I think the problem here is that Kin on paper is the opposite of what a defender is suppose to be about. Defenders defend the team through support and generally this is done through mitigation and debuffs. While Kin has mitigation and debuffs, there is only two that are AoE based and nobody really cares too much about the AoE debuff when what they really want is the buff part of it. Kin is vastly a defender through offense. In terms of American football, it's not smash mouth, or even a pro style offense. It's pure a pure pistol, run and gun, or spread offense. You throw so much at the target that the target simply feels overwhelmed, or from a defensive stand point maybe the 46 defense, or one that's just blitz heavy.
If somebody really like the defensive nature of Dark/dark, then playing a Kin can be a rather different playstyle to deal with and I fully understand if somebody doesn't "get" it. There are sets that I simply don't play because I don't "get" them either. Also note the sheer speed of the set forces a person to really think about if doing so much is really worth it from a bang for your buck standpoint. I have more times than I care to remember. It was a major point when I got burnt out from the set swearing to virtually never play the set again. It literally caused me mental anguish to even play the set. I took enough time away from it to play it again and I enjoy it. I think it's great set overall, but it's not for everybody. I think it's one of the few sets that really forces you to either like it, or not. -
Quote:LinkI've never heard the word 'database' used in regard to queries or anything else.
Quote:SQL (officially pronounced /ˌɛskjuːˈɛl/ like "S-Q-L" but often pronounced /ˈsiːkwəl/ like "sequel"),[1] often referred to as Structured Query Language[2][3] (however, there is some debate about its expansion[4]), is a database computer language designed for managing data in relational database management systems (RDBMS), and originally based upon relational algebra. Its scope includes data insert, query, update and delete, schema creation and modification, and data access control. -
Quote:You mean brass balls like Heidi Montag? She's not exactly Rosa Parks.Or, conversely, she had the guts to go to a Playboy shoot, then call the shots and hold a higher standard for herself and her expecting audience.
Consider the mental marketshare that she's got to command for Playboy to decide to go ahead and feature a cover model that ordered them around, and refused to do what Playboy Wanted.
Sorry to burst whatever bubble you thought you had, but pulling off what Olivia pulled off with Playboy? That girls got a brass pair. -
Quote:Did you actually watch the link I posted to the trailer for the show? I don't think there will be an issue of her being around funny/talented people. The show comes across as being devoid of anything being funny.Without these things she loses pretty much all the appeal that she has and on top of that she is being put on air with immensely funny people which makes her stand out as not funny/talented. The same will likely be said of her show, so she'll end up looking worse than she actually is...same way as on AOTS she looks way better than she actually is.

Quote:I remember hearing 3 as well I had thought. It's a big reason why I switched over. The original target of the series was six books. Also a nice tidbit of course GRRM target was three(Which in the series A Storm of Swords was my fav).
5 years between books. Endless rumors of it being near done and yet no book. Known health issues. At his current rate we are looking at a kind estimate of 15 years. He's 62 now. I'll hopefully assume he gets off his butt and finishes it and then kicks back and simply does editing for the Wild Card series and other stuff. I'm just saying that I and others are taking a wait and see approach in terms of this series being actually finished by him. -
You may want to load up on -1 type of missions, but with bigger mobs since you won't kill fast, but you have two credible AoEs.

Quote:I'm sure he did. I think I read the original target for books was 8. (looks at number of WoT books) Um, yeah. He went a wee bit past that. I remember when I started to get lost in the WoT series, Book 6 maybe. I read reviews about Games of Thrones and it was literally billed as for people tired of the WoT series.Did Jordan have an original target? It seemed like once the initial four book story arc was done he was content to go on forever.
I see GRRM as the antidote to Jordan. Yes, he's gone on one book more than he originally planned (so far), but at least you get the idea that he knows where his story is going and he isn't adding arbitrary new characters and plot lines like Jordan did.
WoT series is going to be so huge I wonder if a credible 8 book series could be made out of it, but I would be curious how it would read. I had never read anything over 1K in pages. For me to read a series with multiple books like that and keep track of everything was an achievement. It just got too much for me when the list of characters grew to where I started losing track of people and somebody who I thought was awesome in one book doesn't show up again until late in the next book and not for long and book 6 wasn't even that part where it really got bad for being long winded either.
I don't think fans of the Game of Thrones series really worry about the quality of the books. They just want them finished. I just went and looked it up. I know a singer/songwriter and author who has put out 3 albums, 2 albums of B-sides, and two novels since A Feast of Crowns came out. -
Saying she's not that hot is far too common on the internet versus reality. I know a girl who is similar in build, but wouldn't be deemed as attractive as Munn and I'll be damned if I was disappointed if I could get her to go out with me.

Quote:Same thing happened in the Wheel of Time series. The author got long winded and it extended beyond what was the original target number for books in the series. I believe the original target was 6 books, but it might have been smaller. Series is targeted at 7, but considering Martin's current pace and his health, this is major deja vu for WoT fans. The second novel was easily one of the best Fantasy novels I've ever read; fast-paced, cool characters, interesting world with intriguing politics.... then the 3rd one came out and it was just lame. The fourth one is easily one of the *worst* fantasy novels I've ever read. The series was a best seller by that point and apparently Martin's editors decided to just let him have his way, which was a huge mistake. I suspect the reason #2 is so good is because they made him tighten up the prose instead of just vomiting everything all over the page and repeating himself over and over again. He could've excised 400 pages from #3 without an issue.
That said, the story has good bones so the streamlining necessary for a televised adaptation can only improve it. Unfortunately, it seems like every character in that preview actually says what they're thinking and half the dialogue shown was completely on the nose. -
Quote:Logic has no place in a Bay film.I dont get it. So now we discovered the transformers back in 69 on the moon landings, and those from then just decided to chill out with popcorn on the moon and watch during all the action of the first two movies?
And yes, that was part of my thinking as well. So this big thing happens in '69 and yet it just sits there until now? It doesn't come after us? We don't come after it? Really? "But the movie hasn't explained it yet?" With what, Bay logic? -
Perfect Couples preview
Yeah, I think it's safe to say the show has little chance outside of it being put in between two solid shows. -
Is Munn moving up the ladder? Yes.
Does this mean she's any good? No. She has a long way to go before she stops looking out of place whenever I have seen her. -

Quote:So what's his excuse for his other movies with bad dialog? I actually liked the trailer until I started to use my brain. Funny how that works with Bay's movies.Even Bay admits that the script for RotF was all kinds of messed up thanks in part to the writers' strike, and for some reason they weren't allowed to tweak/refine it into something more palatable during production. As long as they put more focus on the TFs as characters this time out, I think this could be an awesome concept.

It's like graphic design. Some people know how to color the powers in the way that make the whole look cool. Others make me want to each out and smack them. I know when I reworked Elec control I had to change it because it was an issue of color overload.

Quote:To be honest as a Kin fanboy, I would want one Kin on the team, but that's really about it. After that it's pretty much pure debuffers. The -res is almost always better than the -regen, unless you're trying to solo them. It's actually why I didn't list Kinetics higher, since you're more likely to get a higher damage contribution from the multiplicative effect of -resistance as opposed to the additive effect of +dam.
Traps and Cold both do -resistance very well.
Defensively, I can see due to the stacked -damage. That's why I mentioned the set - and while I knew that the slow in Siphon Speed is flagged unresistable, I never bothered to try to quantify it so usually discount it entirely.
Offensively, see my comments above. -
And there's more to taking on AVs then -regen even if that seems to be the first and maybe only thing people talk about.

It's completely different than Ill/rad since Ill is more single target based on /rad is rather AoE based. Ill/rad is ranged base and Kin/rad is melee based. I would think Kin/rad would put up more numbers, but Ill/rad is going to be the better all-purpose build. Granted Ill/rad is likely one of if not the best all-purpose build the game has. Certainly with blueside default ATs. Kin/rad is very much the edge of the your seat type of playing due to low mitigation and high ability to grab aggro from the AoEs and being in melee. Me personally I like it a lot, but I have played Kin more than anything so it's hard to be unbiased.

And it made an epic sized $3.05 million at the box office this weekend. That means it made less than Jonah Hex, Dragonball Evolution, Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li and Punisher: War Zone. Let that sink in.

Kin for it's debuffs and buffs. Teams hardly seem to stroll through TFs these days. It's get it done and move on. Kin let's you do that the best. Rad, Cold, and Kin would be my top three in some order. /sonic is the ideal blast set.

Quote:From an end point of view I run a pre-i19 Staminaless Ill/emp. On my Elec/kin I made I didn't have any real end issues even without Stamina, SOs, i19.Funny you mention this Amy, I am seriously toying with making an alternate version of Biospark on another server as an Electric/Empathy controller. Would be very interesting to see how that would compare.
From a playstyle point of view, Elec control will be more melee based than even /elec due to the aura, but you also have better mitigation tools as well.
Initially Elec was the most fun set I had played since Claws. I think I have come down from that, but it's still a quality set. It's Ice like due to softer control, but I think it plays nicer on teams since Ice Slick is such a huge mitigation tool for Ice as where Elec can spread it around a little more. I would at least roll one and get it to 12. You get a feel of most of the bread and butter stuff by that point. AoE holds, and pets are pretty low in terms of ranking a power set. Yes, the Gremlins are lacking, but then pets are mostly stuff I cast and I go do my thing. -
One of the few sites I trust for reviews basically said it was a entertaining movie despite how horribly bad it was(boneheaded dialog, overacting to the point of embarrassment, cartoonish). Sounds like a good movie to have in my Netflix queue for when I might be stuck at home during the weekend. Probably add Ninja Assassin to make it a mindlessly violent and entertaining double feature.

If there was only a thread about this on the first page. If only...
