But I can see where people would rather smile and nod because culture has dumbed down things to the point where it's okay to ignore canon.

    Let me ask you this:

If CoH totally broke canon and rewrote the entire thing to the point where it was nothing like we've learned, would you be happy? Or should I just say, "Hmm.. you've played for 5 years and pumped your money into this product... too bad! They aren't making this for you anymore... it's now marketed to a whole new demographic. Get over it."
Technically, they've already done this (in true comic book fashion) with the Flashback issue, Praetoria and to a degree with Cimerora.

As with the new generation of Joes, Autobots, Trons and Myers'; they don't replace their canons, they co-exist with them.

It's like Hollywood is catching up with the 'What If..' trend from the 80s.

Not sure what exactly you mean by "in Talos lots of instances where npcs (foes) disappear, reappear at some distance away or right in front of you or jus disappear altogether". Running it by our designers and they're unfamiliar with what you describe as well. One of them was playing in Talos just yesterday and didn't see anything like that. We might need more information about what you're seeing.

I've heard multiple reports about issues with doors. I can't fathom what might have changed that makes them no longer functional, but I'm looking into it. Problem seems to be inconsistent, which means it's much much harder to pin down the cause. I'm also unclear on whether these are doors inside instanced missions, or doors to enter buildings/missions.

    This comment is totally unnecessary.

About the 'winking' NPCs... it's like the rubberbanding issues that players were having with their characters; now applied to NPCs.

The NPCs start from point A and on their way to point B, they appear to wink out momentarily (one or more times) before finally ending up at point B.

Sometimes, you can actually see the 'snapping' of the rubberband effect (placing the NPC outside of it's intended trajectory before getting snapped back into it's intended course)
  3. Opinion question; do you feel that VS should be treated and slotted as a pet or in a similar fashion to powers like Gun Drone?

IMO, leaning towards Gun Drone treatment being that that's how VS plays; a mindless 'follow-only' tool that doesn't buff and isn't targetable like regular pets (even though other psuedo pets tend to be targetable).
  4. I think we're caught up on all of the MM powersets and a majority of pet powers; will continue to update as time and desire permits.

    I16 Closed Beta

Since all of the Dark sets are becoming customizable; can that actualization of that customization be ported to the Dark Shield in the Shield Defense set?

Currently; no matter what you do with the color settings of the 'Dark' Shield; it remains a purplish-black mass.

    CoX Lite?

Even if this isn't an appealing or competitive enough idea to implement...

...can the System Requirements be verified so that both the Minimum and Recommended SRs can be updated if needed?

Dark Miasma/Dark Servant (all versions): Fixed a bug that caused this power to state that it would accept Recharge Intensive Pet enhancement sets. Since this pet cannot be slotted for damage, it should never have been able to accept these types of enhancements.
Fluffy does damage just like any other pets of it's kind... it should be allowed to slot for damage and appropriate pet damage sets, IMO.

I'll add it to the list, thanks for pointing it out.
  13. What I am asking is as henchmen related as GW; summoning more henchmen.
  14. IMO, allowing MM Necromancy's Soul Extraction to work just like Warshade's Dark Extraction (as opposed to how it works now) would be both a thematic and functional improvement.

Primo would be allowing it to work both ways; on your pets, it summons the Spirit... against defeated foes; the Extracted Essence.
  15. Warshade - Sunless Mire/Black Dwarf Mire- Not taking ToHit Buff IOs or sets; Dark Extraction not allowing slotting for Slow IO sets

MM Merc - All pets not slotting Accurate Defense Debuff IOs/Sets; Spec Ops not slotting Accurate ToHit Debuff Sets; Soldiers (Medic) not slotting Healing IOs/Sets; Burst not allowed slotting for Accurate Defense Debuff sets

MM Necro - All pets (including Soul Extraction) not slotting Healing/Accurate Healing sets; all pets (including Soul Extraction) not slotting Accurate ToHit Debuff sets; Grave Knight and Lich not slotting Accurate Defense Debuff sets; Lich not slotting Hold or Immob sets; Soul Extraction not allowed slotting for Hold sets; Life Drain not allowed slotting for Accurate ToHit Debuff sets

MM Ninja - Jounin not slotting Accurate ToHit Debuff set or Accurate Defense Debuff set; Jounin not slotting Sleep, Confusion or Slow sets; Jounin allowed slotting for RunSpeed

MM Robotics - Protector Bots not allowed slotting for Healing, Accurate ToHit Debuff, Defense or Stun sets; Assault Bot not allowed slotting for Stun sets

Slotting disparity between Voltaic Sentinel and Lightning Storm

Controller (Earth Control) - Animated Stone not allowed slotting for Hold or Hold sets; Animated Stone not allowed slotting for Stun sets

Controller (Gravity Control) - Singularity not allowed slotting for Hold or Immobilize sets

Controller (Ice Control) - Jack Frost not allowed slotting for Hold or Slow sets

Controller (Illusion Control) - [***Phantom Army not allowed slotting for Knockback or Slow IO/Sets (possibly Endurance Modification IO/sets) - may be due to flavor names being used to dress up generic psi attacks?]; Spectral Terror not allowed slotting for Pet Damage or Pet Recharge sets; Phantasm allowed slotting for Flight

Controller (Plant Control) - Fly Trap not allowed slotting for Immob sets

Poison (MM) - Noxious Gas - Not allowed slotting for ToHit Debuff/Defense Debuff enhancements or sets; Poison Trap - Not allowed slotting for Hold enhancements/sets

Trick Arrow (MM) - Entangling Arrow not allowed slotting for Slow sets

Traps (MM) - Poision Traps allowed slotting for Slow enhancements

Storm Summoning (MM) - Hurricane not allowed slotting for Accurate ToHit debuff sets; Tornado allowed slotting for Accurate Defense Debuff sets; Lightning Storm not a Pet?

Force Field (MM) - Force Bubble not allowed slotting for Knockback enhancements or sets

Dark Miasma (all) - Not allowed for slotting for Damage enhancements or Pet Damage sets [WAI; but I contend that other low damage pets/psuedo-pets are allowed these slottings]; Darkest Night allowed slotting for Accurate ToHit Debuff sets
  16. Every once in awhile, I get knee-deep in a Mid's planning session and will find that powers that should be able to slot a particular IO (and it's corresponding set) aren't allowed to; at least not in the planner.

It would help to be able to consolidate all of these bugs and oversights into a single list that can be checked and verified to be bugs or as WAIs.

A good consolidation should allow for the Dev team to, hopefully, address the entire slotting issue in one fell swoop instead of making random spot fixes.
  17. The toon is still a lowbie, level 12 and it's, for the most part, a soloer.

I did put a lot of emphasis on recharge because it's fairly easy to build on Dark toons w/o sacrificing much at all (while boosting the tohit debuffs), it helps with stacking my debuffs and my hold and it helps keep my long recharge powers available; even w/o having to Hasten. (plus I'm kind of a speed junkie).

Clouded senses does this at less cost, fewer slots and is level maxed earlier than Positron's Blast .

    *

I also went for some defense to supplement the tohit debuffs; hence the 6 slotting of Clouded Senses in Twilight Grasp. (Funny thing is that I was going to ask about utilizing the last to slots for more healing power as opposed to having some added defense. I went with the defense because the passive recharge is set to where I can offset any big green numbers by HPS (if that makes any sense). Plus I have Fluffy.

But being that I would have some pretty decent controls; I could switch those two slots into something a bit more green.

    *

Fluffy, I'm holding on calling that my permanent slotting; I thought he could slot Clouded Senses as well (as part of a fix); I aslo figure that he uses his -tohit more than he uses his heal so that's what I would focus on for him.

I could drop one of the Recharge IOs from HT and move it over to Fluffy and give myself the same dilemma I had with TG; larger green numbers or more defense (if he can hold CS slotting).

    *

Having Soul Drain is dependent on if my rain powers get a damage boost for it (and Aim); if they do not, then I'll scrap one or both for a second Hold power.

I do like having Power Boost for my tohit debuffs; so I doubt that I'd venture out of the Dark Patron Set; at least not for this build. Hehe, I forgot that I could prep my combo (and normal combat) with it... could really nix the need for 6-slotted CS sets.

    *

I'm used to using HT as a debuffing tool and for assaulting huge mobs (like sharkhead miners) moreso than as a rez tool (I spend about 95% of my gameplay soloing).

Thanks for your input and btw, I always CTRL-C whatever I type in these forums... so if they do start acting wonky; then I can just paste it back.
  18. First off; costume (top, bottom) is cool; if we don't have it then we need it .

(Foreshadow is the Trainer in the Hollows)

Secondly, his 'off set'/one-sided pieces on both his shoulder and glove...

This is something that I would like to be able to do with my toons; have separate Right Glove/Left Glove, Right Shoulder/Left Shoulder (maybe even Right Boot/Left Boot) selection in the Character Creator.

  19. This is one of the builds I'm looking to get into. The emphasis, for this build, is on combat speed, debuffing and mob control.

I looking at pulling, as my 'big' combo:

Fearsome + Darkest + Tar Patch + Howling + Soul Drain + Aim + Ice Storm + Blizzard

The things I'm needing to work out:

    1. Is Hasten overkill given the amount of global recharge listed?

    2. In your opinion, between the tohit debuffs, fears and stuns... do I really need to push for more regular defense than I already have?

    3. I'm sitting on 2 unallocated slots; suggestions?

And the problem is I have never seen a good MM. Honestly, how CAN they be good I guess is what I'm getting at? All they can do is attack or not attack, they have almost no control over what their pets do, and the pets like to knock the crap out of a mob and send them flying. The only good thing they do is heal and buff.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Turn this around -

Have you ever played a mastermind? Past the mid-20s?

"All they can do is attack or not attack" is wrong. The entire secondary is devoted to buffing or debuffing.

"They have almost no control over what their pets do" is wrong. That would be a Dominator. Even without actually LEARNING binds and such, they have at least three commands pre-set on character creation that control pets.

"and the pets like to knock the crap out of a mob and send them flying" is sometimes, but not always true. Look at *all* the primaries. Zombies don't send anyone flying. Little in Mercs sends anything flying. Bots have knockback, yes. Ninjas don't send anyone flying all that often (if ever.)

You've run into some bad players. Put the blame where it belongs - on *them.* Not the AT.

(Edit - and yes, I'm saying this from playing both.)

hehe... that was going to be my next add-on for this thread.
  23. I was looking at rains like rain of fire, ice storm, blizzard, caltrops; most of which have a -spd component... maxed for damage and combined with aoe -res producers such as tar pit and acid mortar...

    looks good on paper.

Do BU powers actually affect the dmg output of these type of DoTs?

How do procs fire off on these? [nvm; found the Mini-Guide]
  24. DoT's sometimes get shrugged off as solid damage hitters against some Lts, Bosses and EBs (except, maybe, for the 15sec 'rains'); is this because of their regeneration rates?

How much would their regen have to be debuffed to allow DoT powers, like the rains, to have more than a trivial effect against these foes?
  25. [ QUOTE ]
    No thanks.

If they introduce a variable advantage to powers based on origin it will pinhole people into only picking certain origins to get the maximum benefit of their boosters. There is no need.

Also, many (if not most) of my characters are actually multi-origin (they have a mutation that is enhanced by technology, (hello, Positron), or they have a magical power that is weak so they use natural weapons and training to enhance it, or they are a dead mutant who was raised to undeath by use of scientific chemicals and magical rituals). The game doesn't account for this kind of thing in any way, therefor Origins should never be tied into bonuses for powers and game mechanics.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There are already temps and vet powers that do just this.

And pigeonholing is relative to how a person chooses to play the game.

Many (most) would buy all the packs and have/use all the powers indiscriminately so it really doesn't matter to this type of player. More than likely, it's the same player that rolls Magic toons just for the benefits of Apprentice Charm.

The true RPers would only buy/use Origin powers that fit their background(s) and probably shouldn't even care about the relative weightiness of the powers outside of their Origin(s). Especially being that the current incarnation of Origin Booster powers are already lopsided (even if the Tarot Buffs cannot be changed mid cycle).
