). So, the Effects tab says -20% DMG. Can someone confirm if this is PER drone or you get the -20% for the "whole power" (both drones)? Because I read a guide on here that says it is -40% DMG...thanks!

easy enough to check yourself in game.

your [traps.seeker drones] in to any chat window and look up the effects there. Im pretty sure its -20% dmg per drone though.

I've leveled Bots/FF to 50 and found I needed the Medicine Pool to keep my bots healed. How are you managing to keep your bots healed with just Repair?

Your seeker drones with your protector bot seeker drones can take a big chunk of damage potential out of spawns. I totally concur with Adeon on this one. The expendables take the first hit, which is always a good thing.

As a bots/FF you should be able to bring all the bots defense to melee, ranged, AOE to 45% at that point they won't be taking much damage to begin with.

I'm curious what people are using for an attack chain for Bots/Traps. I'm guessing this will vary slightly depending on whether or not you're opening up with Seeker Drones and whether or not you're tanking.

Don't know if I'd call it an attack chain, but here's how I play.

1) Seekers summoned on edge of crowd(optional if you're steamrolling)
2) Move into middle of crowd and drop poison gas trap.
3) Drop acid mortar.
4) By this time most of the crowd will be choking and some will be held because of the %chance to hold proc. (lockdown?) Your pets have probably followed you into the crowd and are starting to attack.
5) If there's a thick concentration of mobs I'll toss caltrops.
6) Toebomb a tripmine on the feet of the biggest crowd or whoever looks toughest.
7) Everything is probably 3/4 dead by now, let the pets clear up the stragglers.

Superspeed is a bad idea in combat, you can severely outdistance your FFG in about 3 seconds with SS.

If you're fighting an EB etc. spam web-nades, they do -recharge as well as immob.

If you/your team are in trouble it's too late to lay a triage beacon. Get a feel for what you can handle and lay it early if you think there might be trouble. You're probably built for recharge, it'll be back soon.

On a team, I won't stay to polish off stragglers, I'm quick to move into the next crowd. If you don't drop PGT/acid mortar into the middle of a big crowd it's hardly worth the setup time. Make the brute/tank race you.

Similarily, if you're doing an ITF or whatever and you know an ambush is about to spawn, step back from the crowd and position yourself in a likely spot to intercept the ambush. They'll be running towards you and when you drop PGT/acid mortar they'll bunch up tightly. When the rest of the team arrives to help you'll have everything herded and debuffed, easy picking for whatever AOE madness the rest of the team can throw.
