Psiphon,
Which Brutes can cap their resistance solo on SOs? Maybe to one damage type, but they can hardly do that to many damage types like Tankers can. Not that I think that Brute resistance cap couldn't be lowered to 85%, but to say that Brutes (especially as a whole) can cap their resistances solo on SOs is just wrong. Unless you're counting in Tier 9s, which are hardly perma, especially on SOs.
Invulns: With Tough can get to 70.2% S/L Resistance, 23.4% to elements and energies
Fire: 52.65 to S/L, 35.1 to E/NE, over cap to Fire, 23.4 to Cold
Electric: 58.5 to S/L/F/C, over cap to Energy, 40.95 to Psy, 35.1 to Neg Energy
...etc. Basically, they can sometimes get to the cap against certain damage types only, but fighting anything that doesn't use that damage type they are definitely worse off than Tankers. -
If you need more slots, steal them from Permafrost and Chilling Embrace. Permafrost is a oneo or two-slot wonder. It's a great place for the +Def IOs, but adding more resistance doesn't help all that much (you're already capped to cold, and Fire resistance in that power is only 12.5% anyways. It's a good backup power, but slotting it won't noticeably improve your fire resistance. You can probably get the Fire/Cold defense back from putting those slots in better places, anyways.
Chilling Embrace needs about an EndRed in it, and you're good. I've found that slotting it for slows can actually hinder you if you ever do need to herd a bit, as the mobs just run too slowly to get where you need them to go. -
I think the problem with some of them is that they give you more of what you already have, and that's not always useful. An SR/ Tanker can get to the soft-cap for Defense easily. Why have a T9 that gives you even MORE Defense?
I would think that a decent change to them would be to give the Resistance-based sets a Defense T9, and vice-versa. But of course that would hit the cottage rule square in the face. -
Most people make their money by selling things at the auction houses (Wentworths hero-side, Black Market villain-side). You can make a lot of money selling high-priced items there. However, if you're a free player, or a premium player without that level of access, then it will be tough the first time through getting money for enhancements that you need right off the bat.
I will say, however, that as you gain levels, you'll find yourself able to buy SOs with just enough money, and then further on you'll have more than enough money to buy the next level SOs. So it does get easier even if you're just doing normal content.
Or, you can turn off XP, and play through content. Then you'll just gain influence.
Or, if you're lucky, one of the nice forum goers will send you some cash. -
Really the only thing keeping me from making a KM toon is the stupid CS animation. I'd love an alternative animation that is more like Energy Transfer than the current "I wave my arms back and forth" one.
-
Please don't change Hoarfrost. I like being almost at the HP cap all the time.
-
The look reminds me of the doll from 9, as well.
-
-
The cooldown starts at the END of the animation, not the beginning. So if an attack has a 10 second recharge, and a 3 second animation, the cycle time for the power is 13 seconds.

Quote:Pretty much ^This. However, in terms of mechanics, Absorb is just like Dull Pain, except that it can STACK with Dull Pain.Dull Pain becomes your current hit point bar. You regenerate your hit points based on a percentage of the total number.
Absorb is a new bar that overlaps your current one. Absorb takes the damage first and once destroyed is gone. You can not regenerate Absorb hit points. They can be recast but not regenerated.
In other words:
Dull pain - Someone slaps you - you choose to block out the pain.
Absorb - Someone slaps you - but you have a piece of cardboard taped to your shoulder. The cardboard falls off after taking the blow.
So, let's say you have a character with Dull Pain, and you can have it up perma. So you're sitting pretty close to, or at, your respective HP cap. You have a Cold Domination character on your team, and he hits you with Frostwork. You barely notice the difference, because you were already close to the HP cap as it was (if you were at the cap, you gain no benefit at all).
Now, you get someone to give you +absorb. So you're sitting at the HP cap, and you STILL get the benefit of more effective health. So you can gain more HP than the cap would otherwise allow.
Also, if I were to give Absorb to Regen, I'd put it in Integration. I would make it a fairly low level of Absorb, but I'd make it work like Blaster's new Chilling Embrace, where it reapplies every few seconds, allowing Regens to basically shrug off a few minor attacks every once in a while. -
I always get the feeling that /Pain would be even better on a Controller. But alas, they do not have it yet.

Ulimus,
This might have been better if you had taken the references out to whatever other post you were referring to. Without seeing the whole thread, this is really confusing. -
Is it sometimes a bit harder for me to get a name now then when the game first came out? Sure. Do I think we need a name free-up? Only if, as others have said, it's just from banned accounts. Do we need a name wipe? No, not at all.
So I have to put more effort into naming characters. That usually makes them better in the end. -
Quote:Nope. Not really sure what he's talking about. Not sure what you talking about. The only aggro modifier I know about are the inherent taunt modifier (that is the same for both ATs) and Threat Level (that is 4.0 for both ATs.)
Was something revealed I don't know about while I was away? -
If you're looking for very bad singers to perform this for a video, I will gladly volunteer. I make no apologies for any bleeding eardrums caused by such action, however.

Be a Storm/Psychic Defender with the speed pool. Tornado, Psychic Tornado, and Whirlwind! Tornadoy goodness!

Quote:While I would definitely love more ancillary pools, especially for the ATs that have thematic holes where they don't need to, I don't really feel there's a need to open them up sooner than they already do. If anything, maybe another three levels earlier, in case it's the tier 9 of your primary that's a stinker and not your secondary. But earlier than that I think ruins the point of using them to fill in holes in your AT. If you can fill in the holes early in your career, what's the point in having holes?Maybe now that Pool powers got a pass, Epic/Tertiary pools can get an overhaul.
Namely, expanding on their depth and the number of them for each AT, expanding on the concepts/themes they cover (like letting melee ATs have gun attacks now that Blasters can do martial arts).
Also, I'd love if they would lower their level requirements so they're more integrated with your build instead of an afterthought that doesn't come into play until you're almost 50. In other words, treat them more like a true Tertiary power set that's relatively as important as Primary and Secondaries.

Well, not necessarily broken, but the shuriken attacks costs about the same as other ancillary attacks, but have absolutely no secondary effect to go with them, making them rather inefficient powers to use.
The whole pool is kinda a bust. The attacks have no secondary effects, web grenade versus ring of fire is no contest (or any immob that does damage, especially on a Scrapper), Targeting Drone is pretty weak on Scrappers for a decently high End cost, and Caltrops is Caltrops. Basically, the whole Weapon Mastery pool is a bit lackluster, and any other option would be a better choice. -
Hmmm...not exactly sure if we know exactly when this happened, or even if there's a guesstimate for this. However, I would say to never trust a ghost for information about dates and times. They probably have a different perspective on that kind of thing.
"The early 20th century" is probably too early for him to have been active. I would hazard a guess that it was probably a much more recent thing, happening in the early 21st century, maybe right before the first Rikti invasion.
Edit -> If the Hamidon created the Devouring Earth, and the DE captured and killed the Woodsman, it must have been a more recent event. Dr. Hamidon only turned himself into a goo-monster fairly recently in the game world. -
-
Maybe we can take this opportunity to fix Exploding Shuriken in the Ancillary Pools. Pretty please?
-
A dominator might give you the flexibility that you need for something like this, too. Many of the primaries, secondaries, and ancillary pools can represent the four forms of matter you've chosen.
Liquids: Ice Control, Ice Assault, Ice or Leviathan Mastery
Gasses: Gravity or Dark Control might work with the right coloring. Psionic Assault. Psychic Mastery or Mace Mastery (if you just use Scorpion Shield to represent localized wind fields that deflect attacks).
Solids: Earth Control or Plant Control. Earth Assault or Thorny Assault.
Energy/Heat: Pretty much everything else. -
Well, to be honest, I was glad to have a Tank along last night instead of a Brute. Had a team of 3 Blasters, myself (a lowbie Traps Defender), and a Tanker going up against +3 to the team leader Rikti. Since we had little defensive support besides my little FFG, the Tanker almost died several times, but didn't. If he had been a Brute, I am sure he would have died several times due to the lower resistance and defense numbers that he would have had.

Well, then maybe you should stop making blanket statements that you can't back up? Or posting opinion as fact?
I see a LOT of teaming going on, and almost none of it is Radio missions.
