I havnt watched serenity - I really should some time.

I have had the "time" to watch the above mentioned River, I'd almost have to put her at DP/Dev though the single target confuse using a kiss is awesome.

I really like how they interweave the Song of this second River though out the episodes.
  2. I see another patch with no notes as of the moment.

Logged on, decided to change costumes and the whole client hard locked.
  3. For me, I have two 24" monitors, both Samsung, one is 1920*1200 the other 1920*1080.

IMO the 1920*1200 is worth it. I like it much better. The extra desktop space while slight is noticeable. After all your computer can be doing COH *all* the time.

As for the suggestion it will bog down your GPU, It isnt that much more pixels. Worse case scenario you play the game in windowed mode which takes a band away top and bottom from the rendering space. I play in windowed mode just so HeroStats can put its overlay on screen with the vista/7 driver model.

Keep your old monitor and use it as extra desktop space. You'll be happy you did.

Display port is supposed to be nice and better clarity, and able to run much larger resolutions then 1920*1200 with one cable/port. The next question being does your GPU even have a display port out?

Having a hub in the monitor can be nice for some items like web cams, for me it isnt a critical feature though.
  4. I dont care how or why. DO IT NOW. I want a character that has the quantum weapon. I want to be able to fire off those quantum bolts.
  5. Thanks,

How big of a room can I make? Do the rooms have to use one tiny little door? Can I have multiple large doors, maybe on all four sides sorta turning the room into columns?

It's gona be some time before I have the prestige saved up and fiddling might cost me money so to speak.

My system has three mac addresses. Thats without me doing anything.

Gold farmers are annoying and irritating, however compared to what I have dealt with playing other games COH has it pretty easy.

I have yet to need to walk over a pile of corpses spelling out gold-spammer messages or other gimmicky stunts here.
  7. Earth would be easy enough. Projectile based, with out the need for a weapon, conjuring/creating minerals and firing them at mobs. Take the Rifle set and mix in a toss of earth control.

Water really already exists. Not as tinted power, but as Ice. Frozen water is still h2o.

One aspect of air, and a common form for it to deal damage in many fantasy games is lightning.

So that really just leaves earth, if you dont mind using lead as your projectile you might almost say that exists already too.

I'd like to see an elemental set. In the light of making a veat for each origin, science could be the 5th/council warwolves/vampires and magic could have an elemental blaster (caster). Using the switch ammo tech from DP the various powers in the set could be set up to animate and use the secondary affects of each element.... fire = dot, water = slow, air = sap, earth = slow?

The t9 power could summon an elemental pet, choose between 3 imps, stony, 2 gremlins or something for water.

Each with its pros and cons.
  8. I just wish realigning my Blue side people to be able to run this arc and then fixing them didnt take so long. patron pool access can be very nice for some characters.

On the other hand I am glad and happy I *can* realign my peoples to take advantage of the additional power pools. In my little head, I of course think of my character as tricking that evil person into giving my the secret of their powers rather then going with doing ebil acts and eating the hearts of virgins while foreclosing on widows and orphans to taint my soul with the blackest of magics out of pure greed and lust for power.

Ya know, whatever lets me sleep at night.

The Vigilante to Villain tips are kinda dark and creepy. I dont know I liked running them all that much.
  9. If you have a power pick to spare you could grab tactics and put it in there. The end drain for tactics is fairly small and it will be up much more often. All depends on your build.
  10. The kind of support many of my characters seem to like the most is +recovery. Sb is the obvious, RA and AM also do wonders. I seem to like to make End pigs. The cardiac alpha has done wonders for some of my people.

For the two characters I have that dont really need +recovery, that is, my stalker (elec/elec) and one of the two builds on my Kheld (Tri-PB), hmmmm, well the stalker anything that boosts his damage output, +dam + acc or debuffs on the mobs and anything that makes him tougher (which is mostly +def + regin). I suspect a bubbler could make my stalker nigh invulnerable. He does pretty good on his own buffs just make him better and better.

My Tri-PB is fairly self contained, cosmic balance gives him a lot on a big team. Last Apex he ran he got smacked out of the air like a bug a few times so +def +res (back to bubbles) would help him. +Recharge really helps his damage output, more so in dwarf then Nova, +recharge gets Photon Seekers up for the mini-boom and dawn strike up for the big boom more often as well.

My other build for the PB is still mostly SO's and needs a whole lot of +recovery work to be functional, I likely need to get his +def to melee over 30% as well. (at least for solo on a team the +res from cosmic balance usualy gets him to 85% res all)

My elec/elec Dom is also pretty self sufficient, he has less end issues the more mobs he is fighting. Being able to fill up the end bar by hitting Dominatrix mode helps too. His damage while not uber or awesome does well enough. Damage and stun procs in most of his abilities really round things out. I'd say the biggest help for him is -res -def on spawns like Storm and Rad can do (as well as some others). + acc for his sleep and sap fields is nice too. The more they hit the more chances they have to stun and damage as well.
  11. I have my own shiny new SG, loaded with my Virtue alts and those of two friends.

I already see it will be some time before I have the resources to build what I would like.

What is the differences between the two types of plots? Other then cost that is.

If I wanted to do a park like area with a few buildings in it could I? Could I just make it one giant room? Put grass and trees all over the place and some of the required equipment in the middle? (Magic themed of course) Kind of a temple in the park/garden theme to the base?

Or am I required to use rooms and make them all interlock in some silly pattern like I have seen in the few bases I have visited?

    Thanks
  12. I was doing a red side tip with my stalker. I had a freak tank spawn called learn to read or some such, I whacked him and used placate at which point he ran off at high speed, going straight for one of the mission objective crates I needed to burn the books by destroying and well, destroyed it.

Was funny. He spawned to stop me burning his books and when I hid he got so mad he burned them. Or maybe it was spite? You cant burn them if I do it first.

After he took out that one offending crate he just stood there till I decloaked with an assassins strike delivering several hundred thousand volts to his head.

    Severe lag

I have read a few posts like this. I believe a repair operation has fixed some of this for others.

Another question, are you using compatibility mode within vista or 7?
  14. My recent experience with scapperlock is from the other side.

I was on an ITF with three tanks and a brute.

All of which were doing there own thing (randomly and chaotically), no one was keeping agro and the rest of the team had to pretty much stand back and wait due to so many mobs (spawns really) running around looking for the least excuse to go psycho on the next person they saw.

Its like fine, I'll just hover above and give out leadership/dispersion field/buffs, tired of summoning bots over and over. Never got so much use out of PFF on a team before.

Speaking as a player of multiple /Storm toons, sticking two recharges in tornado plus the 4 unique pet IO's will keep it useful.

Depending on the Alpha slot choice the two slots could go to damage or recharge.

I suspect some players may well just slot it with the four IO's and never use it as well.

In a team setting Tornado can be an iffy power to use. It depends if you or another player is spamming an aoe -kb power and if the party is pretty much all ranged/single target or not. Solo Tornado really shines. Getting two out is even better.
  16. I've picked up my master mind again, just got him to 50 last night. 'Bots/FF.

He used to be less hassle and more fun to play.

Seriously has any person from Cryptic even acknowledged the pet AI bug and mentioned it might possible be fixed some year?

I did an ITF, which got me from 49-50 and there was more then one occasion where all my Bots decided to run up and stay in melee range for a cyst. Thats insane. Not only does it frustrate me by having to pointlessly re-summon them, they get in the way of other players.

I would even be willing to completely give up the pathetic little back-hand attack they have just to keep them at range.

The Soldier bots seems the most likely to do it, that may just be because there are three of them, I have however watched my Protector and Assault bots do the same stupid thing. They are ranged based pets what is the problem?

Anyhow, any information or a work around handy?

    Thanks

    Input Lag

I have been watching it, it seems to come and go. I see it mostly when the servers are more busy. I am wondering if it is a side affect of the merged market system.

As of yet, I have not had any problems with entering my password and user ID.

On another note, I had been using compatibility mode for XP sp 3 to make the 3d sound work. I discovered this had some severe affects on my FPS and usability of the game. Some abilities in certain colors would stall me to under 1 fps.

I will watch and see if the input lag also goes away now that I am no longer using compatibility mode.

It is pretty clear that we have looked at the same thing and come to differing conclusions. We can quote rhetoric and so called proofs at each other all day and in the end it wont accomplish or prove anything.

Neither of us is in a position to prove what we are saying. You can not say for absolute certainty that goods on the market are not being cornered. I lack the data to prove it is.

Like the OP I am done with the discussion.

    City of Prudes

This thread just reminded me, or the costume in question did, that I recently picked up 'Heavy Metal' and its squeal at wally world for $10 a few weeks ago and should get to watching it. I have seen pieces here and there over the years but never the whole thing.
  20. What is your monitors max resolution? I took a quick look at your log and saw "Blank."

Have you installed your monitors driver? I know monitor drivers are usually pointless, they do sometimes fix windows not know what res the monitor works with.

I have a few procs that dont seem to be going off.

Sadly there is no easy way to see them.

Is there a list somewhere of IO/text in log showing it proced?

The dev team seems to rely on users to /bug not working IO's but has not put any easy way to track them down into the game.

    nVidia Optimus

I just did a little reading on the Nvidia Optimus.

It seems it is the same fusion/hybrid technology they came out with and abandoned a few years ago.

The intel graphics are supposed to take care of 2d/basic graphics at a much lower cost in energy giving a longer battery life.

When 3d graphics are engaged then the hardware is supposed to switch rendering to the much more powerful and capable nvidia silicon.

Just as a random thought, have you tried using both the new and old launchers? I am guessing what is happening is the launcher is a 2d app that hands over to a 3d app and things are quite getting the need to switch from intel to nvidia.

I wonder if there is a way to flag the launcher as 3d or to create a 3d app to do the launching?

    Nvidia info: http://www.nvidia.com/object/io_1265444450529.html

Thread re: optimus not working for game X :http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=189894

In reading the above thread there seems to be an nvidia supplied tool (probably part of the driver package, check the nvidia control panel) for which you can list a given .exe to be forced into 3d mode.
  23. An easy enough test:

Put in 500 bids for item X at say 250 inf.

Drop 500 of item X into the market, at 200 inf, pretty much all at the same time.

    See how many you get.

Of course, last I checked there were over 15k bids in for alchemical silver. Sounds like someone, or a group of someones, has decided to corner it to me.

Read about the Hunt brothers. They didnt try to control production, they tried to control what was available on the market.

Further the supply of any salvage in this game is not infinite, unless you consider people to be playing an infinite amount of time.

Sadly the people who can answer this with facts, eg data mine who is buying and selling and in what quantities are not speaking up.

Something else I havnt seen mentioned, this game like many others has gold farmers. A simple and easy web search will provide you proof of that.

Known fact: people will do anything to make money.

How do we know that a gold farming operation hasnt purchased 50-100 accounts, filled all their character slots and has a few people actively working said characters 24/7.

It would certainly be less work and more efficient then paying people to grind influence.

In game it is impossible to get a monopoly on production of Alchemical Silver. Anyone who wants to can go out and run a mission against a suitable enemy group and create alchemical silver (or use AE tickets to do so even more easily).

Even if you leave standing bids to try and buy up any new supply all someone has to do it bid 1 higher than you to break the monopoly.

I haven't seen any evidence of it. I tend to get a relatively even spread of salvage although due to different rates of consumption the stuff I have on hand tends to be mostly the low value stuff (gee, I wonder why?).

    10 items.
I saw prices today for alchemical silver over 500K.

It may, or may not, be possible for a single individual to tie up the supply consistently, it would be very easy for a SG or small group to do it.

With the merged market, were I to have each server full or nearly full of alts, parked them each at the AH and set bids for item X, I could have what 160 bids out per character?

Delete a lot once of twice a day resell some at gouge level pricing, ya it could be easily done.
