Quote:There are contacts (at least I think they are contacts) I have found on both sides that currently do nothing except talk to you. No missions, no "store" just a line or two when you click on them. It's possible that these could be the Rogue/Vigilante contacts when we're on the opposite side. Then what is the point of becoming a Rogue/Vigilante if no one trusts you enough to give you a mission? What options do I have as a rogue? Will there be new rogue contacts on both sides or will I rely onnewspaper/radio missions?
Also, there are missions marked solely for villains and for heroes, it's possible that only THOSE missions would be locked out for Rogues/Vigilantes. Meaning you could still get some missions from existing contacts, just not the ones deemed 'Hero/Villain Only'.
Then again, I could be completely wrong. We'll just have to wait and see. -
I would have ignored them after the "I'm here to play, not read" line. Then again, I hide from searches 99% of the time and don't get 99% of tells like this.
I will agree you did the right thing and were a LOT nicer about it than I likely would have been. -
Hmm, I actually have a toon named Face Planter, a lvl 37 plant/rad controller. Whether he wins or loses, someone gets face planted.

Quote:Sadly, this.Except for the fact that those rewards need teams and the event has been run so much that players have the badges and are burnt out and therefore aren't wanting to team as much for the events.
...as most of the zones in the game rarely see their banner event done after about the first week...
..an event few, if any, people are actually running....
Even before the patch was put in to increase the number of times the new event would spawn, I was having trouble finding people WILLING to do the event. Skip ahead a week and while there were a lot more events happening, there are even fewer people wanting to do it. Now in the last week here, I rarely if ever see anyone bothering with the banners and the 2 times I've actually gotten a team for them, it was just our team and a couple of stragglers who quickly gave up once they couldn't get on our (full) team. And I don't blame them.
I like the concept of the banners, but I think the requirements for the banners need to be dropped. Make it so that if you do any damage to them and are within a set area when one is defeated, you get credit for that banner. Leave the Aspect GM the way it is to encourage teaming, but at least more people would get credit for the banners and come away with something.
As far as the hunt missions go in zones that currently have events running in them, allow them to be dropped at no penalty to the player. If a player zones in with an active hunt mission and that zone is currently running an event (even a Rikti invasion) a box could pop up asking the player if they wanted to drop the hunt mission. For TF's the team leader would likely have to be in those zones to allow that, but it'd be a lot quicker than having to sit through an event to do a hunt only to possibly be slammed by another event as soon as the current one finishes. -
Quote:I know the first thing I'm doing when GR hits is say goodbye to villainside forever.Quote:
So why would anyone want to stay in Rogue Isles?
I've never ran a SF and I don't plan to. Then again, I haven't ran a hero TF in quite some time. I just don't have the time to do TF's/SF's in one sitting and I don't start something that team intensive unless I can finish it.
The villain zones are an eyesore and just not all that 'fun'. I'd rather (if there was actual content in the zones, mind you) level up in Perez, Boomtown, Dark Astoria or Crey's Folly than ever see Mercy, Sharkhead, Nerva or Grandville again.
Never saw what people find so great about villain arcs. All the ones I ran getting my Dom to 50 we painful and boring. Different strokes for different folks I suppose. If others enjoy them then great, they're just not for me apparently.
I generally am able to call contacts fairly quickly. At least compared to when CoH first hit and having to talk to even low level contacts until the bar was full to get a phone number was a PITA. These days it's fairly easy to get a contacts number quickly. There are too many "Go see/talk to..." type missions that hardly move the contact bar, (or some that don't move it at all) but that can be trouble on both sides.
I am disappointed that I can't start out a Brute or Dom in Galaxy City, but that I can even HAVE a Brute or Dom eventually be heroside is good enough for me.
As for the markets still being seperate, meh, no biggie for me. I generally just frankenslot my toons anyway and that's easy enough to do no matter what side you're on. And actually, I've found it a tad easier with the Black Market than with WW.
For those who say that for RP reasons the markets shouldn't be merged, has anyone who RP's ever thought that it would be very easy to RP WW/BM as the same company? WW/BM take in items on consignment, never have I read anywhere that these items needed to be obtained legally and considering the very nature of the BM, would seem to say that the items were NOT legally obtained. Who is to say (besides the Devs obviously) that "all" the items for sale at either WW or the BM couldn't have come from the opposing side?
Items on the BM could have been hijacked during transit or just plain old stolen from Wentworths and items at WW could have been confiscated from some bad guys stockpile. Seems realistic and makes sense, especially in a world filled with magic using, time traveling, dimension hopping, alien invaded SUPERHEROES!
So while I do support a market merge, (frankly, it does seem like a good idea to merge them) I won't complain if it doesn't happen. -
Hmmm, 60+ month vet and the things I haven't done. This could be a long list.
I've never done the Manticore TF. I've completed the other 5 'main' TF's (some of them more than once) but never a Manti. And as a result, I don't have TF Commander on any character.
I've never done any of the Shard TF's.
I've never done a Villain SF. I ran the first villain respec trial a couple of times (one success, one complete utter failure) and simply gave up on them. Not worth the headache one idiot can cause.
I've never finished the STF and have never tried the LRSF, ITF, LGTF, or the new 5th Column TF's. Been tough for me lately to commit to doing TF's because of some real life matters that need my attention quite often. I'm someone who actually won't make teams sit and wait on them. If I can't be there for the whole thing, I won't waste their time.
Never done the revamped Hami raid. Used to take part in the old-style (blue side) raids quite often.
Never purposefully unlocked any contacts villainside. It's happened before of course, but I've never gone out of my way to unlock them.
I've never created a character without a travel power. To those who do, you are far more patient than I am.
Never been able to find the "path" in Terra Volta to get to the reactor with a Super Speed character. Even after watching videos of others making it and actually following more than one person there. I just forget since I don't run the respec trials often. Thank heavens for the safeguard jump and fly packs.
I've never launched a Warburg rocket. PvP is just not for me and I avoid it as much as possible. Though I do go in for the the badges and the temp stealth powers on most of my characters. And on that note...
I don't whine about being attacked or defeated while badge hunting in a PvP zone. I knew the risk, I decided to take the chance anyway. If I'm attacked and can get away, I do. Otherwise I just let the other player kill me and continue on, after rezzing at the hospital.
I've never role played any of my characters, though most of them have some sort of back story to them. If I don't have some reason for them "being", it's hard to stay interested in my characters.
I've also never had any problems with Role Players. I've teamed up quite often on Virtue and have never had any of the outlandish, over-the-top RP'ers that some people have mentioned. Maybe I'm just lucky as I'm sure there are some extreme RP'ers out there.
I've never soft-capped my defenses on any of my characters... yet. I have a Night Widow that I hope to someday cap, but that's a long way off.
I've never broken 400 million Inf on any character.
I've helped defeat every named GM in the game except for Caleb and the Arachnos Flier. I've never even seen them. (aside from screenshots and the Flier in Mercy and in the Talos safeguard)
I've never gotten an Invul Tank past lvl 20. Though I have a lvl 50 Ice/SS and a lvl 50 Fire/Fire tank, and two lvl 35 WP tanks, one Stone Melee and the other Axe.
I've never gotten into Fire/Kin farming, even though I have a lvl 50 fire/kin. I got to 50 easy enough, and got some 'good' farming missions but just can't stand the actual farming part. I prefer my Fire/Fire tank for farming. Not as fast of course, but a lot more fun for me.
I've never hosted a costume contest, though I've thought about it a few times.
I'm sure there are other things, but at this point I'm really grasping at straws so I'll stop here. -
I thought I was the only one who did that. I guess that if I am as messed up as I think I am, others are in the same vicinity.
-
I've noticed something odd with the zombie invasions since i16. It used to be that when there was a zombie invasion, both hero and villain side would get a zone invaded. Since i16, I've only seen one side get the invasion, never both.
And yes, I put both hero and villain zone even messages in my tab so I see both sides when something happens. If I happen to be on one side and there is something spawned on the other I need, I like to know about it. Setting up my chat tabs is one of the first things I do when I make a new toon.
Maybe they were never meant to spawn both sides and it got fixed with i16, or maybe it got borked with i16 and they are only spawning for one side. Who knows for sure. Maybe we can get a Dev to look into it. -
My lvl 50 Dom didn't bother with any of the patrons since nothing fit my idea of how he should be. Same thing for my lvl 50 MM. Matter of fact, I don't think I have patrons planned out for any of my villains as none of them seem to fit in with my themes for the characters.
Would some of the patron powers make the toons more powerful? I'm sure they would. But if I'm happy playing the way I have them sans patrons, I don't see anything wrong with that either.
Play what you want, how you want. -
Quote:I've heard that the Black Market is working fine. Someone mentioned in Broadcast that WW and the BM are on different servers, so it may just be heroes who are shafted. But a friend told me it was working when I asked him to check. Very strange.
Edit:
And now as of 3:25 Eastern, WW is back up. -
Same here, 3:05 Eastern on Champion.
Saw some people asking if WW was down, decided to check it myself and nothing.
Hope this gets fixed soon. -
Sure it does... to an extent. I mean, in this day and age, people use their cell phones to do all kinds of thing besides just talking to someone. Watching TV or movies, listening to music, surfing the internet getting news updates and stock market reports.
So why can't we have something similar to that here in Co*?
Want to place a bid on something, but you're in the middle of a mission? Use your cell phone, call up Wentworths and place a bid.
Out buying some SO's and need more money? Call up Wentworths and see if any of your items you had up for sale have sold, and if so, have the 'money' transferred to your account.
I think it makes at least a little sense to be able to place bids or collect inf from sold items from anywhere in the game. I mean, I see it all the time in some of the global channels I'm in... "Could someone close to the market see how much a Positron's Blast Acc/Dam lvl 38 is going for? Just had one drop in this missions and I'm curious."
If you wanted to put up anything at Wentworths to sell or pick up an item you bid on and won, then you'd actually have to visit one "physically". I think EVERYONE would like to be able to check on the prices or availability of certain items and to check their bids/sales from anywhere. At least, I know I would. -
I gave CO a go during closed and open beta. I wanted to like the game, I really did but I just couldn't. There was next to nothing about the game for me to like.
I won't say that I'll never give the game another shot, but I'd have to see a huge, drastic amount of changes for the better before I'd ever bother buying CO. And considering the changes that have been made so far (according to the CO forums anyway), they are changing the game in the opposite direction from what I consider "better". -
I have to say, I'm really looking forward to Going Rogue. Especially now that I've actually played Champions for a while. I was lucky enough to get into the closed beta for CO earlier this month and all can say about CO is thank heavens I got to try it before I bought it as it would have been a waste of money.
There are many reasons why I dislike CO, but this isn't the correct place to air those comments.
Anyway, I have gotten a little tired of the content here in CoX, but not the game itself. It's just a "lack of content" that is making CoX a little stale for me right now. I have a feeling though that there will be a lot of new content with Going Rogue. Maybe not even as much as City of Villains had, but who is to say right now. We know next to nothing about GR at this point.
I've been here for 5+ years and deep down still enjoy the game. I just need a little something new to keep it fresh. Shoot, even being able to side switch will keep me happy for quite a while.

Quote:They re-ordered the tanker secondaries a while back to allow them to have 3 attacks by lvl 4, instead of lvl 10. And I think that was for ALL the tanker sets at the time it was done. So them moving existing powers around in sets that are already Live has precedent. It's probably a design no-no to shuffle the order of powers unless absolutely necessary (though I feel like they have done it before... can't think of a for-instance though). Since no ELA scrappers or tankers exist yet, it's no problem, but changing the order of powers for existing characters is probably a real pain.
I think they should put everyone on equal footing and let the Brutes and Stalkers enjoy the new goodness that is coming to Electric Armor. Sure folks will have to respec to fix those changes, but I can't imagine many (if any) that wouldn't see it as a big improvement. -
I can't say that I've found ANY of the AE stuff to be much fun. New or old, none of the "stories" I've come across have interested me. The Devs Choice arcs I've played have let me down big time. Maybe it's because a lot of the ones I've played are non-canon, or maybe they aren't my "cup of tea".
Either way, the only reason I even bother with AE anymore is if I need some salvage. I gather up enough tickets to buy what I need and move back to the "good old" regular content for my fun.
I've actually done more Ouroboros stuff since the AE came out than I have since it was introduced back in what, i11? I thought that the AE would be really great, and while it is fun at times, I guess it's just not for me. -

It's funny, I took a break from the game for about a month and when I came back I decided to log in all my toons and move them to different Day Job spots. Something like 50+ toons over all the servers. Needless to say, this is no small chore.
Anyway, while going through the different servers I started noticing that my e-mail boxes were empty. I started really keeping track after noticing this and by the time I was done I found I had a grand total of 5 spam e-mails.
I don't know if the spammers just don't like me or if it's the fact that as soon as I make a toon and get them into the tutorial I hide from searches that keeps me from getting spammed. Whatever it is, I'm glad I don't have to put up with that crap. -
I read whatever the people put in their missions. Sadly, I don't tend to find many people that actually DO that.
They write up a decent description for the arc to lure me in and then I get inside and BLAMMO, nothing else. No chatting mobs. Generic descriptions when I hit info on the mobs. No clues, nothing for collection items. Just bland old defeat boss, collect clues, defeat all enemies.
I'd really like to find a way to sift through the flotsam and find some really good arcs. I mean, apparently there are some out there.
Aren't there? -
My initial take on the MA was "this will be awesome". I wasn't lucky enough to get into closed beta but when it went open beta, I spent many MANY hours on test checking things out. I made a couple of missions, some custom characters and had a blast.
After about a week of testing, I'd pretty much burned out on MA and decided to head back to the live servers and let my batteries recharge.
When MA went live I moved my stories over to the live game and published a new, 1 mission story I'd created the day it went live. Just a little something I had floating in my head and I wanted to try some new things with the editor.
Anyway, I played some others stories for a few days before a friend of mine wanted to learn how to make his own missions. I showed him the basics of it and helped him make his own mission.
And then I burned out again.
I stopped trying to make my own arcs and decided to play other players. I figured I would play the non-Dev Choice ones since I knew they'd always be there. I played a couple dozen or so arcs and 90% of them were utter crap. Not that any of the arcs I created were worthy of any high praise. But I somehow expected more, or at least better.
Recently I decided to play the Dev Choice arcs and I have to say that they are not much better. Better, yes, but not by much. Maybe I expected too much considering they were Dev Choice or the stories just weren't MY kind of stories.
Even with all that said, I keep looking for good player made content, but I have yet to find anything that is "above average".
So right now, my overall feeling about the MA is a big MEH. It was a bright shiny that caught my eye briefly, but now that I've seen it for myself I'm just not impressed.
Oh and as for the "nerf", again a meh from me. I knew it was going to happen and I'll admit, I took advantage of it while it lasted. I didn't do any "exploit" type missions, but I did run a few missions with my friend and his 50, while I got auto SK'd to 45. Soaking in the xp/inf/tickets was nice I admit, but like I said I knew it wouldn't last.
I'm glad that others love it, and I will say that it was a good thing for the game. It's just apparently not for me. -

They all have Throwing Knives as their ranged attack. And boy do they hurt. -
More visual clues for a VIDEO game. Makes sense to me.

Great idea. Let's hope the devs think so as well. -

[*]Tanker, Brute, and Scrapper versions of taunt now display a message when the taunt portion of the power misses in PVP. Stalker taunt is unchanged.
[/ QUOTE ]
Um, wasn't that last part pointed out as an error several weeks ago by someone? Or did the Devs give stalkers taunt powers as some kind of cruel joke?
[/ QUOTE ]
I saw that when i14 went to open beta and made a joke post about it here.
Not sure exactly what is up with that, unless they mean to say that Stalkers that take Challenge or Provoke from the Presence pool have no changes attached.
I don't know of any Stalkers who would take either of those powers, aside from getting to Intimidate and/or Invoke Panic. -
[ QUOTE ]
You don't like villain content, but villain content is the same as hero content. 95% of the bad guys you fight are the same NPC's you fight in Paragon City. You're just playing a hero for Recluse using different AT's.
Yeah, it's just you.
[/ QUOTE ]
Villains don't have access to hero missions, TF's or zones. So ummm, just how is villain content the "same" as hero content?
Granted, mechanically it is. Defeat foes, collect XP, level up and get new powers/slots. Rinse and repeat until you hit level 50.
I played a villain to 50 (a Dom) and I just can't bring myself to go through the villain content again, it just wasn't fun. I can't say I'm a role player, but I do read the mission info and use it to get prepared for the mission. The villain stuff just doesn't "work" for me.
On the flip side, I've leveled 11 heroes to 50 in the last 4 plus years, and I still enjoy heroside content. For me, the aesthetics are more to my liking heroside. It's a personal choice.
One last thing. I'm of the opinion that having more options is a good thing. With some upcoming MMO's giving some probably serious competition to this game, opening up the 10 basic AT's to be playable on whatever side the player chooses seems like a good idea.
I do think that the Arachnos and Kheldian AT's should be locked to their respective sides at the beginning. Though if the option ever comes up to allow current characters the ability to switch over, they'd have to be allowed to switch then. -
[ QUOTE ]
I really, really, really hope side-switching is NOT put in the game. The balance issues would be catastrophic, and certain AT's would be ignored, especially dominators. Everyone would bring their fire/kin red-side and dominators would be completely irrelevant.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm waiting for side switching to come to the game just so I can play Doms again.
I dislike the villain content, but really like the AT's. If I could have a Dom heroside, I'd have no problem making a few and having fun doing it.
Probably just me though.
