I was on a team with a Dark while I was on my Cold. It was awesome.
  2. If you are looking still at a non-tradition farmer, there are other builds that still work without caving into making a Fire/kin. I have a Fire/kin. Fire/kins are overrated.

My question regarding those people that have experienced elec/kin is do you think they can satisfy someones need for wanting a farm toon, being that I haven't experienced playing as a fire/kin?
Again asking this because I really really like a superhero having electricity powers more then fire and have a theme for an elec toon whereas I don't really have one for a fire toon.
Also, how much slower are elec/kin to fire/kin you think?
I'm not looking to be a crazy build. probably farm like +1 or +2 x6 mobs. Just something to get money rolling in faster then it is right now.
Again thx very much for everyones input. I know I should just give in and make a fire/kin, but thx for being good spirited about my situation haha.
Sigh. I have a lowbie Elec/kin and I even got asked in game if it's a good farming toon. No, it's not a good farming toon. It would be comparable to farming with an Ice/kin, or Earth/kin and nobody sane really farms with them. In others words, you will likely give up out of boredom. Elec has minimal ways of doing damage so even when you are damage capped, there just isn't enough to dish out in a reasonable fashion. The pets will only get you so far.

I'l explain it another way as showing my Fire/kin is so good. The biggest source of damage is Hot Feet. Now, run with damage capped Hot Feet and then factor in containment which doubles the damage and ignores the damage cap. Elec has none of that. Also note that even if it's aura could be given damage procs that Fulcrum would do nothing in terms of boosting the damage of those procs.

I think handclap should do light/medium/moderate damage.
If they add AoE, Foot Stomp gets put in line with other PBAoEs. SS may only have one AoE, but it's a mightily broken one.

Even at the levels before cold gains offensive boosting abilities it is still easily on par with FF from a mitigative standpoint as long as the player is using their abilities.

The only way I wouldn't prefer the Cold is if the user picked some garish over-bright color for the ally shields. Then again, Dispersion can be made fairly ugly too.

The other exception would be on something like Synapse TF with heavy end drainers. However, late game end draining enemies I'll still prefer cold as HL does a good enough job keeping everyone full most of the time, plus you have the rest of superior cold helping out.
+1. The only TF/Trials where FF could outshine Cold is the Posi TF and Cavern Trial because Cold wouldn't have Sleet.

Both instances: You don't know he's soft and HP capped since you haven't asked and he hasn't said, so no saying "but I wouldn't buff him".
"but I wouldn't buff him" is a different answer to a different question. What benefit do they get? The tank with a Cold wins out in the end. Period. [/thread]. A FF defender can soft cap a team. So? Do you really need to be soft capped? No, you don't. I'll take a Cold over an FF somewhere between 9 and 10 times out of 10.

P.S. I have a /ff controller. I would like to get it to 50 some day, but I simply have too many alts to focus on it enough to get it there.

On the plus side, as a WP tanker, you'll literally never die.*

*The same could apply to a WP brute, depending on what difficulty level you solo at.
    1. +1 on the brute pick. For a solo tank I would want something with more AoE. As mentioned, the lack of AoE in KM until late and no damage aura will make it for slow going.
    2. Saw a KM brute with the cone power and I just shook my head. He had like 5-6 attacks, one armor and the mez toggle.
    3. Just a wee bit overblown on the never die statement. Stone with Granite is the only thing that I would consider nearly unkillable. And yes, I have seen Granite tanks die. Rarely, but it can happen.

This is all you need to know She was a nobody Christian singer(let that sink in) and then got lucky to stumble into people who know how to package her in a mass appeal kind of way. She is more of a studio creation than Britney. Kathy Perry singing live is outright painful to listen to. Even as much as I think Taylor Swift sort of, but not really sings, Kathy Perry is just...no.
  9. Starting out with Tony being hungover and throwing up would have been a horrible tone to start the movie off with.

Against better judgement, I went and made my Claws/dark. A team was looking for a brute(uh oh), but I asked for invite if they had room. After I got on a the team they even asked if I was a brute(oh boy, they want a tank type and I'm level 1). Once I saw the rest of the team I saw why. 7 brutes and 1 tank. Best Praetoria team yet. I stayed up too late, but got to 10 anyway so now I can mule the character via e-mail.

If you play a melee focused squishy they can be hell to take on though when you are on a team. My Kin/elec hates Nemesis more than any other mob.

I think this was one of my slight errors I did in earlier builds. Even if you just four slot it 1 acc, 3 damage, at least put something in there besides an acc.

  14. I'm having one go through it just to get a feel for it. I'm having at least one other go through for the actual content. I'm not sure what the story is for some of the missions, but there are some that come across as badly done on a large scale missions. I wasn't the leader so I have no clue that the real story was, but simply facing a string of bosses in an arc, and repeatedly only one single boss with nothing else in a mission just comes across as lazy. Praetoria as a whole gets a big thumbs up for me. I was walking around and going, "This place needs 50 levels of content."

    Team quit rant

I think I can count the amount of times I've quit during a mission on one hand. Usually it has to be a rather significant reason. Even if I want to quit, I'll stick it out for the end of the mission for the rest of the team. I can't recall quiting a TF. Back in the day before speed TFs became all of the rage, I would plan out at least 2-3 hours for any TF I was on. Even when the team I'm on wants to speed through them, I still plan to be doing the TF for some time.

With the talk about Claws/fire on the brute forum I went and got the urge to roll a Claws brute just to see. I was impressed with it even if I just went a couple of levels. I did do /dark because I'm not sure I can handle /fire being the squishiest of the secondaries. Of course, I didn't really keep it since I was really just trying to give my Kin/sonic a new look and decided it looked better on something different. I have too many alts, so I caved to rolling a couple new ones as is. I'm still not playing all the sets I want to try out, but if I could squeeze a Claws/dark in there I would. I already got the look for it. If I could find a name for something I always roll it for no other reason then to have the name.
  17. Oh, and since this is about finding a non-traditional farmer, Dark armor could also be used since it has a damage aura. It's end heavy, but that's in vast part due to the heal.

SS is good because Foot Stomp has a recharge time of 20 seconds. Lightning Rod's recharge time is 90. Will Elec/fire be good? Yes, just not as good as SS/fire. If fire power sets don't work for you, again, I suggested a SS/shield. If you can't find a look/concept for that....
  19. It's not really "new" it if was released 3 months ago.

Because DN out of the box is better than anything shield has at that point. Add in a good heal and Dark is out of the box awesome.

Just wait until end game content comes from Praetoria and we are using incarnate levels to make up for it. Granted I spent all of one play session there, but lowbie teams struggled mightily and it took a team around 20 to make it smoothed out more. The lowbie teams partly struggled due to some painfully newbie players as well.

Actually, it was more that he went to the head. Drago was so tall people went for his stomach only to find out it was a no win situation. Once Rocky starts going up top it he completely turns the tide. Oh, Drago still beats Lange though.

The mixture of resistance, regen, and small amount of defense found in /WP seems to be "just right". For my tastes, anyway. At all levels so far (up to 30 now), my Kat/WP was far smoother and stronger overall than my Claw/Regen. I'll miss the range and utility of Focus, but I won't miss anything else.
It was smoother because you have DA. Does /regen give me a feel that it's a beta tested as a voodoo doll? Yes it does, but using Kat as your primary isn't exactly a proper comparison when dealing with different secondaries.

    TA/Archery

The short version. It's still a defender. Defenders can take out x8 mobs, but they are doing it at a lower level than what the better options are doing it at.
  25. SS/shield brute will work as well just because Footstomp is that good. SS/fire brute is likely the #1 brute option. A Claws/fire brute will be good as well because Spin is a rather good AoE.
